Seville

= SEVILLE = Tart citrus opening transitioning to a sleek sexy lavender, moss, and spice drydown. Hints of patchouli too. Really really nice. In concept and vibe, similar to Eau Sauvage but they're very distinct. Seville is a clearly more lavender and spice, whereas Eau Sauvage is more lemon, rosemary, and herbs expressed in a dry, earthy fashion. I love this enough that I'm probably getting a bottle...which leads to one downside. The largest size is 50ml for $49.99...it's even more expensive than Dior Eau Sauvage, which I usually get a 200ml for about $150. Worth it, but not great value. Scent: 8.5 / Sillage: 7.5 / Longevity: 7 = GRAND CHYPRE = Classic chypre in the style of Chanel Pour Monsieur, Rochas Moustache EDT, and Dior Eau Sauvage, but more dense, earthy, tart, and a bit more dirt and funk. Dry and classy. Whereas Seville starts from Dior Eau Sauvage and goes more herbal, lavender, and spicy, this starts closer from Chanel Pour Monsieur and goes earthier with a bit of tartness and funk. Very nice, but not necessarily needed in my chypre heavy rotation. Maybe tho... Scent: 8 / Sillage: 7.5 / Longevity: 7 = SPICE = Warm, cozy, nutmeg, cinnamon, musk, and hints of wood. Wonderful. A richer, classier, more natural version of Old Spice. Really great actually. Man...tempted to get this too. Scent: 8 / Sillage: 7.5 / Longevity: 7 = CHESHIRE = Bergamot, early grey tea, spices, hints of cinnamon and sweetness. Warm, cozy, English countryside house with a fireplace vibe. Very nice, but not something I'd wear regularly? Maybe...on the fence. Enjoying it while I have it. Scent: 7.5 / Sillage: 7 / Longevity: 7 = COLOGNE RUSSE = Citrus, lavender, bergamot, and a bit of earthy funk. Reminded me of Guerlain / Guerlainade vibes of french perfumery. Like Givenchy Pour Monieur? I swear, I wrote Guerlainade before reading Barrister's description which specifically mentions old school Guerlain as an inspiration. It's very classy and old school traditional cologne, which means a bit of funk and herbal base. Very nice...not necessarily something I'd wear all the time but would love to experience this every now and then. Scent: 8 / Sillage: 7 / Longevity: 7 = WAVES = Aquatic, lavender, hints of citrus...triggered my scent memory and really reminds me of something. At first I thought old school original formulation Aqua di Gio? I'm not sure...but it was a great memory and loved the scent. Wasn't expecting this...I thought it would be an overly synthetic modern aquatic, but this smells natural, smooth, and deep. Not screechy, artificial, and shallow. Kind of love this. Scent: 8 / Sillage: 7 / Longevity: 7 = COOL = Supposed to mimic the discontinued classic Floid Blue. I find it to be zesty, slightly slightly blue, bit barbershop, but more of a subtle citrus with hint soft lavender, but more of a dry tobacco leaf base. I don't have Floid blue but I have Epsilon Blue Mediterranean and it is noticeably more fresh, lighter, and less tobacco/heavier in the drydown. It does have a good amount of cooling menthol, just like Epsilon Blue, so good for summers. I'm not sure I love it...smells a little too strong and heavier in the drydown than I typically like. Maybe it'll grow on me, but for now, it's good, not great. Scent: 6.5 / Sillage: 7.5 / Longevity: 7.5 = LAVENDER = Wonderful...I expected a simple, linear lavender scent, but this seems much fresher, deeper, complex, and interesting than I imagined. It's still mostly just lavender but with a lively freshness and depth I did not expect. And leans blue, as others have mentioned. Really pleasant and relaxing. I might actually get the aftershave for this Scent: 8.5 / Sillage: 7 / Longevity: 7 = LAVANILLE = Nice...similar lavender, tho softened and rounded with a dusty natural smelling vanilla. I'm not too crazy about the vanilla tho...it's obviously high quality and natural, but has a certain dusty, old world vibe about it, which lends it complexity and depth but one I'm not used to. Maybe I am used to a creamier or more artificial vanilla. Definitely interesting, but not a love for me. Scent: 7 / Sillage: 7 / Longevity: 7.5

Powdery citrus opening with enough spice to add some extra depth. The citrus fades after an hour or two, leaving a soft, powdery oakmoss spice, and clean patchouli that lasts for hours on my skin. I get projection for up to 8 hours, then an extremely pleasant just above the skin scent. This smells very classic and vintage, while at the same time being a bit fresh and modern. Thsi is a fantastic warm weather scent. Price is very fair considering what is being offered at the fragrance counters these days costs just as much, or more usually. If you shave, be sure to get the shave soap and especially the aftershave splash to fully immerse yourself in this one.

Dubbed "God's Barbershop" by fans, Seville is a lovely barbershop scent. Starts off with a fresh and powerful citrus blast, dries down to lavender and intensive oakmoss back with hints of leafy patchouli and rosemary. Seville is a simple juice; a proven concept perfected. Performance is comparable to Eau Sauvage with a strong opening sillage and a soft projection and wispy innofensive trail in the drydown. 4-6 hours longevity, but it is amazing while it lasts. Perfect for a classy springtime scent for a day golfing, going to meetings, going to performances, fine dining, or just smelling like a classic man.

The Ultimate Barbershop Scent; the smell of colognes, antiseptics, alum blocs, oils, shaving foam, talcum powder, even the chair!!! A must-have or try at the very least for any serious fragrance lover (fraghead)...

Despite not loving barbershop frags, this one is very well done and does not smell dated at all. You can pick out every note in the pyramid plus maybe a hint of spices (nutmeg? clove?). The opening is nice, no question about the citrus brightness. However, blending is crude with some dissonance between the fresh tart lemon and the smooth woody base until the citric notes dissipate. Once they do, the remaining scent is linear for the rest of its time but pleasant and high-quality. For me, this is a lavender-smoothed, herb-kissed, softly aromatic wood fragrance. Traditionally masculine, classic and classy, easy-wearing. Medium-plus longevity with low-medium projection. I get the comparison to Eau Sauvage, but its heart floral notes (particularly jasmine) and vetiver base create a more well-rounded-scent and honestly, put it in another league altogether.

This is a beautiful barbershop scent. I love B&M, and this will always be one in my rotation, if I can help it. Excellent performance on my skin, gives off a great citrusy vibe at first, then fades to more of the lavender. I get a good 4-6 hours on this one, which seems reasonable. I recently acquired a bottle of Eau Sauvage and this reminds me a lot of that fragrance. There are a lot of shared notes. Maybe cousins of sorts. Both are wonderful!
