Drunk Maple

An absolute powerhouse of a scent, Drunk Maple is part of a line of BORNTOSTANDOUT fragrances alongside Drunk Saffron and Drunk Lovers. They're all marketed as boozy fragrances, but to my nose, the most prominent thing about them is the warm, sticky sweetness. The absolute tiniest spray of Drunk Maple balloons to fill an entire room and lasts for days. I'm very picky about gourmands, both as someone with a sensitive nose and as someone who shies away from hyperfeminine fragrances, but Drunk Maple is perhaps the first gourmand I have smelt that I have wanted to wear myself. It's rich and dark and sugary with the sweet maple and smoky leather combining to create an experience that reminds me of burnt maple syrup stuck to a pan. Though that may sound unpleasant, in my opinion, it's a scent strong enough to warm you from the outside in. If that doesn't paint a clear enough picture, then a friend of mine has described it as my "sexy pancakes" fragrance. The smoke and pepper has a distinctly masculinising effect on the sweeter notes, but I'd still say this is a fragrance that can be worn by any gender. I'm usually extremely sensitive to vanilla, but in this fragrance, it's very much a supporting note and doesn't overpower the other ingredients. This is definitely one to sample before buying because those who are sensitive to fragrance may find it overwhelming — luckily, I can manage with a couple of small sprays, but I definitely wouldn't want to overspray. It lasts a really long time on clothes as well if you'd rather spray there than on your skin. I truthfully can only wear this in the absolute coldest and darkest of winter nights. It's far too strong and sweet on even the most marginally warm of days, but it's exactly what I want when my fingers are freezing. For that reason, a bottle can last a really long time, especially if you're not spraying much with each use.

Waking up on new years morning in the log cabin you and your friends rented for the holiday. In order to curb the hangover you slip yourself a shot of rum in your sweet black coffee as you make pancakes. Before sitting down to eat, you fix a fire in the cabin to stay warm as others slowly rise from their drunken slumber. Good times are shared as you all retell stupid stories of the night over the sweet and thick maple syrupy pancakes and rummy coffee. Life is good. Wow. Gooey, sweet, thick and warm maple syrup, black and rum-filled coffee, cozy and fuzzy suede, and a dark and intriguing charred woods and benzoin backbone. So damn sexy, and yet so casual about it. As feurermaiden says, if you’re a fan of the genre of smoky/woody gourmands, you’re really gonna like this one. I know I sure do. Can see this becoming a 10/10 when I give my sample a twinge more wear in a few months when the cool weather comes back. Very powerful projection for the first 2-3 ish hours, sinking to within arms as it dries, 7-8 ish hours performance. 9.7/10. F/W Signature scent worthy. Song vibe - Sick Love by Red Hot Chili Peppers EDIT: Having worn this a few times, this stuff is much more powerful than letting on. Was throwing my clothes in the washer and the shirt I sprayed this on nearly a week ago still smelled like pancakes. Also, there is a very similar warm, toasted vanilla aromachemical being used in this in the base that is used in "Whiff of Wafflecone" by Imaginary Authors, obviously less overdosed in this one.

Great scent! Absolutely dominant smoky maple syrup notes, not too sweet but just the right amount, but it's just so conveniently supported by slight boozy notes, slight davana, somewhat of a wormwood liquor sweetness but really in the background, pink pepper is barely there but you don't really need to notice it too much anyhow, it's just there to slightly open up this frag. Nice vanilla and coffee not overpowering the whole pack, the resinous notes are really a compliment in there in a really smooth way. Absolute masterpiece. On a side note it also may feel slightly linnear to some people but I don't think it's a bad thing for this piece. Not too crazy beast mode projection but definitely don't overspray it. Still freshly sprayed on me but I feel it will last a long time also. Definitely want to add to my collection. So in love. Also I feel like some people might be able to pull it off not only in the cold months but not in melting heats. Few hours in - still strong presence, more on the really smoky side, a nice leathery kick comes in as well reminding you of your favorite suede jacket. I'd say it does lean more on the masculine side. It's nice as it leaves you with that niche fragrance vibe but isn't something super crazy but definitely not a simple or by any means ordinary. Really fell in love with it.

Sampling Borntostandout Drunk Maple, probably the fragrance I’ve seen online most from this house, and the one I was most drawn to try, and it’s really quite aptly named, mixing maple and booze in a rich gourmand that smells refined and classy, a nod to gourmand lovers that’s not overly sweet, and one of the best conceptions of maple that I’ve smelled in fragrance. The main notes are maple, rum, coffee, pink pepper, and benzoin. It has a vaguely metallic vibe that for me coincides with the extreme caramelization of toffee, and it works as a great counterpoint Like the rest of the line, this is EDP concentration and priced $215 for 50ml, sold via various US retailers like Ministry of Scent and Twisted Lily. It performs well and is personally a fragrance that I enjoy very much, and it makes the pricing palatable. 8 out of 10

I just knew I shouldn't have sprayed my sample of this until the fall because I would end up having to buy the full size. I KNEW it. This is absolutely divine. It's like if Whiff of Waffle Cone, By The Fireplace, and Praline in Maple all got together and had some conglomeration of a little smoky-sweet delectable baby. The ultimate fall and winter scent. Nothing gets better than this to me in terms of a warm, smoky gourmand laced with rum and deep, ambery, sappy maple syrup. Picture it. It's cold outside and you're sitting by your wood burning fireplace with a big blanket and a giant stack of maple syrup drenched pancakes in front of you. You're sipping on a coffee and all is right with the world. Pure bliss. I don't think I've ever went and bought something so fast. 100/10. RIP my bank account..

I like to spray this on right after I take a nice hot shower and plan on spending the evening in my pajamas snuggling on the couch. I’d wear it to brunch, or casually in the winter. It’s effortless, sexy, and STRONG. I like strong scents but one or two sprays will do. It develops so nicely and smells differently in different stages along the way. I can smell it on me for 24 hrs! It’s a unique scent that is really reminiscent of breakfast food. Maple bacon for sure. Yea, it’s unisex I suppose. I do really enjoy the smell of this scent bubble on me very much. But, it is an odd scent and finding places where I’d wear this would be challenging I suppose. And for the cost, I’m not gonna buy a full bottle to wear at home. If it was cheaper I totally would. I’ll just use my sample.

It's a great winter fragrance. When I tested it for the first time it gave me the yummy candied nuts impression. Once I bought it and opened the bottle it smelled much more boozy, but rum booziness disappeared after half an hour or so. I love that it is sweet without a dessert gourmand quality because the sweetness is mixed with some balsamic notes, animalistic accord from suede, and lots of wood. It's quite unisex IMO. I don't get a coffee note at all. It is pretty long-lasting and I love layering it with some sweet vanilla gourmand like Eclaire, the lactonic creaminess of it takes away the boozy harshness and mixes into a divine holiday scent.

After sampling this for months my wife bought me a bottle for my birthday today so I can live in a cloud of maple syrup forever :-D This shares a couple of things with Followed. It has a similar breakfast pancakes accord, but this one goes leathery and never has that weird curry effect followed has. Second is its performance is absolutely eternal on clothes. I sprayed my coat cuff months ago in a store and it still smells. I do like Followed but this one is more wearable in my opinion. Just go easy because it is nuclear.

A rum heavy maple syrup that’s paired with a brown suede and a hint of coffee roast. Opens with a heavy dose of rum bended with a thick maple syrup note. The coffee sneaks in a bit as the scent develops but it only pokes its head in and quickly leaves. It’s only momentarily there, overtaken by the suede. The dry down maintains that boozy maple combo but it’s calmed down now with more focus on the vanilla and sandalwood. The scent feels warm and enveloping. It also lasts long and projects well.

Wow. I have a theory that the commenters with negative reviews are attempting to gatekeep this fragrance. It’s daring—you have to be bold to wear this regularly. Smells like pure maple syrup and spicy rum to me, but the dry-down is a long and enjoyable journey. Settles into a more mature and complex scent that will NOT be forgotten until you scrub it off in the shower. Unapologetically sexy, but in an original way that I really admire. This may be BTSO’s masterpiece.

This is a banger of a fragrance , it opens up with a nice sweet maple note nicely rounded with the rum and coffee note. Suprisingly it does not smell too sweet due to how it is offset by the coffee and rum. It is a beautiful gourmand fragrance , it is not complex however as it is well rounded i dont think it needs to be Scent : 8.5/10 Projection : 9/10 Longevity : 8.5/10 Overall 8.5/10

Such a unique perfume!!!! When it fully dries down it's just pure maple with a hint of coffee in the background... all though it's a bit odd and very strong in the beginning - rum, maple, suede, coffee. Very very long lasting with great sillage! Love!!!!!! Definitely one of my favorite Perfumes that I own now! Worth every penny!

i can never find this fragrance in stock at stores that sell Born to stand out, super glad i got a bottle of this because maple is such an intoxicating & interesting scent it’s incredibly smoky & sticky maple syrupy if maple syrup cigars are a thing, i imagine they smell something like this

I sprayed this on a tester strip about 3 weeks back and it’s still quite strong. Great performance and a very realistic maple scent especially in the dry down. Price is bit much but definitely something I’d like to own in future. 10/10

I get photorealistic maple Manhattan. It’s so boozy to my nose. I love it, but people who hate brown liquor will not.

Drunk Maple stumbles in, dark and heady, like a tumbler of aged spiced rum knocked back too fast. Unexpected (though I should’ve known better, given the name), since its scent from the cap promised something far sweeter, even deceivingly so. In contrast it opens so incredibly boozy on skin, unfiltered, like sticky heat rising from the glass. The opening is intoxicating in every sense, a flash of caramelized warmth laced with a liquor-soaked edge, rich yet volatile, like something that could ignite if left too close to a flame. Yet after five minutes or so, it does indeed melt into that very sugar bomb I whiffed from the cap. Not smooth or milky, but rather a viscous river of molten maple syrup, thick, saccharine, almost suffocating in its density. Think a strong scent of burnt sugar clinging to clothes long after a night out, but also something a little too irritatingly relentless. Sweetness with nowhere to go, sticking, wrapping, refusing to let up. It's fun! It’s indulgent, truly. But imo, it really does wear you more than you wear it. A pleasant, well crafted scent that’s best left to hover in the air, rather than pressed too close to skin—delectable but well, unwearable is putting it lightly.

It starts off with a decadent blast of maple, super sweet and thick--but then as it starts to drydown the suede and coffee start to creep in which changes it from a sort of sweet gourmand-y scent to something more dark and smokey. Funny enough as it sat on my skin I felt like it started to smell like a maple flavored bbq sauce. Once it settled the result was more of a roasted maple scent.

Like, but not love. It reminds me too much of bourbon. On my skin, what's coming through is the rum, pink pepper, and leather. Not maple. But it's a great scent and I see the appeal. This is a fully masculine fragrance. I think it's definitely a winter scent too, it even evokes a christmassy type of feeling.

It's what it says on the tin - for me, it's a perfect rendition of maple syrup, which gradually becomes more boozy over time. But while I'm a gourmand girlie, even I don't know if I can stomach smelling like a continental breakfast. I might consider buying it if I found something good to layer it with.

Hear me out.. By the fireplace.. Right? The rum is strong when you first spray and the dry down stays the same even after some hours. It’s very sweet and smoky. I only get the coffee if I think about it but it might be placebo because I read the reviews before creating my own opinion about this.

Boozy maple syrup and burning leaves. Fall hike ready! Let’s go get lost in a corn maze! Dont spray it on your clothes though at some point it will get overwhelming and you want the option to wash it off.

I like this 4 what it s but wont wear it but i do enjoy sniffing it this is artistic it reminds me of Chinese medicine and eating pancakes at the same time is so funny but is real not kidding

this is very linear, it literally smells the same as freshly sprayed on even after 3 weeks. but it doesnt change the fact that it smells DELICIOUS

The smell of good old warm banya (sauna) made of oak and filled with sauna wisks. And before that you are treated with a pepper vodka. A very strong one. It smells warm, almost smokey but without smoke, and very peppery. I smell more tree sap, than maple syrup. If someone likes bold, strong scents - that’s for them, or if someone misses their home and “banya” - they might like it too. I was hoping for more sweet accords, but it’s more “mature” and on overwhelming side.

It gives off a bourbon maple impression on first spray before it mellows out into a more seductive syrup scent. Too bad everything's shrouded in burnt suede that makes it smell like a BBQ gone wrong... Knowing BTSO I could guess this is a concept perfume meant to resemble burnt bacon and pancakes. Either way, it's not for me, or maybe anyone who just wants a rich maple perfume without an Extra Thing.

I like the scent, but I wish it were less intense. STRONG woody maple, not at all subtle, and sickeningly sweet. With the longevity being what it is, by the end of the day you’ve been completely drowning in it. Headache, stomachache, toothache. Ultimately a pass for me, but if I could find something a little subtler, less sweet, maybe a hint of coffee, I’d be over the moon.

I love maple and have been looking for a dark complex gourmand for the winter wear. Drunk Maple is far more smoky than I was expecting. I don't get rum but maybe a super peat forward scotch. It's a little sweet but if I were blind smelling it I'm not sure I would guess maple. Disapointing. Not very wearable in my opinion and doesn't live up to its name.

Burnt maple sugar in coffee. Also smoky, for some reason? I don't hate this, it could be a pleasant candle scent. But I would not wear this as a perfume, this is very strong, very gourmand, projects very far and doesn't let go. It's not a bad scent, it's interesting, it's just not my thing.

Sweet, woody, BOOZY maple syrup in a bottle. This would be perfect to wear to a holiday party, or maybe a ski resort. I wanted to like this fragrance so bad but it just too boozy for my taste. If it relaxed a bit on the rum it would be perfection.

So I suppose I should lead in by saying that this perfume definitely does encapsulate the name of the house. It starts off with a really delectable syrupy opening and I'm definitely getting the maple which was pleasing to begin with however my expectations of a sweet boozy gourmand were subverted by the rum crashing through and begging to scream louder than all the other notes. There's boozy perfumes and there's well...this I suppose? As it dried down I started to feel like I was beginning to smell like a brewery, way too overpowering with the liquor note here and it stays tied down too, feels almost like the rum was overpoured in a manner of speaking. It definitely lingers and projects massively so if you're looking to make a statement and want the alcoholic aspect to dominate in the foreground whilst the sweeter parts are sort of backup dancing in the background then this is for you, the vanilla is noticable and appreciated too but yeah this is way too strong for my liking. Perhaps I shouldn't be surprised? Although after trying Drunk Lovers which I found to be more subtle I suppose it gave me the impression that this might be blended more evenly, but how wrong I was!

I did not like this...I am so sad. It was TOO rich for me. I prefer creamy, fruity scents, so the strength of the rum and oak on top of the syrupy goop was not my cup of tea. I think that if you like woody, rich, syrupy scents definitely try this out. I used to be into wood and caramel scents, so I may have liked this more about 7 years ago.

I wanted so badly to fall in love based on the notes of this scent. Sadly, the maple fully evaded me, so did the promised booziness! all i could smell was burnt peatmoss. Forever. And listen, i don't hate a smoky base for depth, but for me, this just felt monotonous and neverending. Nothing unfolded for me

I got my discovery set today, and I tried the drunk maple first. I didn’t enjoy it. It’s more like a strong, smoky maple syrup scent, honestly just smells like a candle not at all seductive or alluring, and it almost gave me a headache.

This is disappointing for me - the bottle smells like delicious maple syrup, but on my skin I get nothing that resembles that deliciousness, no maple, no syrup, no maple syrup :( I get very smoky dry wood. Unwearable.

I don’t really like this...not sure what it smells like, but I’m not a fan. Moderate longevity and sillage.

NOT A REVIEW: This house has been pumping out new fragrances left and right and I’m so here for it. I have really enjoyed a lot of what I have sampled so far, which isn’t even half of what they have to offer. That said, this one—based on the name and note breakdown alone—seems to have been made for me, and I could not be any more excited to try it. I’ve been looking for a great men’s/unisex perfume with a prominent maple/maple syrup note in it that isn’t exclusively a gourmand for the LONGEST time. Granted, I haven’t smelled this yet so who knows perhaps I’m just getting my hopes up for a perfume that will ultimately smell simply of maple and a cloyingly sweet vanilla—but I’m optimistic given it’s note pyramid. I think what gets me the most excited about this release is the use of suede. I absolutely love suede notes in perfumery, especially those that are paired with sweeter notes. So it absolutely blows my mind that they decided to make a perfume with two of my favorite smells in the world being maple and suede. It’s a combination I’ve always wanted to smell, and I have even considered trying my hand at making something myself with aroma chemicals and perfume oils to try and scratch that creative itch, because I really think it will work. I am ecstatic to get my nose on this.

From the minute this went on, I felt Jeke 22 -- Pancakes Jeke. It's boozy, brown sugary and a whole heap of base resin behind it. I liked this one, and in many circumstances I would consider this, but I feel I already have this in Jeke, and to some extent Kaffistova, so I can happily pass on this one. But it is a well put-together scent, deep, rich, intoxicating and addictive -- I prefer the Jeke version (the base and tobacco is a much nicer counterbalance, I feel), and I can see a lot of people losing their biscuits over this one. The coffee note isn't too over-the-top, but I feel this one will appeal to people who like making an entrance...

Drunk Maple, by Born To Stand Out, smells like the sweetest, dense, concentrated maple syrup. If the smell of maple syrup sounds good to you, this is an amazing choice. The perfume is delicious and intriguing. It's a unique gourmand, presented through the iconic brand's DNA. As any Born To Stand Out perfume, the blending is amazing. Besides the maple syrup, it's hard to pick up the notes. Either way, you can dissect the fragrance and see how a combination of maple, rum, velvety suede leather, coffee, vanilla, tonka beans and benzoin generated the final scent.

I get Russian leather, not soft suede on my skin, unfortunately. On the strip, it smelled like straight maple syrup and breakfast pancakes. On the skin, the leather note ruined it for me. Leather can really be tricky for me. I recommend this for a gourmand for a man. This would be great for a man who wants a gourmand in his collection, as I find the majority of gourmands to be strictly feminine. There is something carnal about this, and I don't find gourmand's to be sexy, either. OK, 10 minutes later it is much more palatable for me. I like it, not a love.

On me it was just the maple syrup all along, maybe with a touch of something burning (in a nice way). So realistic it didn’t make me feel like I would wear it often, even though I found it delicious. Performance is out of this world, over 12 hours projecting and I could still smell it in the air after I took a long hot shower. If you’re looking for a very realistic maple syrup scent, go for it

Oh yeah, this is fkin good. A huge stack of pancakes and syrup while on a leather couch. So good. Very little coffee for me. Boozy maple syrup leather. It does change a bit, but after 2 hours you have the drydown for DECADES. I did 1.5 shots from a brand new decant. My first try from the brand, next are Nana and Sin & P.

Smells like a less offensive version of Lune Feline to me. There’s a smokey, peppery aspect to it that I hate tbh, it’s quite strong. I also detect the coffee but it’s kinda hard to pick up on with the aforementioned notes in the way. The sweet syrup barely comes through for me unfortunately.

Smokey, thick maple syrup on top of cognac-flambéed fluffy pancakes. Sweet but not overly so, with the woody smokeyness providing a needed balance to this heavy scent. A welcome addition to the gourmand family.

Been testing this & Mary Jane sadly both Are not for me this is a synthetic maple syrup With a burned charred aspect and at times reminds me of bacon. Very synth-ey in all regards

Very nasty and way too alcoholic. It smells like spilling liquor all over your chest while wearing a random vanilla body spray. Unwearable unless you’re in a dive bar I guess.

Nothing unique about this Fragrance at all, it reminds a lot of Kilian Black Phantom with some additional attributes. Nothing new to find here
