Dubai Amethyst

What a deliciously floral, spicy, tobacco fragrance! This is rose done excellently. Even though DA leans very masculine, I feel incredibly sexy and alluring when I have it on. DA is silent confidence.. you have your shit together, and you always walk upright and with purpose. I’m not a huge fan of rose, but as I said, this is rose done right. I layer this with Oud Satin Mood being at the base, and wow... you’re literally unstoppable atp. I would spray both light handedly, and reserve for nighttime/cooler months.

Definitely my favorite from Bond No 9. The opening is a bit off putting with the dirty/earthy tobacco smell, but it quickly fades away after about 10 minutes or so! Then you get this smooth/clean luxury lotion type smell. Although coconut isn’t listed, I get a beautiful coconut smell. Maybe it’s from the florals. I wore this the other day to an outing with friends and their spouses, the entire group was complimenting me on how good I smelled. This is an easy to wear fragrance that works in any occassion

I would put the tobacco at the top of the notes pyramid, it is dirty, ashy and muddy, but thankfully it fades out to quickly. It gets creamier, coconnuty at mids, and becomes a masculine fresh scent till the end. Very unique, seductive yet easy to wear. Long lasting, mild projector. Worth a retail price? Definitely nope. Worth discounter price? also nope. Worth a tester bottle, heavily discounted at 200-$, absolutely!

Very elegant tobacco center fragrance that feels unisex to me. It's not aggressive or heavy and although I tried it twice in the cold, I feel like I could wear it in warmer temps. Tobacco is dry, dusty, with an earthy patchouli backbone. After 5+ hours it's taken on more woody characteristic reminiscent to the Tam Dao EDP. Another great option from Bond. Scent 8/10 Performance TBD

Love this one. An awesome smokey amber/vanilla. Great for any time of day and season, truly unisex. Sadly, it doesn't project much or last long on me.

Slightly above average floral aromatic scent centered around a pungent central tobacco note. Initially surrounded by slight florals, it sweetens to a powdery base of tonka, patchouli and ambroxan with time. The unisex scent has moderate sillage and good longevity. Overall this is elegant and somewhat pleasant but also very overpriced for what is being offered. Enjoy!

Complete disaster. Smells of cold ashtray with some old indolic lily up top. The rose has been suffocated and I cannot identify it. Thought there was some Saffron in it? Dubai Collection: I am done!

Naugahyde. And tuck an roll, in a moldy car interior with a menthol cigarette smell in the headliner. An awful smell.

Its wayyy too floral. I can't enjoy it.

Dubai Amethyst, Eau de Parfum, by Bond No 9 Before doing anything for the testing, I applied some unscented lotion / moisturizer around my skin, especially neck areas to ensure that my skin was well moisturized, with no possibility of dryness. I have not been stressed over the past 48 hours, prior and during the test. I have not been eating raw onions or garlic over the past 48 hours, which could have “potentially” affected my skin scent, triggering undesired biases. I applied a total of five full sprays, two on each side of neck; one in the front of my neck. Further on factors that could have potentially affected performance of the scent, I even avoided going to the cafeteria at work, in order, not to have smoky / greasy odors landing on my skin. I usually take extra precaution whenever I'm testing a particular fragrance, so the results are, as credible and realistic, as possible. During warmer weathers, late Spring into Summer, I sometimes apply on my wrists, especially if I wear just a sweater or short sleeves. During the Winter, I don't bother with the wrists or inner elbows. Dubai Amethyst, Eau de Parfum, by Bond No 9 was released in 2016. Top notes: rose and lily Middle notes: tonka bean and jasmine Base notes: tobacco, ambroxan and patchouli leaf The Dubai Collection is geared toward the Middle East, and this fragrance is centered around tobacco, being the star-player of the fine ingredients that it's composed of. Right from the opening, the tobacco introduced itself, along with a faint rose that seems to dissipate within few minutes. The tonka bean then kicked in, overpowered the jasmine to provide some slight sweetness to the ashy/dry tobacco, along with the patchouli. This is not your ordinary sweet pipe tobacco that often renders solace to those who don't wish to delve too deeply into tobacco note in a fragrance, in order to jeopardize gender-bender option. Understandably, the more prominent or intrusive a tobacco note seems in a fragrance, the more it might be suitable for men, especially the ashy/dry kind. The ambroxan made its presence known in the trio for approximately 4-5 hours, then faded away. This being said, the fragrance is very well blended, as the tonka bean provides checks and balances in the smooth journey of this creation. This fragrance is for true tobacco-note lovers. It makes no apology for its dominant role. On sillage... It's subdued or average. The fragrance triggered nice trails of scent bubbles while I walked by, as I had a female friend queuing me, by indicating when / if she could smell me after walking by few times, and she acknowledged so each time. On projection... It projects moderately, at approximately 5 / 6 feet. On longevity... It lasted for approximately 8 / 9 hours, bopping my head side-to-side until I could no longer (smell it) get any whiff of it. A little after 8 hours, I still could smell it. Not long after, I assumed the scent totally evaporated. I'm carefully saying “assumed,” considering my friend who usually tests with me, wasn't available, so she could attempt to take a sniff from a skin-scent point of view. I'm satisfied with the overall performance of this fragrance. There's not much transition from top, mid, to base, as it seems somewhat linear, which isn't necessarily a bad thing. A linear fragrance has its “primary” advantage of reapplication without much noticing. On pricing... I bought my bottle, as a Tester for a decent price, considering it's a well-respected niche House. Is it worth its retail price of $550? NO. It's a nice tobacco-centered fragrance with great performance, but it's overpriced for what it is. I prefer other niche tobacco fragrances, with better performance, which cost much less. I'd owned few non-Dubai ones, which I've sold, due to pure boredom with them. This one is my second from the collection, as the Amber being my very first, a Tester, on a blind-buy, which I love, with superb performance. I've recently purchased, Emerald, a sealed retail bottle, an awesome deal, on a blind-buy, being shipped to me, and I look forward to wearing and reviewing it. Aesthetics / Presentation... As far as I'm concerned, these bottles are absolutely beautiful, and they're quite heavy, too. You just don't want to accidentally drop them. In Conclusion... This is a great fragrance, a Middle Eastern exclusive, that's centered around tobacco, and it's very well blended. Tobacco is front and center. Nonetheless, try to get your hands on it if you're a tobacco-fragrance lover, on a good deal. Tobacco is my all-time-favorite note in a fragrance, so you understand where I'm coming from.

Inviting. This is for the true player. Rich musk, lightly fresh-earthy, slightly pungent in occasional whiffs, but new fabric smelling similar to a brand new shirt or jersey. Followed in heart with a very mild floral sparkle. All the characteristics are pronounced in the heart as well. Exotic, urban, refined yet natural. Can be worn in mild all-around weather. Room temp works perfect for this. Cold just makes it more inviting. What I love is that it smells inviting. I never got the smoked cigarettes, but I can see maybe a bit of dry, freshly opened virginia tobacco, now that it is being mentioned. Some people get chocolate, I kind of get a dry milk cacao yes. It is blended so well. What you're smelling folks, with this one, is luxury. Amethyst is mass pleasing. Enough to be unisex? yes, but also muscular and lean enough in its own right. Don't look for storybook note breakdown with this one. Basically it is a simple, personal scent, and it can impress nicely.

I've sampled this one and I'm pretty impressed. At first, on skin it reminded me of some warm sand accord, and on paper I got a bit of a caramel type of scent. I wasn't sure what it was so I looked up the notes- it might have been the tonka bean and tobacco blend I was smelling. But after a minute the florals started opening up and this turned from okay to extremely nice. Those florals are a bit... muddy, or soily? And don't get me wrong- that's what I like about this one a lot. I think it's the patchouli that dirties the florals up just the slightest bit to make Dubai Amethyst extremely unique and interesting. It's still mass appealing I think, but it's not "bright" and fresh. It's more of a wintery clean floral for sure. I didn't mention the "clean" part until now which is a big part of this one as well. Impressive.

What an outstanding tobacco oriented scent! The tobacco used here is the same tobacco used in GAME BLACK SWEETS! I used to smoke with that brand! Anybody familiar with black sweets knows black sweets has a slight chocolate Nuance. That is where the chocolate is coming from. It is minimally sweet; earthy just like the cigarillo offering; perfect ratio. There is a miniscule amount of rose just enough for it to be considered clean, or fabric softer-ish, but it works and adds sensuality to the composition! This is not a beastly, or underperforming fragrance. It's right down the middle! This can be unisex but leans more masculine. So yes, the tobacco is the star player, with some earthy action and a bit of sweetness. I'm glad to have this in my collection!

Nice fragrance that's smells very good to me. Bond has the best Rose fragrances, hell the best fragrances. This is a well crafted fragrance that puts the pipe tobacco up front with the rose and smooths it out with a nice I guess it would be white flowers or lily that slowly draws the other ingredients in over time. Almost smells musky fresh, guess that's patchouli sliding in. I love this, NY oud and Indigo. I don't get the jasmin note though. This is amazingly clean like amped up amber white

DO NOT WEAR THIS IN THE HEAT!!! This smells so much better when it's cold, the colder the better. When I wore it I honestly couldn't stop sniffing myself. It smells like a combination of cigarettes in a box, baby powder, vanilla and amber... It doesn't smell bad but it smells kinda ashy, it doesn't smell like lit cigarettes but the tobacco is very dry and ashy, it smells so good though but it's not worth that asking price.

I find this so well-blended. Not overly sweet, not too much tonka ..... the rose is lovely and subtle, the lily clean but not super-soaped, not getting obvious vanilla note, thankfully. Wish it projected a bit more, but it’s just such a nice blend/combo!

This is a unisex fragrance. It’s so beautiful. Not too sweet, not too floral but has the right florals for me to wear as a guy. Slightly woody, creamy, and light floral. Will always be in my collection. Best Bond I have tried.
