Slate

EXCELLENT 8/10 as far as scent profile and wearability and being an all around uplifting, pleasant fragrance. Banana Republic Slate for Men fragrance is dirt cheap and is extremely linear ... but also is extremely bright, uplifting and pleasant. I would call it a Spicy Green Floral. Clary Sage isn't like culinary sage that's typically used for cooking, but instead it provides vegetal (green) qualities as well as perceived clean, masculine FLORAL qualities that mix with the heavy dose of spicy ginger which creates a beautiful, spicy herbal floral fragrance. I'm a huge fan of woody florals and herbal/green florals and this simple fragrance combines everything to near perfection and at a super budget friendly price. If you already enjoy Banana Republic Classic GREEN perfume, then you will most definitely enjoy this fragrance, too. So ... buy it ... overspray it and ENJOY it for around 3-4 hours max.

My lovely girlfriend recommended for me to get this and I did since she has great taste. Cost me around 25 ish dollars and that was around August of last year, 100 ml. This fragrance is very nice, i don’t like describing fragrances by vague accords or by notes that don’t make sense, but to ME and from the batch I got, it’s both a floral and aromatic spicy smell. The ginger obviously giving it that spice but the clary sage mixing smoothly and giving it a smell that goes great during the hotter days. Spring time stunner, especially for rainy days or just cooler sunny ones, the one downside is longevity so definitely overspray and apply some lotion. 8/10, just wish it lasted longer but overall amazing scent

I really love Slate. It's a sweet, clean, fresh and simple linear fragrance. It has quite a bit of character too. There is some herbal soapiness there which I love, plus I think it's unique. Longevity and silage are moderate. My bottle is the same shape but is just glass with a black top and the juice is purple. In fact, it's a lovely little bottle. Right now, I'm getting a beautiful silage wafting up from this. Jean-Marc Chaillan has blended this beautifully in my opinion. *Update* Slate hasn't got an effective silage and it's staying power is weak - shame. If this were more powerful, it would be a real gem.

Never smelled anything sexier than this cologne on a man. Sad it’s discontinued. Update: found it on Amazon and gifted it to my husband. (He accidentally opened my mail so I was bummed out because I wanted to surprise him, but he seemed to like it. He rarely wears cologne because he likes to use it when he’s going out and he’s mostly a homebody. I’ve only smelled it on someone else, and hoping it doesn’t give me mixed feelings about it when he does put it on. Smells gorgeous though.

Beautiful perfume, considering that it has only two notes in the composition. A fresh scent, with a little grassy scent and small metallic shades. Who loves Ck-one, Azzaro-Chrome, Lacoste-essential will surely like this one too. It has a little of each. Too bad it is no longer sold in its original form (wooden box and metal lid), now you can find it in a much cheaper presentation. But even so, it is still worth the money, around 20 € on some sites.

Slate is a clean fresh crisp scent that opens up with a grapefruit blast and has an almost mineral gem-like quality. The packaging/presentation is excellent, perfect for collectors and the bottle is nice. If you are new to fragrances this is a perfect one to start out with. I would say from teenagers up to 30 for a daily casual wear. Sadly it is harder to find and the ones that are available are at ridiculous prices.

This has been my go-to fragrance for about a decade. Fresh, clean, modern. So many men's colognes smell similar to me, but this fragrance stands out. Not extremely long-lasting, but I don't even care. Perfect for casual use, work, and going out, especially in spring and summer.

This perfume is gorgeous. BIG negative is performance. There must be florals in this though they're not listed. If this had good longevity and silage it would be in my top 20 of all time.

This and most Banana Republic scents are really good. This is a fantastic freshie. A definite compliment getter. Everytime!

First let me say I saw this at T.J Maxx for $20! This was the gift set. 1.7oz spray & 2.0 Shower Gel! I thought that was a great deal so I got it! Now I never smelled Slate up until yesterday when I first tried it on. There is a metallic, herbal, green pasture thing going on here.. Now this is not bad stuff. I kept getting whiffs of it throughout the day & the frag really does not move out of that whole metallic, herbal, green pasture formation. When I smell this, I get a sudden urge to eat! This is by no means a gourmet frag, but it does come off as having a sage note that 1 would use in dressing for thanksgiving! While the herbal note is there, it is over powered by the metallic note as it blends perfectly with the herbal note which seems to create a vision as if you were walking through green meadows! GRASS! A pleasant grass. The longevity was impressive! 6 hours! Projection seemed good as well! All in all this is a good modern day frag that surpasses alot in its time. I would give it 3 1/2 stars out of 5! Banana Republic has a winner with this 1!

Slate is a light, fresh, spicy, very green note summer scent for men. It opens with a blast of something citrusy (I think grapefruit) but in a minute appears the dominant note of clare sage with a tint of sweetness so discreet almost invisible with a floral pinch. The longevity is just nice with 3 hours maximun and the sillage is moderate. I reccomend it for summer and hot spring days. I like the juice and the design of the bottle!! I wish it had more longevity, the only reason for not buying it again.

Banana Republic SLATE is an utterly unisex fragrance. To my nose it is more of an oriental than an aromatic, and although I do appreciate both ginger and clary sage, it seems clear that a few other unnamed mystery notes are present as well. SLATE edt is light and fresh while still having a moderately spicy edge, but it fades fast, leaving only the barest soupcon of scent behind. Were it not for the poor staying power, I'd be buying a big bottle of this one--it really smells nice, while it lasts!

Slate is a light, floral fragrance that feels more unisex than masculine. It begins with a fresh burst that brings me to an open field that is not too far from the sea. It settles down to a soft sweetness that is slightly fruity, but unfortunately quickly evanesces. "Gone in less than an hour" would be this movie tagline.

It's a little different from the other day uses. It's clean, fresh and fruity. Lasts a nice period of time on my skin and I guess it's a casual cologne, that you can use to go to sunny open places, go for lunch with friends, family reunions or even go to watch a movie with your girlfriend.

I got this cologne as a Christmas gift from one of my clients. At first it smells really nice but a 1/2 hour later, NOTHING. It has absolutely no staying power. I wish the initial spray would last more, then I would like it better.

Good not incredible. Smells similar to Azzaro chrome, but slightly better. Pretty purple color, great for when you go to the gym or get out of the shower. The opening is a bit loud and bit too sweet, but the dry down is nice!

this IS a nice freshie. pleasant smelling and inoffensive. like others I find a floral note in the drydown, but it isn't strong enough to turn me off to this scent. so-so longevity.

I can't believe this contains only 2 notes and 2 fragrances! I think there are more. I find this a unique, easy-going, all-rounder scent. Quite long-lasting, too.

I like it, it’s your typical guy fragrance I get watery/beachy vibes from this. It reminds me of Azzaro Chrome. Incredibly weak performance though.
