Beekman Place: Ridiculously Expensive, Annoyingly Good Let us get the obvious problem out of the way: Beekman Place costs a small fortune. Bond No. 9’s pricing has crossed the border between luxury and provocation, and no perfume built around fresh fruit, aromatic herbs and clean woods can rationally justify this kind of price. Unfortunately, Beekman Place is very good. The opening is immediately bright, juicy and polished. Pineapple is noticeable, but it is not the syrupy, smoky Aventus-style pineapple that has been copied to death. Here it feels greener and more transparent. Blackcurrant adds a slightly tart, leafy edge, while pear gives the composition a smooth, watery sweetness. Bergamot and lemon cut through the fruit with a sharp citrus flash. They keep the opening energetic and prevent the pineapple and pear from becoming sticky. It smells expensive, controlled and extremely well blended, even though the materials do not always feel entirely natural. Then comes the note that gives Beekman Place its real identity: basil. The basil is fresh, aromatic and faintly spicy. It introduces a cool green bitterness that separates the fragrance from the endless army of generic fruity fresh scents. Without it, Beekman Place could have been merely pleasant. With it, the fragrance becomes distinctive. The water accord appears alongside the basil, but it is not aggressively marine or shower-gel-like. It creates space and transparency rather than smelling like blue chemicals. Geranium reinforces the aromatic character, adding a crisp, slightly metallic greenness and a clean masculine structure. As the fragrance dries down, the fruit slowly loses its sweetness and the composition becomes drier, smoother and more elegant. Driftwood provides a pale, salty woodiness. It does not smell like heavy timber or smoke; it feels sun-bleached, clean and slightly mineral. Musk gives the base its polished texture, while sandalwood adds creaminess without turning the fragrance milky or sweet. Patchouli is present, but restrained. It adds depth and structure rather than earthiness. Tonka bean softens the edges, although Beekman Place never becomes a gourmand. Sea amber contributes warmth and a subtle salty glow. Finally, oakmoss leaves a dry green trace that connects the woody base to the basil and geranium in the heart. Performance is strong for this type of fresh composition. It projects clearly without becoming oppressive, and it lasts far longer than the average citrus-aromatic fragrance. The scent also maintains its character throughout the development instead of collapsing into anonymous musk after an hour. Beekman Place is modern, clean and easy to wear, but it is not completely generic. The basil, tart fruit, watery transparency and dry mossy woods give it enough personality to stand apart. It smells refined, confident and expensive without becoming loud or vulgar. Is it worth the official price? Objectively, no. The price is absurd. Is it good enough to make you consider paying it anyway? Unfortunately, yes. Beekman Place is overpriced, perhaps outrageously so, but it is also one of those irritating fragrances that makes its strongest argument directly on the skin. You can criticise the cost all day. The perfume itself remains difficult to dismiss.

Honestly a bit confused by the ratings... especially before it was out... I got to wear this at work so this is based off of one wear, but this is definitely a crowd pleaser... I don’t get the Aventus comparisons... the whole “it has pineapple it’s an Aventus blah blah blah” is getting old, pineapple is one of the best notes in fragrance. I will say thought that this, like many bonds, has a very designer feel... but also like many bonds, has extremely niche quality. It’s very similar in a lot of ways to Lafayette St, not in smell, but in that it is a fragrance that nobody is going to dislike. To me, I get Aqua di Gio vibes but with a green and fruity twist, and far higher quality. The nice part about the mix is that it is there with freshies coming out that have good longevity. I was getting a good 8 hours from it. It won’t project, this is not a beast mode scent... but it isn’t a skin scent either. It reminds me of Black Saffron by Byredo when it comes to projection. It will make a bubble around you that is absolutely noticeable if someone is talking to you, but it won’t have someone across the room sniffing like a hound dog trying to figure out who smells great. Price though... the price of all bonds is kind of disappointing. None of these fragrances should be this expensive. Quality wise I would say they belong more in the 300’s range (I don’t think I’ve come across a brand deserving of being at or around that 500 mark, except for maybe Clive Christian.... Which still is way above it) All in all it’s a great scent profile though. Just overpriced. I feel like If Bond were priced in the 300’s range people would be talking about it as a top tier house. But in its price range it sits there with PdM (one of my favorite houses but I have to put bias aside) and creed as just being way too expensive for what it is. The need to be “Luxury” in price to try and maintain status is not going to go over well as we enter the new era of Gen Z and alpha and FragranceTok driving them to be the biggest purchasers of Niche/Luxury.

I definitely get the watery pear when it's first sprayed. But soon it gains a woody note and an almost vegetal freshness. At this point it smells somewhat like Salado, but soon moves on to be more herbal than that. The fruity notes become more and more subtle as time passes, which is perfect for me and my tastes. I get the tangy greenness of the basil and geranium. Even after dry down it remains quite watery and fresh, but with enough bass notes that doesn't disappear completely. The resulting fragrance is definitely in the wheelhouse of what I wear I love to wear in summer with similar vibes to Costa Azzura Acqua or Coastal Cypress & Sea Fennel, but tested against those two this is significantly more aquatic and less woody and spicy. I feel like this is what I wanted from Basilico & Fellini, which disappointed me in both notes and lasting power. As time passes, the pear and wood notes warm and the overall fragrance becomes stronger. This is a love for me and a bottle buy that I hope to wear often in summer.

This is a great fragrance. In the vein of YSL Y edt and Invictus, but it has matured, and all the screechiness is gone. Better blend/ingredients and I like the aquatic touch in this fragrance more than the two mentioned. If I could find this for a little over $100 it would be an instant buy. Performance is bang on average, but it can be sprayed on clothes to last a few more hours. On my skin, I get 4 to 6 hours with the last 2 hours being a soft skin scent. Finally, I found a Bond I like. But the price, even on discounters, its still a little too high :( Edit: After wearing a few more times I noticed it lasted on my shirt all day (10-12 hours). I got a compliment 9 hours into the wear so I know there is a nose blind factor, granted this person was right next to me. Yes @jfourni3, its worth the $150/160 on discounters and I will be picking up a bottle soon.

Hawas gave me an instant headache. I loved Invictus Legend, but it was too strong, and the dry down was very linear and boring. PDM Fierce, I mean Percival, has been reformulated and isn't what it used to be. This smoothes out the DNA, gives it a little twist, and keeps a sweet spot on performance to moderate 6-7 hours on skin, all day on a shirt with a moderate projection and sillage. It really reminds me of AGD Absolu the most. With ADG Absolu gone and Jomashop charging $178 for a bottle, I think this is the best of the DNA. You can find this for $150 with shipping and tax. A price that is under current designer offerings. If you're looking into this fragrance, understand that it's a mass appealing DNA and not something complex, but it gets the job done well.

This really is just like other designer mall scent out there and especially more so the more aromatic aquatic green scent like Paradise Garden, Birds of Paradise, the smells like section, etc. but I’m either nose blind or almost allergic and get migraines or sneeze attacks from a lot of these somehow except for this. It’s quite nice, it has that “aquatic green” with a smooth woody base, the opening is juicy and fruity without becoming bubblegum cloying but is along the lines, loving this feels like a guilty pleasure I’m looking to picking up a bottle of this in the future!

My signature scent. It has that late 90's/2k vibe that a lot of popular frags had back then, like Acqua di Gio or Tommy, but without the tartness. But it's also complimented with modern day green freshness. This scent is is right in my wheelhouse. I have a collection of 70 frags and this is only 1 of a few where my wife always says I smell good. Retail price for all Bond frags is ridiculous. You can find this for $150 at discounters, which I feel is totally worth it.

Holy crap this is the best cologne ever I got similar vibes to greenly when I smelled it strong mossy woody with fresh citrus notes and then it drys down staying light and fresh. Everytime I smell it I keep going back for more. 10/10 smell great projection slightly weak on longevity. Overall a master piece especially if you get it from discounters

Wow, this smells really nice. A more green and aromatic “Sutton Place”. Very similar DNA. (Deeper, richer, more aromatic) This is a bonafide compliment getter, and has very good lasting power. (A bit better than Sutton Place) I’m going to get a full bottle, but only when it comes down in price from the discounters. The retail price is insane.

Don't know why this doesn't get more love. This stuff smells GOOOOOOOD! Easy reach for any day and any occasion. I honestly think is one of the more original scent profiles that Bond came out with, and there is no denying that this is enjoyable. Compliment getter. Easily a 9.4/10.

I have not smelled anything quite like this. Sure I’ve smelled a lot of aquatics, fresh spicy, and fruity fragrances, but this one has such a unique quality and is really so well blended. Very impressed, love At first sniff

It is really a very beautiful and eye-catching fragrance. Unfortunately, the performance is weak, and the price is very high. Under these conditions, I would definitely not spend my money on this perfume.

Sweet, fresh and crisp with a sharp dry down

Today I wanted to switch things up and talk about a fragrance that’s easy to wear and easy to like. We’ve been covering a lot of bold or complex fragrances lately, so this felt like a good moment to highlight something more versatile. Beekman Place from Bond No 9 opens with a fresh burst of citrus. It feels clean and almost nostalgic. You can clearly smell bergamot, pineapple and blackcurrant but you can tell there’s a little more happening in the opening. A hint of pepper comes through but it isn’t harsh or overly spicy. It adds a subtle fresh spiciness that lifts the citrus and keeps the opening engaging. As it dries down the fragrance keeps a slightly synthetic woody aromatic citrus character but remains light and refreshing. Around 30 to 45 minutes in it takes on a familiar warmth. I notice more greenness from the basil along with a soft woodiness. The black pepper is still present but everything feels smoother and more balanced. About four hours in the fragrance really comes together. Tonka bean emerges with a touch of amber and a very subtle hint of leather. This stage softens the slightly synthetic edge from earlier and makes the fragrance feel more cohesive. Because of this smoother dry down, it may lean a little toward spring wear instead of summer. It isn’t as bright or sharp as some other scents in this style but that makes it versatile enough for many occasions. This is truly an anytime, anywhere fragrance. It’s easy to wear and approachable without losing character. Beekman Place feels like Bond No 9’s take on a safe yet refined masculine scent. It’s familiar but has a slight twist that keeps it from feeling too ordinary for the price. If you already enjoy this type of fragrance it’s a safe choice for a blind buy. As many others have said, this is best picked up from a discounter, where it’s widely available for under two hundred dollars. If you want to explore the house of Bond No 9 and are looking for a woody aromatic fragrance that’s masculine, easy to wear, and a step above others in this category, I would recommend checking out Beekman Place.

Very nice easy wear, all season dumb reach. Personally I don't detect any of the Invictus or Hawas DNA in Beekman Place at all, I mean it's not even close to those since it totally lacks the bubblegum sweetness. This one is actually a niche take on both CH Men, Le Male On Board, and if you’re familiar with the brand, Intelligent Shop’s Carbon EDP. There’s a touch of the Y DNA in here as well. It does smell higher quality than all of those since Bond uses more natural smelling synthetics and better blending here, but outside of that this one could be very redundant in a sizeable collection. With that said however Beekman Place is a very easy to wear, fresh, pleasant and modern year-round daily driver type of fragrance that you just cannot go wrong with, but the designer-like scent profile used here is pretty common even though the listed notes might suggest otherwise (I was really hoping for something a bit different or even just a nice twist on something popular). It's definitely blind buy safe and mass appealing but possibly too safe and if you're reading this then you probably already have something in this category anyway. And just as a side note, Bond No. 9’s Island would absolutely be the unadvertised summertime flanker to Beekman Place which makes total sense since that one smells extremely similar to YSL’s Y Eau Fraiche, but again using higher quality ingredients, better blending and without any of the synthetic chemical screechiness. So if the idea of niche quality YSL Y DNA appeals to you then you might want to check these out!

First impression: I immediately got the pineapple and basil mixed with citruses, along with black currants and beechwood. Pineapple is not dominant, but it's there and you can pick it up. As it goes on, you can pick up a very faint hint of leather along with musk, sandalwood, driftwood and oakmoss. The overall smell is good but I expected more. It didn't remind me of Aventus and I thought that the base would be heavier with an amber note, but I didn't get much of any amber. It's more about the woods, oakmoss, musk, and a teeny tiny bit of patchouli. It feels somewhat discombobulated (same way I felt about Sutton Place) like they were trying to hit too many genres and seasons. Ultimately, I think this is more of a spring fragrance. Instead of these wonky hybrids, Bond should just bring back HTTPS Bond as it's far better than these, and better then Scent of Peace in my opinion. The sum of the parts is a fresh fragrance that leans more into driftwood and sandalwood, that reads as kind of generic to me. The okamoss and musk mix with these woods to make it a good enough to wear, but not warranting the high price. -------------------------------------------------------- Conclusion: Good, but not great. Scent 75/100 Performance 75/100 P. S. After 7 hours it's morphed into an astringent aquatic, with sharp lemon and driftwood on my skin. This lemon and saline reminding me of 19-69 Miami Blue.

This fragrance represents all the things fragcom told me I should hate. It’s basic. It’s synthetic. It’s mass appealing. And it’s expensive. And yet...I kind of love it. Even though it’s basic, it’s incredibly versatile. I’ve worn this casually hanging around my house and to a wedding. It worked great in both scenarios. Even though it’s synthetic, it smells great. Fresh, masculine, with a touch of sweetness. Even though it’s mass appealing, everyone who has smelled this on me has complimented it. And even though it’s expensive, you can find it at a discounter for a reasonable price. Sure the performance is average. But at least I can smell it on me the 4-6 hours it lasts and honestly that’s all I really need. I’ve wanted to review this fragrance for a while now. As a self proclaimed niche snob, and the community telling me I should dislike such a “simple, basic bro fragrance”, it took me a minute to wrap my head around it. At the end of the day, this just checks all the boxes. Not every fragrance needs to be a mind blowing oud attar transcendental experience. 4.5/5 stars from me and I’ll be getting lots of wear out of my bottle this spring/summer.

Overtly masculine. On first whiff, unfortunately, I was transported into a sushi restaurant, holding horseradish to my nose. The fragrance opens with a woody, citrusy, and aquatic combination. The top and middle notes hit first - pear and pineapple - then waters down to lime and geranium, and the bottom notes provide a whiff of maturity and elegance. Great scent for afternoon pool, office, and summer time mornings, but I can't imagine wearing this out for dinner or any other occasion where I'm meeting new people. It comes off as a generic shower soap that is nothing to write home about. The name insists upon itself. A fragrance hoping to exude luxury and originality but over time is generic and overlooked I recommend to buy as a sample and leave a full bottle to another from Bond No. 9.

This is a synthetic and mass appealing fragrance but in the best way possible. It smells great and will be liked by many noses. A fresh pear and pineapple sweetness with citrus warmed up with black pepper and some aquatic woody vibes. Mainly a nice fresh green scent with that woody peppery back end and a beautiful aquatic refreshing feel. I wish it lasted longer and is a bit overpriced for sure but a great scent all in all. It smells like a better blended and put together legend edp from montblanc but I don’t think it warrants the price tag especially when there’s something so similar for much less.

Very fresh opening that can be a bit overpowering, so be careful. Good longevity and projects well. Received a few compliments, so folks definitely notice it. Price point is kind of high, but it lasts and goes pretty well any time of year.

A fresh and spicy fragrance with a refined, designer-like character. It feels high quality and well-balanced, though a bit too safe for my taste. Best suited for spring and summer, with decent overall performance.

This is basically Hawas with a twist. This is not a damn Aventus clone, for those who think pineapple = Aventus.

Got a decant of it. Smells like a better blended Invictus to me. Solid stuff, nothing ground breaking. 8/10 IMO

When to Wear: Beekman Place stands as a definitive spring and summer fragrance that is most suitable for daytime wear. It is an exceptionally clean, appealing, and easy to wear fragrance, a versatile quality that makes it suitable for everyday casual wear just as much as formal wear. It also packs just enough underlying sweetness to be perfectly suitable for special occasions like daytime dates as well. It could even function well as a professional office fragrance, provided that you go a little light on the atomizer to account for its powerful initial projection. Blind Buy: As far as high end niche fragrances go, Beekman Place is actually a pretty safe blind buy for the average wearer. It is engineered entirely around that very mass appealing, designer type scent profile defined by a safe balance of sweetness and freshness. For anyone who genuinely enjoys fragrances crafted in the style of Acqua di Gio Absolu or Invictus Aqua, you will feel instantly comfortable and familiar with the way Beekman Place behaves on skin. Whether or not the financial investment is worth that olfactive experience is for you to decide. Final Verdict: On the surface, Beekman Place is an undeniably well crafted fragrance. I happen to own both Acqua di Gio Absolu and Invictus Aqua, so I can confidently confirm that they both give an incredibly similar olfactive experience, both in terms of the actual scent profile and the technical performance, for roughly 20% of the price of this bottle. When evaluated through the lens of artistic innovation and niche craftsmanship, a premium release should offer something distinctive that sets it apart from the commercial market. Because this blend chooses to mimic the mainstream designer landscape so closely, the premium cost of entry becomes completely unjustifiable, at least for me personally. It lacks the unique storytelling, complex depth, and creative bravery that I look for when investing in this price tier, so I will easily be passing on adding a full bottle of this one to my collection. I mean....look....it smells wonderful. It's a very nice fragrance. I'm wearing it now and am enjoying it. But there are a million other fragrances that smell exactly like it. There is nothing unique about it at all. I have 3 or 4 frags in the $100 range that are identical. So why would I pay what Bond wants me to pay for this? They have much better unique and interesting scents (Lafayette). This isn't it. EDIT: I wore Polo 67 EDT yesterday. I'm wearing Beekman Place today. They are almost identical. I just went and sprayed Polo 67 on my other wrist to compare. I'd say a 90% match. Polo 67 is more fresh and bright on the opening, but the dry down is almost a spot on match. Save your money and get Polo 67.

I love Bond No 9. so, I hate what I'm about to say. It's nice. That's about it. It is basic, to me it smells like a more complex and longer lasting Nautica Voyage. Just the association of that makes me not want to wear this even though I like it to be honest. If you want a great gym scent, this is nice.

I don't have a lot of clones as I think they are obviously cheap smelling but Hawas for men, for $20, blows this out of the water. Beekman Street is overpriced even at heavily discounted rates. Longevity is moderate, silage is intimate. Total disappointment.

Too expensive, reminds me of a refined crisp/spiced nautica voyage. Finished my decant and I'm uninspired, but I feel like for someone else with a different scent profile and taste, this would make a decent signature. 5.9/10

bruh don’t spend your money on this please it smells like a really cheap dupe. the quality is not there and the smell does not smell niche. very beginner friendly frag from the house of bond but it isn’t worth anything over $30... thank god i only bought a decant 1/10

This is an amazing scent. But before I get to that, I want to comment on the retail price for Bond No 9... it SUCKS! I am so glad I shopped on the gray market because I am not ever paying over $400 a pop for one of these bottles. I have 10 bottles in my collection from this house and I have never spent more than $220 for a brand new one. Please people, find yourself a reputable seller and buy these on the gray market. Anyway, onto the scent. Beekman is incredible for the spring/summer. I used to get the watery notes a lot. But now that I've resprayed it just now for fun, I'm getting a LOT of powdery notes in the opening. It's a soft yet masculine powder though. And after that dries down, I get a lot more woody notes. The sandalwood is light and comes through perfectly. I'm not always a fan of sandalwood, but this one is blended perfectly. Soft powdery woods with some aquatic notes that pop through occasionally. It's a beauty and one of my favorites from the house. Oh, my picky wife loves it also. That's a win win for me. Edit: I have to add- the above review is based off of skin. I should have said that none of this really stands when it's sprayed on clothing because on clothing it is completely different. I own Bond No 9 Island and that one has a very forward seaweed note. Beekman place smells almost exactly like that (Island) but a more tamed version. If Island is for summertime party boys, Beekman is for those same boys when they grow up. The DNA is very similar, but Beekman is a more mature take on Island. I mentioned this to a fragrance buddy and he said "That's so crazy because I thought the same exact thing." Either way, I love them both.

Beekman Place Please take this review with a grain of salt, as I am no expert. Initially you are met with spice and pear. Though black pepper is listed in the middle notes, it makes its presence known immediately. Though strong, it is not overbearing. The pear is slightly synthetic, but still juicy and lends to the aquatic notes which are also prominent in this fragrance. In roughly 1 minute Beekman starts to mellow and you get waffs of Black Currant and Lemon or Bergamot. The Mid is where Beekman shines. I still get the pear, pineapple and bergamot, you also get the lemon, basil and woody notes and they meld oh so well together. Being sandalwood, tonka, musk and amber are some of my favorite notes in perfumery, the dry down is also very good. I am also fond of oakmoss due to my brother Gio, and now I tend to look for it. Beekmen is a unisex fragrance, but it most certainly leans masculine in my honest opinion. It is definitely mass appealing and a safe blind buy if you like the notes. Go and grab a sample, come back and let me know what you think. In my writeups, I prefer not to talk about cost. Most fragrances are too expensive at retail, but between the gray market and second hand “buy and release” options, price is totally subjective. This smells pretty damn good. Nothing original or unique, but it’s good. I have to say people that aren’t in the fragrance community will love this and love to smell it on others. It’s a versatile fresh and sweet scent with a little woodiness. Smells like a combination of Rock Rose and Invictus. I personally prefer Rock Rose but this is a much better price value so I might have to make the switch to this one. Even though it smells like fragrances that are a quarter of the price retail, it’s still a nice fragrance. It’s already heavily discounted online for under $200. At that price I’d say it’s worth it if you don’t already have this scent profile in your collection. If this was the first scent with this dna of its kind it would get higher points. I still think it’s a 7.9/10.

After looking at the notes and seeing the fragrances this one apparently smells similar to, it was a must buy. Upon receiving it I can say I was very disappointed, this smells nothing like the fragrances it’s compared to..I even see a vote for Bond no.9 Tribeca? lmao not even close! This fragrance is along the lines of CH Man/Le male aviator, a green-leathery scent just with a tad bit more freshness. The pineapple, black currant, pear, and some of the spices are almost completely absent. I wouldn’t classify it as “generic” like some of these reviews are stating but it’s not nothing to run home about either. I’ll spend more time with the fragrance and come back to this!

good lord this scent is so addictive, yes it may not be the craziest mixture of goat piss from alaska and brazilian grown pine tree blah blah blah niche bullshit, it starts out with a fruit freshness then turns into a very woody ambery slightly vanilla masculine mixture of absolute greatness, purely off scent profile this has to be a 9, it does lack in performance you will get like a solid 6hrs then it kind of just falls off, but then you just want to keep smelling it so u spray more, its easily found for 160-170$ i wouldnt dare pay retail but at mall frag price this is a killer

I could never think of what this smells like until I just started going through fragrances and it has a 95% similar opening to Givenchy Gentleman EDT. This has way more projection, sillage, longevity, complexity etc but the pear felt extremely familiar. At full price this is not worth it to me but at discounter’s this is a great spring/summer fragrance. It’s fresh but has enough depth to last all day and sweet while also not feeling too cloying
