Fondentarancio

This perfume is magical you have to give it some time tho so a spray in a store won’t be enough you need to try it properly and wait for the magic to appear. It’s a perfect combination between orange and chocolate a bit animalic but not gourmand at the same time

This is my fifth fragrance from Bois 1920, a house I truly admire, especially for its more exclusive line with higher concentrations and distinctive bottles. Fondentarancio fully confirms why this brand holds such a strong place in my collection. The bottle is excellent: elegant, well-crafted, minimalist, and noticeably heavy in the hand, which immediately conveys a sense of quality. The cap is particularly impressive—very heavy, metallic, and beautifully made. It closes by friction rather than a click, but it sits firmly and securely in place. The atomizer is average, nothing exceptional, but it performs perfectly well and does its job without issues. As for the fragrance itself, Fondentarancio is genuinely intriguing. It opens as a rich, very sweet citrus with a strong chocolatey nuance. The combination is striking and, without any doubt, it strongly reminds me of chocolate-covered orange candies (chichingeri in italian). The effect is indulgent, warm, and immediately comforting. Performance is solid: good longevity and good projection, especially in the first hours. As time passes, the citrus facet gradually softens and fades, leaving behind a smooth, sweet, cocooning scent that feels cozy and addictive rather than heavy. It becomes more intimate, but remains present and very enjoyable. Overall, Fondentarancio is a beautifully executed gourmand-leaning citrus, elegant rather than playful, and deeply satisfying. Another excellent creation from Bois 1920, and a fragrance I genuinely enjoy wearing

It's been quite some time since I last got to smell such a disaster of a perfume. What where they thinking? From the perfumer, to the project manager, I really would like to know what kind of herbs those folks were smoking during the creation of this abysmal scent. Usually, when you mix citrus notes with gourmand notes, the result will be comforting, often smelling like delightful pastries. XerJoff's Casamorati Lira and Profumum Roma's Dulcis in Fundo are great examples of this. Now, the mixture of orange and chocolate is a bit more tricky, I admit. Even in pastries, when orange meets chocolate, the balance has to be just right, or else it will taste terrible. So, yes, getting this particular combination right is not easy. Now we got Fondentarancio. Bois 1920 is known for sometimes rather challenging fragrances, they are never boring. So what will a venerable niche perfume maker like them make of this combination, orange and chocolate? Well, I am shocked, disappointed, disgusted and confused at the same time. Right after spraying some Fondentarancio on the back of my hand, I took a whiff, and instantly recoiled. What in the name of whoever you might worship is THAT? Now, let's not judge the scent rashly, let's give it some time. So I waited. I waited for 2 minutes, and took another whiff. No. This can't be. This HAS to be joke! What my nose is picking up here, are two notes creating a devastating dissonance. On one hand, we have a rather nice, sparkly and herbal-fresh orange note, not unlike the one you find in scents like Aqua Allegoria Mandarine Basilic. On the other hand, there is a rather dull and flat chocolate note, not particularly pleasant, but also not unpleasant. Each on their own could make a nice fragrance. A citrus cologne, and a chocolate gourmand (albeit just a mediocre one). What happens here, though, is both of these notes clashing in a nasty way. Instead of fusing and creating a harmonious accord, the two seem to be fighting each other, creating the mentioned dissonance. What does this inharmonic fragrance smell like? Well, it's strange: You do smell the orange and the chocolate seperately, as if they exist on two different planes within the fragrance, but at the same time, when these two overlap, the smell that they create can only be described as horridly chemical, like urine and moldy, rotten fruit. Honestly, I am not overexaggerating here. Fondentarancio does smell like rotten citrus covered in fuzzy mold, like bathroom cleaners and even like diapers full of urinate. I am sorry, Bois 1920! And whoever the perfumer behind this... creation... might be, I am sorry to you as well for chosing such harsh words. But to me, Fondentarancio is not a "perfume", as a perfume should always smell good, and no, Fondentarancio does NOT smell good.

Orange oil galore. Some greasy and funky chocolate notes in the opening. The drydown is mostly a sweet citric scent with very little floral notes and vanilla. It has some similarities with symphonium but they are very different. Symphonium stays gourmand and delectable, Fondentearancio opens like orange chocolate but evolves to a more airy and somewhat clean/fresh scent. I think this is very good but not as nice as my beloved Symphonium.
