Kaleidoscope

Update: Cannot detect a difference between perfume and body spray. Very similar to Glossier You and Lacoste Femme. I wear them together interchangeably. Kaleidoscope body cream is a good back-up too. === Iris + cedar + vanilla + pink pepper. The last note gives it a wonderful freshness that I don't get but want with Prada Iris. This is a skin scent that I can barely smell 10 minutes after spraying the body spray, so disappointing. I will try a small portion of the perfume but expect the same performance given your reports here, too bad. This also reminds me of Flower's musky Cherished (which has less iris and more wood). I love the shimmery colorwave label too and have finally learned to spell kaleidoscope, lol. 2018 and already the EDP is discontinued. I guess they always have to have something new. This is a little more grown-up than many of their floral-fruity stuff. Too bad it is not stronger and not still in the stores. I wish I could get shower gel or fragrance oil -- oh, I see the shower gel is still out there.

Kaleidoscope is a beautiful blend of iris, cedar, and pink pepper with an underlying sweetness, like a Swedish fish candy type of sweetness. I'm so in love with this smell that I don't even care about its poor longevity. Bath and Bodyworks are idiots for retiring this. They used to at least bring it back for the semi-annual sale, but after speaking with an employee while shopping recently, I think Kaleidoscope is gone for good. There is still a chance it will return for the semi-annual summer sale, but I feel like it is unlikely. My bottle is starting to run low, and I'm experiencing genuine stress over it. I have Glossier You, but it is missing the sweet Swedish Fish aspect. I theorize that if I layer You with God is a Woman, the result will be close to Kaleidoscope. Hopefully, I'm right because I genuinely can't live life without this scent. Anyways, until the dreaded day I run out, I will cherish my bottle as if it is the Venus de Milo.

Lovely strong peppery notes to the point I didn't even pick up any sweetness upon first sniff. Later it became obvious that the pepperiness was just balancing the sweet out, but they are both prominent though not competing against each other. A wonderful your-skin-but-better scent, one which reminds me of being told "you smell good" vs "your perfume smells good". Difficult to pick out individual notes/it's one of those fragrances which morphs and messes with your mind trying to figure exactly WHAT it smells like! I like the warheads comparison someone else mentioned. Reminds me of the original Love Spell body spray from Victoria's Secret!

Why does the lotion, body spray , and perfume all smell differently? Believe it or not,, the body spray is the best one.. I’m not a fan of body sprays.. but it actually smells more feminine and like twizzlers.. the perfume I can smell oud and it’s more unisex.. maybe it’s my nose .. I have the Zara cotton kiss.. and it’s a step sister of Kaleidoscope.. I can only use the lotion in the winter.. I feel in the summer it completely changes the scent., I bought like 10 a couple years ago. Thank goodness it’s still good.

This review I’m writing is for the mist, I don’t have the EDP, but this fragrance is what led me to finding glossier you. I absolutely love it and I hope one day BBW will bring this back atleast to be able to stock up on the lotions to layer with glossier you. Also this is very similar to sonic flower by room 1015. And if you’re looking for a lotion that’s not a dupe to Kaleidoscope but vibes VERY well with it, flamingo lotion from target in the green bottle-just trust me!!! 💕

I remember getting this during B&BW’s semi annual sale in December 2019. Was able to snag 2 full size perfume as well as a mini spray for 75% off. Fast forward to August 2023 and all I have left is one full size perfume. I’ll be very sad when I get to finish it. Hoping that they’ll bring it back as it’s such a unique, very potent and long lasting, warm, unisex scent that as a guy I enjoy wearing all year round.

beautiful smell with a perfect flower/wood balance. It gives me a strong Lanvin Eclat de Arpege vibes, which is weird as it is not even mentioned in here in the "reminds of" section. I love the smell itself even more than Lanvin,but longevity is obviously lacking. Also, slightly pricey now since it was discontinued:(

I was given the body lotion recently and when I tell you this is a new love, obsession even? Why did I miss out on this? Please let's all come together and pray Bath and Body Works bring this back again even for a short moment like they did lovely dreamer? I love that one too and was able to grab a few of those. 🤞🙏🏿

the way i would sell my soul for an unlimited supply of this. i made an account just to gush over this scent. definitely top of my list! i've bought some over ebay and it's hit or miss, it's either the actual scent with no tampering or it's reminiscent and very clearly not the scent it's trying to be.

I really enjoy this perfume! On me it smells like soft clean musk with a hint of a woody note. Its so sad that its only available now in body spray and travel size perfume. Anyway I’m one of the few who enjoy this perfume but ai have a feeling it might get discontinued.

This was love, and definitely one of the most beloved fragrances of BBW! I loved it so much and I cannot count how many times I picked up a bottle whenever I go to a BBW store. Woody and earthy, truly feminine without being cloying

I’m using the body spray so i can’t really speak on the perfume, but it smells really good. When you first spray it there’s more of the pink pepper and it smells kinda sour? But in a good way lol. My boyfriend likes it.

RIP Kaleidoscope. You were a beautiful, gentle, comforting soul. We will miss the way you floated in on a soft iris cloud and your warm cedar embrace. Edit: If you need a SUPER SIMILAR scent, try mix bar “cloud musk”.

If anyone wants to buy this again Bath and Body Works just brought it back under the name If You Musk. I could cry right now!!! 😭😭😭 They listened!!!

Maybe I’m crazy but to me this smells like raspberries, perhaps with some whites chocolate.

I don't really gravitate toward the category of floral woody musks, but sometimes I buy something a little outside my wheelhouse as a sort of olfactory disguise. I'm not generally a fan of white musk, but it's not sharp or cloying here, just cool and clean. I like the soft powdery iris, and in the base there's a touch of something my hippie heart loves, some approximation of sandalwood, vetiver, and patchouli in the dry down. SJP Lovely and DSquared2 She Wood are the only other examples of this perfume category that I own, but this is true to type: soft florals and clean white musk on a base of those pleasantly persistent cedary and sandalwood-ish artifical aromachemicals like iso E super and cashmeran that will annoy you to no end if you start smelling them in literally every fragrance around you. I spritz it on after a shower and I smell scrubbed clean, perfectly inoffensive, radiating a sexless femininity. This is a good fragrance for the workplace or for those days when you're not sure what you'll get into and don't want to find yourself smelling out of place. It's hard to overspray because it fades to a skin scent in less than an hour. I don't love it but I don't dislike it. It's just the thing to spray when I don't want to smell like my usual incense/spices/patchouli/etc., but also don't want to smell like nothing.

A Very nice, clean, soft scent. I purchased the the "edp" a few months ago. I wasn't fond of the performance, so i didn't wear it or spray it as much because i didn't want to run through the bottle. I got about two hours max on my skin, which is very disappointing for a "edp". I guess it was limited edition because B&BW stopped selling it and later released it as a body mist. I just received the mist today and it performs just as well as the "edp"lol. It's a Iris based scent so if you have Prada Infusion D'Iris, you can pair it as a base so that the scent last longer. I'm pretty sure there are other Iris scents out there that smell similar to this. The only reason why i mentioned PID is because i have it and they smell very similar to my nose. Scent: 8/10 Packaging: 7/10 Performance: 6/10

Something about this smells very, very y2k. It makes me think of a fashionable helicopter mom walking around with their honor student kid at the scholastic book fair back in elementary school. I don't get the iris. It's just pink pepper and cedar to me. It's also oddly sweet in an almost gourmand type of way without being a gourmand. It smells kinda nice but I wouldn't wear it because of the strong moms-at-the-PTA-meeting vibes it gives off. I'd spray it in my room for the nostalgia because it really does remind me of my elementary school days.

This smells like Glossier You, just a bit less peppery. If You is a more toned-down version of Fleur de Peau by Diptyque, then Kaleidoscope is a more toned-down version of Glossier You.

I bought this in the rollerball for $12.99 last month and I really enjoy this! It's beautiful on it's own, but you can definitely layer it with other scents as well.

One of my favorite BBW scents. I heavily over spray and always receive compliments. It lasts for hours too.

Powdery Iris and cedar, very office friendly and comforting. It's a great late Summer, early Fall scent.

While this does bear resemblance to Glossier You, I will say that it lacks the creaminess and skin-like character that one seems to have on my skin. Smelling it from the bottle, they would probably be indistinguishable from each other, but something magical seemed to happen once I applied that one to skin. This one smells exactly on the skin as it does on the atomizer opening, and likewise on clothes and linens. It's a clean, albeit cold and lifeless musk. If that's the sort of thing you're after look no further, and pay no more than half-retail for the body mist. This is the formula I happen to have where you spray 20 times and barely detect a whisp of scent particles have actually clung to anything. At any rate, now that I've moved it back into the rotation and intend to use it on my clothes for bed, I expect to use this one up within the next year and reward myself with the one I fell in love with in the first place. If I repurchase You, I'd be intrigued to see if the body products to this layer harmoniously, or if they kill the magical touch that one has added in its formula. The comparisons to Infusion d'Iris: While everyone is entitled to their own experiences with fragrance, and they are valid, I found it laughable to see that one up there. Unless there's a 2020 reform from Prada that made it smell like cleaning products instead of the cool-toned luscious iris powder with hints of long dried incense smoke in satin bedsheets that I remember, then I couldn't see a further distinction between the two. This one doesn't even come close to the quality, or performance of that one either. And arguably, neither does Glossier's. Please do not take this as a potential dupe. In any case, test it yourself at your nearest store, wait for a sale and stock up before they up the prices on eBay for this Emperor's clothes in "fragrance" form. I'd liken this body mist, applied generously, to wearing an entirely see-through mesh dress. It's there, but you covered nothing so what's the point?

This starts out beautiful and on me unfortunately goes South by the time it takes on the bottom notes. It's not awful, but has a musk scent that is not a clean musk and really does not draw me in but makes me feel a little ill. I'm sure some of it is my chemistry but not entirely.

Too much pepper. Way too much. The bottle is confusing me. This seemed to be a hit. I got this as a blind buy but I wouldn't do that at all.

The iridescent rainbow packaging is beautiful! I wanted to love this scent solely because of the packaging...but alas the scent is not for me. There's something about it that reminded me of the powdery bathroom air fresheners in antique shops and such. Thinking it reacted with my own body chemistry poorly, I had other people try it out and they felt the same way. Powdery, grandma-y, not really that great. It looks great on my counter though!

Easily the worst from BBW I have ever smelled. A headache-inducing weird scent.

I purchased Kaleidoscope today. I bought 2 eau de parfums and a body cream. All Kaledioscope items are in clearance at the semi-annual sale and being discontinued. The first item I tested was the body mist, and it does indeed seem just as strong as the eau de parfum. Usually that is not the case. This smells strange for about 30 seconds to one minute, then it begins to open beautifully. The fragrance is just like the notes describe: iris and pink pepper on a musky, powdery base. I noticed the powder and musk most of all, which I LOVE. All notes are easily distinguishable. This fragrance does have a very annoying aspect: I can't smell it after less than 5 seconds. I KNOW it's still there. It was strong up upon application and the whole way home. After that, I can't smell when it is sprayed. I took a few deep sniffs of fresh ground coffee to reset my nose (standard perfume industry trick, usually they use coffee beans), and then I could smell on myself again for about 10 seconds. I can also smell the body cream for longer than the sprays. More and more contemporary perfumes have these lab-synthesized molecules that some people simply cannot smell. (MFK Baccarat Rouge 540 is a perfect example). Even so, there is odor fatigue, sensory habituation, et cetera. Therefore, it is impossible for me to gauge sillage or longevity. Maybe I will smell it better in spring or summer. Bath & Body Works lost me a long time ago when they cheapened their formulas, discontinued some favorites, and every new scent started being a synthetic sugar bomb. Kaleidoscope breaks the mold. I am very pleased. If you love musk or powder, don't hesitate to test. Still, you probably should test rather than blind buy, because this fragrance's marketing boasts that it is supposed to smell a little different on everyone. Update: After the initial test wear, I still could not smell this at all! Selling them on ebay. A real disappointment, because this scent is lovely. I'm almost sure now this is one of those molecule-based fragrances to which so many people are anosmic. I cannot wear a fragrance just for other people to smell. There's no pleasure in that!

I honestly have no clue what the reviewer below is talking about, I have never detected any sweetness in this fragrance whatsoever and I certainly wouldn't call it berry-like or gourmand. I'm completely confused as to if the review posted is for the same scent that I have purchased so many times. Don't get me wrong--this is a beautiful scent, I just don't want someone to buy this thinking that they are going to get anything approaching warheads candy or even any of BBW's regular offerings: Twilight Woods and Gingham this is not, and that's okay. This doesn't have to be sweet to be good, and I think it's important to give something like this a chance, especially if you've never tried anything like it before. Now onto what it DOES smell like. Kaleidoscope is a dry, woodsy, musky fragrance with a base of ambroxan, cedar, and pepper. It is fairly linear, pretty much unchanging throughout its lifespan and it smells quite similar to Glossier's "You" except with slightly weaker longevity and a very sparing patchouli note that would be almost indiscernible if I hadn't directly compared the two. I appreciate that the pepper is so bright and almost citrusy in this, it actually kicked off my love of pepper as a note in fragrances. The pepper, ambroxan, and vetiver seem to be the standout notes when matched with my particular skin chemistry, but the cool thing is, it really does smell a little bit different on everyone. I like that in a scent. Ambroxan/cedar combinations can sometimes come off smelling like pencil shavings, but I think the combination of pink pepper, iris, and vetiver come together to make this more delicate and pretty. It feels more like a rainy grove of trees in a Miyazaki film than a woodcutter's studio. I think the name is really perfect, and I'm honestly dissapointed to hear that it's been discontinued. Luckily I picked up a few of the lotions and solid perfumes before they sold out. To be honest, I prefered the little extra kick of green in this to its somewhat more clinical smelling inspiration: Glossier You. What can you do, though? I love it and I'll wear it until it runs out.

I'm seeing some reviews lamenting the longevity and sillage of this scent. Now, I have it in both EDP and mist format, but even with the mist, I can honestly say this one sticks extremely well on me. Perhaps it is my body chemistry---this scent more than most boasts that it will mix differently on each person, creating a "one-of-a-kind" fragrance---but I have been complimented on this scent even by my elderly mother, whose senses aren't exactly tip-top anymore. I had a feeling I would like this one, due to the facts that I'm a huge Bath & Body Works enthusiast, and I also was immediately fond of the packaging, name, and concept. Sure enough, it didn't disappoint. That pink pepper---a note that is good in moderation, but I feel you really have to be careful about using to excess---comes through just enough, mixing well with the musk. I am not a peppery or musky kind of girl normally, however, so the sweetness has to be pronounced for me to like a scent. Fortunately, it is, but not in a generic way. It's a berry-like sweetness...I could call it somewhat reminiscent of "frozen berries", almost like earlier B&BW scents Be Enchanted and Amber Blush. But the mix of these bittersweet notes with the cedarwood is what makes it unique. It's certainly got a "bite" to it. This is for people (and it could even possibly be unisex, more so than a lot of their other scents anyway) who enjoy sweet scents that have a louder, sassier edge, and aren't just straight saccharine. On a side note: I match scents to outfits and I purposely wore this one with a silver holographic dress and jewelry for New Year's Eve, just to be "extra". In short: even if you're normally apprehensive about B&BW, give this one a shot. It's a little more tart than your typical gourmand; think what the candy Warheads (rather than Starbursts) would be like in spray form, and you'll begin to have an idea of what this one has to offer.

I went to BBW to give this a try after seeing how many people compared it to Glossier You, and after remembering I had a BBW gift card that has been sitting around for over 2 years. As far as BBW goes, I think that this is a solid release. It's very sweet but remains more creative, wearable, and dynamic than many of their other scents. The longevity and projection are not great, but I do believe that the subtlety suits the scent. Definitely very similar to Glossier You, but it's missing the animalistic, salty, effervescent warmth that makes You so special. If Glossier You is getting all dressed up to go absolutely wild at Beyoncé's Coachella set, BBW's Kaleidoscope is listening to the live album while wearing PJs. Still very nice -- but lacking impact and memorability.

I had the solid perfume of this rattling around in the bottom of my backpack because I shoplifted it when it first came out. From reviews I've read, I realize now that it's apparently meant to be B&BW's answer to Glossier You. Makes sense in hindsight, though I've never smelled Glossier You (original formula), but I can catch a general vibe from the notes I've seen. I was like 14 when this scent came out, and all I thought it smelled like was a gummy candy. Whether I thought gummy worms, gummy bears, Swedish Fish, I'm not sure. It's not a capital G Gourmand, I've never smelled it and believe it means to emulate something consumable. It smells vaguely powdery, vaguely candy-like. Think Smarties, or most Ariana Grande perfumes.

This is more informational than anything: The packaging really doesn't match the mood of this scent. You look at this bottle and half expect something fruity. This one is very woodsy, musky, earthen. Think like...campfires in the fall, walks in the woods, laying in a pile of leaves, etc. And I don't think that's just how it interacts with me either, as I didn't spray it on myself. That's just what it reminds me of. If fall is your season, you'll go nuts over it. I wonder if it would have lasted longer with B&BW if they'd had different packaging? If it were me I'd have given it packaging along the lines of Twilight Woods.

This is not my usual type of scent since I usually want to smell like sugar or frosting. However, this is gorgeous and I’m obsessed with it. The bottle and packaging is so fun and pretty and the scent is stunning. It’s so clean and fresh but there is also some sweetness. I mostly get the clean musk, lots of woody notes, pepper and then the sweetness follows. It’s so pretty but sadly very soft. It’s only a skin scent and doesn’t have amazing longevity. Still a win in my book though.

I’m not sure if Kaleidoscope is an intentional dupe for Glossier You, but it’s extremely similar. On the initial spritz, it’s definitely more salty, where You strikes me as more peppery. From then on to the drydown, the two are essentially identical to my nose. Iris that’s more creamy than powdery, woodsy cedar, and a hint of sparkling sweetness. Kaleidoscope is maybe a bit less creamy, and the longevity is even shorter than that of Glossier, but it’s a light, pleasant scent.

I was getting down to the end of my bottle so I set out to find a dupe. I ordered You by Glossier thanks to the reviews here. It arrived today. You is not just a dupe, it's the identical twin. I'd swear it was the exact same perfume if not for the drydown on You being noticeably stronger. If anyone is missing Kaleidoscope and always wished it performed just a little bit better, you can blind buy You with no worries whatsoever.

It’s a very comfortable clean skin scent, but not in a typical screeching clean way. More of the scent of light musk on warm skin, soft iris and delicate woods. Beautifully simple. Not surprised they discontinued it, because their average customer wants a gourmand. An iris musk doesn’t appeal to them.

I got a full sized bottle of the body mist at my local thrift store! A stoke of luck because apparently this version of the fragrance was discontinued. I absolutely love how it smells, woody scents are my favorite so I was pleasantly surprised when I tried it at the store, I bought it immediately!

I got the rollerball and it was lovely. A great dupe of You from Glossier - just not as strong or long-lasting. It was about $13 from Amazon and I wonder about it being watered down. I have just now bought a bottle and can't wait to see how it is.

On myself, I can smell mostly the Cedar, I think. Its very woodsy and spicy with a HINT of floral from the iris. The closest thing I can describe it as is the way it smells walking into Rue21. Its not bad, but I can smell a lot going on at once.

I wish this was stronger! At first spray, all I get is pencil shavings and a hint of 90s Egyptian musk. As it warms up on the skin, it's quite a lovely clean musk. Nothing crazy, but it just smells good!!

It's 10/27/24 and Bath & Body Works has brought the scent back but it's called In the Musk. It's part of their luxury dupes line. So far, I've only seen the body spray. No lotions or anything else.

Just got this lotion and it smells exactly like Bal dafrique! I'm so thrilled to have a more affordable dupe even though it's is retired and I had to find it on eBay.

Has a very harsh, acid smell that makes me feel sick after smelling it. One of my least favorite BBW scents.
