Y06-S

This is my discovery of the year! Truly stunning. From the start I am hit with fruity esters, that resemble more of a pear than banana, and shortly after, the "electronics accord" come into play - it is based on sclarene, which is famous for its hot iron vapor smell, alongside cashmeran and habanolide (probably), which also add to the warmth of the accord. And with this accord the fruity molecules start to smell like banana - but not the artificial candy banana like, for example, in horrible THOO L'Explicite, but the bitter and astringent banana peel! The banana note is very cleverly done, the best I've smelled to date. Additionally, the jasmine tea accord with minty undertones is playing in the background, freshening whole experience. This is a niche version of Hermes H24 (with hot iron smell amped to 11 and addition of banana), which should be enough of a recommendation in itself. And the fact that it predates H24 is just mindblowing.

When I first read the notes, and saw "Electronics" I was curious...I wasn't sure what to expect, and I'm not sure how to explain this, but it does smell like electronics. I remember being a kid in the 80s and sitting too close to the tv...and it had a burning smell, lol...which is kind of what this smells like, but in a DELICIOUS way. I love this, and get tons of compliments whenever I wear it.

I’ve really come around to this one. My boyfriend gave me a bottle a few years ago and I really could not understand what compelled him to get it. All I could get was a kind of dark spike piercing a cloud of bananas. More recently I’ve come to appreciate ylang ylang (which plays no small part in y06-s’s banana accord) in a new way, and it’s helped me to find a corresponding new appreciation for this bottle languishing on my shelf. Y06-s opens with a strong ylang ylang burst. Yes, it’s banana-like facets are amped up, but it also has a slight powderiness and gives a distinct humid impression, like you just opened the door to a greenhouse full of blooming tropical plants. The milk notes emphasize the gourmand quality of ylang-ylang. Indeed, there is a family resemblance to the steaming banana pudding of January Scent Project’s Horla. But Y06-S is much more approachable, considering you aren’t averse to a tropical woody floral. It also leans more masculine than Horla (although both are weird enough that I doubt you or anyone around you will bring any strongly gendered associations to this fragrance). Amidst this hazy, ripe, fruity-floral cloud, a certain zing begins to make itself known. I agree with other reviewers that somehow the “smell” of static electricity has been captured here, and soon this olfactory point blooms into a robust overheated electronics accord. It really is convincing! And oddly appealing. After the first few minutes, these illusionistic impressions morph into something more perfume-like: slightly creamy, humid florals floating above a dry, woody base. There is a hint of sharp spice (cumin?), as well, but incredibly Y06–S does not veer into gourmand territory, remaining an interesting interplay of distinct floral and woody halves. I really do like it. There is an atmospheric quality to it, like being in a greenhouse warmed by the sun where both the plants and the tools and tables made of a variety of plastics and woods emit their perfumes. And as the classic perfume components take off their avant-garde masks, you may even find yourself transported to teatime with your maiden aunt in her solarium. A delightful bait and switch.

Artistic, modern and innovative. Do you like bananas? because this is a banana bomb! Y06-S is completely different and unique scent with artistic take on perfumery. Kind of a "hipster" scent, in the most positive way. With that said, it is not for everyone. The scent opens up with heavy dose of bright florals and banana, also this dry and slightly sharp electronics note of circuit boards, electronic chips giving this almost metallic nuance, but it smoothens pretty quick with more prominent jasmine and creamy milk note, oud is also there in the dry-down, but it always stays in the background, while the banana and jasmine shines throughout and are the main dominant notes of the fragrance. The scent is awesome and modern, I like it most for the warmer weather, I feel like it is perfect for the beach and sunny outdoor activities, just light on the trigger. It was a hot summer day, and the sun hung low as shades of pink and yellow blanketed the horizon. Summer break would end in a few weeks, but sixth grade still felt like a distant thought. Stepping into the old arcade with a few dollars in your pocket, you were greeted by the hum of aging machines, a sound that carried a comforting warmth. Sipping on a banana smoothie while your friend loaded another game of air hockey, you felt perfectly at ease among the glowing lights and the laughter of kids in the background. The air buzzed with joy, though a quiet sense of finality lingered just beneath the surface. That night would be the last time you walked through those doors; soon, the arcade would vanish, replaced by a movie theater. Even now, in your twenties, you find yourself reminiscing about that evening. Smell: 7 Longevity: 8 Versatility: 3 Uniqueness: 10 Value: 6 Layering compatibility: 3 Overall: 6.2

I wouldn't say this is a 'banana' perfume. Power of suggestion is doing a lot here because Ylang Ylang sometimes has this banana smell, and it's like ylang, but it's also like circus peanuts candy. Opening is banana/ylang/circus peanuts and something like static electricity (petrichor?). But 10 minutes later it's all jasmine, the slightly minty, warm, and fresh kind. My goodness this perfume is so ephemeral.. It also doesn't rise off the skin much. Admittedly, I don't spray heavily but it takes 3 sprays before I can smell anything without putting my nose close. It also develops very quickly and is over within an hour. I really like it anyway, it is creative and I've never smelled anything quite like it before. Worth a sniff for white floral lovers, it's really not that weird. :)

Overall, this scent is predominately jasmine to me. The banana is loud, but brief, in the opening and is quickly toned down by the milk and jasmine notes–– making it incredibly tolerable. The fragrance settles to a long lasting fresh creamy floral. I can't seem to pick up on the electronic aspect of the composition–– although, I didn't grow up in front of the CRT television sets mentioned in other comments, so the tv static reference is lost on me. The agarwood/oud addition is also very discrete. Ultimately, I find this fragrance to have a sunscreen aspect to it, but in the most complementary way. It's not overly synthetic; I actually find it quite natural smelling. It's milky, floral, and slightly tropical–– perfect for spring and summer.

I love banana candy, and if you do as well, this is just the stuff. This is a cold banana scent, and it stays close to the skin. Gone in a few hours...

Y06-S is kind of gross to me, so I'm not sure why I keep going back to smelling it on my wrist instead of vigorously washing it off. Immediately, my mind goes to "dirty arcade carpet," but the more I ponder on it, the more I am receptive to and enjoying the offensively loud banana and melted plastic combo. And after thinking about it for 30 seconds, I seriously contemplate buying a bottle as someone who totally fawns over the juxtaposition of traditionally fruity florals with abstract and experimental notes like "electronics." But I don't want anyone to think I smell like a dirty arcade carpet, so I will refrain. I was hesitant to rank this as "OK" since it's not that it's unremarkably acceptable, but rather that I dramatically ebb and flow between thinking it's the most unique and beautiful thing I've smelled in a long time to it triggering my gag reflex, and I don't know how else to rate it. Genuinely one of the most puzzling things I've ever consumed, maybe across all mediums.

literally made me say "woah" out loud when i first sprayed it it's a tropical greenhouse, humid and overflowing with white florals and banana trees. then, there's a static spark, a mechanical error in the sprinkler system, producing the chemically aroma of melting plastic and charged air. i actually find that the banana fades into the background after not too long. i think it resolves into a surprisingly green and floral electronic smell. it's definitely synthetic, but that's not always a bad thing i fully expected to hate this but i am so pleasantly surprised. it is weird, but it's not as off-putting as the description may make it seem. it's a bit more fruity and floral than i personally prefer to wear, but i promise this is actually wearable

It smells somewhat similar to the drydown of Olympic Orchid's Tropic of Capricorn, so you should like it if Tropic is your cup of tea. Both fragrances are widely recognized as weird, but I don't find them too weird or shocking, to be honest. It's more a "hmm" than a "whoa". Y06-S also doesn't smell like a realistic banana or TV to me. There's a slightly acetonic note that resembles this aspect of banana, there's a note of overripe fruit or decaying jasmine, and there's a note of hot iron, but not necessarily an old TV. Definitely very animalic and milky.

While generally I don’t review fragrances that I don’t like (unless I somehow felt personally attacked by them and I had to be spiteful and petty about it) this one is so bizarre I can’t stop thinking about it, and if I’m thinking about it so much, I am probably going to write about it, and if that’s the case, it seems like a waste not to share those thoughts here, too. So, to get yourself in the mindset for this one, imagine the Lynchian dissonance and incongruity of the fish in the coffee percolator. This is neither fishy nor coffee-beany, but I think you know what I mean. Initially, this is a fleeting whiff of Korean banana milk, and overheated electronics, maybe the chubby plastic container spontaneously combusted, splattering frothy banana juice and frying circuit boards, and the whole arcade catches fire and burns down. The metallic ozone and static of sparking wires eventually and somehow inevitably– in the way dream logic feels perfectly reasonable and rational – gives way to a monstrously animalic indolic jasmine and somehow inexplicably becomes a barely perceptible smoky floral skin scent. I don’t think Y06-S is a scent you wear; it's an experience you endure. It’s bizarre and bewildering and a little bit nauseating, but I think it’s a good reminder that perfume is an art form, and art shouldn’t always be easy to digest. It should make us think a little bit.

What a strange, strange perfume! First blast was BANANAS. Within five minutes it smelled like warm electronics and urine!!! I wondered if I should shower it off but I thought no, let's see how this plays out. Within an hour the banana note was gone completely and it was jasmine and oud. Still smells like urine to my nose but I've asked a couple coworkers and they don't smell urine at all. I'm guessing there is a certain type of jasmine that my nose interprets as pee pee. Same thing happened for me with Jean Patou Joy, which is a classic that everyone seems to love but on me smells like wet diaper. So I'm not saying this is a bad fragrance, your mileage may vary. However, it is strange for sure. If you're into bizarre scents, try a sample of this one.

This is truly a gorgeous perfume. It starts off bright and sharp with the electronic note and strong smell of banana, almost candied. Quickly the banana ripens and we get a yellow creamy phase, The jasmine is a bit indolic, creamy, sweet. Both are there in even measure, with the subtle electronics note keeping it from being heavy in the heat and humidity. Almost fuzzy. Then the oud dominates more in the drydown, the banana is ripe and sweet, ready for banana bread. The fragrance feels fuzier, but is still a banana jasmine perfume. This is the first time I've enjoyed a remotely indolic jasmine, so smooth and sweet but not saccharine throughout the heart and drydown of the scent. FBW

never thought i would find a perfume that manages to capture the smell of static?? there's definitely an electric buzz element to it that somehow feels warm when you inhale. i can't say it's exactly pleasant. thankfully it subsides after a few minutes. strong initial banana + static softens when the jasmine makes an appearance. it's not quite creamy enough for me to acknowledge a lactonic note though. certainly an interesting scent but can't envision an occasion where i would want to wear this

It smells exactly like an old TV screen after you've turned it off. Like static and plastic. Like something you could stick a balloon to with the power of static electricity. I can barely pick up any banana. This is very odd and definitely not something I will wear again, but I bet there's someone out there who really misses that static TV smell from their childhood and this is that person's holy grail.

Miguel Matos's Fragrantica review is spot on. Authentic top and middle banana notes with a burnt circuit base smell. In addition, I was hit by a blue cheese whiff that disappears quickly unless you are fixated on it. The longevity is good, a few hours, and it is a unique, complex enough addition to my collection. For having synthetic and foody vibes intermingled, my nose tolerates this rather well.

Like you’re sat smelling the insides of an Xbox 360 controller, and someone in the next room is wearing Fado Jasmim. Hilariously my girlfriend started putting deodorant on saying she felt dirty and smelly, and it wasn’t until I put my arm up to her nose she realised it was ME that she was smelling. So she felt dirty by proxy because I was wearing this.

This is astounding how realistically it has mimicked the smell of burning or overheating electronics! First it opens with banana then the smell of an old vintage TV that’s overheating and about to short circuit and die? One of the most unique frags I’ve ever encountered. This “electronics” note comes off as warm and fuzzy and it’s actually quite nice.
