Sir Winston

In the beginning it is really sweet sticky bubble gummy, similar to Vetiver Nocturne Ab., as both share that awesome tuberose note, but here we have some green tea also which makes it really edible (or drinkable :) ). Anyway, later the sweetness fades a bit, the tobacco also shows itself together with the beautiful ambergris known from Amber Cologne. Of course while in AC its much lighter, here we have a dryer kind of ambergris due to the tobacco and oud. Overall, its a really nice fragrance suitable for fall/winter. You can wear it day or night, I think its pretty easy to like if it will be noticed, as the longevity is not the best. Due to the tobacco note it is more masculine for me, but anyone can wear it. I don't especially like sweeter fragrances, but this one is really nice, fbw for me. Recommended!

With such a name, one would expect smokey boozy beast, while reality could not be any further. It is very floral, with strong ambergris note. Bortnikoff puts the real stuff in and also does not make any compromises. It is certainly a niche product for connoisseurs. I could not decide if I like it or not. Then I slept on it and once I woke up, I was introduced to one of the most amazing dry-downs ever - all of the sudden the most beautiful smooth oud appeared (not detectable before) covered in subtle veil of vanilla and wet stone smell of ambergris. Real experience! If only it was there from the start. I’m afraid the rest of the fragrance does not excite me enough to be willing to invest in the full bottle, but if you can learn to love unisex floral opening, you will certainly be rewarded!

A good chance to see what ambergris does to a fragrance. If you are familiar with tuberose you can really get a good idea of how ambergris adds perfection to the note. Amplification that lighten the air, instead of the usual pairing of iso e super. The notes are going to throw a lot of people off, this is not a tobacco fragrance, more the tobacco flower and aromatics heavy of green tea and tuberose. The only knowledge I had of this was tobacco vanilla (WHICH IT IS NOT) This sample was given to me and as soon as I put it on I smelled ambergris. FInally checked and indeed it was listed, it is a very, very good ambergris. It is sweet and pretty, which might also get lost in the name. A superb fragrance, but you need to know what your getting into.

1 hour into the wear, having cycled 5km too, and all I get is HUGE tuberose from the beggining onward. It's not a problem, as it smells good, but I can't perceive any of the other notes. I guess it does seem like a tuberose-forward version of Portrayal Woman, so perhaps I can smell the vanilla and a suggestion of tobacco but I really have to squint. ... Hours in, oh my god it's L'interdit! I can never un-realise that now. OK yes it smells less synthetic but it's essentially L'interdit EDP.

Animalic white floral... This got to have "Lao Oud" in it somehow! i can hintly sense this kind of oud within! It's indolic animalic floral! I can sense "Indolis" by Areej Le Dore in this blend with its indolic jasmines, tuberose, bitter green tea, touch of tobacco, and Laos oud. This blend is insatiably beautiful with its rancid floral that puts it in an animalic state mixed with Laos oud. Excellently beautiful indeed.

A very pleasant green, flowery beauty. The quality of the natural ingredients really shine through. Moderate projection and definitely won't offend anyone. I can see this worn as a signature scent, day or night, office or casual. Very versatile. Another excellent creation from Dimitri. The tuberose is well balanced in that it doesn't dominate the scent but is always in the background.

It's got burnt orange walls, the olfactory heirlooms framed by a thin layer of dust; vintage floral perfumes from fifty years ago, the glass misty and faded. Tobacco smoke accents the velvet sleepgowns she gifts to you, wafts of a life well-lived.

I have the Attar version of Sir Winston, open with a blast of vegetal fresh tea note along with camphor and minty type Oud, and damped tobacco leaves in the dry down. This attar has below average longevity of about 4 to 5hr with 4 swipes, the scent profile isn't my favorite from this house.

Really enjoy this scent. Reminded my wife of cake batter. Certainly a “yummy” scent, but wifey poo suggests it leans more feminine. So I’ll pass and put this on her shelf. I might get the attar version.” For myself, we’ll see. Love Bortnikoff.”!

Animalic, salty tuberose with damp, sweet, woody tobacco/oud and sweet tea nuances. You need to like ambergris to enjoy this one, which I very much do. Very unique, feminine, and intoxicating. An instant love.

Does anyone have experience with both the older and newer bottles? How big is the difference? Since Bortnikoff started trying to go more mainstream, I'm a little scared to buy the new bottles.

This smells just like Bubble Yum bubble gum, for those in the states, on my skin at the top. That very sweet, very recognizable scent when you first open a pack of gum (similar smell to the gum in baseball card packs from the 80s/early 90s). It's very floral on the top, with maybe some tobacco hanging around. It's not a heavy, dominant tobacco like in a Herod. More like a lighter take on it. In fact, the whole scent is a bit light and unisex, to my nose. When I think Winston Churchill and tobacco, this is definitely NOT the scent I'd associate with that image. I get tuberose (heaviest note, by far), ambergris, vanilla as the dominant players here. Tobacco is a background note to me. Most voted this as a fall/winter scent but to me it feels like a spring/summer nights scent. That said, it's a very pleasant scent that does remind me of my youth. It's masterfully blended, a bit linear though, and has longevity on my skin of 5-7 hours with moderate projection. A 7.5/10 for me. Not a huge love, but nicely blended and something I'll finish a sample of. Not a full bottle purchase, though. The wife thought it was just "nice but nothing special." Can't win em all.

An interesting Floriental centered around a dense tuberose this is one of the more unisex interpretations of the heavy white floral I have seen. The perfume opens with a brief tea note before proceeding to the tuberose and ambergris. The perfume settles on a powdery vanilla surrounded by Hindi Oud and tobacco. The perfume is interesting but not overtly exciting as the natural strong tuberose note dominates from start to finish. The more subtle tea note is completely dwarfed. Overall still very interesting because of high quality natural notes with moderate to strong sillage and projection and good longevity. Enjoy!

I really like this. Not enough to buy a full bottle at current extrait prices but I really love the massive ambergris that shines through the tea/Tuberose combo in the beginning. The tobacco is extremely abstract, perhaps like an unlit cigar of a certain vintage or unburnt floral/cherry pipe tobacco. Obviously people were thinking Winston Churchill at night: booze and smoke. But this is more dandified. Afternoon tea and pressed shirts, a bathroom attendant with a floral spritz at the ready. I can see why some people may not like it but I do! Certainly interesting. Nothing else smells like this one. Nice!

Delectable green tea, tuberose and tobacco combo, with a touch of real oud. Animalic in that there’s some want of refinement. The oud note overtakes the tobacco which seems unfortunate to me. I’d like that note to tame the composition. The green tea has a critic undertone which I enjoy, but an authentic ambergris more or less overtakes that and the scent becomes like bubbly and semi-sweet. As the notes alternate, sometimes I’m smelling an interesting and deep masculine leaning cologne that becomes imbalanced and smells like a turd, but then regains its composure and changes a little bit. 💩 Quite good. 🥴

Without examine the notes, I perceived it as a BIG natural honey scent similar to Slowdive (what happened to the advertised ambergris, tobacco, and oud?) I must say, the collective result is quite a pleasant surprise because I really didn't know how it was going to be dark & gritty yet fresh & sweet. Whatever you call this, the opening stage is to die for; unfortunately the GLORIOUS white-gold tuberose turns into a green nobody towards the mid-end.

This is an amazing tobacco scent. For reference, my favorite tobacco scents are the ones by Diptyque and Atelier Cologne. I agree, that is leans slightly more animalic and more musky than other tobacoo-based scents. It's way more intense than the Tom Ford's versions. It's very complicated and intense, and definitely masculine. I barely smell any oud though.

The tuberose and green tea are strong for me. The tobacco and oud are there, but in the background and not the main take aways. The oud reminds me of a small barn with some fresh fertilizer just put down. It dries down and fades a bit to give way to the white floral notes. It's a complex fragrance that has a little depth to appreciate and enjoy.

OMG this is sooo intriguing! seriously weird, intriguing and like nothing i've ever smelt before! The tea is interacting with the ambergris and creating this WEIRD cornflakes-cardbroad accord. it is like nothing i have EVER experienced before! it feels more like art than perfume, to tell you the truth...

Creamy soft palatable tuberose with this hint of sweet green tea. Its got a vanillic edge to this. Creamy and warm overall. Very classy smelling. Feels attention grabbing, but without anything to cause upset to anyone. Has a huggable feel to it.

Sweet perfume, more for women. A little bit too sweet for me

Sir Winston is simply hideous. Right off the 1st spray; barnyard assault with a roll of something very musty, dankly sweet yet bold with no remorse. Really set the scene; of misery and really if anything, just plain incompetence. Let me just say putting it at it's nicest that this scent is, 'daring'. It's that ''Edgy funky-animalic sweet'' that is a pretentious post-modern patchouli/barnyard wrapped in thick clads of hay that has been drenched with horse urine mixed with tonka beans and baby powder. It's like a Roja fragrance but gone terribly wrong: literally like someone dunked a vat of urine on say, Roja's Reckless. If that even is a vagueness of a reference. Easily the most outrageous scent I've tried since Dior's Leather Oud and Musc Ravageur (outside dedicated animalics of course). I have no idea how anyone could get ''florals and tobacco'' out of this? Lol! TF's Tobacco Vanille is literally a floral tobacco. This is the polar opposite of that cosy blonde tobacco sweetness. What's worse is it's not even 'bad for bad's sake'. It actually tries to think it's 'something'; that it has character. Xerjoff's More than Words is a scent I really dislike but at least *that has character in it's gello frutti oud/rose. It has a clear path and identity. And it's not even an inde: it's found at Harrods An awful 1st impression of the Hose by me, and I can disclose that unfortunately it doesn't really get much better with the other fragrances from this House. I'll file this house in to ''to shred'' folder. I don't do 'Best/Worst' lists but this one would certainly be one of the worst I've ever tried, and there's a million of those lol. Phew! My rating: 1/10.

Had a sample of Sir Winston, which I absolutely fell in love with, so I decided to get the attar of it. The EDP sample I had smelled very bubble gummy and quite sweet in the opening. Maybe not the most masculine smell there is, but certainly oh so addicting to sniff at. The sweet bubble gum however subsided rather quickly in the dry down, leaving you with a tobacco leaf smell similar to Tabac D'ore, but sweeter and maybe a bit more floral. I thought very underrated and addictive smell. The attar however, is surprisingly different. At least in the opening that is. I can't actually detect the same sweet bubble gum smell that was very prominent in the sample. Instead the white florals come through clearer as such, paired with some overripe apples or pears. In the dry down it turns similar to the EDP in that it becomes a sweeter tobacco scent with a bit of florals, oud and maybe a bit of pepper. Overall, highly recommended if you like sweeter but realistic tobacco smells. And I still like the attar, but I think I'd prefer the EDP over it in this case.

A heavy hit of oud is followed by a burst of tuberose that dries down to an alluring sweet floral. As expected from a Bortnikoff, it is a uniquely crafted and twisted dance of danger and allure. nice projection and 8 hours of longevity. A lonely cow pattie in the middle of a vast flat green pasture. Suddenly from the center the most gorgeous white flower blooms into full blown life. As the day wears on the petals mellow and the ends take on a soft patina. The afternoon wind gently engages the grass in a seductive dance. Together they make beautiful music.

Maybe I was expecting more but where’s the Oud? Maybe it’s the bouya that was used but it’s really not my cup of tea. It stays pretty linear and for the price you need to really love this. It’s mainly a vintage’esque tuberose and tea bomb the tobacco is there but it doesn’t smell that great to me. I grew up around my family’s tobacco farm in Kentucky so I’m no stranger to the scent of fresh tobacco. The ambergris is weak so what your left with is mostly tuberose. Overall I give it a 5/10

Opens up with an incredibly cheesy fermentation note, nothing like the tuberose heavy attar that I've tried. Settles within 5 minutes and left is a very 'wet' tobacco with powdery tuberose, anise, yerba mate and oakmoss being in the background. Not at all how I remember it but even though the opening is horrid I very much prefer it to the attar version because that one wasn't even about the tobacco to my nose, whereas in this the tobacco is very prevalent.

All about the ambergris. Shy green tea note followed by an ambergris-tuberose bomb that doesn't turn me off. Good supportive oud, and a wee of tobacco blossom. Definitely not a tobacco scent as it is an oud scent. The vanilla definitely gets lost in the crowd. Very good, somewhat linear. Plenty of wonderful things could have been done with this formula. I'm starting to suspect that Bortnikoff could be better used as layering tools, but the price tho.

floral oud tobacco mix, even though this has tuberose, i find hugo boss bottled oud aromatic to be similar to this, that one has orange blossom, the powdery thick florals and oud are very similar to my nose. this one is less animalic and more gentle, but the price difference between this and Boss are huge. this is also in the same family as fleur du male for me from Jean Paul Gaultier. lovely creation, but not for all, great cold weather fragrance

Not a fan. The tuberose goes bubblegum on my skin and I get a bit of unpleasant funk from somewhere - the ambergris? I love strong ambergris (I own the Anonim set) but something here just doesn't work. I don't get much tobacco or tea. Just headache inducing, cloying tuberose and an off-note. This is my least favorite perfume that I've tried from the usually wonderful Bortnikoff. Like its namesake, this one is terrible.

The initial top note has a funk than there is tuberose and vanilla. I layer Sir Winston with War&Peace by arrej le dore than the tobacco note becomes an alive delicious scent that I was unable to stop sniffing my hand.

Sorry, this is just not for me. I really cannot get over the massive Tuberose note. Maybe it’s just me, but this is elderly female perfume smelling to me. It was the easiest NO I’ve ever said.

Kind of fresh in the opening, very powdery in the mid, and a very nice vanilla in the dry down. Nice scent overall
