302 Groovy Amber

Sampling Bon Parfumeur 302 Groovy Amber, a release from earlier this year, a fresh spicy amber blend, with notes of pink pepper, incense, sandalwood, iris, and vanilla, a great mix of sharp, woody, and just a pinch sweet, a great scent that works in most situations, seasons, reasonably smooth, not quite as a sharp as, say, Armani Prive Bois d’Encens but still quite different from most gourmand-leaning ambers as the central concept is spicy and wood. Quite excellent while not being unique or breaking new ground, but a scent like this is welcome in any catalogue when executed this well. It’s EDP concentration, and the US, is sold via the house website and great boutiques like Perfumology with retail pricing of $190/165/70/40 for 100/50/30/15ml, so a little pricier than some of the other rather affordable entries in the house, but still reasonably priced as a nice option in the current market, and 302 Groovy Amber in particular is versatile enough to be a better value than something more obscure that would only be worn occasionally. Overall, I’m quite impressed by it and would definitely consider picking up a bottle at some point. 8 out of 10
