Oriental Saffron

It’s a very intriguing oriental fragrance. The opening is powerful, almost sparkling with spices and saffron. At first, I felt as if I were standing in the middle of a Moroccan bazaar, surrounded by stalls filled with aromatic spices, colourful fabrics, and a warm, exotic scent drifting through the air. After a while, the spicy intensity begins to soften, and a woody resinous base with a delicate hint of oud comes to the forefront. The composition gains depth and elegance at this stage. In the base, I clearly detect earthy patchouli, gently warmed by a drop of golden honey, which adds softness and a subtle sweetness to the fragrance. This is definitely a composition for lovers of oriental, bold fragrances with character. On my skin, it lasts for around eight hours, and the projection is noticeable, although it gradually becomes softer and more enveloping over time.

I am a huge saffron lover, but this one was a let-down for me. There was no note I enjoyed during the wearing experience. I could not get past the Play-dough and spice accord vibe. Glad I only purchased a small sample, which will not get completely used up. Does last quite a bit, but is a definite scrubber for my taste. Edit: I gave it a better wear on a cold drizzling day, and the fragrance changed for the better. The Playdough vibe was not as prominent. Added to cart by days end.

🐪 Caravan 🏜️ Dawn over the desert. I climb onto a camel and immediately smell the spice crate bursting at the seams. Saffron, cumin, cardamom, clove, anise, ginger. All at once, without asking permission. A sack has come undone, coriander lies in the dust like coins after a robbery. Too much, too loud, too hot. I want to jump off and walk. An hour later the dust settles, the spices stop screaming and start whispering. From deep inside the crate comes the oily scent of oud and tamboti wood, like deck planks soaked by years of travel. Ylang-ylang slips between them like a silk scarf left behind at the last stop. Labdanum sticks to the skin along with the dust and sweat. Evening. The caravan halts. Someone pulls out a jar of honey, vanilla wrapped in cloth. Patchouli smells like earth packed down by a thousand hooves. I sit, drink tea, say nothing. The scent that overwhelmed me this morning now wraps around me like a Bukhara blanket. It starts with the chaos of a bazaar and ends with the silence of a desert night with vanilla on the lips. @the.scent.files

Dense amber, and upfront saffron. Heavy, punchy, overwhelming. No airy/light ingredients to balance it out.

It was a blind buy, thought I might like it for winter but it turned out to be not great.
