Babe (2015)

I wore the original Babe in the late 70s and early 80s. I ordered a bottle of this from England, as I cannot find anyone in the US that sells this recreation. I find that it really does smell similar to the original, only it seems much stronger to me. Then I realized this is an eau de parfum and all of the bottles I had long ago were eau de toilette or cologne. I still find it missing something, and it seems much "greener" to me than the original. I have used about 1/3 of the bottle I ordered and will continue to wear it.

This smelled very different from expected, I had seen the vintage adverts, and read about it a lot. The ads are softly romantic and aimed at teenagers. This is spicy, very warm, and sexy. I don't love it, but I do like it. It is green and woody in the fade down, with hints of powder. Could easily be unisex in modern times. I really don't think a modern teen would wear it, this is a more mature scent now.

I finally got a sample of this. I wore Faberge Babe as my signature in the early - mid 70s and I'm fortunate to still have a nice stash of it in both cologne and perfume, but wouldn't it be wonderful to be able to just buy it if I run out? Well Beauty Brand Developments version isn't going to help me there. I didn't even have to put it side by side with the Faberge to determine that these are two entirely different fragrances. BBD may please some people with a nostalgic itch to scratch - as long as they weren't ever regular Babe users. It's not an unpleasant scent, but it's not Babe. Right out of the gate it's *very* green, has no raspberry, no notable aldehydes, has a spicy thing that I think is caused by ambrette. Putting the Faberge next to it the differences are just glaring. I don't know what sort of flowers BBD is trying to portray but the only thing that comes through clearly to me is a chemical violet, while Faberge Babe has Rose, Hyacinth, Jasmine, Carnation at various moments without having to look for them. Faberge is lightly sweet, BBD is green. Strong Orris in the Faberge. So TLDR from a lifetime Faberge user: not worth seeking out if you are after a replica of the original. Not an awful fragrance of it's own for people who want a modern with what will seem like a 70s touch if you weren't actually there for the 70s.

Just received a sample a few days ago (yay!!!) This is such a great perfume! It is much less floral than I had expected. Its a fairly green musky scent , and I honestly can not compare it to any other perfumes I have tried recently I expected it to be more of a loud vintage type of scent, but this is quite modern and soft, but sillage is fantastic and so is longevity , it is very well blended, the only floral note I can pick out is the violet, and I am pretty sure that is what my nose is reading as green, this is not a cool green scent like some other perfumes, this is very warm and inviting. I can not believe they ever discontinued this and I can now understand why so many people on here are sad that it was. I have not recently smelled the old one, so I can not compare, but it certainly smells familiar which leads me to think I must have known a few people who wore it the first time around (I felt a strong pang of nostalgia when I first put it on) , so perhaps it is quite similar to the original as the other reviewer says.

I was thrilled when I was bought this as a gift, it's not exactly the same as the original but I really enjoy wearing it. The fragrance has a very powdery, green, hyacinth vibe, very long lasting and quite classy. I would love to have a bottle of the original again but this is very similar and has reminded me of being a young teen, This was the first fragrance I owned.
