Sex & Cognac

Hello everyone, this is probably too much of an exaggeration for a relatively young Niche house from Korea, but it seems quite popular and it somewhat clones the scents of scents from other brands. other spices. In particular, this scent is quite similar to Tamburins' Unknown Oud, a product also from Korea with a quite high price. And finally, you should not waste your money on this company because there will be many better choices in the same price segment on the market that also have better tracking performance.

This straight up smells like an ultra sexy Palo santo smudge. The oud is there but light (to my nose at least). It’s clean and layers well with sweet sugary scents (think Eilish or Kayali Silk Santal). This and Sugar Addict ate my favorites from the house.

6/10 Based on the brand's name, fragrances name and bottle design, it looks like one more fast fashion brand playing on the "be edgy, fuck society" vibe, all the while asking you to be a good consumerist and pay $50 for a white t-shirt. Now to the juice. Opening is strong in oud and a toned-down version of cognac, booze minus the complexity and depth. Saffron's spiciness then timidly emerges in the background, while leather and papyrus provide a moderate animalic bitterness. The evolution is pretty linear given how major the oud notes remains, and again the juice never gets very complex or deep. Overall Sex & Cognac stays on the bittersweet opening note, which I still find enjoyable. So I think this works if you consider it's gonna sit on the shelf of a late teen/early twenty kid making baby steps into fragrances. It's straightforward, delivers a few pleasant notes, and paves the way for more subtle fragrances once the kid graduates.

I'm embarrassed to say that this fragrance makes me go full Jeremy Fragrance "i wanna have actually sex right now and i do like this quite a lot." Somehow floral but like daaark and musky. It reminds me a lot of Whisky, 1969 by Thin Wild Mercury but with more balance to it. I had the same initial reaction to smelling W1969, but after actually wearing it for 5 minutes found myself quite overstimulated by it, and by the end of the night swore to never wear it again because of how well it stuck around. By comparison, this does also have staying power and I often smell it on my clothes the next day but don't mind it nearly as much because it doesn't feel as overwhelming. This is one of the few BTSO fragrances that actually does stand out to me, for better or for worse. Definitely not an everyday scent for me but a fun one for sure.

Leathery, syrupy oud. Good for someone who wants to test the waters when it comes to animalic oud scents. It's not too dirty or offensive, but it's certainly not an easy wear either. The cognac isn't prominent unfortunately, but there's a nice syrupy sweetness that when paired with the oud starts to smell like molasses cookies. The performance is what you'd expect from a real oud fragrance, it lasts all day, and people will smell you from a few feet away. I dabbed a little from a sample bottle on my hand while at work, and everyone who came into my office could smell it.

How interesting! This smells like hot dry wood. Like sticking your nose up to the wooden walls of a hot sauna or like a tree struck by lightning. It smells deep and mystical and has the same licorice root smell that I get in Interlude man. I like this but wouldn't personally want to smell like it.

This is the second bottle I own from this brand, which is also a blind buy. I wanted to get something boozy and somewhat seductive simply because I don't have many such perfumes in my collection. The moment I read the name, I immediately jumped to the conclusion that this was the bottle I was looking for. Unfortunately, it turns out to be completely different from my expectation. I have to say that the name is misleading. The opening is spicy and dry and can be too sharp to some people. I don't mean that it is unpleasant, but the dryness here is rough, and even dusty. I can picture myself in a spice shop on a hot day, inhaling the spice powder mixed up with dust in the air. Then soon leather comes up. Together with the dry spicy note, it smells quite heavy on my skin. I can hardly get any cognac here, nothing boozy at all. There is not much depth, or it does not develop much on my skin. It is rather simple and straightforward, dry spicy leathery dusty all the way. However, the performance is amazing. It lasts easily a whole day on my skin, and the sillage is noticeably strong. I would not recommend it as an office perfume. Some colleagues may not appreciate the roughness.

Amazing name, average fragrance. Quite disappointed with this fragrance, its a boozy fragrance with some spice, leather and burnt wood. Very linear scent that I find to be... boring? The name Sex & cognac is SO GOOD I was expecting cognac, warm skin, silk sheets.. something dirty and sexy, instead its linear and bland. Longevity is good 5-6 hours on skin and 12+ on clothes. Projections moderate. Shines best at night or on colder days. 5/10

Starts out 🙂 sexy and boozy but that doesn’t last. A overstated leather and wood accord takes over the scent and the whole thing kinda goes sour.

Even though I tested this blind not looking at the name or notes till I sit down at the end of the day, this just simply came across as a mild vetiver fragrance with a bit of smokiness to it. For me it doesn't really have anything playing along with it to bring some depth and character. So, I more than chuckled that this fragrance's name is sex and cognac. Makes me think one has not had enough sex and cognac yet. It's more like bored and burning a stick over a fire while your friends who promised you wouldn't feel like a third wheel if you join them on their camping trip, so bored twig burning is more like it. Clearly it's the blend of the notes giving the false sense of vetiver to me, minus the cognac. Seriously, there is no cognac in this. Peaty Scotch, maybe a hint. While the longevity and projection are admirable, I ordered sex and cognac and got a nice smelling burnt stick.

I tend to consider to have quite a strong "stomach" for scents. This has got to be one of the more obnoxious woody fragrances I have ever tried. Bare in mind, it does not smell bad, IMO. It is just so heavy handed, that it lacks a very necessary openness. Very dark and overbearing, to the point of nauseating. I washed my wrists, to no avail. It just kept going... After the nose punch subsides, the smell itself feels like a very old world, liquor cabinet made of expensive woods, placed in a dungeon. A very evocative scent, but not my cup of tea, or in this case cognac. When it comes to woody + boozy scents, Smokin' G@n is much more balanced, and enjoyable,

Sex & cognac is a really strong and boozy fragrance, i could smell the cognac and woody vibes of this perfume all night, however on me it tends to get bitter and not really nice i like the idea of this fragrance unfortunately on me it doesn’t work. If you like really strong woody and boozy perfumes this one is for you but i strongly suggest to get a sample before purchasing! Overall: 4/10

Cognac, leather, a little bit of tobacco maybe? These are definitely for a man, it’s a woody and intense smell but nothing about it says “sex” really, I must say I didn’t enjoy wearing it at all

A bit too much for me, and couldn't even scrub it off my skin. If you want something super woody and heavy that doesn't leave your skin, buy this.

This turned into woody B.O. in about 4 minutes in. There is no sweet cognac in this anywhere, it almost opens with a burnt coffee smell.

Wowzers...okay. When I’ve sampled animalic fragrances that are well-blended, I’ve at least appreciated the complexity even if it’s not my vibe; and at most thought the accords added a nuanced layer that made the scent really clever and sexy...the olfactory equivalent of umami. This one definitely told a story...albeit an unpleasant one. First, it gave me fresh urine and cognac. Next, dried urine on a leather couch. And, finally, peed-stained leather after someone tried to revive it with powder-scented cleaner. All that said: if you usually like these notes, order a sample. It may hit way different for you. I hope it does...and that no one calls you Ol’ PeePee McCouchleathers behind your back.

This is the most disgusting fragrance I have ever smelt. I can smell a fragrance that is not my style while still appreciating the skill of the perfumer or understanding how others with a different palette or aesthetic could enjoy it. However Sex and Cognac can not be appreciated at any level. Ascerbic, weird spicy, fly spray assault to my senses. Tried twice to be sure and then threw the decant in the rubbish. Definitely not a blind buy.

Blind buy, first impression. On me, it's a 95% wood fragrance. I spray it on I get a syrupy cognac for about three seconds before the papyrus hit's me in the nose. It's laced with a bit of saffron in the higher frequencies for the first hour. In the second hour a touch of leather replaces the saffron, but again it's still about 95% a dry papyrus wood. In the 3rd hour it evens out to 50/50 papyrus/oud pure wood combo. The oud isn't stanky, but a bit mossy. And that's the way it stays for the next 4-5 hours until it dies off. Good performance. Longevity is very nice. It's very well done. Just not my thing. Too woody for my tastes. I like wood in my fragrances but accompanied with a dose of vanilla, spices, and/or citruses. I might try layering with Ani or Herod. If you like very woody scents, I doubt it'll disappoint.

When I first spray this, it is all booze. Good cognac. I love that part of it, but I would struggle with where to wear this other than to bed given my lifestyle. It is not exactly something that I would want to wear to work. The oud is clean to my nose. Nothing challenging for me, but I am a fan of scents that are deeper, darker. It is a well done boozy, woody scent. Longevity is better on clothing than skin for me and even then I can’t smell it after 5 hours unless my nose is in my shirt. Not an issue for me usually, but it might be for some given the price.

I completely agree with one review below that says the biggest note should be papyrus. It's dry wood, like a dry sauna, but burning, exploding. It is so smoky and woody for almost the entire long duration it stays on my skin. There's a little bit of cognac in the first few seconds, but that's about it. And definitely nothing in this that reminds me of sex or sexes in anyway. What a misleading name for a perfume that is all about smoke and wood, with a little bit of sweetness thrown in.

Saffronic Lothian oud.. This one is more bitter than sweet blend. Rough woody oudi blend with a dark sharp knife like oud with the help of papyrus. So far this is my favorite blend beside "Unholy Oud". Incredibly beautiful, & it reminds me allot of "Immortelle Corse" by Parfum d'Empire.

Wish i liked it..... imagining dropping the name of this fragrance while being flirted with and asked about it.... Would be like having an invisible hype man... unfortunately it’s not quite my taste

On me it smells exactly like Chicago High by Vilhelm Parfumerie but lasts a fraction of the time. Disappointing
