Serenade

It’s a rare type of smell. Something Amouage would produce... firstly you need to get past the herbal opening

At first I hated it. That lime opener is like an assault to the senses. Then after a bit, maybe 30 min - 1 hr, it is dry somewhat burned wood chips and VETIVER whoa. When I say whoa, I wasn't ready for it and still not sure if I liked it. In fact, I still didn't like it, until I tried another sample which is Aesop Hwyl and the strong heady vetiver reminded me of this even though that one has absolutely no citrus. Then I realized that Serenade is just poorly named and marketed. Serenade sounds much more gently and like someone who romances you and this one is not that way at all. It should bring to mind lumberjacks in plaid or something. It needs a different name, bottle design, and bottle color altogether. Still not sure how I feel about the vetiver alone. I believe I still like others more and at lower price points, but some better imaging might really help this one get into the right hands for a better test. At the very least, after the citrus dies down a bit, the other notes will last quite awhile.

"Moscow Serenade" *** Yes, I can imagine a russian student singing to his girl in a cold night of Moscow. Woody and warm, this scent is comforting. Just a little problem: the singer has a rough voice and sometimes he sings out of tune. He receives a flower, though, thrown from the window.
