Epic Journey Into the Bottled Yonder, 096 ------------------------------------------------------- Purchased July 2019 This is more like it for a clean scent. It's got a bit of fruit, bit of mildy woody soap and somehow a breeze about it. Does not smell like what it's supposed to be, "cordovan". I already had a full shell cordovan wallet before getting this, so it's not what I was imagining or picturing. The bottle I received is also the redesign, just a clear glass bottle instead of the cordovan-esque coloured bottle. That's sort of better considering what it SMELLS like. But still not entirely happy with this scent. There was something in the '90s I remember that had a similar figgy, clean thing about it. That's mostly why I kept it because there's an innocent pleasance, doesn't take itself seriously in a good way. This is basically for the office in at least 3 seasons, so I don't really think about it anymore.

He is green from the earth and has fig leaves growing from his head. Sprouts grow through his scalp and release their vegetal quality. Nutmeg adorns his eye sockets and with each blink, spiciness comes forward. His leather jacket is tattered and shows his earthly history. Fresh and bright juniper protrude from his breasts and adds to his green theme. His navel houses lavender petals that fall as he walks and they mix on the Iris flowers clawing up from his shoes. His vetiver laces intertwine into the earth and if he stays too still, he roots himself to you. #BananaRepublic makes some of my favorite fragrances and #Cordovan is so blissful. Green fig leaves mix with leather, earthy vetiver, and spicy nutmeg. Iris adds a slick powder touch while the juniper and bergamot keep things fresh.

This fragrance is a fall day to me. It's masculine, it's green, it earthy, and it has a very subtle sweetness to it. It may not speak to everyone, but it absolutely speaks to me. Which is why it is one of my signature scents. For those who say this generic or nothing new, I challenge you find me something that smells like this, because I've looked for similar fragrances and nothing exists. The notes I get most in this one are the leather, fig leaf, vetiver, and the lavender I believe. There's a strong floral note, but I don't think it's the iris. The iris is very tame in comparison to "iris" scents. It's there, but it really doesn't define the fragrance.

Elegant bottle and inexpensive entry point for someone new to cologne or looking to find a casual scent that isn't prohibitively expensive. The fig and leather is lovely, and the drydown highlights the vétiver and nutmeg on me. It's so pleasant and easy to wear that it's a safe blind buy, and to catch a whiff of it on a jacket or sweater on another day is like a fond memory of a sunny autumn day. Not the most original fragrance in the world, but it's almost guaranteed to work for business or casual in cooler months without being overwhelming to the wearer or others. I like it on me, but love it on my husband.

Very generic and serviceable cologne. Good woody aromatic masculine scent profile. Can wear all year round, but perfectly fits the cold sunny days in between seasons when you want to wear something simple for short errands. Very casual and relaxed. If you want it to perform, you need to overspray (10 at the bare minimum) and do it over clothes too

I didn't recall Cordovan being one of my favorite Banana Republic scents (Black Walnut is definitely superior in my opinion) but it seemed worth another try via blind buy, and it does make for a pleasant fresh spicy option. It comes off as a mix of leather, vetiver, lavender, bergamot, and even perhaps some juniper and fig, though the latter two might just be a guess due to their listing in the notes breakdown. It's certainly more ideal for cold weather usage but is light enough to probably have year-round versatility, though I'd certainly prefer to just use it casually on cold weather days and wear something else at night or for more formal occasions. Projection and longevity aren't much to speak of, but given that it's now reached secondhand status (at $20 for 100ml at Marshalls), Cordovan is a reasonable deal. 6 out of 10

I believe this have been reformulated or something. I blind bought a bottle from Ross but the bottle looks different than the one on the picture. The style is the same but the bottle is completely clear. I don't get much of the notes listed. The fragrance smells to me very fresh, like a soapy/shower gel type of scent. Reminds me of Jordan cologne or something from Penguin. It's not bad but I was a bit disappointed because I expected a woody or even leathery scent. I also over sprayed this one before going to bed and kept getting whips of it in the middle of the night which kind of make me sick of it.

Banana Republic CORDOVAN is a somewhat standard woody aromatic edt for men: refreshing bergamot and lavender grounded in vetiver and garnished with spice. I like CORDOVAN, but it's nothing really new. On the other hand, as a high quality edt in this genre, CORDOVAN is definitely a safe choice. A somewhat more exciting example of an aromatic intended for men but wearable by women is Balmain BALMAN. Both would be nice to wear after a bath and especially during the hot summer months. CORDOVAN is more subtle but less interesting and invigorating than BALMAN.

Cordovan feels like a fireplace on a cold night. It's not a new scent nor is a standout, but it has a calming, comforting aura. The strongest point is the opening with nutmeg, leather and some citrus notes. then it slowly fades away. No surprises in here, masculine staples like Lavender, Vetyver, Leather and Juniper. I'm surprised because usually I would give away a fragrance like Cordovan, but something in it makes me feel attracted to it. Perhaps is the effortless simplicity and elegant masculinity of this scent.

A very nice and fairly EDT formal. It has classic notes of citrus entry with wood, progresses to middle notes of soft woods with aquatic-green light touch, ending in a subtle aroma of wood in its base notes. It has universal age range, although it is more appropriate in young and middle-aged men. His season may be used at almost any time of year, your notes can still not saturate or discomfort in warm weather. A very pleasant aroma, is not innovative but it has high quality aroma.

It's a great effort for Banana Republic, but would be only so-so from a more distinguished fragrance house. The materials smell good - probably mostly chemical but not so obvious as to be screechy. My only real complaint about this fragrance is it's awfully unoriginal. A classy, leather-vetiver-woody-aromatic, at a good price point...but I'd be slightly disappointed in a serious collector who made this their signature scent - there's just so much more out there!

I really enjoy Cordovan I remember getting it in store in ‘09 when I was like 19/20 . The scent is sexy and reminds me of a good year! I think the performance isn’t the greatest but I mean it’s an EDT, besides I generally travel daily with the fragrance I wear so reapplying is a no brainer.

I picked this up from a discounter store, and it didn't look like the bottle in the picture, it was clear but had the same shape. It smelled like something I would have worn as a teen in the 90's. Not saying I disliked it, I did like it, but certainly for the younger crowd.

Wnat is up with Banana Republic and releasing fragrances/flankers that nobody can find info on...I've had cordovan..I don't get any animalic urine notes that some people get..but I found Cordovan Vintage..juice is darker...sweeter...glorious..what the heck

This is really smooth. The leather is not harsh or oily, it’s soft and more suede-like. The fig and bergamot add zest and visions of lush greenery!

I love the scent but the performance is terrible. No longevity at all. The bottle leaks between the glass and plastic and the atomizer is weak.

My review is gonna be based more on the Cordovan Vintage rather than the standard Cordovan, as there's unfortunately not a page for Cordovan Vintage. There's also not a huge change in notes either. Cordovan Vintage is a more berry forward version of the original Cordovan, coming off as a lot spicier and warm, with notes that give it a fruity character. Cordovan Vintage is a scent that I will straight up say. If you aren't one who wears leather, you simply won't like this. It has a specific audience, and it's VERY HARD to recommend to anyone to grab if leather isn't something they're nuts about. Bergamot, vetiver, iris, and leather are what carry this fragrance through, and to the untrained or not acquainted nose, it can smell VERY PUNGENT, especially if you're not used to it. It's also worth noting. People who I've spoken to who've worn it apart from me, often times confuse it, saying it has an orange peel like note to it, which, granted, not being listed in the fragrance notes, I agree. It does very much so have an orange note I'm quite fond of. It's a well rounded frag. It lights up the skin, and lasts about 4 good hours before a burn off period, though I have found it pairs well with anything with warm cinnamon notes and that tends to carry its lifespan through when sprayed.

It opens up like a masterfully blended Carbone de Balmain and pickle juice. Very weird, but not necessary unpleasant (at least to me). Luckily or not, at 15-20 min mark pickle juice evaporates and for next 2 hours it lasts on my skin it is pleasant but unremarkable scent. During a "pickle juice" phase it has moderate projection and sillage, after that it is a skin scent. For $17 I paid for 100ml bottle at discounters I can't complain, but the only time I would wear it will be when I'm going grocery shopping. Especially when I have to remember to buy pickles.

A really generic run of the mill npc ass fragrance. first one i haven't enjoyed from the banana gang.
