Drunk Maple

An absolute powerhouse of a scent, Drunk Maple is part of a line of BORNTOSTANDOUT fragrances alongside Drunk Saffron and Drunk Lovers. They're all marketed as boozy fragrances, but to my nose, the most prominent thing about them is the warm, sticky sweetness. The absolute tiniest spray of Drunk Maple balloons to fill an entire room and lasts for days. I'm very picky about gourmands, both as someone with a sensitive nose and as someone who shies away from hyperfeminine fragrances, but Drunk Maple is perhaps the first gourmand I have smelt that I have wanted to wear myself. It's rich and dark and sugary with the sweet maple and smoky leather combining to create an experience that reminds me of burnt maple syrup stuck to a pan. Though that may sound unpleasant, in my opinion, it's a scent strong enough to warm you from the outside in. If that doesn't paint a clear enough picture, then a friend of mine has described it as my "sexy pancakes" fragrance. The smoke and pepper has a distinctly masculinising effect on the sweeter notes, but I'd still say this is a fragrance that can be worn by any gender. I'm usually extremely sensitive to vanilla, but in this fragrance, it's very much a supporting note and doesn't overpower the other ingredients. This is definitely one to sample before buying because those who are sensitive to fragrance may find it overwhelming — luckily, I can manage with a couple of small sprays, but I definitely wouldn't want to overspray. It lasts a really long time on clothes as well if you'd rather spray there than on your skin. I truthfully can only wear this in the absolute coldest and darkest of winter nights. It's far too strong and sweet on even the most marginally warm of days, but it's exactly what I want when my fingers are freezing. For that reason, a bottle can last a really long time, especially if you're not spraying much with each use.

Waking up on new years morning in the log cabin you and your friends rented for the holiday. In order to curb the hangover you slip yourself a shot of rum in your sweet black coffee as you make pancakes. Before sitting down to eat, you fix a fire in the cabin to stay warm as others slowly rise from their drunken slumber. Good times are shared as you all retell stupid stories of the night over the sweet and thick maple syrupy pancakes and rummy coffee. Life is good. Wow. Gooey, sweet, thick and warm maple syrup, black and rum-filled coffee, cozy and fuzzy suede, and a dark and intriguing charred woods and benzoin backbone. So damn sexy, and yet so casual about it. As feurermaiden says, if you’re a fan of the genre of smoky/woody gourmands, you’re really gonna like this one. I know I sure do. Can see this becoming a 10/10 when I give my sample a twinge more wear in a few months when the cool weather comes back. Very powerful projection for the first 2-3 ish hours, sinking to within arms as it dries, 7-8 ish hours performance. 9.7/10. F/W Signature scent worthy. Song vibe - Sick Love by Red Hot Chili Peppers EDIT: Having worn this a few times, this stuff is much more powerful than letting on. Was throwing my clothes in the washer and the shirt I sprayed this on nearly a week ago still smelled like pancakes. Also, there is a very similar warm, toasted vanilla aromachemical being used in this in the base that is used in "Whiff of Wafflecone" by Imaginary Authors, obviously less overdosed in this one.

Great scent! Absolutely dominant smoky maple syrup notes, not too sweet but just the right amount, but it's just so conveniently supported by slight boozy notes, slight davana, somewhat of a wormwood liquor sweetness but really in the background, pink pepper is barely there but you don't really need to notice it too much anyhow, it's just there to slightly open up this frag. Nice vanilla and coffee not overpowering the whole pack, the resinous notes are really a compliment in there in a really smooth way. Absolute masterpiece. On a side note it also may feel slightly linnear to some people but I don't think it's a bad thing for this piece. Not too crazy beast mode projection but definitely don't overspray it. Still freshly sprayed on me but I feel it will last a long time also. Definitely want to add to my collection. So in love. Also I feel like some people might be able to pull it off not only in the cold months but not in melting heats. Few hours in - still strong presence, more on the really smoky side, a nice leathery kick comes in as well reminding you of your favorite suede jacket. I'd say it does lean more on the masculine side. It's nice as it leaves you with that niche fragrance vibe but isn't something super crazy but definitely not a simple or by any means ordinary. Really fell in love with it.

Sampling Borntostandout Drunk Maple, probably the fragrance I’ve seen online most from this house, and the one I was most drawn to try, and it’s really quite aptly named, mixing maple and booze in a rich gourmand that smells refined and classy, a nod to gourmand lovers that’s not overly sweet, and one of the best conceptions of maple that I’ve smelled in fragrance. The main notes are maple, rum, coffee, pink pepper, and benzoin. It has a vaguely metallic vibe that for me coincides with the extreme caramelization of toffee, and it works as a great counterpoint Like the rest of the line, this is EDP concentration and priced $215 for 50ml, sold via various US retailers like Ministry of Scent and Twisted Lily. It performs well and is personally a fragrance that I enjoy very much, and it makes the pricing palatable. 8 out of 10

I just knew I shouldn't have sprayed my sample of this until the fall because I would end up having to buy the full size. I KNEW it. This is absolutely divine. It's like if Whiff of Waffle Cone, By The Fireplace, and Praline in Maple all got together and had some conglomeration of a little smoky-sweet delectable baby. The ultimate fall and winter scent. Nothing gets better than this to me in terms of a warm, smoky gourmand laced with rum and deep, ambery, sappy maple syrup. Picture it. It's cold outside and you're sitting by your wood burning fireplace with a big blanket and a giant stack of maple syrup drenched pancakes in front of you. You're sipping on a coffee and all is right with the world. Pure bliss. I don't think I've ever went and bought something so fast. 100/10. RIP my bank account..
