Colors de Benetton Woman Blue

I was on a blue/freshy/soapy kick a few summers back. Wanted a lemon-forward citrus for the season, but citrus isn't really my thing, so I wasn't feeling spendy. This humble little darling ticked off all my boxes and delivered what I wanted. Very lemon-forward, tart, mouth watering at the top, but you get the light white musk throughout. The standout note in this composition is the mate, keeping it dry, like desert parched dryness, and making it interesting, that dry note counter balancing the tangy lemon. It is not a sweet scent, gentle is a better description. It's refreshing, unique and youthful. A happy scent. No hint of lemon cleaner, Windex or Pine-Sol, which citrus scents can smell like for some people. Sillage is soft, but it lasts on skin and clothes, surprising for citrus and an eau de toilette. I love smelling it wafting off my laundry the next day. It's soothing and relaxing. Perfect little cheapie for running errands or hitting the gym. I can see a yoga mom loving this. I enjoy it more than costlier perfumes in my small, deliberately curated collection of affordable little gems, and the bright island water paradise blue bottle is quite pretty.

I'm thinking of blind-buying this because of the "Reminds me of" list above, particularly the comparison to Chanel's Cristalle. Update: March 15, 2022- I'm wearing it with Jean Patou's 1000 and they are both better for it. I never liked 1000 and kept it mostly as curiosity to my fledgling scent library and to keep my nose educated but I am enjoying it for the first time now. I have yet to sample Chanel's Cristalle which I was convinced I would love at first sniff and is the original reason I bought Benetton Blue. Update December 19, 2022 Benetton Blue was a lifesaver this past summer with the high humidity and unrelenting sunlight. The citrus and aromatic elements were not only refreshing but an actual morale booster. In the depths of the winter solstice season I spritzed some on after a shower and dressed immediately and smell it 2 days later on my clothes. This is currently my favorite "cheapie" and it performs like anything but...

I have This and I absolutely love it. Love at first spray. Definitely a unisex fragrance. Reminds me a whole lot of rag and bone genmaicha, absolutely brilliant, beautiful. This may be my signature scent

Soft, powdery citrus. Smells like a nice quality soap. I think it’s perfect for the office. Non offensive and pleasant. Not memorable but office scents need not be. I think it leans unisex. I could see a man wearing this. It smells clean without being astringent. Starts off a little peppery and settles into a soft powder.

nostalgic perfume. I had it, and it was ok. imagine: you're standing on cottage and you looking in the window. breeze, slight wind from beach, and there's table with fruits on it. overall, i rate this perfume as a 6.3/10. this perfume literally so standart and common.

I do not smell much citrus in this one. It smells more like a flower scented soap. White flowers with a little bit of powder. It is not bad, but I came for citrus.

I'm not sure how to feel about this one. I blind bought it because it was like $10 on FragranceNet and got some promising reviews here. It's a women's "freshie" and yet it's almost masculine to my nose. The fact that freesia and orange blossom are listed as notes stop it from entirely being a "man's" fragrance, but I couldn't detect those notes personally. I could definitely see a man, or a person of any gender really, pulling this one off. It's a little aromatic, usually a quality of fragrances that I hate, but I don't hate it. But I also don't love it. The opening is the most aromatic part to me, in spite of the top notes all being citrus-based. Then in the middle I get something watery, yet fresh, more like a river than an ocean. I do get the cedar in the drydown, with some of the mate hanging around, but subtly. I'm not sure that it's my style. Usually I love sweet, gourmand, fruity, and/or floral fragrances, but I wanted to try something different here. It's definitely unique. But I kind of like it? But I kind of don't? I don't know. I might try it a few more times before deciding whether or not to keep it. I feel like it might benefit from being paired with a sweet coconut fragrance, at least to suit my style. Edit: Paired it with La Nuit Tresor Nude and I do like it better! Still not sure about this one overall though. Edit 2: I think it's too masculine for me. Adding it to my swap shelf if anyone wants it.

This is a pretty unusual fragrance in my collection, and I'm frankly surprised it doesn't have lavender in it. It has the same flannel-like and laundry detergent-like quality (in a good way) as Burberry Brit Rhythm, and dries down in a similar way, although the start is very different (I definitely smell the vegetal quality of the mate (although it's not bitter, like proper mate would be - maybe more matcha?), and it's nice and fresh as well). It is named well, because I definitely visualized 'blue' as I smelled it first. I'll have to try it a few more times to see if it's a keeper, but so far I like it.

This might be confusing since the only other review below tells of the opposite. At first spritz, the lemon is very pronounced, the greenness lingers for a while, the floral scent is very faint and light. So what stays is mainly the citrus scent that carries a tinge of white floral, which overall gives it your beach and summer scenario. Surprisingly I even find this lighter than EA's Mediterranean. The latter carries this heaviness brought about by the saltiness of the scent.
