Vanille Leather

It was a semi-blind buy as I have smelled this fragrance before on my trip to another country, but I couldn't remember exactly how it smelled when I tried it the first time. I only knew that I loved it. Vanille Leather from BDK is a great fragrance. I was just surprised that it smells much more floral than I remembered. And the intense florals that I get come from the tuberose. I can also smell some other white florals here. But that's not all! The vanilla and leather are even more noticeable (hence the name), especially after around half an hour of application. I also get the powdery & slightly woody nature of the iris and benzoin that gives it a bit of a resinous character towards the drydown. I expected more of the leather to make the scent smell more animalic, but it is actually leaning towards sweet, powdery, and floral. What I also love is the performance. I believe it is one of the best-performing fragrances I have ever tried from BDK (maybe even the absolute best). It can last for more than 10 hours on my skin, with the first hour or two having a great & very wide projection. I honestly think that this fragrance is highly underrated. It is currently my favourite from BDK. I was about to sell this fragrance due to some resemblance to fragrances like Electimuss Mercurial Cashmere (which I already have) and other Vanilla-White Floral fragrances, but after spending more time with it, I've grown to love it so much. Enough to make me keep it. Try to spray it on your skin and your clothes. Just don't overspray or use it in a hot summer day, and you might love this as much as I do.

I watched an interview with BDK founder David Benedek and he described Vanille Leather as a “vanilla without leather.” His idea was to bring out the leather-like qualities in vanilla, saying that when vanilla becomes dry there are similar molecules in it as leather. This makes a lot of sense to me, as I can pick up on textural leather qualities without being hit in the head with strong deep leather notes that often give me a headache. The opening has an indolic, almost plasticky smell from tuberose, jasmine, and orange blossom that mimics leather’s animalic nature without getting into dirty skanky territory. Orris and violet provide a buttery smooth velvety texture also reminiscent of leather or suede. For those concerned with the florals, they do dissipate after the opening and what’s left is an incredible creamy, ambery, sensual vanilla that is highly addicting. If you want a non-gourmand vanilla that does not smell like the other girls/boys, this is it. Vanille Leather will be my first BDK full bottle. Side-note: test this on skin! I did not care for it all on the blotter, but it smelled completely different on my skin.

The initial opening is a powdery Violet with some spicy undertones. 15 Min - I am still getting the powdery Violet scent with a very light spice, but I am also starting to pick up some sweeter white florals. 30 Min - The white floral notes has definitely moved to the forefront of the scent profile and are supported by a blend of Vanilla and Leather that make the fragrance very elegant and seductive. 60 Min - The sweetness has settled down some and I am getting more of a powdery and earthy Leather scent with some Gourmand undertones. Dry Down - The dry down of this fragrance s a subtle sweet Vanilla with a lovely soft Leather that projects class and seduction. This would be a beautiful date night scent. Performance: Projection of this fragrance is Good with the frangrance creating a scent bubble of about 2.5 feet for almost 3 hours. The sillage is also Good with a scent trail of over 3+ feet for over 2+ hours. Longevity is Great with the fragrance lasting on my skin about 8 to 9 hours, but becoming a skin scent at about 4 hours. My rating for this fragrance is a 9.5 out of 10.

Was recommended to try this due to my love of violet combined with decadent notes like vanilla I blind bought the dua dupe for it Wore it to work, i could smell it but it wasn’t projecting or loud it was subtle but the smell was so irresistible but i thought, meh, it just doesn’t smell strong enough for me I forgot that i had sprayed some on my work sweater that i leave in the office I can still smell it the next day on the sweater and occasionally would get wafts of it from across the room! It’s so damn good i searched for a used bottle on Mercari and decided to treat myself to this expensive but so delicious perfume! This one is hard to describe. I don’t get sharp screechy florals like some suggest. I do get a warm vanilla and a soft comforting suede. Like a suede jacket lined with a perfect simple vanilla fragrance. That combination is sooooooo comforting and rich and sweet. Not cloying, not sugary. Just perfect. And it is very perfectly unisex as well. I could see this on myself or even on a man. If I smell this on a man’s neck i may be tempted to bite it! 🤣🫣

I was gonna write that this is probably my No1 among BDK and saw a comment below of Commando1CBR saying just that - I agree for all the reasons mentioned. it is so impressive. Upon first spray, the leather note really does punch your nose though - it gives me the image of polishing my leather shoes with cream for leather. I know it sounds scary and offputting, but this impression is really fleeting, like half a minute or so and then it softens, and vanilla comes to hit your senses. And then these two notes stay throughout and dance around you in a warm cloud. I guess it is not for you if you really hate the leather note but it's done so beautifully, do sample. It is perfect for cold fall or cold winter weather - I was walking in the freezing cold and sniffing this warm sweet cloud around me. it is overtly sweet without being gourmand, unisex but in a very sexy way, soft and floral without being girly. Yum

This was a little strange for me. I was expecting something completely different, something deeper and darker. Initial blast I got something soft, creamy, and slightly reminiscent of Ylang in Gold. I'm not a huge fan of white or yellow florals, so I'm not going to lie, that was a bit of a disappointment. Thankfully, that does not last long (+/- 30 mins) and the vanilla gradually develops and intertwines with the orris or violet to turn into a first cousin of Black Tie, which is not a bad thing at all because I love Black Tie. I've been wearing this for about a week straight, and it transitioned from an "ok" to "really like" to "this is REALLY good." I would have preferred the leather to be more present, but I'm sure there's going to be an "Intense" version in the near future. I can see this becoming quite popular. Layers really well with Babycat.

As a guy, I love wearing this. Yes it opens with a light floral, but unless you’re unsure of your pronoun or have insecurity issues, it’s totally unisex. The vanilla joins in within seconds and brings out that delicious BDK suede leather vibe. On me, the suede wears more light floral & caramel. It’s a similar salted caramel note I find in Nishane’s Tero. I would describe this as a mature scent because when it’s dressed up, it makes an impact without screaming. It may not be the star of the show, but it definitely rubs shoulders with it. Soft and refined, yet it leaves a trail which lingers into yesterday. If I ranked BDK’s leather scents from light to heavy it would be (1) Créme de Cuir (2) Vanille Leather and (3) Ambre Saffrano. If you want an elegant, sophisticated leather to easily wear in all situations, this is the house.

So this perfume has a lot of my favourite notes. I love vanilla, violets, tuberose, and a well made leather accord. So no surprises, I adore this! It's a sophisticated sweet vanilla, with violets coming secondary and then complemented by a soft leather, and most importantly, a leather that doesn't smell like oily car seats, but rather a leather purse. The white florals also add a nice touch. Regarding the immature comments saying this is a grandma smell, i think you people need a little growing up to do, or just enjoy your gourmand fruity florals, ariana grandes and cookie smells in peace, since this perfume is obviously not for you. If you like stuff like Insolence, Putain des Palaces, Orchidee Vanille, Valentina Poudre, Kelly Caleche and everything vanilla, you'll probably enjoy this as much as I do!

As an aloof complicated person (think sigma female or dark academia), I have a special love for the cold, rainy day floral vibes of violet leaf. I own Molinard's Violet, Guerlain Rose Cherie, Balenciaga's Paris, Paris Rose and L'eau Essense. This BDK fragrance was fairly low on my list to test, but I'm pleasantly surprised. There's something incredibly elegant, subtle and beautiful here--steely violet leaf, vanilla, a sweet, citrus cream note. The florals are seamlessly blended, but I primarily get orange flower in dry down. If you want a true powdery leather, I suggest Bottega Venetta. I'm puzzled by the comments of "mature"--this is not mature at all on my skin--it's dusty, sweet vanilla and pure elegance in an aloof, modern sensibility. It's so beautiful, I may snag a full bottle. I love this.

I think this is my favorite DR creation! I think it has a vintage vibe, it reminds me of another perfume, but I can’t figure out which. If you don’t like beast mode classic ambers or mature scents this probably won’t appeal to you. I can see this as an amped up higher quality Hypnotic Vanilla so maybe that’s the association I am making. I will have to compare the two. I do make out the leather, but I am very sensitive to that note and I like it here. It’s ruined a few for me. I can make out a hint of all the notes, but they are blended so beautifully. Vanille Leather is kind of animalic in the beginning, but that does go away. The dry down is heavenly. One of the best amber perfumes I’ve smelled that would make a great special occasion perfume

This is Police "Forbidden". Which I'm not mad about because I ADORE forbidden by police but it is identical in my opinion. It is warm vanilla, ambery, it's a classic vanilla Amber perfume and it's deliciously caramelly and gourmand with an added underlying perfume waft of leather which for me is like less manly leather more bmw fancy car that's owned by a woman. It has this delicate vibe to it. It's a beautiful fragrance, perfect for autumn or winter - warm, caramel, vanilla, amber, with whispers of floral and leather (that perfumed leather). It's gorgeous. If you don't want to spend $400 on a bottle look for Police Forbidden (perhaps discontinued) or police born to shine - both gourmand vanilla amber scents.

Non-gourmand yet delectable, this scent features a smooth vanilla and leather, a decent amount of tuberose, hints of pepper, and powdery violet-orris mid. The vanilla is remarkably smooth, while the leather is soft and buttery. If you like perfumes like Cuir Beluga, La Regent, Marfa, Rêve de Cashmere, you may appreciate this fragrance, as it shares facets with each without being similar. I find it unisex but feminine leaning in the extreme dry-down. It smells mostly of just an elegant vanilla after about 4-5 hours, quite intoxicating. Overall, a gorgeous scent. Two sprays lasted over 10 hours on my skin with soft projection after the initial 3-4 hours.

To me this is the best of the BDK fragrances. It's similar to Memo African Leather, but is sweeter in scent and very aromatic. It is definitely unisex worn by both my wife and me. It has an addictive scent that you cannot ignore. It's strong, projects well and is long lasting. Vanille Leather can be worn all year, however, in the summer it's probably better in the evening, as it leans slightly heavy - not cloying or headache inducing. It's a luxury scent worth every penny. It could easily be worn as a signature scent. I could not imagine anyone not loving this fragrance. Definitely a life-long fragrance that I will never be without.

MASTERPIECE. Probably my fav from BDK after having smelled 10 of their fragrances. It's perfectly unisex, unlike others from this house that claim they're unisex but are instead very masculine. Full bottle worthy. For me, this replaces TF Tobacco Vanille. I don’t have much experience with a leather note but in here it’s so creamy and beautiful, doesn’t overpower the other notes. Reminds me also of BDK Velvet Tonka (my other BDK favourite), but Vanille Leather is not as light and is more masculine giving it the perfect unisex quality. I also get that this is violet-heavy but I have no problem with that. God this is so good.

Super warm and cozy scent. I tested this once in the store and had never heard of BDK before. I went through their collection one by one, and the moment I reached Vanille Leather, I immediately liked it. It has a soft, velvety character that drifts smoothly. I am usually not a fan of leather notes in fragrances, but in this case I actually wish there were slightly more of it. I kept thinking about buying it afterward. I also tested YSL Babycat, but Vanille Leather stood out by a wide margin. I recommend it to anyone looking for a vanilla-leather combination where the leather note is present but not overpowering.

I can't understand why this is receiving a unisex rating when it is so incredibly feminine! It is a STRONG powerful vanilla with white leather accord, the overwhelming powdery dry down means that after a few hours it gives me an ick. It is also a beast frag and you'll smell this on your clothes for days after. I wish it didn't have the powdery dry down because otherwise it would be such a stunning and rich vanilla! But it's just too mature after a few hours :( that said, on a VERY COLD wintery day it's still lovely and the opening is kind of worth the dry down haha but only on a super bleak day.

Vanille leather is a gorgeous floral vanilla with a slight nuance of leather/suede. Its pretty complex. You get a little bit of fresh spicy from the pink pepper and the oak wood makes this smell different from most of the other floral fragrances out. The violet, iris and vanilla create this beautiful powderiness and the balmy white florals are stunning. I bought 2 samples and I can tell right now that im absoloutly going to fly through them. This may be full bottle worthy for me or at least worth a bigger decant. Something to get me by until this makes its way to the discount sites.

Addictive!! Amber florals wrapped in delicate leather. I mostly get candied violets, vanilla, soft leather and patchouli. This is elegant and different. The drydown is delicious, like caramalised vanilla, burnt caramel vibes (no smoke factor though). If you want an elegant smelling vanilla frag, if you like violets and leather, this combo is a win. It leans more feminine to my nose. This would be bomb in the colder months. Sample it, not a safe blind buy as many do not enjoy the note of violets and for some in this combo, it might not be a win. I do love it, for me it is a win🤎🤎🤎🤎🤎

smells like zayed airport in abu dhabi... i have been to that airport once in my life, for a connection. the moment i smelled this i remembered waiting at the gate for my flight to seoul with a bunch of other exchange students. we all knew we were going to the same place for the same reason, and yet none of us spoke to each other. still the best airport i've ever been in. i love this. very elegant, not extremely sweet vanilla. i don't smell the leather at all, but my guess is that wearing leather while wearing this would be very hot. contemplating buying a full bottle.

As noted, the violet is quite prominent, which for me was a plus as I've been on the hunt for a vanilla-violet fragrance that doesn't read too girly or too vintage. On my skin, I get a really smooth suede note as well, which adds a rich "texture." I don't pick up on the white florals at all, nor do I detect much if any patchouli. I can see how from the name, this may not meet expectations. But for me, it's a delightful violet, musky suede with a powdery vanilla, benzoin base. Very enjoyable and long lasting.

Vanille Leather has been my go-to vanilla scent for the past few months and introduction to the house of BDK. To me it's a really stunning soft plain vanilla fragrance with the slightest hints of woody-leather. A great fall-winter or a cold weather scent that can be sprayed on during both day and night. It has the right amount of sweetness, the longevity is there while the projection is something to be desired but it still performs very well. Rating: 8.5/10;

I think this is such a beautiful perfume. Unisex but leans feminine in my opinion. I am not a fan of leather notes, but this leather note is just barely there. I smell the violet for sure and the orange blossom and orris. It is smooth, soft, and slightly powdery. The vanilla adds a little sweetness but not much. Also, it lasts longer than my other BDK fragrances and stays on clothing for at least 2 days. I have this on my wishlist for this next fall.

I'm surprised no one is comparing this one to Celeste by Giardini di Toscana. It has the same candied violet dominant note, except Celeste goes in a more floral direction and this is more vanilla / powdery since it has more iris. Both are lovely but this is definitely more unisex. Suede accord is definitely there but it's more of a dry vanilla sugar coated violet candy. Really like it. Gonna be wearing my travel size a lot these days.

Love this, It ́s my signature scent. It ́s like I have found a less spicy/more feminine version of Dior Homme Parfum/Intense. Sweet leathery vanilla, iris, violet, tuberose. All my favourite notes in one perfume. Initial spray is not my favourite (I actually didn ́t like the perfume the first time i tried it, due to the initial spray) , but after 10 minutes, it ́s divine. The smell on clothes after I have worn this is just pure magic.

Vanille Leather by BDK is a magnificent scent for the man (or woman) that want a really simple but powerful scent. The vanilla with the orris and leather combination really brings a lot of maturity to this fragrance. To me this feels like what Prada L'Homme sets to do - but on a much higher level. This works for every season, day or night, when you want to feel elevated. Out of all the BDK perfumes I've sampled - this is the best one.

It wasn't love at first sniff but wow did it grow on me. This has a dusty powder element that is reminiscent of my grandmother's makeup drawer but more modern, deep resinous and quite cosy. I really like this A LOT. I am currently wearing it on an overcast, cool and rainy spring day and it is perfect for this kind of conditions. The dry down is particularly enticing. A solid release and one that is full bottle worthy. Gorgeous.

I don’t really think this is wearable for a woman in a flattering way. It feels leather-dominant, dark vanilla, smoky, unisex but clearly masculine-leaning and quite harsh. Maybe it could work for night time or special occasions, but even then it doesn’t move in a feminine direction for me. If a man wears it, then yes – I would find it very attractive, especially for a winter date or an intimate setting.

Oh yes! This is so beautiful. Opening is powdery violet and jasmine with a hint of orange blossom. Thankfully as I usually don't like orange blossom. Fantastic blending on the florals. On the dry down on my skin, It is a soft powdery vanilla with hints of purple florals and a tiny bit of suede. I LOVE IT! On a a chilly windy day, this is magical. My partner really loves this on me which is always nice.

it smells like the name, sweet vanilla-y leather. i dont get the white florals that much, and the leather isnt over powering at all, i usually dont like leather but love this. If you like leather-heavy fragrances this isnt it. its a very feminine fragrance. Longevity is there as well. Its a soft scent that is noticable but doesnt really scream. Reminds me of a rich business woman in her 30s.

One for the elegant one with a capsule wardrobe, who only uses leather bags and shoes, enjoys white florals and warm drinks at their favourite luxury hotel in the city. A sophisticated gourmand, initially cozy but leans into being more sexy. Best for colder weather, definitely for autumn and winter.

Opulent complex floral on a bed of vanilla pods. Drydown brings out the leather note but it never overpowers. This smells natural and never turns aggressive. I love it and wish I could add it to my collection but Vanilla Leather is a bit out of reach on a teachers salary. Wish BDK Parfums made a 30 ml size.

I wore this today for the first time and I have had many compliments. It is a cold autumn day and this scent is very comforting, beautifully blended vanilla and soft leather (not overpowering). Makes me feel very warm, comfortable and elegant all at the same time. Glad I got the full bottle, it is worth it.

This fragrance should've been called Violet Vanille or Vanille Violet because I barely smell leather. This is a sweet violet vanilla scent and it's very feminine. I also smell caramel even though it's not one of the notes. It's similar to Eilish #1. I can't wait to get a full bottle!

I get a lot of vanilla, but not sickly sweet or overly gourmand. The leather is fairly soft, agree with other reviewers who have compared it to suede. The pink pepper makes it pop, just enough to make it that much more interesting. Overall, very elegant unisex fragrance. I love it!

Testing my sample; this is a soft suede blanket dusted in vanilla, orris, and violet body powder. Warm, soft, and lightly sweet, perfect for cuddling. Autumn & winter only, great for relaxing indoors or running errands on a casual day. Definitely full bottle worthy.

My God this is very beautiful! This has a big time Wow factor. Such a beautiful vanilla, with flowers and sweet leather. Gris Charnel is one of my favorite fragrances of all time, and now I'm debating if this takes number one spot for BDK 10/10

Absolutely love this cozy comforting and elegant fragrance. Feeling of being wrapped in a silk cocoon. Smooth vanilla with delicate suede, accented by iris and touch spicy but just enough to make smooth and complex.

FINALLY a BDK that I love! Such a gorgeous release. Carnal florals, mixed with a sensual, ambery sweet vanilla, buttery orris, and a ribbon of suede gently gliding through it. AMAZING release.

On my skin this smells like sweet vanilla and creamy tuberose with some spices (unsure which notes give this impression, maybe the benzoin?) I think it's quite lovely for cold weather.

this is a complex composition of non gourmand vanilla, you get it all first its powdery musky and creamy. It drys down to a sweet vanillin leather cozy sent.
