Liberty Island

Liberty Island reminds me of a scent that I'd worn years ago. Can't put my finger on it... There's a smell that wafts up my nose and I can't pinpoint it! Is it the orange? But it's not sharp. I guess that's the marshmallow softening it. I...I just don't know what it is! Of the 21 Bond No. 9 samples that I have, this was my immediate fave (later joined by Gold Coast, Greenwich Village and Chinatown)! I'm wearing Liberty Island now and if I put my nose to where I applied it, I no longer smell it (mind you, I applied it about 10 hours ago). But as I move about, I'll get a beautiful whiff of it. Most of the time, when a scent leaves my skin, I no longer smell it at all. Liberty Island leaves my skin but pops up like a phantom every so often, lol.

This is for me the best beach scent from Bond Line... It smells like when you spurt mandarin juice to your clothes and stays there, except that it's not a real mandarin juice. In my skin this one is long-lasting, and the sillage is above moderate, I spray it in the morning around 7 am, and I can still smell it around 4 pm... hence I don't understand why this one gets so much hates... This one is really good, and actually what actually turned my head towards Bond No 9 line. I bought a sample of this, and not long I went out to get a full bottle.

Looks like I am the only one who loves this. :D It's bright, it's fresh, it's citrus with the marshmallow rendering it some glorious sweetness! Jasmine is not even the strongest note on me, I can detect the orange blossom more but the strongest is the bergamot with marshmallow and clean musk in the dry down. It's a fluffy kind of scent, light yet lingering. I did have to spray a number of times because it is on the lighter side but it's so pretty and uplifting. I did not even finish my sample vial before I bought a full bottle. I love it!

This is a "pretty" scent, as in it ain't unisex. Strong enough for a man, but made for a woman. It's even pH balanced. This is a fresh scent, it just needs a little time to smooth out from the sharp opening. It is a well blended fragrance that I would recommend to women for a variety of activities and seasons. I think that this is an attractive perfume for women. Longevity seems to be pretty good and the sillage is where you want it to be. I recommend this for women to wear as often as possible.

I like it! this perfume makes me happy.! for summer days this is very nice.. the initial vivacity like, sparkling mandarin with bergamot make the joyful perfume, I love the middle part where the jasmine blends with notes of orange blossom. Clean,fresh,young. Nice scent in its simplicity, I'll buy a bottle as soon I finish my sample :),I recommend you try. Sillage: 7./10 Longevity: 7.5/10 Scent: 8.5/10 Overall: 8.5/10

This opens with a very potent citrus note that dries down to a soft powdery, fresh, clean, crisp, citrus. It has great longevity and projection on me, I get about 7-8hrs. It is not an overpowering scent. It is office friendly. I layer this with Joe Malone Honeysuckle and Davana and I receive so many compliments each time I wear this combo. I feel it is unisex with a slight feminine lean.

I do love this perfume....the citrus of it is wonderful. I wish it performed and projected better (all the Bond No. 9's I have tried are terrible projectors/performers).

Very underrated fragrance don't know why the house of bond gets so much hate.

I was thrilled wondering how marshmallow would work with the other abovementioned notes. Whelp, I think when all the other notes came out to play Frisbee in the grass outside Lady Liberty, marshmallow stayed in the gift shop or food court somewhere. Its a greenish fresh breezy Spring day at Liberty Island. Feeding the pigeons and playing outside. Since its breezy, not one note stands out. Its well blended. Its nice. Not outstanding, just a nice clean freshy. It was more of a skin scent, very little sillage. But, should you bump into friends and kiss on the cheek they'll get whiffs of shower and /or laundry clean. Makes for a good office scent. It was a gift so I can't complain, but I personally, wouldn't buy a FB. Out of Bond No 9, I rather stick to my Greenwich and Jones Beach. It is a pretty bottle, but not worth blind buying, as it won't Wow you, I don't think. Samples are great ̄_(ツ)_/ ̄ hope this helps.

This fragrance had me so in the middle. It is a very sweet type but not overpowering per se', but also, like Judie before me stated, gives a nice shampoo type of smell ( an expensive shampoo ) Right away I thought this is too feminine, then as I went through the day, I got kind of used to it and enjoyed it for myself. Then towards the end of the day, it began to remind me of BR540, which I think is one of the best fragrances for a "woman"... And that is where I land, this is definitely better fit for a woman in my opinion and if you like BR540 and those types of fragrances, I think you will like this one. So a pass from me ( as a guy ) but a try for woman.

To my nose this had a weird 'fruit and pencil shavings' vibe on opening. I'm guessing the mandarin, orange blossom, musk combo, but it is not actual unpleasant.. just a bit different. A straight up unisex to me this rounds down to a light and airy mainly citrus.. the musk doesn't hold on me.. but I cannot see anyone not finding this pleasant and easy to wear. Big bottle buy? For me, no because it is really nice, but so are alot of this type of citrus.. it is hard to find a standout in this bracket, and if you've got one or two you probably don't also need this.

Last week I tested Liberty Island; the upcoming fragrance for the summer...it had a unisex spicy aquatic smell reminiscent of a blend of Montauk & Coney Island which was nice. Update: I have now tried it on my skin and is a surprisingly short lived experience; almost like a body mist for after the shower with no complexity or great effort. Disappointed in the end, try before you buy...thumbs down as the price is just a rip off! If you want a good summer beach fragrance go for the classic Aramis New West for him as it has the complexity & effort required.

Liberty Island reminds me of Hermes' le Jardin de Monsieur Li. It's very fresh and aquatic with jasmine. The marshmallow note adds a smoothing element so it's less sharp than LJdML. Longevity is fair and projection is weak. It's truly unisex- as a woman I feel confident wearing, but I would also like it on a man. Although it's a nice fragrance that I enjoy, I wouldn't purchase full price, especially since I already have lJdML.

I LOVE this fragrance. If my man wore this I would lick him up and down. I actually think it is truly unisex and can see women rocking it too. The projection is not as large as other bonds, but it is nice and citrusy, the marshmellow comes through but it's nice unlike any other marshmellow note. Mandarin orange, my favourite note is probably what makes me love this scent too.

Very lovely fragrance. Starts with heavy citrus, which i enjoy. The opening reminds me of the citrus in aventus without the pineapple. Then, it dries down to a light, sweet scent with notes of musk, and marshmallow. The citrus is mostly gone at this point, which is my only critique. Overall, i enjoy this fragrance and give it a solid 7/10 performance is the only issue.

It's a nice, youthful, citrusy, mild sweet, floral, spring daytime scent which leans heavily in feminine scents. This is not unisex imo. I get mandarine, bergamot and orange blossom all together wrapped with marshamallow. There is also mild musk with tiny traces of jasmine. Performance is moderate both sillage and longevity.

This is very citrusy. I feel like the citrus and marshmallow don’t really blend well. This fragrance isn’t bad, it’s just okay. I agree with the sprite comment below, but with marshmallows thrown in. The opening is harsh, but in the dry down it settles down. The longevity and projection on this is not great.

This starts out as "nothing special" as it gets. Very one-dimensional. Smells rather green and herbaceous. However, 30 minutes in, it softened. As the minutes keep passing, it gets lightly sweeter, still soft, and is now beginning to become "special. "

Nice citrus scent. Very fresh. I feel it would be good for anyone to wear. Kinda like CK One. Top notes are Mandarin Orange, Bergamot and Black Currant; middle notes are Orange Blossom and Jasmine; base notes are Marshamallow and Musk.

I own an official decant of this. I love it so I recently purchased a bottle from MaxAroma. I was taken back when the bottle smelled very different from my decant. I sprayed each on a different wrist. The decant is sweet, heavenly, and very reminiscent of the note breakdown. The bottle has no sweetness and smells exactly like celery (and I hate celery). I've contacted MaxAroma doubting that anything will be resolved. Has anyone else had this issue? I'm very bummed out. UPDATE: @LateBloomer was right. I left it sit for about a week and a half which gave it time to settle and it has since changed into the fragrance I know and love. Highly recommend! Thanks @LateBloomer

Bug spray vibes. Salty citrus rind, so stringent it prickles my tongue when I smell it. No marshmallow, or any sweetness, comes through on my skin. The drydown is brisk and clean, but never fully loses that chemical repellent quality. UPDATE: I wore Liberty Island outdoors and the bug spray notes were much less abrasive in that environment. The warmer my skin became, the more sweaty I got, the more I appreciated (almost enjoyed) the freshness that accompanies this scent. Still too OFF!-evoking for me.

This doesn't really cut it for me. It smells like a shampooey-fresh jasmine that lacks focus IMO. If you have D&G Light Blue... one of the flankers... or one of the Moschino Love/Funny... in your stash, you know the drill. Not a statement, nothing new...not worth B#9 prices for me. There are several in this genre that you can scoop up for $40 or so.

Smells similar to Light Blue without being in your face. Likeable. Unfortunately, sillage is nonexistent and longevity is about 2 hours. Tested from an authentic sample.

Gave this to my 35 year old brother. The orange is too sharp for me. This fragrance runs a bit too masculine for my personal taste. I dislike male or unisex scents and go for very sweet things generally. This isn't that sweet to my nose. I gave it to a man who wears Polo Blue and Aqua di Gio and he loves it. If he knew there was marshmallow in there he'd probably freak. I can actually smell the mallow, but it's so subtle. Well blended brew, just not for me. Gorgeous bottle and I love the real Liberty Island (fun fact, Sarah Jessica Parker lived there at one time and only way on and off island is tram).

It puzzles me how Bond 9 continues to churn out new and inferior releases, when competition is so fierce these days (niche or otherwise)?!? The last pink bottle, Shopping Scent (a rather debatable PR stunt) was surprisingly good, but this one is truly cheap smelling. You would expect this low level of synthetic florals and fake musks from COTY or Elisabeth Arden, but guess what, even they have upped their game. (Bottega Veneta's Palladium collection is surprisingly good and made by COTY). Really not worth anyone's time and would be better off as a detergent or liquid cleaning product. 1/10.

Smells like a freshly cut orange and bergamot off the top with the marshmallow adding a synthetic sweetness in the back round. After 10-20 minutes the fresh citrus mellows down and the synthetic sweetness starts to take over. It's a very sweet synthetic feminine scent. Not bad but you can probably find something extremely close for 25% of the cost.

Clean and fresh, but impossibly short lived. The longevity is about 20 minutes. The marshmallow is non-existent. Bond No. 9 is churning out mediocre scents.

I really love this one. This is my go to summer scent. I do not at all think this smells generic. I have never smelled anything like it. Those who are comparing this to Light Blue, I just don't get it. Smells nothing like Light Blue. This has a sharp metallic like opening, which does stay somewhat in the mid, but softens quite a bit. I love the florals in this. They blend soooo well with the citrus notes. I totally get what people are saying when they say this smells the way sprite tastes. I agree , but add florals to sprite and you would get Liberty Island. I also think this smells a little like a sexy penny in the opening. This metallic scent was definitely done to mimick how the statue of Liberty might smell with the water crashing up against it. If I didnt know Marshmellow was in here, I wouldnt know marshmellow was in here. Lol. It does have a sweet underlying base, but I wouldnt have guessed marshmellow. On the drydown this turns pillowy sweet with some orange still there. Its gorgeous. It is a unique summer scent done right.

Let me begin affirming how much I love many of the Bond #9 fragrances. "The Scent Of Peace For Him" is in my opinion one of the very finest men's fragrances on the market; and my wife absolutely adores "Bleeker Street". I also love "Chez Bond" and "Riverside Drive", two classics. Having said that, as much as I hate to say it, "Liberty Island" is crap. It smells like old lady stale perfume that's about 30 years past smelling decent. It could draw, and then kill, flies. Citrus, stale florals, candy sticky sweetness, and low-quality synthetic musk. That's it. Just awful. Some woods might have helped, but alas, there are none. I had realistically high expectations, but this Bond is a bust. Upside: If you want it, go to Ebay in a few weeks and folks will just about be giving it away!

Too much orange. Right from the start it's orange and then it becomes creamy marshmallows but always has the orange. The problem again is Quality; I just don't think Bond No9 are up to the task. Combinations and presentation may lean toward Niche and they do have some really neat ideas on paper but they really do need better sourcing and distilling of these, I really doubt they actually perform any bespoke lab-work and these just come out of an identikit designer processing plant that's only fit as far as your mainstream high-street shop. Again, sorry to sound harsh but I'd rather the truth than fein an act and pretend this is amazing My rating: 4/10

I smelled about 20 fragrances from the Bond #9 store between 2 visits. This one caught my attention, as well as Jones Beach as the 2 most interesting Bond #9 Fragrances. Yes, I smelled Bleeker Street and Scent of Peace first. Liberty Island smells designer-ish, but extremely tropical. After wearing it a couple of times without Fragrantica cheating, I was curious as to the notes. It's an interesting fragrance that I would say is worth 60 bucks or so. I would have never guessed marshmallows. Overall, it's a tropical-like average fragrance. It stood out to me at first sniff because of the extremely tropical vibe, but the love affair ended quickly.

I really like this scent. The citrus is nice, the jasmine is complimenting and the marshmallow was a different approach to sweetness with a very modest amount of musk. Does it give a shampoo vibe? Maybe however, I think this creates a playful female fragrance or a sexy fragrance for an attention grabbing male. Longevity was so so but on clothes it lasted for over a week. I get complements when I wear it. If you have to look for a cheaper option there is nothing wrong with that but I don’t like buying what is said to be an almost close Fl match where one note may not respond the same on everyone. If you love sweet citrus this is a good one.

Quite possibly the best summer fragrance i own! I probably own 10+ freshies and this has quickly risen to the top. The opening is so fresh and citrusy. Whoever said this smells like celery or any vegetable needs to get checked, cause their nose is severely fried lol. This is such a masterpiece, and i love the marshmellow dry-down which actually adds sweetness throughout the whole wearing experience. The scent is almost addictive. This is what PDM sedley dreams to be. It is truly like sprite mixed with florals and some underlying sweetness. A legendary summer frag and i'll always have a bottle of this in my collection.

Recently got a bottle of this and my first impression was this is a feminine perfume, but now I think it's more unisex. I guess I was comparing it to cooper Square from the aame house or to TdH, which are quite masculine. I can smell the citruses and blackcurrants which are quite strong, and neroli is very noticeable too. Jasmine is there but is less noticeable and I think this is why I initially thought it was a feminine perfume. There's a bit of white musk in the background but it's tamed. I can't smell any other notes (no marshmallows). It's fresh, it's strong, and it's nice overall.

@thebstevens93 Yes! The same thing happened to me with a Bond fragrance. I had a decant that I loved and ordered a full bottle and was surprised to find the perfume in it was very linear - not the gorgeous, mullti-faceted perfume that I had been wearing. I had to let it sit and settle down from the travel. I researched it and found that this sometimes happens with Bonds - the oil concentration is higher in them and therefore the composition is more fragile. Maybe try it again next week and see if it has changed for the better.

I actually love this one. From the beginning all the way to the dry down. I love how fresh & somewhat "airy' it is. It opens with the orange blossom to my nose and the marshmallow made me swoon. It's similar to Queens which I love but Queens has a "grape' note to me lol. Anyway, it is a light scent so I over sprayed & didn't mind doing so. I'm glad I purchased it. It's definitely not for the people who want strong monster perfumes but I love it & glad to have it.

The opening is very citrus and the mandarin steals the show. As the fragrance settles the jasmine and orange blossom mingle very nicely. I would have loved a sugary marshmallow note but it never showed up and the musk was ever so light of existent at all. Overall the scent is well done and because it’s chemistry it is unisex and both will get their share of head turns. I wear NoMad, Greenwich, Sag Harbor the most but Liberty is now my top choice.

Agree with Jeffwithfrags ... the Bonds that I have smelled, well, meh. Except for Chinatown, which is exceptional!! Saks 5th Ave for Her isn't bad but it's more or less a Fracas dupe. They don't seem to last a long time. They're okay at the outset, some of them, but really, is it worth spending that kind of money for something that lasts as long as body spray? The bottles are fabulous though. Again, Chinatown is magnificent.

This is just a straight up SPICY GREEN CITRUS For people wanting to try this because of its associations you'll probably be disappointed like I am Smells nothing like divine enfant, smells nothing like oriana I dont smell any marshmallow This smells very unisex. I officially give up on this house, just not for me.

I don't get anything sweet and tropical at all. Its very citrusy, fresh and musky. Which is nice. What is not nice is lasting power which is worse than a body spray. Because of that, its a pass for me. I think its definately a unisex fragrance, although it may lean a bit more toward feminine.

Very nice and subtle fragrance. On my skin all I get is marshmallow with a nice touch of mandarin. After some hours it does smell like an island. It’s nice. Just nothing out of the ordinary.

Way too strong of a shampoo esque scent for me. Like an orange blossom shampoo smell that’s taking the whole blend over. I wanted the marshmallow to shine. I’ll keep testing my decant. :/

Literally, smells like a very strong citric salsa mixed with celery & cilantro with a hint of orange rinds. That’s all I smell. I was expecting an orange cream soda smell but nope.

smells the way a sprite tastes. lemon, lime, fizzy, sweet. not particularly my style, but i can appreciate it. 🤷🏽♀️

This reminds me of Bond No 9 Queens.
