Pipe Bomb Pink

<3 This fragrance makes me so happy! I love that Nicole Miller explores the color pink and the idea that it is non-gendered. This fragrance is so completely different from what you'd expect and so unique from anything else, but also there's something about it that feels nostalgic. It's hard to explain, yet it's on the tip of your tongue. Reminiscent of something like fennel seed, caraway seed, or celery seed - mixed with metals - mixed with salt. It's subtle, but holds complexity and continuously mesmerizes and captures your intrigue as wafts swirl around you like butterflies throughout the day.

This is the first scent in a while that's really knocked me out. So different from anything else I have. "Pipe Bomb Pink" is a perfect name - it's metal, plastic and rubber wrapped in a rosy cocoon. I got a sample of this and Triton at the same time from Blackbird and love both of them, so will definitely be trying some of their other scents. It's exciting to come across a house doing such original work!

Oddly enough, I really like this. I work as an aircraft electrician so I'm not a stranger to burnt out electronics and that's what this reminds me of except for the subtle floral note instead of a pungent fishy smell that burnt circuit boards tend to have.

Lovely. Different than the OG. I would say softer perhaps but not lighter.

Soft, plastic, and metallic like rose with a fuzzy musky and salty backbone. This is such an interesting little fragrance that I just had to write a review about first. I have really been liking the whole line as I'm slowly making my way through it. I will warn you though that Blackbird does one thing perfect: odd. They make a lot of odd fragrance combinations and notes work somehow. These are definitely "niche" and pipe bomb pink is no different. It has this waxy/crayon like feel to it that is super interesting to smell, and it's honestly kind of addicting. It's very ethereal like its parent "pipe bomb", but with a bit more oomph throughout the entirety of the fragrance. This will be a head turner, and sometimes not for the right reason but I believe most people will love it. It reminds me of this after school child care I used to volunteer at for my old middle school. It really smells like the combination of all the smells that you get; from the ground down crayons, the musky old carpet, the smell of the teachers perfume, and this odd metallic smell from the ventilation. It's nostalgic of a midwestern middle school from the 80s-early 2010s and I like it for that reason. It's a little too feminine for my wear, but I might get this for a SO if they like it enough. I will say though that this is a great niche fragrance to get started with into niche perfume because of how light and airy it is. It's not a super heavy leather/saffron/oud bomb that chokes out the entire room when you step in. Decent longevity as well. Solid fragrance to remember the simpler times of your life.

I'm obviously no chemist and I understand that it's impossible to make some scents project into a crazy-large bubble. I also understand that that's not always the goal, and that there's often a magic to having a fragrance live so close to you, something personal and locked away behind the barrier of intimacy. Like an olfactory secret... But hell, my first thought was that I wished something with "bomb" in the title had a little more imposing of a radius. My nose is against my wrist every two minutes trying to pick out what's even happening. It's like eavesdropping with your ear up against the wall when your neighbors are fighting, attempting to piece together what the argument is about through muffled clues. Luckily, the payoff on Pipe Bomb Pink is indeed akin to a really juicy gossip. It's not so complex that you lose the plot through boring contexts, but compelling enough to poke for more details. A strange and exciting blend of salty, lactonic, and animalic. There's something a little sour, a little funky. And then I think, maybe it's better this way, maybe it'd be boring if it wasn't a secret.

Blind smelled this one. Unless you are a bloodhound, GOOD LUCK picking out the notes except for maybe rose in the drydown. Opening smells like ozone mixed with toothpaste. The toothpaste vibe isn't strong, more like a breeze through your bathroom while your spouse is brushing their teeth. This is likely from the aroma chemical they're using for the metallic element plus aquatic or incense molecule because I've smelled something similar before. The ozone molecules smell like running water. That smell of standing next to a fountain ⛲. I don't get salt but I get minerals. After 20 minutes the rose shows up. It's not jammy; it feels cold. Overall I like this one. This is like one of those molecule type scents (molecule 01, JHAG not a perfume). It's not best in class, I think that title belongs to Le Labo Another 13. But, this is pretty unique, inoffensive, pleasent smelling (in a niche way) and interesting. Pipe Bomb Explosion Underwater 💣 🫧 is a cool concept IMO. Scent: 6.7/10 Performance: TBD Update: late stage drydown smells like another 13. They must share some ingredients.

this one is quite similar to the original pipe bomb but it leans more metallic and less ambery on me. it has an added lightness from the rose, a soft floral and almost soapy, aldehydic quality which is pleasant. i don't have the same nostalgic connections to this scent that it seems to invoke for others, but i like it well enough. i prefer the original pipe bomb but if you want a lighter, more floral option, this is nice one of the more subtle and short-lived blackbird fragrances, but it is also fairly approachable

I adore naturals, but this is interesting as olfactory art. Smelling things is generally an obsession, so yea I've smelled this before. This metallic chemical was also used to devastating effect in Arquiste's Sydney Rock Pool, and like that perfume it seems to get stronger on me over time, it's very unpleasant. Here it's understated and supported by some ozonic element, fortunately, sillage is intimate. I'm guessing there are aldehydes here too helping to give an airy lift. It seems the perfumer is mostly working with the metallic chemical as inspiration, and I'll say nice job, it's a more subtle blend. The rose strikes me as a bit of an excuse to call this a perfume. It's more of an abstract study of an aromachemical, I would not wear this.

i don't know if it's the sample i got or what but this is so, so subtle, i have to douse myself in it if i want to be able to smell it without my nose touching my wrist. i know they say pipe bomb gets stronger the longer you let it sit but i want instant gratification. that said... this smells fucking incredible. if it does, in fact, get stronger, this might become daily wear. i wasn't expecting to get the crayon note but it comes through beautifully in the drydown. so childish and so adult. the ideal kind-of-rose perfume. (EDIT: after a long period of consideration i have determined the subtlety of this perfume is what makes it so wearable day to day. it is the only perfume in my collection that hasn't ever given me a migraine. pipe bomb pink my beloved forever.) song: treat me like a doll - girls rituals

If there is one thing Blackbird does not do, it's normal. Whatever you order from this house is going to be WEIRD. Pipe Bomb Pink smells like everything the description says. I definitely smell crayons and plastic doll. This smells like a kindergarten! The metallic note is so odd it almost hurts my teeth. I can't see like, spraying this on as a way to smell but as an olfactory art piece it is pretty amazing and worth checking out.

Like everyone else has said... This is unusual. Different from what we normally understand perfume to be, but still familiar. It took a little while to figure out what it reminded me of... To me, this smells like new carpet, with rose. Carpet, like the berber kind, particularly in a school or a medical building. Maybe part of it is the chemicals used to clean those carpets.

Soft, metallic rose. Different effect than the original Pipe Bomb but still very experimental and nice. Synthetic in a great way but not in the way fragrances tend to be. It brings to mind all of the random associations mentioned in the description and surely more. An arty scent. Kind of smells like fresh snow.

In the best way this reminds me of early 2000’s, being dropped off at books-a-million to play Pokemon lol. This smells identical to a new pack of cards or a brand new magazine with plastic still on it. It’s amazing... as for daily wear I’m on the fence, but thanks for a trip down memory lane!!

Love the 80s child vibes. Dolls and crayons. Not for everyone but comforting for me. I do not detect metallic notes personally. Very light!
