Smoked Old Fashioned

My husband, in a bottle. Usually I am a fragrance snob, and don't truly expect to find anything at BBW. Everything there is like Avon, various synthetic notes blended into the same base. Generic and cliche. My daughter loves the place, so one day I indulged her. Bored, I saw a bottle in a seductive hue, a dark greyish green. The label was simple looking, and the bottle seemed luxurious in a way that most of their products usually aren't. Masculine, chic and practical. I took a chance whiff. The rest is history. This is the notes of a mature man, not a young one. This man works with his hands: outside. This man smokes and drinks, and smiles a lot. This man owns no skincare, and absolutely wouldn't be caught dead in Old Spice or Axe. He doesn't like cologne. No frills, no time. His truck is lined in leather, the floorboards are full of mud. He has crow's feet and bills. His jeans are faded. His boots are dirty. You can smell the smoke and leather, the fresh mountain air, pine wood and dark whiskey. There is diesel fuel on his shirt, but the laundry soap is still there too. Somewhere behind all of that is a dark and rich woody note you cannot explain, but it makes you weak in the knees. This scent makes kids hug Dad a little longer. I've seen it. He hates cologne, but I've seen him reach for it more than a few times. It is a very specific scent, it is not for everyone. It is simple, yet complex. It is warm and inviting, but sexy, hard and clean at the same time. I was quite impressed with it for the price. He sprays it on his coats, and I can smell it a few days afterward. Spray lightly in the summer.

ONE WHIFF OF THIS AND I'M TIPSY..... ....So I guess I'm a cheap date because the projection and and silage is unbelievable!! But come one...if you have read any of my other reviews... you know I do 10-15 sprays at the very least. So after 5 sprays I'm above the legal limit. I can't believe B&BW put out this gem.....and then took it away!!!!! If you had the chance to experience this be glad you did because it really set a new standard for them. I loved it so much I went back and bought the shower gel and body lotion. This reminded me of a classy gentleman having a drink all by himself at the bar and then going home with him....I love this drink! Move over Cherry Blossom, Champagne Toast...and everything else they sell...this one was one to remember.

I purchased the body cream and shower gel for my husband a few months ago. The other day I walked into the kitchen and got a whiff of this amazing scent. He had rubbed some onto this hands and I asked him what it was. He replied that it was the body cream that I had gave him. I just went back and purchased the cologne. Layering the shower gel with the body cream and fragrance can only improve the longevity which is already at least 6 hrs. BBW has hit a home run with this one and there is nothing old fashioned about this scent! There is just the right amount of sweetness incorporated into the sexy smokiness with a little cedar in the background. For the price, you can't go wrong if you like smoky scents. Love it! 8/10

I have to say I actually kinda like this one. Reminds me of the illegitimate love child of Instant Crush by Mancera and PDM Kalan. Now I must say that I have not spent a ton of time with it, I only tried the lotion on skin and the perfume on paper, so this is only a very initial opinion. I do however keep getting whiffs of it and quite like it where I wasn’t a huge fan of either Kalan nor Instant Crush.

This fragrance is intoxicating to me. Everyone mentions a smokey note but nobody mentions the subtle leather note that’s not listed that I keep smelling. The bottle is simplistic elegance & the sprayer is as good as any on the market. The price for this posh scent is shockingly low! Go get some & tell them Bryant from Fragrantica sent you! LOL

This smells quite similar to By the Fireplace by Margiela but it's not as sweet. In the dry down or smelling it from far away or in passing, it hits the same notes. It's one of the few fragrances my bf enjoys. If you're a smoker, it will appeal to you. I bought the 3 in 1 soap & it fills the room with fragrance every time it's used

Love it, it reminds me of my grandfather’s study. Very cozy but put together with a somewhat comfy elegant feel. Well-balanced. Great value for the price, it was a big surprise given that most bbw perfume imo often project a cloying (female-marketed) or aggressively male deodorant-y (male-marketed) note.

Man oh man way to go bath and body works!!!! 👌🙌🫡👏👏👏🤝🤛👍 keep them coming First coffee and whiskey and now this I don’t even mind paying retail. We’ll worth the $40 if I blind bought this from DS&DURGA or some other niche or indie house I would be 💯 satisfied easily worth $90-120 discounted niche price.

This one gives a super rich and deep smokiness, while also having a brightness to it that I believe comes from the orange bitters. This one doesn't tend to last quite as long as some of their other fragrances do on me, but I always get the body spray so that I can touch up throughout the day.

So unique, very happy I got it on sale while it was available. Very smoky but still has the sweetness from the orange. If this had the performance of an EDP or Parfum, I would pay big bucks.

Personally, This is BBW best fragrance. has a unique strong unmistakable character unlike most of the BBW fragrances, very generic. This one, however, smoky and boozy. Yummy. !

This reminds me of a smoky Mancera Instant Crush!

Upon first spray I get a very smoky,mature smell that is very reminiscent to a nice smelling campfire (and of course in the opening because of that I’m reminded of by the Fireplace by Maison Margela) Once this dries down the smokiness remains but becomes less apparent and the vanilla comes in making this more cozy,boozy and warm ! Not going to lie I wasn’t a huge fan of the opening but once this dries down it does become more pleasant. Also idk how people are missing this but it smells EXTREMELY close to Pure Malt by Thierry Mugler. The differences being that Pure Malt is more rich and less smoky. If you haven’t smelled Pure Malt it’s a very boozy,cozy,warm smell that smells a lot like whiskey barrels with vanilla. (At least to my nose) This bath and body works fragrance however, is less strong and more about the warm vanilla and not quite as boozy (although they are very close) so if your in fear of running out of Pure Malt or need a replacement I think this will suffice!! Performance is very good as it lasted 12+ hours with medium projection but excellent sillage!! Overall rating -6.75 out of 10 ! I’m extremely impressed the direction and quality Bath and Body works are putting into their fragrance but unfortunately I’m not into this type of scent profile. But if you are into those mature,boozy,masculine scents then this is a great way to go 💪

This seems to be a very polarising fragrance. I sprayed this on a card while walking around the store and couldn't stop smelling it. I was torn on deciding if I wanted it or not so I waited until the online sale and got the body spray for $5.99. This is definitely a citrus smoky boozy cologne with a hint of sweetness from the vanilla. I wasn't sure if it was going to be too smoky for me but it settles into a nice mildly sweet smoky cedar. I tried layering this with the the BBW sweet whiskey body spray and they go together so well. The amber and red berries work really well with it. It's not overpowering at all which is what I thought it might be. I think I like this one better than the very hyped coffee and whiskey which I also have. I just might go back and grab the cologne before it's gone. It's different than the usual BBW colognes and body sprays. It's also very unisex.

My local B&BW B&M stores seem to never have the cologne spray in stock, but I eventually found a tester. This is smoky woody mature fragrance with just enough vanilla in the base to smoothen it. More masculine and only hints at sweetness. Decent projection, I kept getting wafts of something smoky after a couple of hours before realizing it was me. Oh, and did I mention it smells smoky to me? Anyway, an unexpected nice surprise from B&BW, fbw next time it goes on sale for 50% off. I disagree with whoever voted this similar to Gucci Guilty Absolute (no leather or tar) or Raghba Wood Intense (no incense and not nearly as much vanilla). My only complaint is finding it in physical stores to test or purchase - it doesn't seem like the company cares if you buy it or not.

This is a surprise from Bath and Body Works, so much that it has made me notice other things the brand is doing. Anyway, this nicely balanced dark smoke with orange and eventually vanilla is really good when you get a whiff. I agree that this isn't much of a sillage bomb, but i can smell it on me even the next day, so brilliant longevity. The bottle is nice too and that's nice to have as well. Cherry on top...i only paid CAD 21 for it

90% clone of By the Fireplace, save for the orangey opening that fades into the background pretty quickly. Smokey, somewhat sweet, vanilla woods. Performance is similar to BTF as well. Sits close to the skin and lasts a few hours. It's a polarizing profile so it's probably good that it doesn't have beastly projection. This is the best B&BW mens fragrance out right now imo. Good cheap alternative to By The Fireplace.

Bring this back. It's exactly what it says it is a smoked old fashioned. Boozy, smokey, and dark. Great for a trip to the local cigar lounge or an evening out. One of the better fragrance from B&W and it was only around for like 2-3 years. 5.8/10

For me, this is almost nothing but smoke. I get no orange, and only the slightest bit of vanilla and cedar after about an hour of wearing it. It's a 7/10 for me. I think this will be good layered with something else.
