Oud Candy

Oud Candy is my third favorite from this house with Fugazzi and Black Creme coming in second. It has a unique opening that’s a bit greasy and oily but it quickly fades away. Then woody leathery notes emerge. It’s sweet but not overly sticky thanks to the oud and saffron which mellow sweetness. The performance is same all in their extrait line. Which is extremely loud and persistent. You’ll be able to smell it until you sleep. Scent : 4/5 Longevity : 6/5 Projection : 5/5 Versatility : 2/5

Oud Candy from BTSO perfumed by Margaux Le Paih-Guérin opens up dripping with melted caramelized sugar and a light smoky oud. There is this warm air essence of roasted nuts that reminds me of the county fairs in the fall season. This is savory yet sweet. Truly an artistic blend with Margaux's signature all over it. It's very wearable but less so if gourmands are not your thing. A must try if your a fan of her other works with BTSO.

Where to start: Oud Candy is hard to love, but not easy to forget. This is intriguingly addictive, for some reason. Smoky burnt plastic with fruits in the background. I would throw this on in the colder days, for outdoor use.

reminds me alot of gissah la luna but its not the same at all. the general vibe is close but its nice asf. although wtf is the purpose of that fruity ass opening if in 10 minutes itll just end up being a dark sugary oud smell

This fragrance isn’t about comfort; it’s about presence. Strangely, it feels like the base and top notes have been flipped upside down. What should be the deep, lingering foundation hits first—sterile, bone-dry woods and rugged leather. It’s an immediate and unrelenting impact, leaning masculine with an air of cold precision. But as the hours pass—because this one lasts, and then some—the unexpected happens! A quiet sweetness stirs, peeking through the storm. A whisper of caramel and burnt brown sugar, restrained yet persistent, emerges late in the game, as if the fragrance is finally exhaling after holding its breath. The sharp edges never truly fade, but they make room for something warmer, something almost... human. Longevity is beastly, projection unwavering. Wear it with confidence or don’t wear it at all! This is not a casual scent, nor a safe blind buy—it’s a bold statement, a study in contrasts, and a masterpiece for those who dare!

Super strong and crazy projections as most BTSO extraits are. Compliment machine. Can become aggressive if oversprayed. 4-7 should be plenty enough. Mainly pickup a western oud with ‘calm’ sweetness to it. In dry down you can smell the ‘candy’ in which I would relate it to something that would be caramel filled. By the base notes it’s defiantly wood and brown sugar. I sprayed at 10am before going to work and it lasted until 9pm. By 7pm it was at an intimate level. Mind you, my job was spent 4-5 hours outside in the Florida humidity and 2 hours inside in which I was fairly active and physical. 8.5/10. Would be higher if the scent didn’t smell familiar to other gourmands of a similar profile. Rating is carried by its performance and non-linear properties.

A rather soft fragrance—probably the softest among all four new releases. The oud in the scent has a slightly leathery nuance, with caramel and a hint of white flowers in the background. It stays close to the skin (at least with a single spray), especially considering that other fragrances in this line have quite a powerful sillage. A very wearable and easy-to-understand scent.

I love this. This is a soft, dry, woody type of fragrance. Dries down to pure dry woodiness with oud and sweetness in the background. Smells a lot like dry sauna's wood scent. The leather, spicies, and woodiness gives off Babycat vibe. If you're into Babycat but want something not a lot of people know and something more subtle, this is for you.

Didn't really like this, and the main reason is because of my expectations going in. "Oud Candy" you'd expect it to be sweet, but it's really subtle in that department, the dominant notes are the plasticy-petrol oud, leather, and woodiness. The leather & oud don't go together at all, and that's mostly because of the oud like I mentioned before; smells weird ash. Projects really well, and lasts 11 hours. I feel bad because this clearly has some unfair ratings on it. This is my first experience with BTSO, but I still have high hopes.

I was going to review the discovery set but I had the same experience with all four, so suffice it say these are all unwearable. 90% of my collection is loaded with synthetics, I have no problem with that. The problem is these suffer from the same problem Lorenzo Pazzaglia fragrances suffer from, they are simply too concentrated with said ingredients, which make them smell like a chemical soup. I mean no disrespect and don’t appreciate overly negative reviews but I don’t actually know how to say it any other way. The trend of “beast mode” driven scents often completely ruins the potential of what would ordinarily be a pleasant scent. It’s as if each ingredient is aggressively competing for the limelight but none of them can shine through the amalgamated greasy sludge. I don’t mind loud fragrances and I also appreciate Oud but these are simply too much for me. These scream for attention and don’t personally suit my style but if that’s your thing you may find them fun and interesting. It would be ironic to see a new flanker trend of lighter versions of pre-existing extraits in the years to come.

The type of oud that makes me question why I ever try oud again. That plasticky, overworked, sugared-leather kind glossed with berries that feel like they were piped from a synthetic cream canister. There’s a vanillin fog, yes, and syrupy florals like rose, the usual partner-in-excess. But everything is clinging onto a loud, sterile alcohol base like cheap lacquer on a vinyl purse. Think leather polish + stevia + department store parfum. Ooh. The oud here isn’t oud, not really. It’s more like a shadow of the real thing, agarwood molecules lab-assembled with extra noise. There’s no nuance, no animalic thrum, no fungi-humid, cellar-dark depth. Just a strange, plastic polish smell, like rubbing methylated perfume oil into leatherette. And oud is already tricky. It need to be coaxed, not coated, but here it is drowned beneath the sweetness and drowned again under a layer of harsh solvent. No fermentation, perfumed skank, no soul. Just gloss. Noise. And that lingering sharpness that smells vaguely like... antiseptic? Super not it.

Smells like warm plastic. It's that feeling when you have your face very close to plastic like blowing up a rubber inner tube for the pool. Somewhere far in the background theres something faintly barely sweet. That's all. This fragrance has nuclear sillage and longevity. It's also extremely oily when sprayed.

Right. I loved it on first smell, I then claimed it made me nauseous. I've now been testing it more long term and my 'final' opinion is that I do actually like it a hell of a lot. It's a fantastic creation and very fun to wear. I also think the name 'Oud Candy' doesn't quite do it justice. It has a more serious tone. I noticed this by spraying three or four perfumes on my arms, and forgetting what I'd sprayed. When I realised one was Oud Candy, for a moment or two I had a different view on it, in a good way, not that Oud Candy is a bad name but still, it goes to show what marketing can do.

For something with candy in the name, it’s actually not very sweet at all. The opening is incredibly woody, smokey, and leathery. The oud has an oily petrol feeling and the saffron gives it warmth and a little spice. Once it dries down, the sweeter caramel notes come through and it becomes very milky on my skin. Longevity and sillage are insane. It lasts forever.

The bar is super low on this one lol. And yes it does sound like a case of sour stomach. But I guess low expectations have their benefits. Not that bad! At all. The name is pretty literal, and pretty stupid. But if you are drawn to oud, it's a take worth giving a chance. It is sharp, it wafts. For extroverts. You might be answering some questions lol.

Horrible! Can't believe they have the nerve to put "candy" in the title of this fragrance lol. It's bad and STRONG. I'm so happy this was a free sample. Just oud and leather with an underlying note of shoe polish as Jtaimeniche mentioned. I also got a free sample of Sugar Addict, which I loved but Oud Candy is definitely not for me.
