Onder de Linde (Melkmeisje)

Just want to give this one a shout out today - I've had this one for 6 years now and it's one of my first niches and still absolute favourites especially in the early spring. First wearing of this in the year - I'm having an amazing day and decided it's the perfect scent for today. This is one of my special occasion perfumes as it's so heady and rich, (not to mention expensive) and one small spray will be plenty for the day (I've only used up 15 ml of the 30 ml bottle in 6 years it's that potent.) So one small spray from afar, with my wrist on my neck to get it everywhere. It's the smell of sweet spring - the most gorgeous, sensual evocative floral green - fresh spring linden with pulpy rich pear which is my absolute favourite rich with a honeyed ambrosia. Love this, brings me such joy, I do recommend trying from the bottle itself as the astute sprayer is perfectly suited to spray such a potent scent - if you try from a sample it will go everywhere and indeed overwhelm but used correctly (meaning one tiny spray from the original sprayer and from afar) and you will be in spring heaven. ** If you want to rehome your Melkmeisje bottle I may be willing to buy it from you / swap it **

Onder de Linde (Dutch for “Under the Lindens”) opens kind of aquatic, in a pleasant, realistic way – sky blue, all vase water and spring blossoms. It’s amazing how wet it smells, while still smelling good. The florals are fluffy, mellow, and lightly sweet. Not that distinctively “linden” or “lilac” – if he had labeled them “mimosa” I wouldn’t have blinked – but no less pleasant for that. Over the next few hours it gets sweeter, with a delicate milk-and-honey effect. It’s an original concept, and one of the few scents I’ve encountered that evoke dewy-wet freshness without a trace of a chemical aftertaste. (Zoologist Dragonfly is the other one). Onder de Linde is rather faint, mild, and simple – even tame – but sometimes you want a pretty, delicate, lightweight trifle, and this is one with peerless execution. It’s got a similar fresh spring mood to Tindrer, but more feminine and mellow. If Tindrer was a garden at dawn, Onder de Linde is a vase of flowers at noon, flooded with Vermeer’s almost milky sunlight.

I finally gifted myself this perfume after going through multiple samples kits. It was not love at first sniff, but I like when a perfume chalenges my senses. I would suggest to try it on skin, in summer, and enjoy its evolution. Something in Onder De Linde arouse my sensations, it turns on my primitive nature, just like the werewolf during full moon. It is carnal, yet sweet and floral, but with aslight animalic facet. Something opulent and reassuring, absolutely not decadent. it could be the scent of a Paleolithic goddess and gives me also African maternity statue vibes. On a more literal point of vue, Onder De Linde is an overdose of yellow flowers, linden blossoms covered in honey with a touch of powdery lilac and fruity pear. The vetiver brings a subtle greenness creating depth to this celestial potion.

This is an exquisite green floral; Fragrantica's description of Floral-Woody-Musk is bizarre. Opens with a bitter green linden blossom (reminds me of Mimosa) fused to a honeyed fruit (is it pear or apple? Baruti describes it as both pear AND apple) with a gorgeous fat-budded lilac note which becomes stronger with time. This is very similar to Jean Patou's Vacances (which I adore) for the greened-up lilac note, but here the addition of honey provides a deeper, softer note throughout. I love this scent. The pear and honey just go so well with the florals. Very natural scent, sweet, organic, pulpy almost, and very long lasting, Baruti always delivers best on that front. Probably my second favorite after my signature, but that price tag is holding me back for now. 5 star. *Bought anyway. I'm in heaven - and wow, I've been smelling my arm for 15 minutes straight and still going strong - this is now my signature, I'm in love! I first tried it on my wrist, as I always do, and found it too green and crisp for me, with a touch of bitterness. I tried it again, on my neck and shirt, on a warmer day, and now we’re talking. I’m still not getting much pear, but the soft yellow florals and honey come through beautifully. It’s a spring day in a light, lush green forest, ancient woodland, buttercups, buzzing bees. The sweetness is subtle, and not at all cloying or artificial. I’m obsessed with it.

This is along the same lines as Hummingbird by Zoologist, that sweet honeyed nectar. Perfumes are well known of their power to transport. Linden takes me to best years of my life, my early adulthood, going to my beloved gymnasium in spring, walking around my small town in summer smelling freshly blooming linden trees. Drinking linden blossom tea 🍵, this right here, is a heartwarming walk down the memory lane.

This review is based on a decant, funny enough it was sent to me by Cherry_Darling who left a comment underneath. Im blown away by this for real, it's a work of art. Truly unisex, truly elegant. It smells so clean and crisp beyond words. I sprayed one spritz and I can still see the oily reflection on my skin 2 hours later. Sillage and longevity are excellent. It has the wow factor.

Floral and calming, noticeable in public, a compliment came from unexpected quarter when wearing this. Coolness of water mixed with petals. In Extrait form, could smell it through my winter knit glove.

Quite a unique perfume built around linden absolute (a rare and expensive material). Linden has an intensely green floral odor profile with a strong powdery nuance. Very spring. Very mimosa.

Reminiscent of summertime, this beautiful and delicate fragrance will play with your senses.

I think this is quite possibly one of the most important fragrances I've tried in a while. Something about wet, realistic florals of the Narcissus, lilac and hyacinth variety which stir me and the combination with strong also quite natural smells of the animalic, indolic or in this case naturally sweet, honey. It's quite a sickly piece of work, I mean the honey is so well realised it starts to go to caramelised, wheaty, grainy, bran like, heaviness and a feeling of beeswax too. Against this you have this wafting, dark floral undercurrent sweeping through the fragrance like the pungency of linden blossom (which I can't say I've ever smelled although it does grow in the UK so perhaps I have?) and apparently it is carried on the breeze for long distances. I get some spice a sort of traditional, sweet, creamy musk and vanilla body, even a mild clove, this is like musc ravageur meets kilian back to black in florists. Yet still there's something edger than those comparisons. My experience of Baruti was the oud fragrance, with no oud in it. A curious hit of oud characteristics, painfully sharp and bitingly resinous, I actually made an oud frgarance myself by combining and balancing all the oud bases I had and stuff which I associate with oud or fake oud. The results were quite similar, a searing stew that I suspect would be popular if released as it has the same beastmode, bro-down qualities of an TF Oud wood or an oud for greatness or Montale So I think Onder de linde is bewildering. Experienced sniffer that I am, I didn't realise what this was and afterwards I sort of staggered out of my first sniffing as if I'd agreed to fight an ageing Mike Tyson, only to discover I didn't want that Iron Mike smoke. So all this complementary stuff I'm saying is about a fragrance I don't think I could ever fancy wearing, but I respect the hell out of the person who does.

Airy and crisp opening: drifting blossoms, golden pollen, scattered petals, the buzz of bees; and a waxy, animalic honey effect. There’s also a lilac note carried in on an icy breeze. It’s a beautiful composition! This site lists “sweet” as the primary top accord, but that doesn’t track to my nose. The sweetness here is strictly honeyed-floral in character, and it even carries a green tint. It feels like a collision between sunlit yellow linden blossoms; bright, happy, almost radiant; and cool, chilled lilac. Powder and vanilla act as light supporting elements, while the structure stays firmly on a floral axis. This one surprised me. I was ready to write this off because I disliked the opening. Aishmiqru got it spot on, "a lovely garden where people go to relieve themselves". However, 30 minutes later, it's entirely something else. This is now a beautiful, peaceful garden awash in moonlight, treasured and shuttered behind tall walls. The linden and lilac are soft and romantic, the vanilla and musk uplifting. This makes me happy. This is a floating cloud of bliss. Who knew?? If you can wait it out, the final outcome is divine.

wow factor 10. first day with this intense green floral. yes linden and lilac. but so much more. not sure this has reached "love" but it is a solid like. i really enjoy spring air filled with linden blossoms and this has the piquancy which i find charming. but it is not a flowery sweet scent. there is a strong, and i mean strong, base of warmth. there is a maturity, ripeness, depth which intrigues me and which i need to get to know

Now this is super intriguing! Quite a lot going on in this, I feel. The floral-citrus element works in reducing the foetid nature of the vetiver-honey combo, and it reduces the sticky-moist element to a degree, but not enough for mine. Still a very intriguing scent, I feel, but I just can't get past the vetiver-honey elements. Not a fan. The rest of it is great, though...

Very different , green floral opening with a lot of moisture from watery pear, honey and lilac further bolster this, to a new nose this could come across as a rather animalic opening but there's a lot more there. its hard to put this into words but really does bring thoughts of springs end and pushing into summer

Simple, light, and airy. Weak sweetened floral. Nothing ground shaking. One of the more bland options from the discovery set.

A dark, bitter green. I don’t think the linden blossom agrees with me, I get a herbaceous hay-like scent, mixed with the smell of damp, musty washing. I respect the uniqueness, but I can’t warm to it. Take 2: I hear the right amount of spray is crucial and overloading ruins this, so I barely dribbled a semi-squeeze and rubbed it on my skin (this sounds dodgy). It’s nicer and I’m getting an aromatic herbaceous hay with a field of rapeseed and wild broom, but there’s still a little musty washing lurking.
