Love the leather tobacco dry-down. The combination with tuberose is very unique.

Very unique, dark scent. Must try; not for everyone.

Tuberai sounds like an offensively well-funded deep learning startup, doesn’t it? Tuber.ai uses artificial intelligence for rational fragrance design, searching through trillions of possible compounds... Well, like most things that end in .ai, Tuberai starts off fascinating and glamorous, but the more you learn about it, the more it stinks. The first thing I get is the tuberose/leather combination, with maybe a hint of the sandalwood and frankincense in the complexity underneath. The tuberose is glorious and lush, while the leather and wood makes me think of a James Bond villain’s lair from the early 60′s, all Mies Van De Rohe chairs, sleek leather and chrome and cool shady concrete. Space-age elegance. Put it on my skin for a few minutes, though, and the “tobacco” comes through, and what it smells like is cigarette smoke. If I wore this in real life I’d just smell like a smoker. The tuberose vanishes, leaving only Eau De Lung Cancer.

Initially it smelled great. Like a midcentury modernist house that a Bond villain would live in. Beautiful airy tuberose cut by leather and sandalwood. Makes me think of deep, cool shady concrete and glass on a summer day. After the drydown, though, the tuberose disappeared and I just got TOBACCO. It basically just made me smell like a smoker. And it went from masculine-of-center unisex to just plain masculine, which doesn't work for me.
