Andy Warhol

This is one of (if not) the most beautiful scents that I have put my nose on, I live a few trains stops away from luxury department stores, with their boutique fragrance departments, and up until now I haven't come across anything that smells quite like this and Iv’e smelt them all, although my profile may fail to indicate what I have smelt I don’t have enough time to think through and document all that I have or all I have tested or sampled or smelt. Nowadays (in terms of brands) it’s about making money because you're a legacy brand (think of the many brands that used to make brilliant fragrances and now it’s the complete opposite). Or it’s a constant lack of innovation (occasionally there are a few good releases); additionally, with the growing restrictions on what companies and perfumers can use as ingredients in their scents, the quality has taken a fall. Being very lucky to have acquired a bottle of B-No.9 AW from a friend, and knowing that Bond No.9 Andy Warhol is a bottle of scent from "yesteryear" I (or "yester-decade" rather), I recognised fragrances are just not the same as they once were. Bond No.9 - Andy Warhol is a testament to this - an absolutely beautiful scent - made back in the day. At the forefront, you get this enveloping plume of the juiciest plum, backed by cypress and standing right behind (figuratively) this mellow perfectly dialled Oud (this smells like the real stuff after trying scents by the artisanal brands, but then again Oud is something that is so scarce and even 10 years ago when this was created is was scarce, meaning it could be an accord, even if it is; it's so, so good). Plum Japonais, WHO! Plum Japonais is brilliant but can’t fill the boots of B-No.9’sAndy Warhol. Plum Japponais is a good scent that came after Bond No.9's Andy Warhol. But AW is, in a way, the originator of that type of scent or, at the very least, what popularised/started the Plum & Oud combo. With Plum Japonais you get a realistic Oud not over the top, but a rich and ever so slightly spicy accord the Oud and the spice is blended well but with Plum Japonais you get this dryness that doesn't satiate you. Plum Japonais is brilliant but it teases you into thinking that you will get the perfect sweetness, (not the cloying kind but the same sought of sweetness from other Tom Ford’s or high-end Middle Eastern scents that do the dense-sweet thing perfectly without choking or cloying). Plum Japonais makes you think you will get the King of Amberesque-oud scents, but you don't quite get there, Plum Japonais is way better than more recent releases these days, but it's the equivalent of listening to your favourite song and waiting for the chorus and then the song stops right there "BRUP" and your left sitting there looking silly, always wanting a bit more, try to convince yourself that “This is Tom Ford” and “ I t smell good” and you try to lie to yourself and talk yourself inot being satisfied but the truth us you are not. With Plum Japonais after a promising burst of juicy plum, hints of spices, as mentioned before and a base of Oud, you get to the middle and it kind of falls a little flat (again still a brilliant scent) but you’re hit with dryness and the sweetness you so yearn for is not there. Your thirst (metaphorically) is not satisfied, and you’re senses aren’t satiated. Well with Bond No.9 - Andy Warhol in the word of the reviewer that came before me, it's everything that Plum Japonais should’ve been. But not to be to harsh on Plum Japonais since that dryness is good in the middle of sub-zero temperatures in the middle of winter. It’s Like comparing Crocodiles to Tyranosaurases Rex (you'll probably think this is strange or a strecth, but the analogy still stands) one is a killer the other is an apex predator, one is the noble originator and ancestor, and the other is arguably a still great, yet lesser version. In this case TF Plum Japonais is the Crocidle in comparison to Bond No.9 Andy Warhol which is a T-Rex. (Yes I know that Crocodiles were kind of around in a slightly earlier form and they are, kind of, like living dinosaurs anyway - you know exactly what I’m trying to say). B-No.9 Andy Warhol lasts longer, it lasts 8 hrs plus easily, although it is much closer to the skin after a while. But when applied properly and when the juice hits my suit (I only have worn this on special occasions, sometimes now and then I’ll spritz it onto the wrist) it lasts and lasts (it may be faint hours and hours later but nothing lasts forever, that being said it can still be smelt by those close to you when on clothing). This can easily be compared to a few of the Roja Dove scents, not in terms of the scent or scent DNA - but quality. The Plum accord is to die for, it's precious you get this thing that is photorealistic a juicy dark purple plum, what comes to mind is the; freshness of the outer skin, the slight furriness of the hairs, the slightly purple but mainly yellow flesh. The Cypress and other citruses act as support notes helping to push the Plum which is the mainplayer. The citrus boost the acidic parts of the Plum whilst the cypress affirms that the plum is the fruit from something mainly consisting of wood aka a tree. The Cypress harkens back to (quite literally, no pun intended) AW’s roots and adds a clean woody touch. The oud anchors it down and acts as the glue throughout keeping everything in line and shinning, whether it is an accord or not, it has such tenacity and gives the fragrance some good density but doesn't make it too heavy, the labdanum smooths everything out adding this luxury thing to it. All in all it's almost as if every note had been polished smooth because all you get is smoothness. As the scent develops you get to the mid, you have the beginning of the mid when the top notes first die down - you get less of the citrus and acidic notes and everything begins to fall into place, then the exact middle of the scent where the smoothest notes the labdanum, patchouli hints of rose and other florals and the Oud, really rear their head through. You then get to the part of this scent that has the longest duration - the end of the mid - where the Plum and Oud constantly bounce off one another in a dance. Right in the far dry down is where things get incredibly smooth, smoother than before a beautiful dry-drown ever so slightly fainter, (and the word beautiful is not really one that is in my verbal Rolodex but for lack of a better word beautiful is the only appropriate word to describe this scent). As far as clones, Alexandria Frgarnaces is excellent, absolutely incredible. But after having my bottle and asking others for their opinion on their bottles in the community, they all share the same thing - being you get the true scent of Bond No.9 Andy Warhol, which Alexandria are very close to replicating, but in the end, it can’t be replicated, on top of that; strengthening and macertaion of the scent also comes into play - and Oud, Labdanum, and rose - kept well, ages fantastically. It’s not many times that I come across (or that I imagine) any of you come across - a scent that makes you go “wow!, that literally makes me wonder how anyone could make something that smells like that, but this is one of those. I’m glad to own this, try this, use this, and treasure it. P.S One thing that has to be remembered is - it’s not the general public that is hyping this up as they do with Sauvage, it’s us - the fragrance community, people that know a thing or two - so what you would call “hype” for this scent, in particular, is justified and warranted. If you find one for yourselves keep it. It’s not a gold nugget, or a gem, it’s a whole blinking diamond of a scent.

I'd heard much about Bond No. 9 Andy Warhol, as I've been keener on plum-dominant fragrances this year, and have just purchased a bottle of Tom Ford Plum Japonais, and Andy Warhol similarly does not disappoint. AW is overall slightly sweeter than PJ, as a reference point, with the plum being very much front-and-center in the topnotes along with a fresh cypress and bergamot pairing. I definitely get a hefty dose of rose in the heart, which is welcome, and blends unexpectedly well with the plum. It almost creates a new type of sweet rose aspect that I've not experienced previously, despite the omnipresence of rose as of late. The oud in the dry down is quite subtle, and there's no sense of a rose/oud combination (an especially pervasive pairing that I quite like). The base notes are not particularly detectable to my nose; vanilla may be there, but the plum still creates most of the sweetness to my nose. Musk and sandalwood could contribute to a soft, woody dry down but I don't get much of either, frankly. Perhaps except for the bottle (purple with Warhol's head), it's difficult to distinguish from some of flankers so one needs to be careful in seeking this one out. Performance seems solid, comparable to other Bonds and perhaps even some of the Tom Ford Private Blend line that are not the strongest of the line, and I'm by no coincidence thinking of Plum Japonais. Use-wise, I could see this having year-round wearability though I'd certainly gravitate toward using it in the colder weather, and men and women alike could use it for both formal and informal occasions. Overall a great composition and one I now want to track down. 9 out of 10

This Bond No. 9 has been on my gotta try list for a long time. I really enjoy TF Plum Japonais, which has recently been replaced by Vintage CD Poison as my favorite Plummy fragrance. This gorgeous scent is a bit like both of them, although not "smokey" or "incensey". Andy Warhol maintains a semi-sweet Plum throughout wearing. I found that the TF lost a lot of Plum after about an hour, sadly. Plum Japonais also is much more Oud-filled to my nose. The Vintage Poison wins again! This could be a second choice if Vintage Poison becomes unavailable. but, I just don't think I could bear looking at the bottle (all due respect to Mr. Warhol) I'd have to decant into another vessel.

I have had a large sample vial of this for months now. I actually stumbled upon Bond over a year ago looking at "Best fragrances for men 2011." This made the top 10 list. I probably sniffed it mid summer... maybe in August? Apparently that didn't sit well. Fast forward to January... I was more intrigued. Now I just plain want a bottle! I can attest that this smells only faintly of incense, but more of smoke. I adore the honeyed, plum, deep, dark fruit base that this fragrance rests on. There's some vanilla and woods... but different types, you can tell there's oud, but it also smells of trees... Lovely cold/cooler weather scent. Really has me craving that smell.

I am down to my last drops of this treasure, and while I have an incredibly accurate dupe of it (from Dua--Iconic) I am sad to see my original go. I might get one more day out of it. I hate the opaque bottles, it makes it so hard to see what's left. This one is so rich, the plum is dark and juicy...the oud is smooth...the labdanum and patchouli are spicy and the vanilla is so creamy. It's just perfect. I would've also worn this one more often if it wasn't so hard to find/expensive to replace. If you really want an idea of how fabulous this one is, grab Iconic from Dua, it's nearly identical. A++++

This is my all time favorite. My number 1!!! If im feeling down and just wanna feel like a million bucks... If i want to impress a woman, or ANYONE for that matter, (one spray) on the back side of my neck is all thats needed. Not sure how Bond no 9 bottled excellence, but they canned it with this sweet/vanilla rose/woodsy scent. My brother bought a vintage bottle (for a boatload of money 🤑) and sent me some. This is excellent. The plum here is rich, juicy and dusted judiciously with sugar. The plum by itself could be a stand alone fragrance. Well blended but I can pick out a rose with stem, oud, patchouli, and labdanum. The base mixture of olibanum sandalwood, and vanilla is fantastic. One of the best from the house and I would buy a fb in a heartbeat if it wasn't so expensive. Scent is a 10/10 Performance 8/10

Always wanted to get my nose on it but due to poor availability it was hard until recently, and oh boy it is very nice. Last a good amount of time but is not a sillage monster, very nice plum note and yes I can see similarities with Plum Japonais by Tom Ford, but this one is sweeter and more casual to me when Plum Japonais is darker spicier and smokier Plum, both very nice and bottle worthy in my book. I give Andy Warhol 10 out of 10, one of the best Bond fragrances.

I’ve had two bottles of this for years and they are almost gone. Nothing else smells like this! It’s so damn good! I got the dua iconic and it’s not really close imo. I would do almost anything to convince bond to repackage and rerelease this. What I won’t do is pay $1300 dollars for a 50ml on eBay. Which is the only option now. This would be my sig scent forever if it were available. Bond no 9, you’re idiots for not resurrecting this in some form.

it's a long time I want this .and eventually i bought a 100 ml complete from a collector friend. yes plum and vanilla are obvious and hint of oud and smokiness of frankincense are undertone of the composition .woody quality of cypress is undeniable in the background though . it was one of a kind at the time neverthess its still unique and had its own way of expression of gloriouseness. love to have it in my wardrobe.

I really love this fragrance, to me the 5 big notes are Plum, Oud, Sandalwood, Vanilla and Frankincense, lasts a really long time but for me it ́s not a projection monster, but sometimes it ́s a good thing because it ́s made the fragrance more versatile, so as being said it is my signature fragrance, I bought several tester bottles of this fragrance to make sure I don ́t run out soon of this beautiful juice 10/10

Some of the best juice ever. This is a super unique fruity mature delicious fragrance. Hard to describe but this is something I reach for very frequently. Impeccable longevity. If I didn't want to run out of this ($$$) it would be a daily driver. So great. High up on the favorites list.

This is the best plum fragrance... Period!! Similar to Plum Japonaise but not as spicy, this one is darker, sweet and just that much better in my opinion. I wish I had a back up bottle but my bottle of Dua Iconic will have to serve as a replacement once this is gone.

Love the reviews, having tried this...., there is NOTHING MORE I could say than what most of you guys haven't already covered: Incense, dark, a bit smoky, Oud, Plum, sweet, but not overly sweet, mysterious, purple, mellow, boozy, beast longevity..., BRAVO

Great scent. Nothing new to add except that this resembles Tom Ford Plum Japonais (which came out after Andy Warhol) and smells nothing like 24 Gold by Scentstory. Thumbs up and glad to own a bottle!

after these years past and many fragrances that has came out still Warhol is the one of the best iconic plum scent . nothing still can bit it.

This probably requires a bit more adjustment, so I can only give some initial impressions. The plum in the top is nice, not overly sweet, but a pleasant note for the fragrance. I wish it had more of a chance to unfold and develop, which sadly it didn't before the entire mixture evolved into only the distinguishable notes of sandalwood and vanilla. I'm told it's a Madagascar Vanilla, but it's so subdued that it also is underdeveloped and doesn't emerge from the base. And perhaps it's an unfair comparison since I've had the chance to wear Spiritueuse Double Vanille recently, and the Bond pales by comparison. This isn't bad, but I don't see this as the best effort Bond has put forth. The plum and other elements could have either been explored more fully or removed to make the core elements more pronounced. This is a melange that didn't have much chance to open up beyond a very vanillin/sawdust base. People might examine for the sheer novelty, but this could do with more of a reformulation to bring it from its present state of mediocrity.

This bottle is beyond expensive and hard to find so I am reviewing a clone... this is for the Scentual Obsessions' version and I really like it! Heavy plum in the front, but not at all overly sweet, which I was expecting it to be. I get a lot of labdanum from this making it quite powdery. The floral notes arrive in the mid, not heavy, but play a great supporting role. This fruity, but also classy, really nice blend here! This lasts easily 8+ hours. I would recommend picking up a clone of this one, it seems to be really great!

Plum, incense, oud, labdanum. All of these come together to create a sort of less intense, but not-as-satisfying Jubilation XXV. Still, the drydown is seriously one of the few oud-heavy drydowns I'd recommend, and the stuff lasts all day long. I'd honestly rather get Jubilation XXV, but definitely check this one out.

5/10 I want to personally meet everyone that says this smell is good and convinced me to buy it and personally smash the bottle on your head. Most overrated thing ever. Did I get a fake sample or what cause this smells NOTHING like real plum and just like synthetic fruit and rose and then a little bit of bubblegum spice??? Smells like something an old lady would be wearing at an outlet mall. Just a bad, bad smell man my god how do y'all like this.

Based on the reviews before me, I'm trying to get myself into this one after trying this out today but... after letting it settle ( the way @Mapache says ) but, it's just not working for me. I think it's the plum/wood mixture that is letting me down and making this really on the mature level ( 50+ ) It's not bad in anyway, it's just not doing it for me personally. Andy Warhol is my favorite New York artist so when I discovered the Bond No 9 fragrance bearing his name I thought it could only be as good as his art work. I was right! First of all let me compliment whomever designed the bottle with Andy W's image. What a nice touch. He would have done that himself in a bottle of cologne and turned it into art. The fragrance itself is a fruity Oriental woodsy cologne, totally unisex, wearable in spring and summer but because of the darker dry notes in the base consisting of myrrh, agar wood and musk, it becomes a much deeper warmer balsamic Arabic type of thing perfectly suited to winter nights. This fragrance makes me feel very intellectual and like I'm back in college, studying all night, drinking coffee to stay awake and to keep calm smoking marijuana. This fragrance matches with tweed jackets for men and pea coats for women, turtlenecks, berets, it's as academic collegiate a New York based fragrance as can get. I have nothing but love for this scent. Andy Warhol opens with a deep rich plum like they made a plum juice inside a bottle of alcohol. There is a boozy almost aldehydic initial opening but which quickly fades revealing a sweet and decidedly fruity top. I smell citrus mandarin and bergamot orange and the big plum at the top. After a while it begins to smell like a type of fruit alcohol based beverage sweet with a slight vinegar-y type of smell. The heart is green and floral composed of patchouli, rose, jasmine and labdanum or 'rock rose' which gives this scent a feminine appeal but the flowers are by no means the highlight or the main attraction. The florals are there to provide a touch of sweetness and has a really nice rose-patchouli blend that I like in fragrances that are patchouli-based or floral-patchouli. It's herbal and green in the heart. Finally dry, this thing smells of incense. It's a detectable but not overpowering smoky myrrh very evocative of Middle Eastern perfumery. This takes you on a trip outside Andy W's New York and perhaps to a psychedelic Oriental artsy place that exists only in his imagination. The labdanum is pronounced and mingles with the incense and the big oud. All come down to oud. The woodsy finish is quite nice and very much my type of perfume. I go for unisex fragrances with complexity and creativity as opposed to simple boring feminine stuff. This has something for both men and women but it's clearly suited to more experienced perfumistas. Andy W is good for wearing in the fall and winter during the evening, good for wearing to symphonies, art galleries, museums, and the theater/opera. It's formal but not stiff, it's quite alive and fresh green clean and smoky as one of the most beautiful American based Oriental perfumes I've ever come across.

When I first smelled this, thanks to a great SA at the Bond No. 9 counter, my first reaction was "they finally did it right!" I was comparing it to Silver Factory. When I first smelled SF, I fell in love with its light, woody, incensy smokiness, but later discovered there was an undercurrent of something that smelled urinous, or at least that's how my mind interpreted it. The love was gone... Andy Warhol is an addition to the study in incense, probably still a work in progress. Striking is the warmth tempered by the incense itself, although I would've exercised a little more restraint in order to fully make obvious the oud note, which just sits inbetween the incense and the plummy sweetness. The amount of oud is perfect--it's not superinjected like many offerings, therefore it doesn't smell sweaty or out of balance. In humid weather, like where I live most of the time, the scent billows and envelops, but in air conditioned settings, the scent is well tempered, light smoky and sweet. AW is pricey as with all BNo.9 oud tinged offerings, and as with such high end niche perfumery, I gotta love it to buy it--I only liked it.

Purple seems like the perfect color for the image of Andy Warhol on the bottle of Bond no 9 ANDY WARHOL, because it contains a very inky, plummy, incense perfume. Oddly enough, there is also a very marked peach note, which hovers over the top of the composition and can be teased out by my nose (if I concentrate..) from the more intense purple amalgam which dominates the scent. The inkiness reminds me a bit of the opening of Lalique ENCRE NOIRE, but the dark plum and peach really make this unique. There is a strong, deep, cooked fruitiness to this composition, without its being very sweet. With such *great* longevity and pretty big sillage, this latest entry in the Bond line up seems to me like a straight-up perfume, not a cologne. I don't think that it is more feminine than masculine, but it definitely has a depth and heft which are more characteristic of women's fragrances than men's. Apply sparingly for full enjoyment. (-;

First impression; I love the presentation but not so much for the scent. I get a weird plumy sweetness throughout, strong patchouli, dry and spicy oud (best part), some sandalwood with a mild spicy kick, and something powdery. It gets sharp silvery smokey later and I suspect it's the frankincense. The scent is heavy at first but will settle down and last a long time. I think this is a unique Bond. I like the smokey and woody quality in here, but this confirms that I am still not a big fan of the plum. In fact, I don't even like to eat plum. :( I would like it better if the sweetness comes from something more oriental like amber. I would to try again tho. Maybe my mind will change about this.

Made in Heaven featuring the Devil. Absolutely amazing. Andy Warhol By Bond is one of my favourite perfumes of this brand (with Coney Island and Madison Square Park). I don't love Bond scents, I find them very subtle and quiet, and I prefer chaotic and theatrical perfumes (Serge Lutens ones, Angel by Mugler, Black Orchid by Tom Ford). But this is something subtle and gentle, but in an extravagant way. Incense base, very deep and dark, with olibanum and oud, and a fruity heart of sweet, greedy plum. And this couple is so strange, but so good! The oud gives a particular aroma of liquor, plum and vanilla give a pretty twist to this dark blend. Stunning scent.

This stuff is very unique. I dont love it, but I dont hate it. At first spray I was surprised at how "mature" it smelled. As it dried down, I got a better feeling. The plum started to come out. It started to smell awesome. As it is completely dried down, I am getting plum, vanilla and resin which come together to resemble an incense-like frag, which can only mean the oud is coming through as well. In fact, the oud is there. At a quick glance (sniff) of the fragrance, it smells like pouring syrup over blueberry pancakes with a slight hint of smoke to take the sweetness away. Good stuff. I feel like my 5ml will last me for a good while!

I made an account just to say do not buy the clone from Scentual obsessions. Received my shipment today and it is very oily and I can barely smell it. I will update after a few weeks of masceration. EDIT: yes it’s still terrible. I’m pretty sure tap water has better longevity and projection. It’s so oily you can’t put in on because I’m afraid to oil stain my clothes. If you want a good plum fragrance with great longevity and projection buy Rasasi Hawas. Strong plum note and lasts and projects forever!

This one had me fooled at first. This is another scent that needs to develope on your skin and with your chemistry. At first...I got light herbal vibes and then the fragrance notes started to "bloom" on my skin. i do get the reference to TF Plum Japonaise..but not 100%. Mid-way, I get the plum/oud/saffron coming out. The oud is mild IMO. There is underlying sweetness too. It gets a tad resiny/balsamic but not overly so. I find a decent sillage/longevity...I really am liking this very much.

I’m gonna update this when I get my hands on a sample of the original but I’m here for the Scentual Obsessions clone which is criminally unlisted. The clone smells amazing. Not much life or projection tho so a few re-applications are needed per wearing. Don’t spray it onto your skin. It’s an oily concentration and it burns. This is best used on a leather or denim jacket. Awesome stuff, smells like plum and vanilla with an oud accord and fruity notes in the depths. So good.

I grew up Irish Catholic & this totally reminds me of the incense ball that the priests spread around during mass. You know, where it is dangling from the chain and they swing it back & forth over the parishioners. Does anyone else know what I am talking about?? I found the scent very soothing & comforting. I would not buy a FB but I enjoyed trying it out.

All this drama for this? These bottles really go for over $500?? You guys are insane, another terribly blended Bond9. Get Paragon, Fig Me Up, Jubilation XXV, Sangria Oak or even the Gaultier Le Male Elixir Absolu for different types of plums that will smell better than this. Heck, you can even buy a bottle of each instead of a bottle of Andy Warhol.

Never smelled the OG but Scentual obsessions makes a clone that smells amazing! It could be a total miss of a clone but it smells great nonetheless. Do yourself a solid and check the company out. Possibly the most clones to choose from than any other clone house on planet earth.

Scent - vanillin wood, sandalwood & patchouli. Season/Time of Day - I prefer to use this one in the colder months, day or night. Projection - I didn't get noticed, I didn't get a compliment. Longevity - I get 12hrs consistently.

This is another incredible bond scent. If you love frankinscence like I do- you will love this fragrance. I was looking for a scent with Frankinscence in it and I finally found one. Worth every cent.
