Chai

I have finally found the chai tea fragrance we all are searching for! No it is not remember me. Surprisingly. Before this morning, it was a tossup between that one and Blue Madeline. No more! It is now baruti chai and I am just as surprised as you are. This brand is very experimental and very indie. I have not tried everything from this brand as of yet so I haven't made a formal opinion about whether or not I recommend this brand as a whole. I have tried oh my deer! And let's just say, these two fragrances cannot be farther apart. That one is tough to wear by everyone’s standards and my hat goes off to the person that can pull it off. I'm sure there is someone out there who can! And I don't particularly think it's a bad fragrance, but it is definitely musky. This one on the other hand, is one of their more mainstream fragrances. It simply is a great cup of chai tea. Perhaps been brewing for longer than usual just because of how intense it is. And that's pretty much it! If you can imagine a high quality chai tea in every sense of the word, this is what you have in front of you. If you put honey in your tea, you get a little bit of that in this as well. And of course you have the signature base that has a little bit of animal behavior. But it's all pretty straightforward. A beautiful chai tea scent and one of the best from the brand. That's all that needs to be said. I highly recommend if you are looking for something like this or you are a fan of remember me etc.

This perfume surprised me as it wasn't what I expected from a chai scent, but I was impressed nonetheless. At first spray, it's mainly leather and spices. It made me think of antique shops where there's a nondescript smell like incense lingering in the air among the dust—earthy, spicy, and smoky. The spices were very cardamom and pepper-forward, with some ginger peaking through but not a lot. There was a bit rose floating around in there somewhere at first too. It stays like this for about the first two hours. At the two-hour mark, the black tea starts to shine through rich and a bit earthy. Still in the antique shop, but they brought you a fresh cup of tea to enjoy while you peruse their wares. Then, the spices and leather back off a bit and let the tea be the star of the scent. It gets a little sweeter around the three or four-hour mark with the vanilla, musk, and milk slowly but persistently emerging. This has great longevity, lasting about 10 hours on me. Like I said, it's not a photorealistic chai tea/latte but it is a wonderful and intriguing take on it. I'm not a fan of leather in fragrances but I love this nevertheless as the leather is more manageable and balanced by some other notes.

Baruti Chai is a wonderfully aromatic gourmandish oriental. It's my new favourite. The pronounced black tea note is dark and delicious, the milk is warm and creamy, the cocoa powder adds some dryness, then a pinch of ginger joins in with a mild zesty kick in the background. I can also smell the cardamom but but not too much, my skin tends to highlight cardamom in most fragrances but in this one the cardamom is masterfully blended to create a warm, spicy accord. Fantastic fragrance, I recommend to oriental gourmand lovers, it's a delight to the senses, not to sweet and deliciously complex. It's an Extrait de Parfume so the longevity is excellent, so is the sillage. It's going to be one of my staples for the upcoming colder months for sure.

This is a mesmerising scent that has turned quite a few heads in my office! I bought a bottle a couple of weeks ago, and this is hands down the most realistic Chai perfume I've ever smelled in my life. I've had people consistently come up to me every day for the past two days asking what I'm wearing and where they can get it too. A warm, comforting bottle of deliciousness. I remember the first time I ever sprayed it in a shop, I sprayed it on my scarf and it lasted about 3 months on the scarf - the longevity is beastly. On the skin, I can smell it for 24-48 hours (if I don't shower haha) but even after the shower it still sometimes smells. Really well rounded, balanced and addictive. 10/10 - my new favourite.

I've been hunting for a good chai latte-type scent that isn't just a slightly different vanilla/caramel and this is super good! 5/5 for me :) Peppery spices, with a strong cinnamon and clove presence, that reminds me of a local tea/crystal shop and incense. While it doesn't smell edible, like a chai latte, it's really pleasant and cozy! Be warned though, if you or anyone who lives with you is sensitive to scents, this one is room-fillingly strong! A spritz on each wrist and each side of the neck is more than enough to surround you for hours. Update: I wore this on a date and woke up the next day still smelling like spices! Definitely plan to buy a full bottle in the future!

Though I'm still new to fragrance, Angels' Share and Chai are the only FBW samples so far—probably because they're both delicious warm cinnamon bombs. Chai is so reminiscent of the drink that it blows my mind. I get black tea, mixed spices, and milkiness. I don't get rose or leather, which I'm happy about. It's a straightforward scent in that it smells like chai, nothing more, nothing less. It comes across as a daytime scent. When I think of black tea, I think of breakfast and sunrises. I wore this for the first time on a sunny, cold winter morning, and felt so...right. Like I knew my frag matched the vibe.

Gorgeous, true chai. Lots of clove, lots of cardamom, fresh ginger, fresh black pepper, and the signature baruti quality, which is a honeyed, balsamic, waxy quality. Long lasting perfume, I love this line, one spray will last all day. High price here is so justified. I've tried this before a few times. If I didn't have so many warm spicy balsamic scents already I'd buy this. Maybe one day! In the meantime I have my beautiful gourmand chai teas to sip straight from India - smells exactly like this! Especially with some good honey.

Don't let the untrained, newby noses mislead you - if all you are used to smelling is designer fragrances, your nose may not know how to interpret this scent. However, let me tell you this: Chai is a phenomenal parfum. It is absolutely gorgeous and is beast mode. I have Chai, Perverso, Nooud and Berlin im Winter from this brand, and if i had to recommend 2, i would definitely go with Chai and Perverso. Both are perfect 10s for me, and I am always going to have a bottle of each in my collection

My second scent I have sampled from Baruti. This is an extremely accurate representation of chai tea, full of cinnamon, clove, ginger, tea, and everything else one would smell from such a drink. If you enjoy that smell, you should enjoy this. I don't find it a challenging scent at all. Longevity and overall performance are great, as one would expect from this house. A little will go a long way.

Very nice tea scent, an elegant rose/ cardamom sort of artisan tea, nothing tacky about it. It's not really the kind of tea fragrance I'm after, but - very good. Update: dug this out in cold weather, and - love! For me, it's a delicious chocolate rose, a perfect balance between sweetness and spice. Dries down to a textured, sensuous powder. Bliss.

This is my absolute favorite from the sample set. Overall, many fun profiles like Hot Cotton and and Indigo (another nice one). The name says it. Certainly a nice spiced milk tea. Slightly sweetened of course. It generates a comforting bubble around you (at least on me) and it takes no effort to "drink" it in. Cozy and enjoyable.

I've had this lovely perfume for a moment now, and I'm starting to really notice the rose and musk nuances. If you spray lightly, the drydown will start revealing itself to be a floral musky chai. Really beautiful. * If anyone in the UK wants to swap a sample of this for something ambery / niche / tropical / green get in touch! *

Funny enough, when I sprayed this the first time, it wasn't love at first sniff. But a few hours later, the spices, the lactonic notes and the black tea really come together to do some sort of magic that grows on you. Very photorealistic spicy milk tea fragrance. If you're a chai lover, then I definitely recommend.

Amazing scent. Not usually a fan of gourmands but this is epic. Is exactly what it says on the bottle. Caution: may be tempting to drink it! It smells soo edible - its actually incredible. Spicy and sweet (but not cloyingly sweet) and the milky tea in the background - literally a cup of Chai.

It was on my wishlist and was hoping to get it. But as a surprise my uncle n cousin got me this as my b day gift and im happy. It smells amazing. It reminds me of the best drink ever chai karak. It’s like a milk tea mixture. I love it. Worth every penny

This is hands down the best gourmand fragrance I've ever smelled in my life. Absolutely astonishing stuff. Not exactly for the summer months I guess but will be wearing it a lot during winter/autumn. Bravo bravo.

This is deeper and richer than that - but if someone accused it of smelling like a candle then I would understand.

Baruti Chai impresses me. Considering it has so many things in it that have the potential to overwhelm (e.g. cinnamon, pepper, leather), it never does. It could be a study on the subtle use of spice in perfumery. If Opium, Cinnabar and Jungle l'Elephant are rough, Chai is smooth and polished. Chai is more like a suggestion of the beverage, rather than the literal beverage. This is preferable to me because as much as I adore authentic masala chai, I'd rather not smell like I bathed in it. Instead, what I get smells like strong sandalwood and something wonderfully smoky, like a singed piece of bark. The perfume is marvelously sandalwoody on me, and I am baffled that there is no mention of woods anywhere on the internet because it is perhaps more sandalwood on me than anything else (works for me!). There is something like mint in it, but it blends beautifully with the other notes, perhaps to imbue the scent of fresh, green cardamom husks. I don't actually detect any cardamom; one of my favorite spices to cook with, I am quite familiar with the scent. I also notice fresh ginger from time to time as well as gentle hand of Saigon cinnamon and a hint of savory black pepper. Then there is my favorite part--one of the most perfect and gorgeous *non-vanillic* creamy accords I have ever smelled, and I can not get enough of it! It smells like a cup of warm, sweetened milk. It was at the 10-hour mark that I felt there could be any vanilla at all. It projects well enough for my liking for hours, though never a sillage monster, heavy, or cloying. Longevity is excellent. I don't take this as the literal scent of chai, nor did I ever expect it to be based on the notes, which list things that I have never seen in any authetic chai recipe, much less drunk: leather, rose, musk, cocoa. It does not even read as gourmand on my skin, rather a floral-woody-musk. In any case, Chai is a definite winner!

54th I think this is a well composed scent. The black tea note is realistic, tannic(?), bitter, robust, and the spices are descent. It is not the chai I am acquainted with, as this needs more spices in my opinion and less of that very sweet burnt caramel note. I like the burnt caramel note (made from a combination of other notes?), but since it is the dry-down, it smells pretty linear for a long time and it really stays with you. There is some off note that another reviewer pointed out, but it’s hard to pinpoint what makes this chai a little off, other than different from the burnt caramel note. It also has very sweet vanilla. Basically it’s like chai creme brûlée. I do like it a lot and it is well made; I just wish there was a smaller size, because this is powerful stuff and I don't see myself reaching for it too often. It’s like a perfume dessert along the lines of unknown pleasures, a lemon creme brûlée tart. 7/10 Warning Edit: While I like this spiced black tea creme brûlée, it has come to me that the off note is CUMIN. It is not listed, but once all the other notes burn off, it’s screaming. Too bad. Still looking for a perfect chai tea without notes that don’t belong there (ex: tea for two with cigarette ashes).

Very high quality. Tea extract smoothed with lactonic sandalwood and embellished with heaps of spice, a bold ginger accord sitting right in the center. In fact the dry down continues being heavily gingery and woodier. My problem with it is that lacks a bit in the terms of uniqueness, for example I could name two fragrance off the top of my head, Five O'Clock Au Gingembre Serge Lutens and Costume National Homme that evoke a very similar spiced chai tea effect with a 60-70% similarity while also being much more wearable. Both of the aforementioned have a smoother dry down too. For the 350$ mark per 100ml I would expect either more innovation or more of a wow factor that I personally haven't found here. That being said, if you are looking for picture perfect chai you will not find a better fragrance out there.

This instantly transports me to a crisp morning in Uttarakhand, burning my lips sipping from a tiny steel cup. Photorealistic chai with a bold and abundant blend of cardamom, cinnamon, and clove swirled in creamy milk. It is stunning even if a little too edible. On my skin the spices are just a touch stale, like they've spent a little too much time in a cardboard box. I think this is the dirty/bitter note other people are picking up on. I actually don't mind it, I think it helps balance out the sweetness and makes the dry-down a little muskier which is my preference. I'm curious how this would compare to Jaipur Chai by Ineke. Overall, this is a nice switch from By the Fireplace, my favorite boozy sweet and spicy gourmand, but not wearable enough to justify a whole bottle.

Opening dry and spicy. This is cardamom done well and it enhances the cinnamon lending an exotic vibe. It doesn't hit hard like it does in kenzo L'Elephant. The black tea tempers the spices, so you get the richness without an off putting punch. The ingredients make a whole haze of a dry spicy slightly cacao leather scent. The cocoa rose heart is a nice pairing rather than the overdone cocoa/patch combo. I don't have anything like this in my collection so I really like its uniqueness. I'm not sure if I'd sport this as a female as I prefer very feminine scents but a woman can wear it, but on a man it be sexy hot.

a chai latte through and through but it maintains its warm spice and soft ginger touch so that it's not too muddled or dimmed down by the milk and vanilla. It's definitely milky with the perfect amount of sweetness, but refined. I do find ginger to be regularly annoying as a note, but here it feels less sharp than most other fragrances, and not as spiced, just earthy, fresh, slightly zingy. I will say as it dries down I'm not the biggest fan of the stemmy rose that peaks out, as it feels out of place. Doesn't ruin the scent but does make it feels cohesive/well blended to me.

It calms down after a few hours, but at the beginning it is just TOO caustic and metallic for me. There is a slight bitter note that dominates at the start, and this, unfortunately, colours my perception. It might be the tea, the cardamom and the cloves which create the accord, maybe also the leather, and it's just too much at the beginning... After it calms down, it becomes quite a spicy, milky and delicious scent, but you need to wade through a bit too much to get there...

on first spray, you get a big hit of cinnamon and pepper—it kind of reminds me of those spicy cinnamon candies (idk the name). but that fades quickly, turning into a creamy, cardamom-y vanilla with cloves and faint spices still lingering in the background, super lactonic. as it settles, the tea note really starts to come through. i can definitely pick up some ginger too. overall, it’s super comforting—exactly like sipping on a warm cup of chai with a hint of rose water.

Deep, spicy and little smoky tea scent with sweet and hot milk notes. Bright cinnamon and cardamom blend. Really nice warming scent, but it also has unpleasant note that reveals itself if you inhale it too much and smells like an old grease or something (it might be a clove-ginger combo that puts me off, I don’t know). Yup that's a cup of chai - cardamom cinnamon rich black tea, at least to start. Milker vanilla and slightly floral on dry down. I really enjoyed the start and dry down. Fully settled I get more of a watered down cinnamon. Overall really enjoy this spicy treat of a scent. Prefer the opening.

This is not a chai latte, this is someone making actual chai. The first spray was strong with all of the spices (in a good way). The dry down is more palatable. I could imagine this being more of a chai latte if you layer with the right lactonic fragrance.

Open with black tea then gets into musk with milky boozy,sparkling spices. Very good, very unique. Great one. Very niche. Drydown so good and alluring. Longevity and projection enormous. Gives You vibe of shop with flowers.

This is my favorite Chai scent. It has a fullness that others are missing, that element of milk and tea to make it realistic.

This is not just chai; this is an endless "Mad Chai Party"! Different from last time, Alice isn’t sipping earl grey; she’s been handed a boldly spiced masala chai, while the Mad Hatter, the March Hare, and the Dormouse stay busy inventing nonsensical rules at the table. Tea time. The Cheshire Cat isn’t in this scene, but if he were, he’d flash every tooth he has and declare it anyway: Tea time. And this tea smells wrong. Not like it’s poured from a proper teapot; more like it’s been running through darkened, tarnished pipes before reaching the table. Even when it’s decanted into ornate, handled cups, that strange green-brown liquid somehow looks worse as it mingles with sour milk, turning into an even more unsettling shade. Alice gulps instinctively, bracing herself. She’s never drunk anything this aggressively spiced. It’s as if there are a hundred spices crammed in at once; cinnamon, clove, anise, black licorice, dry fennel and honestly, it could even be cumin. There’s even a faint cocoa-like nuance hovering in the background. And drifting in from the March Hare’s side of the room: a straw-like, barn-adjacent funk that keeps sneaking toward the tea table. I think it needs to be said there is an extrait de parfum and eau de parfum version. I personally blind bought an extrait de parfum. On initial sniff, it is a cardamom overdose and that's all you smell. Next I was hit with slight warmth of cinnamon, zest from ginger and nuttiness of the nutmeg. Its all then enveloped in this smokey black tea, that I think many interpret closer to incense-like and antique shop-like. It slowly and slowly reveals the naturally sweet lactonic/vanillic notes. It is definitely a more spice forward chai than the sweet chai drink we typically see in western countries. I can't exactly locate the rose, but its extremely well blended and hard to isolate each notes. Its olfactively provoking and an interesting formulation of chai in perfume. If you really enjoy spicy/gourmand fragrances I definitely think it's worth trying. I also highly suggest taking a good amount of time to sniff. Personally, it's ok. I won't wear it much but a fun addition to my collection! Excited to try other creations from Baruti!

I like the drydown! You get more of the rose, the vanilla, the musk. Unfortunately the initial spray was SUPER intense for me and kind of gave me a headache. I like chai and maybe this is me speaking as a dirty american but i'd like this more if the vanilla was a bit more prominent - as it is it doesn't taste very edible and for a photorealistic gourmand like this I'd want edible. Not sure though. If you like your chai without any sweetness at all this is for you.

*Sigh* I was sooo looking forward to a sweet, frothy chai scent here, but sadly this did not deliver. Though the elements are here, the blending is not as refined as it could be and the emphasis, for me at least, is in the wrong place. "Chai" is extremely spicy, perhaps to a fault. Piquant and peppery, with an intense clove and soapy ginger, the initial burst is sharp and slightly overwhelming. In the heart of the composition lies a dry, dusty rose and bitter black tea. I really wasn't expecting the rose to be so prominent, but its medicinal aspects are only amplified by the bitterness of the tea and clove. A dark cacao note -more evident on skin- casts a muggy haze over the whole composition, dulling the elements which I had expected to sparkle, notably cardamom and cinnamon, which are sadly all too faint here. There is a distinct lack of vanilla and I don't detect the smooth lactonic notes that others have spoken of. Rather than smelling like the sweet, milky glass of chai I was expecting, Baruti's interpretation smells more like a cupboard in which there are stored various boxes of spice infused teas all blended together into one indiscernible spicy fog. On my skin, it is even more disappointing. The notes blur into a musty alcohol smell that reminds me of whiskey o_0 In my opinion, a far more realistic chai scent is "Lumiére Blanche" by Olfactive Studio, which emphasizes cardamom, anise and cinnamon on top of a light sandalwood and tonka base. Unfortunately it's a poor performer, otherwise I would stick with that, but it seems my search for the perfect chai scent is not over.

On paper - I should love it as all notes (except for leather) I adore. I spray and Chai delivers what notes promise - fresh, slightly spicy but also a bit warm, lactonic. Unfortunately after maybe 30-45 minutes, when my skin warmed the perfume up, the scent turned sour - like milk that turned bad and was mixed with cat pee. Maybe it would become better when the base would dominate but sadly I just cannot stand the heart of this perfume. I really wanted and expected to love Chai by Baruti but the combination of my skin and the perfume did not work out. Chai turned out to be a party pooper for me: gave a promise of a wonderful time together , to absolutely devastate the mood. I am glad though that others can enjoy top, heart and base :)

Ha ha this is strange. Initially I have a confusion of notes in the head .. Cocoa, dirty skin, cinnamon, cloves, cardamom, ginger, all spicy. I'm not familiar with tea Chai but I get a toothpaste-like freshness that contrasts hot spice in a fortified milk. Very liqueur, sticky but without being appetizing. On the skin I appreciate cinnamon but the cloud around it does not make me feel at ease. It does not improve in the dry where a moist rosy musk emerges that easily bores my nose. Overall .. "Dirty" sweetness. masculine, mature. Personally, I stay with my simple green tea. Try first. This is not a blind purchase.

Not my cup of tea, unfortunately. This smells like you just walked into a hippie smoke shop. Like cheap incense, musty etc. I was excited because it sounded nice and I really like the smell of chai, however, this didn’t smell like chai to me at all. On the skin, it also had a weird urinal or bathrooms cleaner scent. It was really unpleasant. I will say, it smells much better on clothing than on skin, it’s much sweeter and less abrasive on clothing. I had to wash this off - giving it a 2/10

Echoing many other reviewers' sentiments, this is really strong on the opening. Something about the opening was nauseating, especially when I tested it in the morning. It's just too much spice. It does smell quite high-end and well blended but ultimately it's a very realistic chai to me. But I don't want to smell like I've spent my whole day brewing chai. I prefer other chai/cardamom-heavy offerings like Jovoy's Remember Me, Olfactive Studio's Chypre Shot, and Xerjoff Starlight over this.

Tbh, it's a little amateur smelling. Like a homeopathy blend found at a local street fair vendor. Muddy and spicy. Hard to discern anything in particular. A little playdough like in the sense that I think I smell flour or dough.

EXTREMELY SWEET AND SPICY tea fragrance, not at all for me. It is just too much. Ginger gives it a lively nature, amps it up even more.

I got a sample of this, and hated it so much I had to shower instantly. It’s strong and just not a nice smell - it honestly made me want to vomit. Definitely sample before buying.

as an indian who drinks chai daily i can confirm this does not smell like chai at all. rather it smells more like ginseng or a TCM herb

پاییز، فصل لذت بردن از اولین بارشهای بعد از گرمای تابستون که خاک تن سوخته رو شستشو میده؛ همیشه برام خاطراتی رو زنده میکنه که از روایحی ناب و فوق العاده بوجود اومدن. از میون این همه رایحه ی بی نظیر، یکیش دم کردن و نوشیدن چای تو یه روز تنبل پاییزیه که چند ساعت قبلش بارون اومده و حالا همه چیز در فضایی سحر آمیز دنبال میشه. chai احیاگر بخشی از اون حس و حال فوق العادست که ما حصل ترکیب چای خشک با دارچین وهل و کاکائو با تمی انیمالیک و خشک از میخک در فضایی دودی، خاکی و شیرین با یک تندی ملایمه. این شروع عمیق، غنی و با شکوه، لذت نوشیدن چای در همون فضای عالی پس از باران پاییزی رو به نحوی تداعی میکنه که هر چند اون عظمت و پیچیدگی رو نداره اما بسیار لذیذ و شیکه. هنر دروسوپولوس در ارائه ی ترکیبی بالانس و دقیق، جایی برای سرگیجه و دلزدگی ناشی از نوتهای شیرین و سنگین باقی نذاشته و رایحه ای درخشان با گرمایی اغواگر ایجاد میکنه که در نهایت پرستیژ و جذابیته. داستان چای با از بین رفتن حاشیه ی انیمالیک؛ و به دنبال اون، تقویت حالت گورمند و خامه ای به دلبری خودش ادامه میده و در نهایت با گرما و تندی دارچین به همراه حاشیه ای از چرم دودی به پایان عسلی گرم و نرمی میرسه. chai عطر پاییزی غنی شده با شیرینی ادویه ای و عسلی نابی هست که در هوای آکنده از بوی خاک نمناک و دود سِرو میشه. درخشان، لوکس، گرم و گیرا در پوششی فاخر و لبخندی بر لب؛لذت یه روز خاص پاییزی رو دو چندان میکنه و کمتر کسی پیدا میشه که از این چای فوق العاده و فضای عالی بگذره. 9 تا 10 ساعت ماندگاری با پخشی که در ساعات نخست عالی و بعد از اون متوسط خواهد بود کامنت: م.ع (سایت لوکس بایر (با امکان تست سمپل

I'm so on the fence about this one. On one hand, it's the kind of scent that I'm usually all for - I love my tea scents, and I love spice. Add the two together and it should be a winner. And it does, indeed, smell like sticky chai - it's incredibly accurate, like holding a cup under your nose, the spices and the honey and the dash of milk combined. But I agree with the others here that say that there's just one note in this that's a little disharmonious to the rest, just something that's been left a little "raw". I can't name what it is but it's almost this edge of something burnt/bitter/dirty underneath it all, buried under the rest. It changes this from something super 'refined' to something a little more full-on, from an 'anytime' scent to something that I'd only reach for occasionally. I like it, but it's not the slam-dunk that I thought it would be. It could just be a taste thing - I like my scents a little more 'polished' as a preference - or it could just be skin chemistry. At any rate, try and sample this one first.
