Solstice

I am very new to perfume reviewing so bear with me. I wear this perfume very regularly, but I don’t necessarily like it if that makes sense. It was very expensive so I have definitely tried to trick myself into liking it more. It has a very sharp smell upon opening, something unnatural. I would describe it as a very strong “clean” smell that stings the nose. It is near headache-inducing at the beginning, but about an hour or two later it really settles down and is a faint reminder of what it used to be. I’m far more partial to the dry down, which is like a nice clean musk. Unfortunately I don’t get any “soft berries” or wild flower smells. It is all sharp and probably doesn’t work well on my skin to be honest.

Just discovered this brand and jumping the gun a bit with a review before I’ve reached the final dry down.. but the descriptions for all of them just sound so romantic. Anyway this one opens strongly neroli, a sharp almost metallic but nice neroli and then lavender and cashmere join it. This scent reminds me so much of my late auntie Audrey.. I always wondered what scent that was always in her home.. now I know it’s neroli but with something tempering it.. maybe musk. And a road in Surbiton England smells just like this too... maybe there is an orange scented plant there.. hmm

Opened with neroli and petigrain which were quite pleasant. Some lavender peeked in for a cameo appearance and vanished soon after. Then it got a little woody towards the dry down. Overall a pleasant scent that lingered for about four hrs on my skin. On clothing it was at least twice the length... so far about eight hrs and counting. Not the projecting type. Not really my type but got it just for my collection.

I swear this has linden blossom in it. It’s so much like a grove of linden trees

Update: the dry down is a clean cashmere musk.
