Wall Street

Wall street conjures up images of Gordon Gekko or Valentino suit clad, 80's twats sniffing cocaine and talking into brick mobile phones with a big rubber breadsticks coming out of the top, in true Patrick Bateman style. Bond No.9 's gimmick of naming the scents after parts of New York city is something I really love about the brand. I've got a real soft spot in my heart for NYC but I don't really associate a bright n breezy aquatic scent with the hustle and bustle world of the financial district. You could argue 'what does a street or neighborhood smell of anyway?' which is a fair point but other than being fairly close to the water I don't get the connection with Wall street here? I'd say wherever you are on Manhattan you're pretty close to water...even slap bang in the middle! Anyway... Words like "Aquatic?", notes like cucumber? This doesn't inspire confidence in me at all. Cucumber is a wonderful juicy, natural, smell but in perfume terms its usually strongly accentuated and curdled with creamy almond, vanilla, tonka or sandlewood etc...which for me make it nauseating. This is different...not accurate smelling but fresh and works really well in the aquatic setting. I do get hints of Sel Marine, similar salty seabreeze with none of the horrible elements or suncream. It's so vaguely salty, perfectly well handled seasoning and could be down to seaweed or less likely (more bizarrely) down to pistachio! More of a cooling, fruity, slightly metallic seaside exotic drink. There's a drier bitter orange note in there for sure and amorphous citrus and obvious vetiver. The base that it dries down too is warm with a puff of light white musk, yet still quite metallic which is fairly anomalous. This is a good one from Bond No.9 then...okay performance, unisex but totally at home on this man and even masculine leaning. To me this is better than the very pleasant Creed Millesime Imperial (Which seems like a worthy comparison)due to being more interesting. Performance is okay and I like the smell a lot...thumbs up for Wall street.

Bond No. 9's "Wall Street" is one of the more recent perfumes I've had the opportunity to test. I can testify that this can be a bit on the challenging and daring side, however, if you're into the notes and accords it possess, it can easily be a signature scent for the right person. The fragrance opens in a very aquatic and marine nature much like the note breakdown suggests. By the end of its lifespan, it has more of a musky and slightly animalic dry down. A dealbreaker for many people seems to be the seaweed and the leather notes which has given a "wet dog" accord. On the other hand, those that enjoy this scent will find it refreshing and slightly daring due to these notes. As others have mentioned, it's similar to Sean John's "Unforgivable" and Creed's "Millésime Imperial", though "Wall Street" is far better when it comes to performance. If you're a fan of those scents then this may be the right perfume for you. As previously memtioned, this fragrance doesn't disappoint. It will easily get you through a work day with moderate projection. Also, this will shine most during the warmer months and can be quite versatile when it comes to occassions. In closing, "Wall Street" can be that easy reach aromatic aquatic fragrance for the Summer as long as you're well aware of what you're getting into. As always, try before you buy. this is the most interesting aquatic fragrance i've tried to date. i get the cucumber and lemon right away upon application but they are quickly anchored by the ambergris and the seaweed and its fresh. about 15 minutes in, the top notes settle down and the fragrance becomes very evocative of fresh water (ie, lakes, rivers, definitely not beachy) mixed with skin. its a little dirty in that way, which is impressive given the fresh elements. it gets a little softer in the dry down but doesn't lose its "bite." somehow the fragrance strikes a cohesive balance between elusive and familiar. its edgy and sexy, but naturally so, which makes it extremely appealing. based on the wide range of descriptive reviews, I get the sense that the experience depends a lot on the wearer's chemistry and personal preferences. for me, its longevity is great and the projection is somewhat surprising... i wear bond fragrances a lot and can't ever remember getting the "something here smells really good right now" from co-workers a full 7-8 hours after application. i was actually several feet away from her. i hesitate to say its projection heavy, but I do think its slightly more than moderate. i'm literally in love.

I keep coming back to this one. One of the few Bond fragrances I like. They say you like fragrances because of memories or associations. And yes, I was stripping when this fragrance came out. I have heard from a reliable source that this fragrance was designed to smell like money. And if you smell crumpled up old American bills, this is reminiscent of that. Is it an exact match? No. But is it similar, yes I think so. Of course it's subjective. Stripping in a night club, this scent was introduced to me by an executive. I use to spray it on my ankles and legs, so that when customers would reach up towards the stage, and put money in my socks, they would smell it. (There weren't many other places to tip.) I always found I had "good nights" on days I sprayed $$$. Dazzle the drunks with fragrance. Although I found I had waaay better nights with Coromandel. Spray some of that down low ;) and you'll really get attention. Everyone constantly says "Oh you smell good". Now I have moved on into a somewhat stable career. Those years are gone. But I can still reminisce...

Went from a like to a love❤️ Bond is a wacky house and this fragrance being marketed as a Wall Street fragrance is evidence of that. Had they marketed this correctly I think it would have been much more successful, but I digress. When I first tried this several years ago I wasn't a fan. I tried a 2023 bottle (nobody can solve bond's batch codes) at the boutique today. I'd swear this has been reformulated or perhaps my tastes changed. The seaweed and cucumber has been severely toned down and the tart (borderline sour) lemon and orange has been bumped up. I get these citruses for 2-3 hours now and I really like them. The seaweed does come out later but it's dosed way down, and the salt is still there It's still a little challenging in the late drydown with a bit of musky vibe. But I like it now as a citrus marine with a different approach and dis purchase a bottle. Great projection here as well and solid longevity. Scent 9/10 Performance 8/10 P. S. 7 hours later, it actually does smell like fresh cash from the bank.
