Cologne de Feu

An immediate love. Beautiful citrus/fruit notes accompanied by some very creamy woods. Not screechy like some citrus-heavy fragrances can get.

Grapefruit with other stuff going on. Nice Summer wear, just wear and simply take it easy. Love it.

Cologne de Feu is my favourite of the three new 2022 releases from Bortnikoff and is the one I would recommend if you were only to choose one. A very unique and interesting citrus cologne. The opening is bright and bitter. It quickly transitions into a sweet and fruity heart, before settling into a woody base. Whilst still only moderate, the longevity is stronger than the other two fragrances (from the 2022 releases). Projection is moderate for an hour or so. Definitely worth considering but Amber Cologne remains the best of the Bortnikoff cologne range in my view.

Citrus laden floral fruity chypre designed as an inspiration to emotions that arouse fire. The opening is a whos who of lovely natural citrus notes. The perfume starts settling into a heart of jasmine, raspberry, peach and tea. Upon complete settling, we get a powdery oakmoss with hints of cedar, sandalwood and guaiac. The unisex scent has moderate sillage and good longevity. Lush and inviting. Enjoy!

I see why this is called Cologne de Feu but I'm not a fan of overly acidic citruses like this. Cologne de Feu opens up with nothing but nose piercingly acidic citruses, like the equivalent of squeezing a bitter lemon straight into your mouth. This acidity is so predominant I can't detect anything else for about an hour or so, which is when said acidity mellows down and allows other notes to come through. A slightly sweet orangey note starts to take shape and, unlike Musk Cologne yesterday, it does resemble tangerine somewhat realistically. Some time later a herbaceous tea-like note comes out to support the tangerine, and it's at this point Cologne de Feu strangely reminds me of Ormonde Jayne's Montabaco Intensivo and Verano for some reason. I like the dry down but the opening is too much for me. This wasn't the only fragrance I wore today so I can't speak on projection and sillage accurately, but this seemed to behave just like Musk Cologne and Oud Cologne. Longevity is 6 hours in total.

Sugared pink grapefruit, white musk, jammy rose, grassy 'lily of the valley' accord and ylang creaminess. Complex but immensely refreshing scent. The only word I can think of when describing the grapefruit is effervescent. The supporting green profile works wonders here as well. One thing bothering me is the thick cloud of slightly powdery facets, a bit headache inducing when smelt too close for too long. Depending on its performance this could be a summer staple.

This one reminds me of Guerlain L'Homme Ideal Cologne in that it has a similar durable grapefruit note that permeates the entire drydown arc (5 hours), which is remarkable given how fleeting citrus notes typically are. There's also a rich blood orange in there that adds sweetness. Cologne de Feu is basically a citrus-forward fruity-floral, with notable accents of raspberry, rose, a hint of woods, and a mossy base. Simple but clever, and in my opinion, quite nice.

Had to try bortnikoffs new colognes. I knew i wouldn't want full bottles as colognes are a bit boring, and this one is in the middle of the other 2, boring citrus with something that smells like a feminine fabric softener

Great stuff! At first spray, I can pick out an immediate flesh of guava/passionfruit (not sure why) and then it turns into a pine/citrus fragrance that reminds me of pineward's white fir!!

Blast of natural juicy citrus with some herbal quality and fruity undertone. It's a winner under the right occasions. IG: eatandsmellgood

Like walking through a damp mossy forest that has some mysterious citrus plants growing. On the fence with this one, but it is unique.
