Coup de Foudre

Complexity and "love at first sight" This starts with a rush of juicy, sweet orange that is quickly followed by the rest of a citrus fruit salad. In comes a bold onslaught of different tropical florals...tuberose seemed to be dominant on my skin. Much like VN, a trat oud was well incorporated into the florals and works perfectly with them. More sweet and nectared than indolic. The rose seems independent and pops in and out of the body, as does a nice note of pine. A spicy combo of black pepper, carnation, and green tea push and pull with the florals and oud for a good while. A beautiful sandal hangs on towards the end of the body and into the end of the wear. a more subdued spiciness from cinnamon and turmeric lead the conclusion with a distant vanilla, benzoin and balsams Super complex stuff and exactly the kind of composition to really interest me. I'm surprised because there isn't a hint of animalics, and I still found this to be a love from the get-go.

I would imagine that if our noses were still trained for beautiful, screw you fragrances like Opium, that only cared about entrapping the user in a whirlwind of resins, smoke, and spices forming thorns amongst her, we could wear Coup de Foudre to the club. Instead of a prickly, burning orange and red flames, we get a spider web of sticky resins, with flowers and spices to entice. It's so gorgeous and inviting, but dark. Not deathly, more like hiding with a lover from the sun, darkness subdued but sweet, almost cuddly. Where Opium was a seductress and a quick stiletto to the heart, Coup de Foudre is saving you for dinners upon dinners, savoring each kiss or bite.

'Tropicana exotica' indeed. The cinnamon and tumeric really sizzle underneath everything giving it an ongoing spiciness. This spiciness is very enjoyable. Everything else lightly floats on top, and the opening 20 minutes really see the citruses shine. The citrus is nice and succulent as opposed to harsh and piercing. This isn't my favourite Bortnikoff, but full points for being interesting and unique. Previous comments by Q80 and SydnorIII sum it up nicely.

A glorious kitchen-sink of joy, with the familiar Bortnikoff real sandalwood and a spicier twist than in most of their perfumes. Notes that stand out to me more than others are champaca, turmeric, rose, tea and tuberose alongside the sandalwood. The oud provides that chewy, fruity wood feel. I love this stuff so much. Also, I 100% smell the Bortnikoff moss in the far drydown, although it's not listed.

My goodness this is beautiful. Good thing Luckyscent is out of this or else I would be tempted to buy another perfume. My review won’t do it justice, it’s hard to even begin describing it as others do a much better job. Champaca and citrus with Oud and Guaiac Wood. So fucking incredible.

Muzzbait below describes this perfectly! I placed the cologne version of this on my maybe list.... but this big brother is on my must have shelf for sure! Love it! Edit: got a FB... and LOVE THIS from opening through dry down!!!!!!!

Sophisticated champaka smells, reminded me of my granny’s backyard with old wooden furniture and cuckoo clock. Asian cottagecore girls wear this thing, sadly it doesnt last that long

Absolute must have perfume. What a beautiful perfume by Bortnikoff . One of the best from this perfumer.

A citrus oud with sweet orange floral. It's a blend of tropicana exotica. Allot of citrus mix blended with slightly oud and garwood then mashed in with roses of exotic floral of champaca, ylang, & jasmines and I dont detect tuberose. The elemi, and balsamic notes are quite visible as i see the balsamic note is the conquered note and not the elemi. Pine tree, and sandalwood are there as well. Amusement in a bottle. Sour woody oudi blend that conquered my senses. Beautiful.

Received a sample. This one didn't do anything on my skin. I didn't get citrus too much. More floral, darker floral, but one I don't see myself wearing. Projection weak. I love this house but this one is not one for me.

this is beautiful floral scent with little bits of resin, woods and stank lurking beneath. expertly mixed and levelled; warrants a subsequent try-out, for sure! A buttery, white floral with citrus and warm, balsamic resins...this is certainly something different. It kinda reminds me in a way of L'Heure Exquise in that the champaca is moulded and shaped in a way which its major notes are transfigured to the point where it doesn't feel like it's champaca anymore... At times the champaca is too dominant, and for that, it's hard for me to LOVE it, but i really REALLY like it... Expertly mixed and levelled. Marvellous...

2nd favorite in the line behind Bonheur although all the forums and youtube videos tend to rave about this one. I really like the initial top notes, and the dry down after 30minutes. However, that 5 minute to 20minute market there's a funky urine-note I have to sit through which is just not my cup of tea. Bonheur has a less stellar opening but the heart and base notes are far more enjoyable in my opinion.

This is a flower and oud bomb. That's it. I did not get anything else. Smell it close up and its of putting. However let little wisps come up and tickle your nose coyly and its very pleasant. Feminine fragrance not even close to unisex. As such this would smell great on a lady. I can imagine leaning in for a second whiff ....

To me: The opening is very pleasant with the citruses and the yellow florals. The drydown is quite similar to Fort and Manle's Amber Absolutely. Performance is better than the Fort and Manle, as expected. Quality is top notch. Opening is pretty unique to my nose at least. Solid 8/10

A citrusy floral opening with balsamic aspects. A very delightful fragrance in contrast to their heavier offerings. Eventually drying down to a sweet and ambery fragrance which is accompanied by some spice. 7/10
