402 vanilla, toffee, sandalwood

402 opens with a delicious vanilla essence (like the one used in baking), fresh apple and almond blossom and slowly progresses towards caramel notes. It settles there for a while and then a lovely woody sandalwood balm remains on your skin. Overall it's sweet but it's also subtle, as with most Bon Parfumeur fragrances. Again, this is not Mugler or Gaultier, so don't expect huge projection that will annoy people around you. On the other hand, the subtlety means that they will be drawn to you and possibly want to nibble your neck in the process! Bon Parfumeur fragrances aren't designed to make too much of a statement, they are more great quality for day-to-day wear that will complement you. They aren't trying to be groundbreaking or too unique, just natural smelling, fresh and unpretentious. This works well for both men and women. Hey, men can also smell delicious with 402!

A mainstay in my autumn/winter rotation, this is a delicious, indulgent vanilla. Nothing complicated, but I have been told I smell ‘edible’ when wearing it. I’m a little surprised to see reviews classifying 402 as soft or light. On my skin, the caramel is thick and sweet, just teetering short of being overpowering sometimes. (I have to be mindful of wearing too much 402 in enclosed public spaces!) But the musk and heliotrope provide a balancing aspect, the latter lending a subtle almondy touch. Thankfully, I don’t get any harshness or plastic from the benzoin in the base. Perhaps 402’s a polarizing scent that plays differently on each person’s skin, but I’ll be looking forward to cold weather so I can wear it again.

This is such a gorgeous scent! First spritz is a blast of Vanilla with a hint of spice though and it melts into this creamy sticky sweet scent. I saw a reviews below from Angel123 and January Zero about the sunscreen scent and they are SO right. This is my childhood in a bottle, the sea, the sun, the sunscreen and vanilla ice cream and feeling sticky all over. I live in a Hot and Humid place, but this performed exceptionally well for me. Lasted 6+ hours on my skin and clothes, although projection is more intimate. I don't think this smells like "any old body spray"

This is one of my favourites from the sampler bag! It's a very pretty vanilla, and I also smell benzoin or maybe almond. I don't find it cheap, heavy or overly gourmandy at all. Sure, there are many vanilla scents on the market, but so many veer into too sweet or artificial. This one strikes the right note for me - sweet but not too sweet, and fairly light so I don't get overwhelmed or tired of wearing it.

I really enjoy this one. It’s sweet, warm vanilla with an almost amber note (it’s not listed so maybe it’s the caramel mixed with benzoin). It lasted on me for several hours 4-6 hours & I could still smell it. I gives me a familiar smell that I just can’t put my finger on what is but it’s nostalgic to me. Personally I love this scent! Sweet gourmand - if you like pink sugar type scents - try this one!

Sampling Bon Parfumeur 402 Vanilla Caramel Sandalwood, a delicately sharp, sweet, and woody blend, with the second note listed as toffee or caramel, depending on the language, and it seems to blend well with the woody sharpness of the sandalwood, regardless, a bridge to the sweeter vanilla. In total, the blend is not too sweet, instead almost floral and a bit feminine, gourmand-adjacent while not being totally gourmand. Definitely nicely put together while not being a huge standout, but after trying a couple of pleasant, green freshies, it’s interesting to see an example from the brand of something a bit more gourmand-like, a little heavier while not being excessively heavy. I quite like it. It’s EDP concentration with retail pricing of $100/53/34 for 100/30/15ml via boutiques like Ministry of Scent, so quite reasonable in the current market, and the brand generally seems to be available in the grey market, also. 7 out of 10

This is the perfect candy vanilla to me. I don't like apple notes in perfume as it is usually a note that is very screetchy and unnatural but it's gorgeous here! I see the comparison to Black Sugar, I love that one too, but 402 is more centered around caramel, it's more feminine and smells like the lip balms and scented toys of my 80s childhood. 402 is childhood in a bottle for me. It is not refined or classy, but I love it for what it is. Unlike many scents in this category it isn't cloying, bland or screetchy. Love it!

Very dreamy fragrance. It has some musky almondy dry powderiness in it. Obviously the caramel and vanilla are prominent, like you have a perfect dessert in front of you, poured with icy sugar. The caramel is different than you can find in Prada candy. This toffee is lighter. The perfume has in some places almost green facets, like an unripe banana. It is rich, dry, sweet and noticeable. If you know Comptoir Sud Pacific: Amour de Cacao, or Molinard: Secret Sucre, you will know what I talk about. Very very pretty.

This is an almond vanilla skin scent that lasts a few hours at a time. Someone compared it to a vanilla body mist. No. This is well blended with no alcohol reverb that comes with body mists. It smells like one note; like a sweet extension of your own scent. It does not smell like you are wearing perfume. More like you've walked past something vanilla and a little is lingering on your skin. If you want to be incognito but love vanilla, this is for you.

Really sad to say it doesn't smell complex in any type of way on my skin. However... I still like it? It just smells like soft, vanilla sugar with caramel syrup undertones. Makes me think of a watered-down version of Lush's Let The Good Times Roll bodyspray. I'm not sure I would buy this but I now enjoy it more than 501, the other gourmand perfume from Bon Parfumeur. I really wish I could smell some of the other notes. I don't get the apple at all.

This is really nice! It’s this lovely, soft, almost milky, vanilla caramel scent on my skin, that i actually really quite like. I wouldn't call it a gourmand though, since it doesn't smell edible. It’s sweet in the same way a vanilla shampoo or bodyscrub is, not in the way a desert is. It has this very clean airyness to it that i think might stem from the almond and florals, though i don't hate it.

Be careful on the opening, it is straight vanilla and almond extract. Settles into a soft caramel, like the kind you put on brownies. Smells like you are baking delicious pastries, heavy and sweet. This lasts forever on me, and never loses its strength. It's a powerful, syrupy smell, so a little goes a long way. One spray on my wrist lasted until the following day. Mouthwateringly delicious.

Sweet and gourmand. Abysmal longevity. Literally nothing after an hour - a pity as the smell itself is lovely, not too strong and not too sweet - just right. However, not detectable after more than an hour (why?!). Light gourmand that can be pulled off even in hot summer. Got also another fragrance from Bon Parfumeur and sadly the longevity was also far from what I've expected.

Super cute sweet, clean, soapy coconut-y caramel fragrance, very childish and reminiscent of summer and almond blossom scented kids’ shampoo ! It smells like far away fun, innocent times...Although a little cough syrup-y, it’s very nostalgic and comforting to me, I really like it. It’s surprisingly very unique and unlike anything I’ve smelled before, and is very well made.

This is everything I wanted Kilian Love Don't Be Shy to be but isn't. Gourmand without being cloying. I can really smell the toffee and vanilla. The sandalwood is not noticeable but it's there. It's yummy and sexy but with a dreamy innocence. Too bad the longevity is not that good. I can barely smell it after 3 hours.

It's a warm, gourmand vanilla that would be an absolute LOVE if it wasn't for that sandalwood! When I smelled it in the store it was soo delicious, but the sandalwood gives this a spicy sharpness that I personally don't like. I will still wear this when the mood strikes, since it's a nice evening scent.

This smells deliciously similar to vanilla pudding. At the same time there's something clean about the scent too. It reminds me quite a bit of Acqua di Parma Blu Mediterraneo Mandorlo di Sicilia. Sillage is unfortunately somewhat modest. For me this is quite a unisex scent.

On me this is a salty light vanilla, it's definitely not a warm one. It had pretty good sillage on my arm, I could smell it on my arm while it was down by my side. I sprayed it on around 10pm and I could still smell it the next day when I woke up.
