Barbour Coastal For Her

I was at Macy's and saw this brand I never heard of. Well, the sales associate was trying to push me to more "masculine" fragrances (the typical, you know which ones). I explained to her nearly every fragrance to my nose is unisex. After some contest 🙄 i finally got the tester and I sprayed it on my skin and a tester strip. Barbour Coastal For Her initially comes off as softly spiced jasmine tea 🍵. The middle becomes hyper amplified from some florals but it's not overwhelming. It's an uplifting touch to a soft opening. The drydown was awesome with a great blend of all the florals 🌼 🌸 and wood beautifully balanced with oakmoss and amber. It stays like that throughout your wear. Definitely a nicely blended everyday cocktail that could be a signature scent. The projection was noticeable but not offensive. Sillage was kinda close to the skin on me. But it will for sure last a full work day. My critique is the price. $115.00 for 100ml (3.4 oz) and for a designer I had no personal connection or rapport with? (I don't want to pay full price then months later see it for $20 in Ross, Burlington or TJMAXX) If this is a Macy's exclusive and you love it. Go for it. BUT ******* if you're not near a Macy's and can't test it, go to your local perfume store and test Gucci Guilty Absolute pour Femme. It's available at discounters online so after testing it you can make a more informed decision. Gucci Guilty Absolute pour Femme has the peppery, Cypress, mossy touch that I think may be in the same ball park. Scent: 6/10 Performance: 6/10 Value: 6/10 Overall: 18/30

The fragrance opens up as spicy and fresh. I could definitely get the cypress and guessed something like ginger (apparently that was the pepper). It even has some marine and mineral touch to it in the opening. But I don’t like the dry down which is all about oak moss that smells a little like ammonia to my nose (many people don’t get this). Try on your skin before buying.

This is very peppery and not to my taste at all. To my nose it is neither fresh nor spicy, but something in between and it is not to my liking. A hard pass. And I green that it is very unisex.

The fresh black pepper in the opening is gorgeous & it seems like it's going to blossom into a beautiful & complex fragrance. But unfortunately, it almost instantly goes to chypre & cedar/lemon cleaning product. Maybe a hint of Amber. It doesn't smell cheap & it's not a scrubber despite the cleaning product note. I think if some of the floral notes & musk listed would appear, it would be wonderfully balanced but they don't. So, I feel it would be best for layering on me w something sweet. This would suit husband's chemistry better than mine. His skin presents sourish scents much better than mine. It's not unlike many perfumes on the market today. Sillage & longevity are not great. Much lemon cleaner vibes on me.
