Velvet Steps

This was one of my favorites from the BV Alta discovery set. I don't have a ton of experience with this type of fragrance so didn't have much of an expectation going in but to my nose its striking me as a really well-blended smooth, dark, rich, slightly sweet plum fragrance. Could see this being great for date night or an evening out. Not sure if it's FB worthy but going to wear it a bit and see if it grows on me some more. Solid overall though.

I don't understand the play-doh comment, nothing like that. The labdanum is quite prominent to my nose, leathery & ambery. I cannot detect the plum unfortunately.

I wanted to love this, but the plum note is nowhere to be found. Maybe there's the faintest suggestion of it somewhere after the first hour of incense and, tragically to my nose, play-doh? My most disappointing blind buy! I should know better, but I love plum and was hopeful. The bottle is beautiful and there is a soft cloud of frankincense and myrrh, but it overwhelmingly smells like play-doh to me. Would love to hear what others are smelling, as I still want to sample the rest of the line, though I'll be waiting for reviews or the disco set. I'm fairly sure there is some synthetic molecule out there that I'm especially sensitive to, that translates as play-doh, so others may have better luck. Scent: 4/10 Sillage: 7/10 Longevity: 7/10 Bottle: 8/10 For reference, I love the myrrh in Jo Malone's Myrrh and Tonka and in Tom Ford's Myrrh Mysterre. I also love the plum in Byredo's Vanille Antique and Serviette's Priscus.

OMG so so stunning ! awww I'm so impressed ! So beautiful , i had no expectation and i'm so pleasently suprised. Is exquisitely elegant and unisex, airy and elevated. This collection is so remarkable!
