Vento nel Vento

I was given a sample of this from MiN when I recently ordered a fragrance, and I saw that patchouli is one of the ingredients in Vento nel Vento and thought uh-oh...usually if patchouli is in a scent that I wear, it takes over everything and I smell like a head shop from the 1970s. I am relieved to say that it threatened to come out and engulf, at the beginning, but then changed its mind and did not. Patchouli gracefully accepted its role as a support player, in the cast of character ingredients that make up this delightful fragrance. I smelled a little oud, some spice, some sweetness and the patchouli was faint, but enough to give Vento the spine it needed to stay with me for the day. I was very impressed. It becomes sweeter throughout the day, almost like an incense that you would burn on a special occasion; when first applied it is more green woods/spice on my skin. At one point, about four hours after I put it on, I was at school and found out that in order to be admitted to the chemistry classes that I need to complete my Biology minor, I will have to take precalculus. I felt my temperature go up in a flush, and the most wonderful puff of Vento nel Vento wafted up from inside my clothes and into my face, and calmed me down (I have math anxiety)! Bonus! Perhaps this lovely perfume is good for math anxiety, or any anxiety, eh? This fragrance has a very nice staying power on the skin, and it is present, but not loud. I think I could wear this almost every day, if I wanted; I wouldn't heavily spray it on, though. The only thing holding me back from buying this right now is the price ($236). In fact, I wish I had found out about this fragrance first, instead of the Desert Marocain/Tauer that I purchased and with it, received Vento as a sample. I am unfamiliar with Bois 1920 so I guess their line slipped past me without my noticing. I'll put Vento nel Vento on my holiday wish list.

First impression: I tested it without knowing what it was, and found it smelled fiery and smoky and sexy...then some time passed and I sniffed it again and it had transformed into...a semi-sweet gourmand I couldn’t stop sniffing?! I thought for sure it must just be me, but no: the member who sent it to me gets pretty much the same impression. How about that? So what a great magic trick this potion pulls off! After he told me what it was and I looked it up here, it’s easier to pick out one or two more notes (licorice) and it becomes possible to smell all the notes at once, but the most important thing is this: The drydown smells so good it’s just addictive! I’d love to have a bottle or a decant before next Winter (it feels best suited to cool or cold weather). As for who should wear it, the opening seems strongly Masculine, the drydown Unisex possibly leaning Feminine (which is very unusual in my experience). So...Unisex leaning Masculine? Or Masculine but then Feminine? Beats me, but I think I could wear it and I don’t wear frags I find Feminine. You’ll have to try and decide for yourself! Any way you put it, I feel like this is a must-sample work of olfactory art from Bois 1920. Bravo!

Deep, rich, full of gorgeous surprises. Exploring some of the Bois 1920 line at a local store years ago, I had the impression they were focused on citrus freshies, aromatics, florals, and other old-fashioned masculine/feminine scents (though many seem to be listed here as unisex). Hearing about Vento nel Vento from reviews, I was intrigued to try an oudy, resinous scent from the brand. After living with a decant for a while, I knew I had to get a full bottle. As the reviewer below mentions, this goes on with a certain Italian lightness, belying the darker notes within. The pink pepper zings, there are aquatic and floral touches, and gourmand notes from the licorice and the chocolatey labdanum/patchouli. In the mid, the oud comes forward, and where you would expect the usual rose note, instead the peony steps in to provide a counterpoint. It's a really great twist on the more common accord. And the drydown! A delicious, chocolatey patchouli. I've been exploring some chocolatey patchoulis lately, and this one is a beauty. Granted, it's a long wait for this stage, but luckily I love the earlier stages as well, so it's just another brilliant twist in the journey.

Sanırım bunun sebebi meyan kökü... Oldukça erkeksi bir parfüm. +40 yaş üstü boğazlı kazak giyen bir adam parfümüdür. 10/6.7

Vento nel Vento begins with a sweet amber and resinous incense smell draped in oud and ambergris that gives off a slightly animalic, slightly metallic scent. After a couple of hours the metallic scent goes away as it becomes more earthy and musky yet retains its wonderfully ambery resinous smell. I love the incense as it rises off my skin. This is a smooth and warm perfume that I can even wear in 80 degree weather like today. UPDATE: I made a huge mistake before trying to wear this in hot weather. Recently, I wore this while I was in Ireland traveling around the island through the coolness of the countryside, seeing lots of grass, trees, and sheep. This was the perfect fragrance for the 40 and 50 degree weather. There was no metallic smell, only an earthy, animalic, amber scent that grounded me and made me feel one with my surroundings. What a difference, I went from liking this to loving this and am now looking for a FB.

Bois 1920 Vento nel Vento is a very good,resinous,sweet/salty oud/ambergris fragrance. First hits are of a spicy elemi note. Mid notes are a sweet, musky incense like olibanum which lasts quite a while and then the oud and ambergris dry down starts creeping in along with a woody benzoin and labdanum combination. I dont know if the ambergris is natural or not but it definitely has a thick salty, musky tang which smells great. Projection on me is moderate, I can smell it wafting off me but does not seem to fill a room or anything like that. Longevity is around 5-6 hour mark with 2-3 sprays which is fine. I like this one quite a bit so far. Good quality ingredients and blended quite nicely. If you are looking for a sweet incense oud n ambergris in a fragrance, this is one of the better ones I have smelled. very nice.

Starts off with a rich sandalwood then patchouli, good quality, then a fleeting boozey note as the amber and resins come in and the scent warms. I love the frankincense which is a favourite note of mine. This is a warm, ambery-woody incense, beautifully made and projecting strongly. Walking on the beach in a strong northerly wind, there was still a cloud of this around me! You don't need to apply much at all. Long lasting, dries down to a velvety smooth benzoin scent with those wood and amber notes. No edges to it, excellent quality. Five stars from me, on the list of full-bottle-worthy must-haves!

Beautiful floral amber spiced up by licorice and a combination of ingredients resulting in a cinnamon accord, ending in a slightly chalky, warm incense. Some of the listed notes are hard to perceive separately as this is so well blended. Vento nel Vento and Relativemente Rosso were very successful blind buys for me. Both take an amber base and play around with bold notes in a creative way that will most likely and unfortunately put off people who like their fragrances clear-cut. Edit 12/21: This is a very good amber perfume with rose, herbs and licorice. It’s not too sweet and bit dusty.

Vento nel Vento features my favorite resin most prominently: elemi. This coniferous, balsamy note is presented beautifully, accompanied by labdanum, benzoin, and skank-free oud. The rest of the notes play less distinct roles, but help give the composition a balanced semi-transparency with unexpected sweet nuances and tobacco-like qualities. Though it leans masculine to some noses, it doesn’t immediately read as MEN’S COLOGNE; I see it as decidedly unisex. I really love wearing this one, especially once it gets its footing (the first 45 seconds or so are a little off-balance).

I love it , I got it , it's extremely strong long lasting , I don't find it unisex , it's more for women , very very warm and sweet to me even if it's not in it's description , it's worth it's money , not like dia amouage -.- , this is a great scent and you don't find it in a normal perfumery in Germany like Douglas , it's special , gotta have it and you will , for a long time for it doesn't need many sprays , 2 and you're good to go for a long time !

To echo previous reviews: a deep, rich, resinous fragrance. Begins quite sweet with pink pepper, frankincense then shows and it settles into a warm envelope, deep and thick. Possibly slightly more feminine if I had to swing it either way but otherwise ideal for both sexes. Smells expensive, which it is, but definitely worthy of it!

Only thing to say about Vento Nel Vento is.....WoW. This is quite possibly the best fragrance that i have ever smelled. Just buy it. Dont test it. Buy it. If they only made 1,920 bottles than this will soon become a unicorn legend frgance. Wow....just....Wow...

Warm and spicy amber of high quality. Another great creation from Bois that does ressemble some other scents out there but done with high quality and a twist. The scent is quite deep. Glorious opening that dries down and lasts forever

Settles down very balsamic, as the day goes on and the body's humours emerge, it turns into a filthy animalic.

It's like a packed tobacco pipe with incense and licorice in the background. I love it!

"What a dilemma" This fragrance to me is very cozy, sensual and cuddly yet in a mature way. It's another one of the good gourmands out there. To me this scents reminds me of a spicy incense graham cracker type of character just to give you a slight impression of what you may expect. It's deep and has many dimension / levels. Whenever I spray it It stills my thoughts and I just feel like crawling in bed and keep sniffing my arms. And I tell you it never gets boring, for I keep sniffing my arms as if I sniff long enough there might be a surprise waiting for me haha. I know it's weird but that's how interesting it is, I keep sniffing it and every time I'm like "wait a minute what is this scent". The longevity on this is very good, on my skin easily 8 hours. Projection, I actually still need to review that. To me this is the perfect scent to wear whenever you are cuddling with someone. I really love this scent. However I still do not know If I really like it for myself to personally wear outside the house or just something I'd love to smell on someone else. And that's where my dilemma wanders. Just as an FYI, to my nose Vento Nel Vento smells quite similar to Calling Al Angels from April Aromatics. They are not copy of each other but the uncanny resemblance is there.

VERY similar to Bois d'Encens but sweeter. More wearable. I find Bois d'Encens a scent to wear whilst mediating and Vento a scent to wear for simple enjoyment. LOTS of resins of the creamy, warm variety. Blended beautifully with musks, animalic notes, woods and soft, never over-done peppers/spices. Patchouli... barely noticeable. This is a beautiful, calm and serene incense/resin fragrance. I collect incense fumes because they remind me of my childhood spent in eastern europe going to church- being surrounded by incredible architecture, stained glass windows, cold stone and intricately carved figures as incense fills the air to almost a suffocating degree. Even though I am non-religious, these memories fill me with warmth, comfort and love. Vento nel Vento is a hidden gem that many people don't know about and it's one that is worth the price. It's also part of a limited collection and can be found reasonably priced on eBay. I would recommend it to anyone that loves resins or incense. If you're like me and hate sandalwood, you'd be surprised to find that you cannot detect the sandalwood in this scent. If you hate patchouli, you won't detect it either. This is magic in a bottle. While this was not love at first sniff for me , there is something in this bottle that is simply magical. It is like a cloud of frankincense and churchy resins that simply make the person inhaling it feel more spiritual , more detached of worldly issues . My first impression of it was that it's leaning towards masculine but really it is not.... Once it develops the top notes , along with the minuscule dose of oud dissipate ... And then you are left with a heavenly Christian orthodox monastery scent....one of those nested high up in the mountains of Europe where the air is so fresh it is hard to breath and coniferous woods' aroma is strongly mixing with the holly resins and Insense being burnt during special liturgical masses . It is a soul cleansing experience . Lasting power and silage are very good . Not feminine, nor sexy or elegant. Just beautiful. I am in love with this one, thanks prada48 for such an amazing swap !

I'll start where Vanessa was ending. I went to MiN NY to purchase Marocain. Ended up getting Lubin EDP, BUT before that happened, I was lead to Vento Nel Vento as the alternative to Marocain. I took the card home as I forgot to get THAT sample. Well I have a sample NOW, and I'm about to buy a 10ml decant, since 2 sprays is ALL you need. I just cant stop sniffin it. I just sampled before I'm about to step in the shower and I hope I can't wash it off....since I'm gonna spray for bed. The cost IS a concern right NOW, but the rarity of it makes it worth the price. #1042 in my "Tour de Fragrance" Got this as a decant and it's a really nice oriental. I think most people will appreciate it. I would too, but black licorice has always given me nausea and I can't get past it here either even though in a half hour it's undetectable. Too bad. Everything else works for me. Solid longevity, strong sillage, very nice incense and wood, but I can't wear it because of the licorice. Lots of people obviously don't share that issue. Not appropriate business wear, but probably fine for date nights. Great quality, as I have found typical of Bois 1920.

This one has real memory association for me. The first spray is harsh, with the oud and ambergris and strong licorice, and I must admit I don't like the first 10 minutes. But the drydown is oh so nice, soft sweet comfy balsamic, and it somehow really reminds me of the dusty wooden summer house my grandparents owned where we summered all the time. Not the top balsamic in my book, but the memory association is definitely making me consider the full bottle...

Spicy peppery woody but sweet and lightly floral. Drydown super woody which I LOVE. Beautiful scent no bad notes very natural. Lasts well 4-6 hours. Update 2018/07/15 Slightly harsh opening, probably the oud, ambergris or elemi or a combo of all three. Gorgeous drydown though. Complex balsamics, not too sweet. Not sure about this being the holy grail though, I'm missing the strong patchouli note.

A few reviewers I follow and respect (who have thousands of in depth reviews) laud this house for its contemporary French styling and use of unique natural ingredients. Unfortunately, I have to dissent because I find a lot of these to be cloying. In Vento nel Vento, I get a lot of similarities with their Realtivamente Rosso, which I did not care for either. This is too overloaded with saccharine burnt sugar. Like you dumped a pound of cane sugar and immortelle into a pot and let it simmer for a century. One spray is sweet, spiky, and dense enough to kill a small family pet. I actually do want to go back and keep sniffing (it is addicting in a morbid way) but I absolutely can NOT handle a cloud of this around me all day. 6.7/10

Cloyingly-sweet woody gourmand. Smells like toffee mixed with a dusty woody note. I was hoping for a warm ambery oud scent but this is far from it. It smells more along the lines of Armani Stronger with You and Azzaro The Most Wanted but the dusty woody note makes it smell more unique and "niche". Because I am not a big fan of masculine gourmands, this was underwhelming for me. Cold weather, mature, leans masculine with its woodiness. "OK"

This was a blind buy for me since the Italian brand's original web site demands 25€ shipping cost within italy and europe for each purchase below 120€,hence I gave up ordering 6 samples (x5€ = 30€) by the original site, but ordered the entire bottle from Notino with a discount price 90€, instead of the original price 175€ on the brand's own website. Despite having bought it discount , I want to kill myself for that stupid action of mine, because I feel terribly deceived by the ingredient list.From the first moment on, all I could get is suffocating amounts of cinnamon (as the color of the bottle alerts for it, which isn't in the ingredient list of neither Fragrantica nor the brand) which I d-e-t-e-s-t to death and some synthetic chopped wood accords, which has nothing to do even with synthetic oud, not a lightyear close to real oud for no doubt, and half an hour after this cinnamon & synthetic wood chips massacre, the most repulsive kind of church insence (not real Olibanum like in Jusbox' Blackpowder, or Parfum de Marly's Layton Exclusif) takes over the scene and if you shouldn't be dead by this olfactive nerve torture yet, the massive doses of licorice makes the golden shot to assure the death of your nose for good, so that you couldn't withness for that crime. After 4 hours still not a single sign of Labdanum, Ambergris, Benzoin or Patchouli, which I practically had decided to buy this parfum in first place. I have been conned sooo good. Never ever blind buy again.

عطر بالزامیکی قدرتمند از ترکیبات ضمغ کندر و روغن لامی که شروع دارویی مانند جوهری و اسپایسی داره قویه با یه چهره با جذبه و صامت که داد نمیزنه رایحه اولیه تا انتهای کار حضور داره فقط از شدتش کمتر میشه و یکم حالت چوبی میگیره ماندگاریش خیلی خوب ولی تو فصل گرما حتی تستشم نکنید چون کاملا دارید هدرش میدید بوش حتی اذیت کننده هم هست عطر کاملا زمستونی که فقط تو هوای سرد خودشو نشون میده میتونه تا حدی رسمی باشه ولی بیشتر از رسمیت به نظرم جدیت داره بدون لبخند واسه اون روزایی که حوصله هیچکسو ندارید و دلتون تنهایی میخواد عطر خوبیه قبل از خرید حتمن چندبار تست بشه

Christmas in a bottle!! Upfront you get a sharp Real Patchouly, Relativamente Rosso kind of a feel from what I think is cinnamon, nutmeg, or even ginger-the spices (Frankincense) lovely and the Pink Pepper. The Real Patchouly/Relativamente Rosso vibe leaves and after some time the Patchouli, Sandalwood, Oud, and Ambergris comes through quite vividly with great projection. As the fragrance dries down, you are presented with the additive of Benzoin and Labdanum which gives off this smoky woodsy menthol vibe that's surprisingly nice. Although semi-sweet, Vento nel Vento is less sweet than Real Patchouly and/or Relativamente Rosso; there are nuances that allude to the above-mentioned fragrances. Overall, a nice fragrance; if you combine 1920 Extreme's menthol-ish-ness with Real Patchouly's sugary-ish-ness and a dab of Vetiver Ambrato's-powdery-ish-ness you will get this powdery very slightly sweet, smoky woodsy menthol, peppery cinnamony spiced fragrance......=Vento nel Vento. In the end, nothing to get extremely excited about but a great fragrance nonetheless!!!!...reminds me a little of the dry down found in Portrait of a Lady!

OK, so this one has been high on my test list for awhile. It sounded like the kind of sweet resinous thing I go for. Plus, Calling All Angels and Memoir woman are two of my most enduring perfume loves so it seemed like as safe a buy as it's possible to get. And . . . It's ok. On me, I get more of the plasticky sense I often get with synthetic oud (real oud usually reads as burning tires and wet dog to me) and then there's some fruitiness and smoke and the resins I was expecting. I also get some of the saltiness that is how my nose usually translates whatever chemical they use for ambergris. I think it's a nice fragrance but the oud is far more dominant than works for me and I am baffled as to how people think this has anything to do with Calling All Angels which is mainly a labdanum fragrance or Memoir which is an alchemical incense fragrance I can't even begin to describe except to say that aside from having incense and a certain fruitiness, it's nothing like this. It's probably a case of the thing we don't like sticking out and dominating the composition and oud and I are not friends.

How do you even describe amber? A note so abstract, with so many incarnations. I guess only leather is more ambiguous. Well, licorice seems easier to describe. Here, it's gorgeous. Dark and suave at the same time; sweet, black. Oud and labdanum support its resinous facets, making it resin itself. Some herbal/vegetal nuances, mostly by peony - a noble expression of green; a flower indeed, but not flowery. Relativamente Rosso plays the same tune in reverse at the herbal side of the spectrum. I prefer this one, but I admit that these hints of vegetation are key players in making this otherwise heavy ambery/incensy scent playful instead of dead serious. Like a thin layer of fragrant Mediterranean shrubs (and a bit of salty sea breeze) over the Oriental thickness of the base, it helps the composition breathe. Nonchalant, the Italian way.

7 hours ago: My first impression of Vento nel Vento (Wind in the Wind) was very touching. This fragrance pinpoints where I have soft spots for scents! Labdanum, licorice, balmy notes, incense and rare woods for sure. The mild spicy-balsamic opening reminded me of a sort of compound herbal tea and evoked pleasant memories of my childhood winters. Whole combination is like those memories; deep and comforting. Cozy as Dychotomous mentioned. I think of VnV as if it's a person I just met but seems very sedate and trusty that I feel familiar with and bet would be a close friend to me. Can't help sniffing my arm right now. I need to spend more time with this for a proper review.

I have to say I am jealous of literally everyone else who wrote a review or voted notes on this. My expectations were high based on that, but the peony overpowers everything else on my skin and never goes away. The sweetness combined with the floral, makes this too feminine for me. Must just be my skin, Glad everyone else is enjoying, though.

This fragrance opens up with a a floral spicy tone of peony, elemi and pink pepper. then the incense and liquorice spark up with a hint of musk leaving the dry down with soft woody impression of sandalwood, patchouli and oud wood with touch of amber, benzoin and labdanum.

10/10 from Bois 1920!!! This is a stunning fragrance! Strong wafts of Liquorice followed by cigar tobacco! This is such a unique fragrance and I have found nothing else like it! This is definitely a fragrance which gets positive feedback!

Yeah this is a tobacco fragrance; the dry cigar rolls! Great job at it too! If this had more liquorice, this would be like mugler cuir impertinent!
