Black Walnut

So this is love... I bought a bottle of Black Walnut online, blind, because I liked the name and it was cheap enough to take the risk. Opened my new bottle (great packaging by the way) and sprayed a sample on the back of my hand, paused a moment to recap the bottle, then inhaled the gentle smoke drifting skywards. Wow! Oh wow! Oh wow! Put my nose down against my wrist and nuzzled in amongst the leaves. Sanctuary. I close my eyes and follow the scent trail. I feel like some sort of small woodland animal, wet fur, sleek, bright eyed, skittering along a riverbank, before diving into my deep, dark, cosy burrow. Just call me Mole. Just call me Ratty. This is the English countryside in autumn, trees bare black against an electric blue cloudless sky, sun bright but cold, the incense of gently steaming bonfires floats on the still air, evidence of unseen labour quietly keeping everything in neat order. 'England, forever England' as described in 'The Wind in the Willows' . This is a timeless countryside, not so far removed from Middle Earth, imagined into being in the comfort of an Edwardian gentleman's club amidst leather chairs, brandy, cigars. If you've never read Wind in the Willows, try it. It is a classic - it works on many levels so it is suitable for children and adults. Full of fable, adventure, homoeroticism, and mysticism. Black Walnut is how I in 2013 imagine the smell of Wind in the Willows and the Edwardian masculinity it celebrates. Fragrance as literary criticism. Intelligent perfume?! I had no idea that was possible. This is not a sexy fragrance unless you find intelligence erotic and then it captivates. I think you need to pick up on the allusions and then it charms. I am in love with this smell.

Let’s just get this out of the way; The performance isn’t amazing, but it’s not nearly as bad as people are saying. After 8 hours I still get mild whiffs of this. It’s faint, but it’s there. It can be very easy to “over smell” something and force yourself to go nose blind to it. Spray heavy with this one. 10+ sprays, mostly on clothes will give this the lifespan that it needs. Now, on to the smell... My god. Sophistication. Ease. It’s playful and yet serious. This has got to be one of the greatest masculine fragrances of ALL TIME. I smell this and I just think of wealth. The kind of wealth that doesn’t even need to announce itself. Sexy wealth. Respected wealth. The cognac gives us a nice boozy, dark blast in the opening but the tobacco is where it gets a little edgy. It evokes a hearty, robust smoky nuance that I haven’t really smelt anywhere else. It’s cigars with the boys in a dim lit study. Sipping on nice cognac and talkin shit. It’s just a good time. And women absolutely love this. Buy this. I mean, right now, go out of your own way to get it. It’s perfection. And remember to overspray. No one will be upset at you for it, it’s that damn good. 9/10

Scent: 8/10 Value: 8/10 Longevity: 2/10 Sillage: 3/10 Versatility: 5/10 This fragrance is pleasing from the outset to my taste. It's understated but warm and well rounded. As much as I love the scent, it doesn't last very long on my skin. It doesn't seem to project much except maybe for the first 20 minutes or so. It's a little reminiscent of Burberry Touch for Men in how soft it is, but it's more of a straightforward scent profile. I think this one works better for cooler weather and for casual gatherings. The fragrance and presentation are very high quality. No synthetic notes are apparent to me. I'm curious to try layering this with other fragrances but haven't experimented with that as of yet. Luckily this is quite affordable so when I'm in the mood to wear it, I can apply liberally and reapply as needed.

I am writing a review for BLACK WALNUT LEGEND because there are like 2 reviews for it. I will preference by saying I have never actually smelled Creed Aventus I have smelled clones but never the real thing. I think the black walnut legend smells amazing. It definitely smells like Aventus there’s no doubting that. But i think that this is the best clone you can buy (for $20) don’t but this on FragranceX or any online discounter that charges over $30 for it, anything over that isn’t worth it. But I must say I think it smells amazing, yesterday I went to Burlington and bought a bottle for $20 and I loved it so today I went to Marshall’s and bought a second bottle. This is the first fragrance I have ever bought a back up bottle for. So now I have 200mils of this fragrance and I am not complaining at all.

I miss this thing so much. I loved it. I wore the shit out of it. Everyone around me told me how nice I smelled every time I put it on. I stood out but I weren’t off-puttin’. It was mature but I could rock it in me twenties without feelin’ like a toddler in me Dad’s shoes. It was the first tobacco fragrance I ever loved without even realisin’ it had tobacco in it because at the time I didn’t know clue one about notes or anythin’ like that. I just knew I smelt the nuts in it. I think this thing’s why I’m drawn to tobacco now thinkin’ about it. Even THE PACKAGIN’ was amazin’ I used that wooden box to store cufflinks in for YEARS. It outlasted THE FRAGRANCE. It’s probably still floatin’ around me place somewhere. I wouldn’t mind findin’ that.

I find the notes in this so well blended,no one note dominates here.of cos I was intrigued by just the three notes that supposedly make up this fragrance.not sure what accounts for the sublime sweetness though. I have no problems with longevity at all.I can still smell it even after 8hours.I must admit I achieved that on a cool rainy day so cant vouch for that in all seasons.but I can see it as being ideal for evening wear and on cold days and clearly will fit a mature man.Given it's elegance,mellow nature and slight sweeness women can -and I mean WOMEN-can easily pull this off without raising curious eyebrows Not tried all from this house but I can see this as a very good one from banana republic.well done!

Batch number 18197RA, 2018 (only 2-3 months old) Initial thoughts: Weak, terrible alcoholic opening... I was wondering if it was the carrier solution or a note. After wearing all day and constantly topping up with a fresh squirt every hour: A subtle sweet, nutty, boozy almost gourmand scent... For me it is just addictive!!! Third day on the trot that I am wearing it today, and I cannot get enough Longevity is poor, like most scents today and sillage is below average. Heavenly! Although I've had this for a few years, I decided today would be the day to wear it considering its been a while! This fragrance is a great fragrance that doesn't shout, (as someone else pointed out) "Hey I am in the room," but when you get a whiff of this in passing it does say, "Wow, you smell good!" Black Walnut has a great tobacco smokiness along with a woodsy, sweet smell that is very intriguing. Another fragrance that comes to mind is Valbonne of the house of Molton Brown the Navigation Scents line. Although different, these resemble a dominant tobacco smokiness that is very uplifting in my estimation.

What I get is a warm, comforting, sweet tobacco. Cedar hides in the background. Its rather natural and nothing to fear about buying blind. To me it was a perfect blind buy and I believe women would love this as well. Great fall/spring/evening scent, great for office too. Not ground breaking but a very pleasant fragrance which reminds me of Aigner Black which is along the same line but dark and aggressive. Has longevity issues and I've found that liberally spraying on your clothes can get you 5-6 hours. One of the best light-inoffensive smells I have encountered.

This is a very nice masculine warm and inviting creamy manly scent. Don’t know why people say it goes away. You’re not supposed to smell it yourself, others around you will! Also don’t understand why some compare this to creeds Aventus or say it’s a copy or clone. Smells nothing like it and this fragrance came out years before Aventus was thought of! This is a simple and effective scent that women will love and you won’t stop wanting to smell it yourself. It’s tobacco Woody and creamy great for dates, nights and the fall and holidays!

Review #3 Absolutely incredible scent on this fragrance, the cognac mixed with the cedar does indeed somehow conjure up the essence of a roasted black walnut, or maybe even a black walnut old fashioned. The only downside is the longevity in this is practically epheremal, barely lasting 30 minutes before becoming a skin scent, nearly completely fading off the skin by two hours. If this lasted longer as an edp i would buy it again in a heartbeat. You just have to spray 20 sprays when using this and expect it will only last an hour.

This was on my test list for a long time, but was quickly forgotten once I started trying more higher-end stuff. Why go backwards to try a $20 scent? Im glad i did because it is very fine indeed. Highly underpriced for the quality of scent. Others complain of no longevity or projection but it's quite strong and has lasted since I sprayed 6 hours ago. This is a warm, comfort scent not a hey look at me. If it was a projection/longevity monster I think it would ruin what this scent is about and would get annoying and out of place.

Very pleasant and soothing fragrance ...... While the ingredients are simple, the effect is extremely complex system! Durability is fine. Harmony with the sweet nature of the "black" called ...... Wonderful composition! Less popular, but more convincing phenomenon ........ Anyone who becomes one with the fragrance of the opening of the "nutshell" and find your inner values! Up to Tchaikovsky's Nutcracker story ....... elegant, masculine and majestic charisma, while the overall effect makes the solemn moment ............ Bravo!

This is a gorgeous fragrance. From beginning to end, it was, "Mmmmm...so good." Black Walnut is dark, warm, and slightly spicy with a woody undertone. There is a sweet vestigial essence around the cognac with a hint of tobacco that adds to its appeal. It does not have great sillage, so this one is for close contact enjoyment. She loves hugging me with this one on. Additionally, the wood box for it is a beauty. It's unfortunate that Black Walnut is lacking in the longevity department.

My review is for BLACK WALNUT LEGEND which is spicy and masculine reminding me of a citrus julip that is crisp, inviting and refreshing. The top notes are Calabrian bergamot, Black pepper and Kumquat. The heart notes develop out of Geranium, Incense and Cyclamen which is only slightly floral and then dries down to the base notes of Patchouli, sexy Black leather and Skin musk for a silage that will please anyone you walk by and begs for them to come closer.

This fragrance sits very close to the skin so you can feel safe to over spray it . Like most cedar scents (Ambroxan) you become anosmic to it pretty fast Although you may not smell it.. other people do It’s a safe office fragrance I sprayed it on in the AM and I was getting wafts through my 8hr shift It’s doesn’t project .... But it’s there If there was a EDP version or Extrait Parfum this would be a banger Still a dummy grab Safe blind buy

This may be the nicest smelling fragrance I've ever put my nose on and at $20 a bottle you can get 4 bottles for the cost of many other designer juices. That's a good thing, because you're going to need every ml to keep this fragrance alive on your skin. If you don't mind carrying an atomizer and re-applying Black Walnut nearly every hour you will be rewarded with one of the richest scents ever created. I'm game. It's that amazing!

This is very over spray friendly. You really NEED to over spray to get reliable performance. This scent is worth every bit and the price that allows you to over spray and enjoy without disturbing others because the scent is so pleasant. I think it works best layering for me, it adds the perfect amount of tobacco to the cedarwood vanilla I pick up from mixing BH parfum with BH Intense, and lasts longer when layered.

A nice fragrance for the inexpensive price you can find it for. Starts off with a wet tobacco note (if you've smelled Versace the Dreamer, it's similar to my nose), but dries down to a nice sweet, woody smell. The projection is not massive, and this is a fragrance that I think is perfect for the office or more casual settings. It's classy, understated, and quite nice. I'm a fan!

.... Where there are luxury items like tobacco or cognac and in particular with addictive .... Then there H.Fremont and creates perfume these components to a base of Virginia cedar ..... rewarded in 2007 FiFi Award !! Brilliant !!!! The fragrance is both uplifting and mood natural ..... Fremont has created a fragrance as well as addictive as the ingredients themselves !!

This is a must have if you're a guy! It comes on fresh and simple but then dries down to a dark masculine scent. It is a little bit sweet but it's not boozy in a negative way. It's actually a very good cognac note. This stuff smells very masculine! This is a love face for me! This is really good imo!

Gorgeous fragrance at an unbeatable price--I paid $20. As much as I love these notes, this juice instantly registered as (too) masculine on my skin, so I immediately handed the bottle off to my father. Lucky him! It suits him perfectly and he was thrilled.

A great scent. Warm and woody, but not heavy. Sexy in a soft, lazy way...does have longevity issues, but reasonable price allows for multiple respraying without breaking the bank.

It's absolutely delicious; warm and rich, just like a man should be ;) Seriously though, this is one of my favourite smells for men, and smells like authentic luxury.

Addictive smell that does not last very long unfortunately. It does smell incredible and masculine but I mainly use it as an air freshener for my truck.

Today, I'm looking at another affordable fragrance house that has garnered a fair amount of attention within the community: Banana Republic. This house has produced a few fragrances that receive notable mentions, and today's fragrance, Black Walnut, is certainly one of them. In fact, when I asked an AI what the most popular men's Banana Republic fragrance was, Black Walnut topped the list. Let's get into it and see if this fragrance is the hidden gem it's made out to be. Opening: The opening is a masculine composition of wood, gentle warmth, and a touch of booziness. The official note breakdown lists only three accords: cognac, tobacco, and Virginia cedar, and all are immediately discernible. The most prominent note upon the first spray is the Virginia cedar, which presents a substantial dose of dry woodiness. It carries a subtle "lumberyard" accord, but it is not so harsh or pronounced as to be off-putting. The cedar is followed by the cognac, which provides a distinct booziness vaguely reminiscent of the signature accord found in Mugler's Pure Malt. While that fragrance uses whiskey, the way the booziness comes across in Black Walnut bears a notable resemblance. Lastly, the tobacco creates a layer of warm and herbaceous sweetness for the cedar and cognac to perform upon. While it's not the highest-quality tobacco I have ever encountered and does come across as a bit synthetic, it isn't outright offensive either. Performance: The initial projection is quite robust and reaches out at least six feet. Sillage is powerful as well, with an easily noticeable scent trail. After about three to four hours, the projection remained largely unchanged. At the seven to eight-hour mark, the projection was about three to four feet, and the scent trail was lighter but still discernible. The fragrance finally became a skin scent around the nine-to ten-hour mark. When to Wear: Black Walnut is a fall/winter fragrance that is best suited for evening wear. It can be easily worn for both casual and formal situations, and would also work well for special occasions like date nights or even in an office environment if worn in moderation. Blind Buy: If you appreciate a traditionally masculine fragrance with an emphasis on woods and tobacco, this would be a safe blind buy for you. Final Verdict: Black Walnut is one of those fragrances that smells pleasant while you are wearing it, but is admittedly a bit forgettable. It does not excel in any one area, and there are many other fragrances with a similar profile that are executed with more finesse. Very nice composition. The tone is rugged, rustic, and deep; the blending is superb. While Cordovan and Slate might be dismissed as "well-executed but cliché", Black Walnut, I feel, is able to distinguish itself within the tobacco-and-boozey-oriental genre- and is worth seeking out. After several wearings and comparing, I do agree that it shares some similarities with Tommy Bahama Men (2005), as well as Zirh Ikon. TBM has a dry, bitter-spicy edge, and ZI has a lively top and upper-heart that makes it project at the onset- but the drydowns of all three- heavy with frankincense and solemn woods- are quite similar. Black Walnut has an overall "smooth" vibe from beginning to end- devoid of those sharper peaks of the other two- preferring instead to hum along on your skin with a reserved presence. Sillage and longevity: sillage is moderate-to-soft for the first 5 hours, falling to soft afterward, keeping the skin deliciously-scented of wood, incense, and musk at an intimate distance well beyond the 12-hour mark. EDIT: If you're wondering why I rate the longevity higher than most, it may be because I generally only scent my arms and sometimes legs- never along the center of my body; this keeps the scent from hitting my nose continuously, and from becoming fatigued to my own scent. Therefore, 'Black Walnut' performs as a long-lasting skin-scent of base-notes well after the first 5 hours of mod-soft projection. EDIT: Ended up selling my bottle. There are better-performing scents in a similar vein out there. 'Black Walnut' is a bit lacking in the lower heart section. After the first 5 hours, the main scent is gone, and you are left with only subtle base-notes on your skin- nice... but I prefer stronger scents.

Picture a group of professional people meeting after work hours for a special event, perhaps a charity event, a governor's ball, something serious, semi-formal at least, suits with ties and dresses. To me that's the kind of situation Black Walnut is perfect for. It's not an everyday fragrance, it's classier than a general office fragrance, and it's not a club cologne. It's slightly dull, a little oily but classy for sure. I actually appreciate the dry down a lot. As it gets closer to the skin it just becomes absolutely beautiful but comfortable. It's hard to describe. I wore it last night, woke up this morning and put my nose under my shirt to see if it was still there and man it smelled so good. This is a cologne for people who wear colognes for themselves. The performance issues are there for sure, not much projection, fades pretty quickly, but does every fragrance need to be a Spice Bomb Extreme? I think Black Walnut has it's place, but it's a very specific place. I wish it was a little more sharp and not so muted. It's like a pastel. But I'll definitely be wearing it for the right occasions. I'm glad I tried it.

This one is a strong 8/10 ... but for maybe 2 hours only unless you really spray it in layers. It is very linear for the most part ... initial impressions and mids ... pretty much a boozy tobacco that's slightly sweet. We're talking about something akin to walking into the private, climate controlled room ... like a walk-in humidor lounge. The drydown comes fast ... within 20+ minutes and is a woodsy, cedar tobacco that is still slightly sweet. Some will say to wear this in Winter ... possibly that's ok, if you're wintering in South Texas, perhaps. It really doesn't have the projection or longevity to make it through cold weather, layered clothing. It's actually perfect for the Fall or very early Spring ... think 55-70 °F for It's sweet spot. It will probably have a wide appeal to many age categories ... especially 25-55 age range. It's a bargain of a price on sale at most rack stores ... so spray away ... just like I did around an hour ago to put me in the mood to write this review! PS ... if you don't like sweet tobacco or booze, especially when blended together ... do NOT buy it as a blind buy. ENJOY!!!

What I dig about the Banana scents is by and large they come across as so affable. Yes, they tend to be very safe and not everyone's into fragrance houses that don't take chances- I get that. But their scents are like their brand: tailored, preppy and hipster. What can I tell ya- a spoonful of pretentiousness helps the medicine go down. Black Walnut qualifies as masculine but is also friendly and approachable. It has its arms open ready to give you a big hug. Similar to Clinique's "Happy" in that sense although it is a much different offering. And it is quite reminiscent of the discontinued (sniffle) Tommy Bahama Men, only with a drizzle of syrup stirred in. Sadly Black Walnut lacks in the projection department, but it still lasts a surprisingly long time on the skin- sticking very close. It also develops in a neato-mosquito way. On me it transformed into a super pleasant version of Axe body spray before settling into nutmegish soapy joy. I say go for it and blind buy. Black Walnut is low-key special and pretty affordable.

I just got my 100ml bottle of BR’s Black Walnut 2days ago....and folks I’m LOVING it! This was a “blind buy” because I thought you can’t go wrong with the notes of Cognac, Cedarwood and Tobacco. I was right! I would call this a sublime and elegant woody scent. Suits the 25-35 yrs age group. The frag cycles through the Cognac and Cedarwood (reminds me of “pencil shavings”) notes in the first 3hours and then settles into the lovely Tobacco drydown. Its not loud at all and is close to the skin. I could sniff it on my wrist about 6-7 hrs after the first spray. Projection and sillage are weak to average. It comes in a classy black wooden box with magnetic edges and a lovely petite but sturdy bottle. The spritzer could’ve been better though. On the whole I'm very happy with this purchase. (My last purchase was Guerlain's L'Instant Pour Homme EDT). Black Walnut is a frag for the true connoisseur i.e- for pure self satisfaction as opposed to the “hey check me out” desperado!! Understated class.

Black Walnut is a very pleasant fragrance from Banana Republic. What I get upon application is a fresh cognac cedar with a slight powderiness . I don’t get much tobacco but I can pick it up if I smell close to my skin. In the opening I get that pleasant cognac/cedar and this lasts for about 10mins. After that I pretty much get a clean soapy smell (I’m guessing from the cedar). The cognac doesn’t last very long and the fragrance stays close to the skin after the first half hour. Black walnut doesn’t last very long even when I spray on clothes. I get a few hours of performance overall and I enjoy it for the time that it’s on. I did get noticed at work about 6hrs in once though so maybe it was my olfactory kicking in. It’s versatile (fresh/sweet) and can be worn anytime anywhere. It’s a no brainer fragrance. It’s inexpensive and a good little fragrance to have in any collection. Unfortunately I won’t keep it in my collection as there are many better ones out there.

Banana Republic's Black Walnut is a great tobacco/woody/citrus grouping. The note breakdown doesn't do it much justice, with the summary of tobacco, cognac, cedar. It's mostly tobacco with some light sweetness from cedar, but I get sharper citrus aspects (lemon, perhaps) that seem to go unnamed. Light on projection and longevity but also low on price (now $20 for 100ml at Marshall's), Black Walnut is a great option for a lighter, more warm weather-friendly tobacco expression than is generally available. Black Walnut is a great year-round option for tobacco and certainly something that can be applied in both casual and formal situations. It's a pleasant fragrance at a great value---it's worthwhile for any man to try, not just fans of tobacco, and I've even go so far as to say that some women might deem it pleasant for them too. If there is a tobacco fragrance that is not super sweet that may work for women, this may be it. 7 out of 10

First use: boozy cognac open, with tobacco heart note, followed by by a walnut wood base. There's nothing inherently wrong with the fragrance -- it is pleasant, but light and simple. Given it's often at discounters, the value proposition makes it worth having as it could easily be used as a woody tobacco layer on one of your other fragrances. Second use: post-bathe w/ sandalwood crystals in case residual scent interferes (it didn't). More cognac on the open this time and sweeter too; rich cedar comes through. Tobacco is less herbal and more tobacco floral, which is nice. The dark walnut base is still there, but now I wish the tobacco and cognac stuck around because they were lovely. Worth owning especially as a nighttime post-bathe / unwind scent, especially if available at $20 for a 100ml.

For the money this is not a bad fragrance. I have the intense version and i think its stronger than the original formulation. Smells similar to some well known Aventus-like colognes out there. Because of that I'd say its good for everyday and an office setting because it is not very overpowering. The scent is rather good, the opening is great. Longevity is between weak and moderate. In terms of longevity it becomes a skin scent rather quickly so the projection is not very good. For $15-20 at Marshall's it is a good value, I use this as a backup in my gym bag that stays in my car. I'd chose Montblanc Explorer every time over this performance wise, keep in mind i could buy 3-4 bottles of Black Walnut for the price of Explorer.

Pleasantly surprised!! Picked this up by mistake the other day. I was actually trying to buy black walnut legend. Anyways, I open the package and test it right away. To my surprise it was something else. Nonetheless, I really enjoy the smell. It’s very linear in a good way. It is pretty intimate and classy. I could imagine wearing this in a dimly lit , cozy wooden room. It’s not allowed at loud fragrance by any means. It’s a very team and almost comforting, not predatory like PR one million . Also, am I the only one who smells resinous notes. on the dry down, it ever so slightly reminds me of church. Only a little bit, as if you came back from mass an hour ago. 8/10 + great value

Very nice, worth getting! As someone stated earlier, nothing to fear buying blind. Look for the 100ml wood box with magnetic catches at base. However, I do feel it's important to state what might be obvious to some: this has nothing to do with any olfactory idea of "black walnut." The name is purely artistic, or aspirational. In reality it is an above-average to maybe even excellent tobacco fragrance. And the sillage is nothing to complain about either. Not weak, not beast mode. Just right. Knowing these things walking in may help the next tragically overliteral person like me who expected something called black walnut to smell like black walnut. 🙄😂

This seems like primarily Iso-E with some minor accents, but most reminds me of Molecule 01, which is why it seems boozy at first but finishes with such a distinctly dry and light/airy woodsy impression. I am a huge fan of Iso-E-super - one of the best synthetic notes out there, very similar to cashmeran - and recognized my old friend as soon as I had sprayed this on. This actually has more sillage than you think, but it presents itself on almost the olfactory equivalent of the subconscious level. Which is great because: 1. Over-application is almost impossible, and 2. It's so much more affordable than Molecule 01.

Dark spicy wood is the essence of BLACK WALNUT, a relatively linear Banana Republic fragrance marketed to men, but which is entirely suitable for women as well. Unfortunately, the staying power and sillage are not so great, but this is an edt, not an edp. Although BLACK WALNUT is not sweet, I find it delicious all the same. Now that I look at the notes, it must be the combination of the cognac and the tobacco--feels like pipe, not cigar or cigarette--that accounts for the delectable, rich and enticing quality of this warm woody fragrance. Yum! I may have to buy a large bottle to douse myself in!

I didn't smell this long enough to give feedback on notes exactly, but I smelled it on a random guy the other day and LOVED it. Me, like a creeper: *shoulder tap* Hey, what cologne are you wearing? You smell great. Him, all smiles: Banana Republic Black Walnut! Me, creeper mode continues: ....Can I smell you? Is that weird? Him, Mr. Smiley Pants: Sure!!! *leans head away* ...good thing I wasn't a vampire or something, muahah. He'd be so done for. Rofl! Anyway seriously it's REALLY yummy and appears to have decent sillage! <3 Want to smell it again, may get my own sample.

Picked this up in the 100ml for $20us. Have to say LOVE the smell....absolute shame that it vanishes so quick! If Mugler, Zara, Amouage or Versace would duplicate the scent and add their longevity and sillage this would be a timeless classic...but hey, for .20 cent per ml who can complain right??? For what it is worth, the scent is nothing more than a skin scent and is a PURE Black Walnut aroma almost all the way through..smells exactly like fresh cut Black Walnut and that to me is great...I love woodsy scents and this one has it...for about 30 mins sadly...

This is a suble elegant fragrance but unfortunily does not last on my skin but neverless i like it. it starts with semi-sweet cognac a wisp of tabacco and the drydown of sharp ceder; i love the clean lines from this flacon and the box its self reminds me of an black lacquered oriental style box where you put your tabacco in. my opinions about this fragrance conjoures up two sayings the singer not the song & the crakerjacks without the prize it offers us it with it's elegant packaging but the scent sells short. without the prize

Booze and woods! Ok, perhaps not just like that. But black walnut is like a simpler and subdued version of CK Shock. I find it quite attractive, masculine but not dense and heavy. The tobacco is beautiful, I can imagine myself wearing this perfume on a frigid day and oh, must be heaven! It's not groundbreaking and longevity is a short lived one but still, this is a good scent. One thing that never disappoints about BR fragrances is the bottles, always good quality, simple refinement and classic.

One of my first colognes when I got back into it a few years ago. Honestly, it doesn't shine with the first spray (and dont stop at just one spray as this one you need a lot due to weakness), however - once it mellows out a bit, its such a subtle and pleasant woody tobacco with some very slight cognac. It certainly comes across as far more sophisticated than what it is - but if you find it cheap at Marshalls like I did, I high recommend it if you are into tobacco fragrances.
