This stuff smells absolutely amazing. You could keep spending tons of money on Niche fragrances or give the Banana Republic Icon line a try and get a similar experience when it comes to an actual nice and unique fragrance. There are TONS of expensive fragrances that do not last super long or project like crazy. Why do the cheaper fragrances get judged so harsh on these metrics when the actual smell is what's important. This stuff is seriously high-end in its quality. I have tried so many expensive fragrances that do not smell nearly as good as this does. Super well blended, perfect for summer. The black currant and violet leaf blend beautiful and in the back of them is a really nice lavender. This stuff seriously smells so fuckin good! When you can find a 5oz bottle at Ross for $30 you buy that thing and make some decants and keep it on you and you're good the entire day if that's what you're going for. Or just use it to lift up your mood or when you need a quick and reliable fragrance and don't want to nuke out your area with some odd scent and force everyone to be bombarded by a fragrance you impose upon them. Love this one and I am so glad I scooped the 5oz bottle when I saw it because this is one you want around and want to be able to spray a little extra so it gets some legs to it.

Hey y’all this is a decent Release for BR, it could be considered unisex but in my opinion it leans a little more to the male gender. Starts off citrus mostly lemon, and fairly natural. The florals come through the mid and the dry down is more woody but still pretty fresh. I’ve noticed with the Icon line they typically sway either more feminine or male. This could be a blind buy for someone wanting a dumb reach freshie that takes some interesting turns, this one os not to linear longevity and performance are average. This is fairly typical of the Icon line. For me this and a few others like Vintage Green are decent releases.

So glad I decided to snag this. I was perplexed by the mixed reviews about what it smells like: "smells like silver mountain water" to "smells like every Creed ever mixed together." I should realize: if people say it smells like 5 different things rolled into one, it probably doesn't smell like any of them, and that turns out to be the case with Metal Rain. I get very little similarity ot SMW or any other specific Creed. Bottom line: to me, it does not smell like any other scent I have. I get a zingy lemon in the opening, followed by a sweet, almost sugar-cane like scent with a bit of melon. Great for summer wear for sure.

I love this fragrance partly because it reminds me of Curve Crush which I used to wear in high school. Metal Rain has the same vibes as Curve Crush but it is a bit more refined and definitely more intense. It just projects outward like no one's business even hours after the initial spray the sillage still is intense. It smells nice and fresh but it is not a fragrance to wear on a date. I don't find it seductive but it is something to wear if you want to smell clean and fresh. I think it is a perfect fragrance for any weather and I see it as more of a daytime fragrance.

I found a bottle at TJ Maxx for 25 bucks (the edp). To my nose, it smells like woods, citruses and lots of green tea. The tea note is really calming and is super prominent in the drydown. The longevity even for the edp is only about 3 hours. Good sillage for an hour ish. This is a great every day fragrance for a rainy day or a summer night. Its not super unique but it still gets enough complements. I’d choose this over most “blue” fragrances if the performance was any higher because the smell is just that good.

Just picked this one up after starting my Banana Icon collection. It has a blue fragrance vibe to it, slightly reminds me of Bleu by Chanel, but has a unique scent to it. The name is definitely appropriate, it kind of reminds you of being in the rain, where rain is interacting with a metal surface, giving it that metallic/ozonic smell. Like most blue fragrances, this one is super versatile. All these Icon frags have a well put-together vibe to them.

Does anyone know something that smells EXACTLY like this this but stronger? I never tried SMW so I cant compare there, but I did get Club De Nuit Sillage recently, and honestly these two arent very close. Metal Rain is more earthy, violet leaf focused while still having that cold metallic effect, Sillage on the other hand gets its metallic from the absolutely screeching lemon. This is a 10/10 smell wise, but my god is it weak.

I sprayed SMW on one wrist and Metal Rain on the other.. and you can definitely tell the difference when they are directly compared. SMW is better in every way but I still really like MR too. They are in the same ballpark and the comparison is apt but MR is a clear step down in overall quality. For the price its a no brainer though. The bottle is high quality and the fragrance is a great value for the price. 7.5/10

Black currant is the star of this creation, also bright juicy citrus that lasts, very nice summery uplifting scent. Im not familiar with SMW or its clones, to me this smells quite unique. You can pick up tea notes and few other top-mids. It doesnt get too heavy at the dry down retaining that bright energy of the opening. For discounter $20-$25 this is a steal. Quality is well above average.

This one is really good. Honestly a lot of the Banana Republic scents I have tried have turned out to be really good. This is a clean freshie that has a pleasant and uplifting smell to it. Going to for sure get a back up bottle of this one as I keep the other one in my car. For $13 at Burlington you really can't go wrong with it. Recommended for sure.

This is absolutely the poor man's Silver Mountain Water, and that's not a mark against it either. It's not 1:1, so don't go thinking it is. But if you've smelled SMW then you'll immediately be reminded of it in the best way. If you enjoy the scent, it's a dumb reach for the low price.

Just bought a 3.4fl.oz from ROSS for $15.99, Absolute steal. its like a 70-80% SMW dupe but just looking at it by itself as is, its a great everyday scent for Spring through summer. I see this SHINING at nighttime for a bar or a date dinner. Rate: 7.8/10

To me this scent is a cross between Creed SMW and Creed MI (Millisime Imperiale) the citrus from SMW and the metallic feel from MI. It's a nice scent if you don't have either, and you can't beat the price compared to the other two mentioned.

This is a personal favorite of mine. It's my summer time casual signature scent. It's a perfect blend between Silver Mountain Water and Millesime Imperial.

Cheap, very similar to Silver Mountain Water, and performs well. 10/10

Last longer on clothes, it is good for layering .

I passed this up how many times? Such an idiot! I finally broke down and picked this up for a song. Mind you, that's still after one last pass-over for a different Icon Collection scent which I turned out to like so much less than Metal Rain! Now that I've worn it enough to form a valid opinion (yeah, that's a real thing people should do) I'm here to tell ya: just buy the damn bottle! On my skin (yours will vary) this starts out with this really rounded and creamy lemon ice. It's not like a cleaning product lemon (but maybe, kinda, in a sorta type of way) but more of a vanillic lemon with a sharp coolness that is separate from the zest. It really is hard to describe. I assume this is the ozonic or metalic molocules of the scent but it clings to that lemon like a passenger on a life raft. I mean, you know there's room on that door for both, but it just hangs on for a while before drifting down to memory. It seems like the lavender and violet leaf start to drive the atmospheric scent off in a weak baby-powdery way before turning brighter and greener one last time. It could be the green tea vibes but the lemon is still holding fast on my skin. Not unrelenting, just subtly vibing the way a crisp zest will linger on an Old Fashioned glass after the bourbon has been drained and the ice has begun its slow journey back to water. The ghost of a brighter moment in time. In the deep dry-down it hints at woodiness but it feels like a mirage. Maybe it's there, maybe it isn't. Who can say? If there is a woody scent its out there on the horizon the way a forest holds the prairie in place. It wraps up with a soft velvety-ness before lingering on as a skin scent for a while. On my skin, I get about three hours of soft transition with little projection and less sillage, and another 2 hours or so of gentle skin scent. But that's not a bad thing. That isn't what this scent is about. It's not a bullhorn announcing your arrival; it's a touch on the shoulder offering you an upgrade to the VIP room. If you need something louder and more energetic there are literal thousands of other fantastic scents for that. Don't down-vote a great scent on performance when performance isn't the lane it is meant to be in. This is an up-close scent. A whisper in the ear. This one says, "Let's get to know each other a little better. Maybe do brunch. Shall I call you, or nudge you?"

This is not bad at all. Blind buy but I have become so confident in my choices from Banana Republic. At first you get a ton of lemon and green from the violet leaf and basil, some very soft currant. The middle notes start to come through and this is where I feel that it does start getting a slight metallic/mineral hint to it. The mid notes and the green from the top give it slightly note. The lavender comes through as well. The base notes are not that strong which is why the performance on this is not the greatest. I get just about all the base notes but all on the light side. The green and mid notes do last a bit to me. Overall it's fresh green ozonic and ambrocenide. I don't mind the weak performance when the price is right . But Creed SMW isn't really known for its performance and that's what people compare this to so I can't really hate on it that much when what it most resembles is t that great either. This is going to project for a good hour. It will reach the intimate skin scent phase at about the 2 hour mark. Totally gone in 4. Super versatile, I can't think of an occasion it wouldn't work in. Overall I have to give this a solid 6.5/10

It starts with black currant and tart lemon, balanced out by the green pepperiness of violet and basil, not quite as metallic as Sillage or Silver. As it settles in the heart it gets more aquatic and aromatic, with notes of lavender, green tea, and galbanum -- in the late heart I get a tiny bit of a salty watermelon, but I'm not sure if I'm imagining it. The base is creamy sandalwood and musky cashmere wood. It gets a little sweet, but never ends up feeling heavy. Of my 4 SMW interpretations/twists I think it's now my 2nd favorite behind Sillage, ahead of Prive Platinum and Silver, and I think it's because of the twists of the peppery black currant and light salty watermelon.

This seems to smell different to assist lot of different people after reading the comments. Here's what I get: first I get a blast of black currant that actually gives a blackberry vibe along with the violet leaf kinda watery/slightly metallic note. Smoothed out with the light basil, tea and ozonic notes in the mid. Soft woods to round it out. I think it's very good in the right situation. Mostly casual daytime or as a SOTN to wind down after a shower. I do get vibes of this from the far dry down of Mefisto Gentiluomo, like 6 or 7 hours into Mefisto G.

The best inexpensive cologne I own. A very unobtrusive green fragrance with slight water tones. On me, the open is very citrus, but then the greens quickly dominate (which I love for summer). Definitely every occasion, office or casual. If you collect greens, this is between Gucci Guilty black and Ralph’s Club. A little less sweet than Ralph’s but not as sharp as Gucci. I would buy this over Gucci all day. Lasts way longer. The ozone notes keep it from smelling like an 80s car salesman that doesn’t pay child support.

As others have noted, this is perhaps the most appropriately named fragrance ever. Smells just like the name. All seasons, any time anywhere type of scent. I don’t know if it smells like SMW, but it does remind me a bit of Ck One essence. As with all BR fragrances performance leaves a bit to be desired, but it is by no means terrible. BR has become one of my favorite houses, the price to quality ratio is great and their scents always over deliver. Another sleeper that deserves some more attention.

This has a bit of the 90s Gap/Banana Republic vibe mixed with Creed Aventus and CK One. Definitely a clean, crisp 90s vibe. I like it. It’s masculine leaning but neutral enough to be unisex. I just got it and wear it on hot days. It’s a bit sweet, citrusy and woody. I want to say there’s a juniper berry in it but it’s not listed in the notes.

Great freshie, especially for the price. Blended well and not overly synthetic smelling. Every time I would wear one of these Banana Republics, I'd develop a cough - I can only assume I had some kind of allergy. I gave it to my friend who loves it, along with rest of the Icon lineup.

Unisex floral on a fruity/metallic musky backbone. It's quite good. People say it is a clone of Silver Mountain Water but this has some more light airy touches of Millesime Imperial in it and GIT too. I will update this review with more wearing. Smells fantastic so far.

Pretty good, somewhat oldschool smelling. It feels good quality, citrus, blackurrant and a slightly musky and smooth drydown. Lasts some 5 hours and projection is more on the lower side, though still noticeable. For the price, its great. Try before buying.

Really nice mix of citrus, woods, and a beautiful green tea note! Got this for $20 at Burlington as a blind buy. Definitely not mad at this purchase. An easy grab for when you want a clean scent that isn’t just another run of the mill blue fragrance.

Metal Rain won’t impress you with huge projection, but it wins with atmosphere. It captures the feeling of cool rain on metal and glass surprisingly well, making it one of the more unique fragrances in Banana Republic’s Icon Collection.

Disappointing. I love the way it goes on, some citrus and metallic with a touch of floral. I swear, it lasts 10 minutes and then I don't smell it anymore. I really want to like it but I am glad I only bought the 1 oz bottle.

Very nice scent it's clean yet has a bit of dryness to it and nice aromatics from the current. I sometimes wear this to sleep and before bed so that tells you how polarizing it is. Very good scent, very inoffensive.

Unisex, watery, natural lemon. Creatively nuanced with spicy basil and green tea. Very faint, off-putting currant. Airy petrichor accord. Reminiscent of Guiding Water by The Harmonist. Pretty good stuff!

To me this smells like a hybrid of Silver Mountain Water and A&F Fierce.

This smells like an aquatic/ozonic lavender. After the first 5-10 minutes, you can begin to detect a bit of the black currant and tea notes as well a bit of the cashemeran. About 15 minutes in, after the lavender has subsided, is when the fragrance is best however the fragrance barely projects at this point. The fragrance continues to get better as it dries down but after 30 mins it is already a skin scent. The fragrance, as the name and bottle color would imply, is a dark/ozonic scent best suited for rainy days. Metal Rain is actually very similar to Narciso Rodriguez for Him. The only difference is that Metal Rain doesn’t have patchouli/amber in its base so it doesn’t share that “licorice” type accord that’s present in “For Him”. *If not for the soapy lavender, I would highly recommend the scent profile. However due to the prominent lavender in the fragrance and the horrible performance I could only rate this a 5.5/10.

This is a masculine leaning unisex fragrance. It has citrus touches in it that very much remind me of CK IN2U for her which is in itself very unisex and could easily be worn by a man. I've never smelled IN2U for him so I can't compare. Overall, I wouldn't say that it's primarily woody and ozonic like the main accords list suggests, I find it fits into a citrus, woody, green scent profile better. People who like citruses will appreciate this. I can't help but smell the lemon, so it's not exactly what I imagine "metal rain" to smell like. It's not really rainy at all, I find it to be much more of a sunny fragrance.

I hardly ever complain about performance and usually ok with anything that lasts even 3 hours because I get bored fast and don't really like to force my scent on people from across a room but this is just terrible performance. I can't smell unless I put my nose right in it and even then its gone within a hour. From what I can smell of it I can say its a very clean scent but can't recommend for any purpose except shelf decoration or to complete a collection of the entire line. This whole line does not perform well but this one is just a ghost of a scent all together. 5/10

The lemon opening smells great. Got a 1 oz. bottle at Burlington for $12.99. I like these little bottles I keep them in my pocket at work and reapply every 2 hours. Nice clean office scent. Nothing that's going to blow you away but worth the money. (Like) Note : After wearing this for the last two nights, I can tell you the longevity on this is terrible. The opening lemon lasts 10 minutes and what it dries down to is gone in 90 minutes. At any price, this is not worth it. Typical from BR - nice scent doesn't last at all.

Honestly the name is a pretty good indication of how this smells. It’s about 80% similar to SMW by creed. SMW is just a bit better blended imo. This would make a great office scent if it lasted longer. I only get about 2-3 hours of longevity and 45 minutes of projection. However, I found it does last well on clothes (~6-7 hours). I mainly use this for the gym since I only need a couple hours anyway. The notes I mainly pick up are the black currant, ozonic notes, sandalwood, and musk. I would rate this a 7.3/10

Nice safe scent, Very Lemon forward .... bit of lavender and violet in there somewhere , but not enough to break away from the lemon Dry down on my skin doesnt exist , and the fragrance is gone completly within an hour, even on paper or clothing it does remind me of Club de Nuit Sillage Armaf, but that is a waste of money and a complete mess of a fragrance. its a cheapy but not worth it it even at the low price point, purely because it just doesnt last long enough to enjoy it -

got it a while back and its alright. The performance is weak for me 1-2hours and after that is sits closely to the skin. I don't get any "metal" or "rain" although its a cool name for a perfume (exact reason i got it). Scent wise its a lot of citrus, and it smells like an airplane candy tastes, the ones they give you before take-off, its the best way i can out it. Overall its just alright, use it as my gym scent because it is kinda fresh

Nice fresh scent. Max performance i get is around 1 hr then becomes very faint. Never by this at full price. But if you find one at discount price around 25-30 USD then it's worth a try.

Blind bought on account of the accords listed.agree with the lean towards it being a unisex smell. It’s nothing special , don’t really get the wood aspect out of it personally , doesn’t really last that well on my skin either . A relatively cheap wear for work scent.

I was going to get Armaf Club Sillage for a Silver Mountain Water clone, but saw the reviews on this one. I got it specifically because I didn't want a clone, but something similar, which is what the reviews were saying. I think that's about right. It is very similar to SMW. Close enough, but not a 1:1, it's its own thing. I haven't tried Sillage, but if you want a 1:1, you might want that instead of this. It also reminds me of something else that I can't quite figure out. One YouTube reviewer said it has elements of SMW, Millisime Imperial, and Himayala, which I think is right. Theres something else I'm getting, some aquatic note, maybe a bit of Acqua di Gio Profondo, but not very pronounced. A metallic note, maybe a bit like Platinum Egoiste. It's clean citrus, a bit aquatic, a bit metallic, like the name suggests. Not stellar performance for an edp, but I get a good 5 hours out of it before it becomes a skin scent. Not bad for 20 bucks at Burlington. Tl;dr - Close to SMW, but not a 1:1. Blind buy safe if you like Silver Mountain Water, Millisime Imperial, Himalaya, Platinum Egoiste type of clean citrus.

First Impressions: Just picked this up at Burlington—a 2.5oz bottle for $19.99. I’ve been on the hunt for the 1oz, but with the holidays, it seems only larger sizes are in stock. Right off the bat, Metal Rain reminds me of Silver Mountain Water (SMW), but it definitely stands on its own. It shares some overlapping notes like black currant, green tea, and galbanum. However, if you compare them side by side, the differences become clear. The mid is where I notice the strongest resemblance to SMW, with a fresh, metallic vibe—but it’s subtle. If you’re into that type of profile, you’ll probably enjoy this. For the most authentic SMW experience, I recommend Derby Club House Blanche—it’s as close as I’ve found to SMW, though its performance isn’t the strongest. If you’re after something reminiscent of SMW from 2013 with excellent longevity, Club de Nuit Sillage is a great choice. Metal Rain, on the other hand, makes a good fragrance for lounging around the house or quick errands. Its performance is light, lasting about 2-4 hours on my skin, but for the price, it’s hard to beat.

Metal Rain has the coolest name in the Icon Collection, full stop. The fragrance? Essentially it's a retread of Millésime Imperial with a smattering of Silver Mountain Water (and a fittingly proximate dry-down of Green Irish Tweed, which is what both MI and SMW dry down to). Surprisingly it's gentle, with a soft, nuanced approach to cloning I rarely see - it doesn't go all loud and screechy-sweet berries-from-grunge-hell on me two hours in. I get the false currant sweetness, but it's tempered, of a higher caliber, and blended with a pleasantly watery violet leaf and melon-like accent that evokes all things green and fresh. There's even a subtle green tea note tucked in there also. Recommended.
