Supersolid

supersolid is not what i expected in a skinscent based on its notes. i expected it to be very mandarin-fronted, but on me, it smells like a chilly lavender with the amber and abroxan adding a sort of warm cloud around it. that being said, it is instead very amber-fronted. supersolid is truly hard to describe! id say this fragrance is unisex and reminds me of what an angel would smell like. ever so slightly metallic and lavender but warm like sunlight, like some sort of supernatural presence descends on you in a lavender field, wraps its arms around you, and floats back from whereever it came from. another commenter says it smells like what theyd expect people from the future to wear, and i agree. its sterile in a warm way. after it dries thoroughly and sinks into the skin more, the amber takes over and the lavender becomes more of a shadow, ghosting on the exhale. supersolid usually lasts for a long time on me, though it becomes very faint a few hours in, which is to be expected with skinscents. definitely will not be projecting at all any time soon, which is a bit disappointing, but it makes wearing supersolid more of a personal experience. you wear this fucked up amber lavender orange concoction and only you get to enjoy it. big fan 10/10

This is one of those "your skin but better" scents. Probably because it's big on ambroxan. It doesn't have much of a blast of fragrance, but it's clean, smooth and pleasant. But to me very lovely and addictive to smell. I could wear it to bed or to the office to just smell clean and nice. It doesn't really project much. But you can smell it and someone can smell it if they're in your bubble. It's such a strange fragrance that is so synthetic, cold and unatural that it makes me imagine that it would be something people in the future would wear. But to me that's a good thing. It's nice and I enjoy smelling it.

Ambroxan power house, it reminds me a lot of Cheeky Smile by Jusbox (one of my favorites from that house). If I didn’t already have a bottle of Cheeky Smile I’d be all over this. However, this does distinguish itself with added freshness of citrus and lavender. It has a very synthetic amber smell, to it, however that is certainly not a negative, but it combined with the citrus gives a metallic twang on the top notes. I really can’t place the labdanum in the composition however.

Exactly the type of fragrance I love. Ambroxan fragrances often have trouble with projection, but this one is great. The mandarin in this reminds me of Imaginary Authors' Saint Julep, a fragrance that I liked but had very little longevity. Supersolid is the best of both worlds, but a little goes a long way. Don't overspray this.

I see the votes for this leaning more male but to me it is like the more female version of DS&D’s I Don’t Know What. It’s so perfectly cold with the slightest sweetness from the mandarin that almost warms up & settles into something so cozy.

Great skin scent wow. Delicate syrupy amber. On me this is basically Not a Perfume with better projection, so I'll be wearing it instead of the former.

I was so incredibly excited to receive my discovery set from Binaurale, which contains their six current fragrances. For each fragrance, I have done a blind smell test, only after thoroughly taking in the scent and determining a true and thoughtful opinion, I will review the notes. After this test, I have worn each scent for a full day, one by one, all on their own. No layering. This is the second day of my scent inspired adventure, and today I chose Supersolid. First smell you will notice is Amber. It is very Amber heavy. Which makes sense, it is the base scent. I do feel as if the Mandarin and Lavender notes are a pass-by, you might be able to grasp onto said scents for a moment, but then it melds back into a fusion of Amber, and something sweet and playful, yet almost metallic. So far, all of these scents mentally paint a picture that a sci-fi geek or liminal space lover day-dream of. Maybe it is just what I wore today, but this scent doesn't seem to have the longevity that "Happy Hardcore" did, but, I digress, this scent is still, super solid. 8.3/10.

A hug from an ice queen. An ambroxan enigma, a study in duality. Chilly, windswept lavender meets magma-thick honey. It’s like forging from the ski slopes into a toasty resort, or leaping from steam sauna to cold plunge. This is the only scent that seems to get stronger for me after I spray it. I must be totally blind to the mandarin top note, because all I get is a dim, vague sweetness that crescendos into lavender honey fifteen minutes later. However, it's not saccharine in the slightest. The lavender keeps the amber clinically clean and perfectly balanced. Mental Snapshot: You’re the sole visitor in an art gallery, housed in a whitewashed Victorian. It’s a gallery of impossible objects. Coquette bows of stainless steel, blown glass kettlebells, silk lace shurikens. The gallery owner wears a lab coat and a chiffon gown. You feel out-of-place, an imposition, but she spends the whole night furnishing you with shortbread and tea. tl;dr: frozen honey ❄️🍯

What I enjoy the most about Supersolid is how "soft" it is. Very much echoing other reviews on the "skin scent". There isn't much there, but that's what makes it feel so approachable. To me if comes off as a small bouquet of lavender with a mandarin peel hidden inside. If silage is something you want exploding off of you, I don't think will it hit that mark. I've only had people notice it sitting in close proximity to me like at a dinner table or in a car. That being said, it's the only scent in recent memory that I've received compliments on. As a guy in my late 20's, I've found unisex fragrances more and more appealing specifically due to their flexibility and uniqueness, which I feel this has a healthy amount of. Don't know if it's signature worthy, don't think it's the best for longevity or projection, but if I am ever in doubt on what to wear when it's nice outside, I can put this on and feel confident with my choice :)

An enigmatic, unique fragrance. There’s a bit of effervescence and sweetness from the orange and cleanliness from the lavender, but it’s cold and industrial at the same time from the Amber and Ambroxan. There’s no metallic notes but my mind always paints a picture of sparkling stainless steel or icicles when I smell this one. It’s my favorite from the line, and perfect for winter

This fragrance is interesting. It has a slightly synthetic smell, but it's not overpowering. It feels both warm and cool. I think it's best for casual nights out or a morning walk. Just don’t use too much.

This smells like the prettiest girl you know got in a terrible ice skating accident. The metallic note is strong; bloody and cold. Still pretty wearable though.

This reads very male on me, maybe due to the lavender + citrus which gives it a cologne-y vibe. It’s a very clean scent but with a nice warmth from the noticeable amber notes. Slightly sweet. Little projection.

this gets UBER STINKY after the top notes evaporate. I don’t know what the hell is going on, tbh. It’s beautiful and unisex initially, but within 30 minutes the labdanum is OVERPOWERING. My guess as to why it’s ranked so low in the profile is that people don’t understand it’s a musk smell, not a floral smell. I got this at the same time as Edeniste’s Vetiver Imaginaire, which I much prefer for its smoky Haitian vetiver and the way it cuts through the musk. It maintains the citrus note for longer too. While Vetiver Imaginaire is calming, this fragrance is jarring, and it’s especially upsetting because it becomes that out of nowhere after being pleasant for a bit lol.

The opening smells interesting, with the mandarin and lavender popping through and giving a sort of clean, liminal space vibe along the same lines as Another 13. But as soon as it dries down, all I get is scratchy, dusty ambroxan. Not for me.

This is so incredible. So soft, so warm, so feminine. I don’t get the “cold” scent that so many reviewers seem to smell. Clean and bright maybe but not cold. It smells like citrus and ambroxan. I will be purchasing a full bottle at some point. It reminds me of how my hands smell after I peel a clementine. I wish I smelled like this naturally. It has a very “this could be your skin” vibe, it’s not very overtly perfumey. I can’t stop smelling it, it really is perfect. sweet citrus. yummm

soooo much my kind of scent. a cold, skin-like fragrance that feels as strong (amborxan) as it is soft (lavender). reminds me of one of my favorites, l'eau papier, which i described as a scent that felt "just out of reach." this one, although just as skin-like, feels solid, firm, and fully present. this was my first full bottle purchase from this perfume house after receiving their samples, and i was pleasantly surprised by their entire collection.

Cool and fluid. Less solid than it's name would give the impression, this is a cooler lavender scent that has such nuance! The overall note impression gives this synthetic inky liquid, which I'm obsessed with. I would've guessed there is cardamom in the mix because of this sharp metallic thing in the beginning, but I dunno!

Super wearable skin scent. Subtly sweet from the mandarin, soft from the lavender. Nothing warm and ambery. Heavy on the ambroxan, so it meshes with skin pretty nicely. A tad masculine maybe, but ultimately just clean and unisex. These bottles are so funky, I didn't expect such approachable fragrances.

The most romantic and wearable from this line in my opinion. There’s a warmth on top of what feels cold and distant. The Amber and lavender are very prominent for me. Looking forward to wearing this!

The perfect hangover fragrance. For when you Wana smell good and seem like you're human but your headache is so bad you can't wear anything strong.

Citrus-Musk scents usually read "bug spray" on my skin and this one was no different, unfortunately. At least I'll be bug-free, I guess.
