Jaipur Homme

(Comparison of Jaipur EdT (referred to as “Femme” below), Jaipur Homme EdT, and Jaipur Homme EdP, all pre-2000s.) This probably seems quite silly to you. Why would I compare a 90s women’s perfume and two different concentrations of the men’s version? Isn’t that like comparing an apple to an orange? Yes it is, and I think Sophia Grojsman would appreciate the simile. Annick Menardo might not, but no matter. Grojsman, who signed Jaipur (pour Femme), has always had a talent for putting colors in her perfumes. You smell a Grojsman composition and you see the spectrum(s) of the full rainbow she’s wanting you to see. Yellows, purples, and blues open the perfume in the form of pineapple, plums, watery blueberries, and peaches. It’s quite a sweet opening, but not cloying, and it falls away quickly to a classic Grojsman floral amalgam at the heart. This section of Jaipur always struck me as very similar to Grojsman’s Paris for YSL. Both perfumes are quite heavy on muguet, rose, and jasmine evocations. The most obvious difference is that Jaipur has a fruitier lean to it compared to Paris’ slightly greener and powdery leaning - otherwise they smell very close, which is to say very beautiful. But then, the fruit notes eventually and slowly depart to leave a powderiness that puts me even more in mind of YSL Paris. It’s a swirl of whites, reds, yellows, greens, and every other color imaginable, like vibrant saris swirling about you in a Holi dance. Meanwhile, on the men’s side of the dance street, the Homme EdP opens with luminous woody spices. Thanks to the bright nuttiness of heliotrope, the cinnamon and nutmeg have a vibrancy and spacious breadth that is fairly uncommon for them since they usually opt for dim lighting and concentrated depth. The amber character of Homme is immediately apparent, as opposed to Femme’s fruity floral. The depth and shadows slowly appear in the form of a very aromatic clove note building underneath. The Homme EdT interestingly works in reverse to the EdP, presenting the clove first with a touch of lime-y bergamot that is absolutely tantalizing and mouthwatering. The cinnamon and nutmeg heart of the EdT is virtually the same as the EdP but made airier and a touch more bitter-powdery vanillic thanks to the latter note rapidly peaking up from the base. The EdT is noticeably greener and perhaps a touch woodier in the heart thanks to violet leaf, making the spices smell as if they are a bit young. The EdP already felt light and energetic, but the EdT goes fully animated and dynamic. Going back to Femme as it arrives at the base, we have a beautiful musk and sandalwood combination that is very gently animalic and gray musky like an old fashioned soap, cooly and sweetly creamy, and lightly woody. There’s now a restraint to the colorful energy that came before; it’s still excitable, but it’s keeping-a-lid-on-it out of decorum. The base of Homme EdP is a coumarin laden swirl of cloves, tonka, and dried herbs that is as airy and vibrant as the perfume was when it started. It’s a gorgeous dry down, the lights dimming without the perfume being allowed to collapse into tired lumpiness, but it is quite heavy; similarly the EdT descends rapidly to a drier, lighter weight, spicy amber full of clove, nutmeg, cardamom, and earthy bitter tonka. In all three of these forms Jaipur is a fantastic perfume. It makes me yearn for the days when perfumes sharing the same name could smell different and yet be completely recognizably related, as opposed to just mildly altered or made heavier with greater concentration. It’s not surprising that Boucheron did this though; they have always had an old-school sensibility to their compositions - never rushing to release them, and making sure they were completely intact and coherent from beginning to end. It took three years for Homme EdT to be released after Femme, and then the Homme EdP wouldn’t come for another year after the EdT. This is unheard of these days, but it shows in that these compositions were well cared for, well thought out with attention to detail being paid. Now, for a reason I’m comparing the three that must come with an admission of sin and sacrilege: in my experience, the best way to wear Jaipur is layered. If you haven’t experienced this yet, do so (even if you never admit it) and find a pinnacle unisex scent. Femme plus Homme EdP is an absolutely stunningly stately and elegant affair, the effortless, large, rich yet airy spices of Homme EdP adding a whole new dimension of regality and class to Grojsman’s colorful fruity floral. And when you don’t want so much luxury (or oppressiveness in heat and humidity), and want to opt for even more energy and levity, Femme plus Homme EdT will work wonders - the Holi dance of Jaipur made ethereal. To look back, yet again to the “good ol days”, the femme and homme compositions of perfumes used to be made to compliment each other. By the time Jaipur Femme and Homme were released this creative direction was largely out of fashion, but Boucheron was quite stubborn in those early years and refused to give up some of the older ways - and that was lucky for us. Look to the original Boucheron and Boucheron Pour Homme releases for yet more examples of appreciable stubbornness. If you were to smell a person couple, one wearing femme and another wearing homme, it was supposed to be a unique and cohesive olfactory experience of exceptional breadth and depth - a true yin and yang, a north magnet and a south magnet seamlessly locking together. These early Boucheron releases from that first decade are masterpieces for good reason, and this Jaipur trio is no exception.

The Hawa Mahal Heart In A Bottle Situated at Badi Choupad, Pink City of Jaipur, Hawa Mahal is also known as "Palace of Breeze" and was built in 1799 by Maharaja Sawai Pratap Singh, the grandson of Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh, who was the founder of Jaipur. It has 953 windows on the outside walls and is made with the red and pink sandstone. The honeycomb-shaped and beautifully carved windows allow the zephyr to blow through the palace and make it a perfect summer palace. Can you fancy a gentle breeze smelling like Jaïpur Homme that caresses you like a lullaby? Yeah, I guess I can. I was lucky enough to find both Jaïpur Homme and Boucheron pour Homme on an online site at a ridiculous price. I had been keeping an eye on them for some time, but I always wavered having never had the opportunity to try them. Years ago I thought it smelled very oldfashioned and I didn't care for them. But in the end, I took them blindly. To begin with, Jaïpur Homme is a spicy oriental cologne that exists in both EDT and EDP concentrations, and today I'm going to review the EDT one. It is a precious little gem, the cap represents a famous Boucheron ring named Boucheron Paris Jaipur Lapis Lazuli Cabachon 18k Gold Ring. It smells dusty, powdery, sweetish spicy, woody, and resinous, though there is no one dominant spice you get but a beautiful mix of them all. The scent is perfect, especially for those who like colognes that are rich in spices. A hidden gem indeed. Not many people know about this masterpiece. The opening is hot and sweet, but not cloying in any means, aspect, or style, with an exciting addition for the leading note cinnamon, you can smell cinnamon powder in this one, which completely spices this jewel fantasy. It greats you with a royal cardamon, plenty of heliotropes, light citrus that last as a blink of an eye, the overall accord is somehow reminiscent of Givenchy PI, neither a clone nor a rip-off, merely sharing the same vibe and opening. Hence, a costly citrus-bergamot opening with cinnamon, nutmeg, and heliotrope playing a remarkable role. The woody accord is gorgeous, regal in every aspect of the word. After the start, the fragrance is a benzoin-centric strong poison, it grows on your skin and gets better and better hour after hour. The dustiness and powderiness are nostalgic of mama's Felce Azzurra talcum powder, for those who were habitual to. One will also find carnation, I believe that in this fragrance is what gives it it's superior qualities. Moist, innocent and sweet, the rose makes up for many other notes rudeness without turning this scent into an opulent Emirate rosy perfume. It goes down to the skin scent territory in about three hours, ain't vanilla cake, yet a vanilla powder maybe thanks to benzoin pairing. The dry-down is warm, sensual and somewhat bitter. It turns to be delightfully powdery and woody with a consistent dose of vanilla, or tonka according to the roaster, that's perfectly balanced and orchestrated to never become overwhelming or even dominant. Very rich, tremendously long-lasting and even a bit loud but masterfully executed. Reminiscent of Ghivency PI, subtle powdery and soft vanilla, Jaïpur Homme brought to my nose that familiar nice powdery, smooth, and the sweet vanilla note of PI, but the similarities ended there. The sophisticated and elegant structure, rich spices with comforting sweet notes and bold projection make Jaïpur Homme perhaps one of the best examples of the male Orientals. But the similarities do not end here, cause Jaïpur Homme has that barbershop fill akin to Brut by Fabergé. Under some aspects, you might be reminded of Habit Rouge and Shalimar by Guerlain, and even Lolita Lempicka Au Masculin. Jaïpur Homme is sharing more than one similarity with the latter. Still, while the first turns to a dominant vanilla dry-down and the second surely exceeds in the gourmand aspect, it is perfectly balanced by the clever use of heliotrope. It has a little of each but is not equal to anyone. Jaïpur Homme is a Fall for the EDT, but I feel that early Spring is also an option, whereas Winter is for the EDP since it is more luxurious and slightly spicer. I wouldn't wear it in the heat since I tent to choose sweet fragrances this time of year (e.g. it's middle Winter now in Italy) and fresh ones in the warmer days. This fragrance can be worn day or evening, and I think it is more suitable for casual wear. This scent is relaxing and suits weekend downtime. Overall, I think if you are someone who considers themselves a nobleman, and you appreciate well-made perfumery and fragrances for men, you should check Jaïpur Homme out. An excellent oriental composition in almost every sense of the word, it's woody without being vexatious, and spicy without muting the other notes. Annick Menardo mastered it, smooth as silk, not regal enough to be a dress-up only fragrance, and too well made to be a strictly casual creation.

Well, instead of an usual review... I had to share stg with you all, cause this is one perfume perception that I appreciate, and it came from Mr Frankiechocolate1 from USA, he revewed Jaïpur Homme LIKE A BOSS, as follows: "Years ago iI walked into Macy's (then Marshall Fields) and gathered my courage to stand in line and ask this extraordinarily exotic Czech women working behind the perfume to help me find a father's day present for myself. She had smooth skin, wore oversized clunky bangles, a form fitting black top and a wide flowing black tulip skirt. Her hair was brilliant white cut short and moussed in little peaks the way a young boy might. Her age was impossible to guess, older than thirty younger than fifty. Who cared? She was sensual beyond belief and for a few moments I got to talk to her. "Please show me something you like," I asked trying to curry favor with the goddess. She paused, pursed her perfectly formed lips and put a finger to them in thought. She went off and came back with something I’d never seen before. That was easy since I know so little about cologne. She came out from behind the counter and drew close enough to violate my personal space. I never complained. Inches from my ear she growled in a low voice with a heavy Czech accent, "Tisss is a maaaaannn's cologne. It is earthy, sensual, exotic." I was made of stone. She sprayed some on her porcelain wrist and caressed the air under my schnoz. My knees grew weak. My eyes crossed, the blood roared in my ears. She moved even closer, Her warm breath enveloped me. Her tongue just millimeters from my wicked hopeful ear which of it’s own volition arched even closer to her parted lips. She took my hand and turned it exposing my wrist. Now unless a Chicago skunk gets the drop on me I never let anyone spray me with anything. She sprayed my wrist and brought it up to my nose with her long slender fingers. Breath tiss she commanded. Do you want it? More than air. More than life I croaked. My English is not so good. I am Czech. She said looking demurely down at her ballerina black slippers. Your accent is devastating I replied. She sold me the gift set with cologne, lotion and maybe something else. She gave me what I’d like to think was a special smile then turned back to the long line of men waiting for her to give them the “Czech Treatment.” I floated off. Each time I spray on Jaipur I think of my first encounter with this amazing cologne, Libby the Perfume girl and smile for the memory. It smells great and will make you feel like a million bucks. You’ll feel like a maaaaaaannnnn. 10/10" Ps. Now don't get me wrong, or do that, anyway for me this recalls... the prince from Walt Disney's Cinderella... song: "A Dream Is a Wish Your Heart Makes" kind of vibe. This is the approach to a perfume, it should be just beautiful and this one is. ...So I give him/it: 10/10 :-)

I'm going to provide a lot of detail here for those looking to find a very early bottle. I'm still using the metal-clad, 3.4oz, EDP, new Tester bottle I purchased around 2003 in a mall with currently about 60% of the juice remaining. I just purchased a tester bottle on Ebay that looks identical, except it has the NY address on the sticker on the bottom of the bottle instead of Paris. They both state all of the fragrance notes in French first, then English on their backs below "TESTER". The glass is frosted all around the edges which is covered up when the metal case is on. Sadly the tester I purchased on Ebay has no metal case as mine has seen previous years of ignorant negligence on my bathroom sink, where I thought all fragrances belonged. It's a bit corroded. Batch code; 3C02 Address on bottom label is "Boucheron Parfums 75002 Paris" not the NY address I see on all others so far. Mine must have been made in 2002, but I can't find any Jaipur batch codes I enter on CheckFresh.com or CheckCosmetic.net. I even emailed Boucheron and they are the first company to refuse to help me identify my batch code in any way. 48 hours, 2 hot showers and 4 fragrances (Royall Muske, Encre Noir Sport, Robert Graham Valour, Penhaligon's Elixir) later, I can still detect Jaipur as the faintest of skin scents now that all else has faded. I can only speak about the performance of the bottle I currently have and sometimes even 2 sprays, close up are too much. It's the most powerful, soft, powdery, spicy oriental I've smelled. I smelled it in someones car in 2003 and became so obsessed that I had to buy it so I could smell it any time I wanted. If you like Givenchy Pi and powerful orientals, I think you will love this.

Romantic Raja (Annick Menardo, 1998) Scentrack; Suzanne Vega - Caramel Did Jaipur, the magnificent Indian Pink City get equally magnificent perfume version? YES... Jaipur Homme is a beautiful hidden, and perfectly cut perfume diamond made by Annick Menardo. Annick Menardo is one of my favorite perfumers. Her every perfume tells a story, and Jaipur is a fairy tale. Almost too good to be true. Jaipur opens up with soft Indian citrus fruits and then cardamom. The sunny Oriental refreshment is soon followed by cinnamon storm with benzoin lightnings. Carnation in the middle gives some serious old school vibe, while rose and jasmine a fragile romantic heart. Tonka and vanilla are both responsible for the almost gourmand sweetness, but never becoming a true gourmand. I also feel the heliotrope which always livens up vanilla heavyweight perfumes. Behind this benzoin wall I sense some apricot and tobacco Southern sweetness. Jaipur shares some similarities with Givenchy Pi, but while Pi is a good scent Jaipur is a great perfume. Additionally, I sense the same benzoin theme shared with Menardo's Body Kouros. At the beginning Jaipur does possess some good old school qualities, associated with wealth and power. Oriental, but very clean (Nivea cream accord!!). Soon, it becomes more personal, gentle and balmy. Beautifully structured from top to base. Like it was covered with virtual star dust. Great idea materialized in Oriental golden drops. Often we look for something great on far more expensive places. No need, while Jaipur is here. In the example of Jaipur, useless is a classic designer / niche dichotomy. The scent created for winter leisure and relaxation. Made for dreamers. Rating: 10/10

My rates about Jaipur EDP goes as follows: - Scent opening 10.0 (heavenly pleasant with splendorous citrus, spicy cardamom and flowers) - Scent Dry Down 10.0 (unforgettable with sweet tonka and cinnamon, balsamic benzoin, hearthy patchouli and woods) - Longevity 9.0 (up to 8~9 hours on my skin, with 2 sprays) - Sillage 8.0 (sillage peeking up to 6 feet, projecting for more than 2 hours) - Versatility 9.0 (quite versatile, expressing itself better in Spring and Fall, at ease in Winter days and in Summer nights) - Usability 8.5 (it's really a "use it almost anywhere" fragrance, but avoid the gym, the seaside or any kind of sweating activities) - Compliments 9.0 (This scent pleases genders. You will smell mysterious, elegant, clean, fresh and maybe sexy for some ladies) - Uniqueness 9.0 (just its flankers and some vibes shared with a couple of more recent Amouage perfumes) - Quality 9.5 (high quality ingredients; beautiful sturdy glass bottle; very good spray) - Presentation 9.0 (Beautiful flask inspired by the famous astronomical garden conceived by Maharaja Jaï Singh II) - Price 9.0 (€ 29 for a 100 ml non tester flask) - Average: 9.09/10.00 between 7 and 8 => above average; between 8 and 9 => recommended; equal or bigger than 9 => don't miss it; Opinion on "Jaipur EDP": One of the most alluring oriental scents available for a very competitive price. An oriental-fougère masterpiece. Certainly the most sophisticated cheapie you could buy, and the classiest "90's style" men cologne. Think of Le Male, Body Kouros, The Dreamer... with an oriental twist, full of quality. For me it's a 10/10, and it's not so much dated to my nose, it gives a nice sense of refinement to the wearer, and I think this could be unisex. I really love the fact that it's multidimensional, just like the pentagon-shaped bottle shows us, with either gourmand, barbershop, creamy or cosy facets... I don't know how the city of Jaipur smells like, but this cologne smells like something a Maharaja from the Middle-Age would wear. Both EDT and EDP are great and last a really long time, but they have some differences, I prefer the EDT, which surrounds me more and lingers better in the air, the EDP sits closer to my skin. Opening : EDT is powdery, slightly spicy with a touch of citrus the EDP opens in a really spicy oriental way, with cinnamon and a lot of nutmeg, at this stage they are quite different to my nose. Mid : really similar, the spiciness in the EDP goes lower and it gets creamier, I begin to get a carnation note in the EDT, which is lighter in its vibe, it gives an "aura", and it lingers more than the EDP, whichs sticks closer. Drydown : they go in a slightly different direction to my nose, the EDT remains creamy and cosy, thanks to the coumarin and benzoin, which a slight spicy note, maybe coming from the carnation. The EDP is more about amber and vanilla, almost gourmand in the far drydown.

Oh, I love it! I blind bought this (but I do remember from a small tester I had 20-30 years ago that I really liked it). I got it in the mail today, and just now sprayed. I instantly love it. It is very classy. And very comfortable. And quite "mild". It does not blow your face off, it is mild and very pleasant. Kind of fresh too. Very different from Joop Homme, which I tested earler today. I can not describe scents, so I guess I will not even try. The experts have to do that. But Jaïpur is quite fresh, but not sporty, and not fresh-fresh but have a freshness, if you understand? Not very sweet. Not very woody. It is not dirty but clean. It feels very "balanced" in every way. My immediate reaction was "high class good looking young man". It is absolutely just lovely! Not cloying, not pointy and sharp but more toned down. Yes, I like it, nothing more to say. I feel it is suitable for all seasons and all time of the day (I don't at all believe that some scents are best for daytime and some for nighttime, some for winter and some for summer. If they are good, they are good for year round and whatever time of the day. It does not matter). The only negative is that it perhaps it a little too clean and classy and balanced and beautiful. But maybe I'm too used to the rough, strong and very loud arabic scents I have been wearing in the last years.

oh jaipur, why do i love thee? let me count the ways. edp: easy, rich, relaxing, exotic, comforting, solid, fragrant (aha,) old yet young, clean, spicy/floral/resinous. a journey in a bottle. if only the real city of jaipur smelled as good. but, this is an idealized oriental. silk pillow oriental in a mosaic-walled and mirrored chamber. the connoisseur may disdain the obvious play in this scent, it plays to middle brow which makes it lovable and extremely wearable. there is no effort required to feel comfortably male and well groomed. (not to say a woman could not wear it beautifully.) it has an assertiveness without being overpowering. i often read that some complain about a lack of "originality" with some perfumes. not sure what this means. are their noses not able to discern differences in different fragrances? or maybe that a fragrance is a "clone?" if it smells good and works with a person's body chemistry, that would seem to be all that should count. jaipur may not impress anyone as a great leap in a new direction of olfactory art. for this reason, i love it. i don't need to acquire a taste for it. no one will wrestle with getting the concept. it is comfortable and beautiful for me. yes, it is love with a price that will not break the bank, nor your heart.

EDT: Opening is a lovely, almost boozy liqueur aroma with a burst of citruses, spicy cinnamon and clove. The citruses fade out a bit, leaving behind a smooth, powdery, sweet, creamy, soapy cinnamon/clove with some floral touches. I get no patchouli nor cedar but I suppose it’s just blended in there somewhere. The final drydown smells wonderful. This doesn’t really make me think of India but more of Jamaica. There’s some sort of a beachy, tropical vibe to it with the cinnamon and spices and also a mellow, green yet ripe banana/vanilla scent which reminds me of Coppertone sunscreen. Another thing it reminds me of is an Italian pastry, maybe sfogliatella with ingredients of powdered sugar, lemon and cinnamon. Although this probably isn’t considered a gourmand, it comes close to being one for me. Some say it smells like "old man" but I don't agree. Definitely one of the most blissful drydowns I ever smelled. It definitely has that barbershop vibe so I think it's not good for the ladies. You can bury your face in it and huff it all day long without ever getting a headache.

After having this for a couple years and wearing it on and off, my conclusion is that this is really, really good. I didn't care for it at first, though. As I've been wearing it recently in the cold weather, I thought I'd share a few thoughts. I don't get the sweetness that some people talk about. Rather, I think Jaipur Pour Homme has certain aspects that lead you to expect sweetness that never actually arrives. It's inedible, like cinnamon powder or vanilla extract, but almost fools you into thinking it's not. The overall effect is warm but somewhat aloof or discordant, like other perfumes (Lagerfeld Classic) or pieces of music (Barber's Knoxville: Summer of 1915) which I very much admire. I think this is why it had to grow on me, and why I don't wear it all the time. I do think this smells expensive, even opulent. Also, it lasts very well. I can easily pick it up the next day on skin, and on fabric it's detectible for quite a bit longer still. In short, Jaipur Pour Homme is excellent; stately, cozy, with very good performance.

Absurdly good oriental fragrance for men, simply the best ever created. Let me confess something to you, I am crazy about Joop! Homme, another oriental for men, but, wow, this one is in a class of its own. It has nothing of the loudness and arrogance of Joop! Homme. Jaipur pour Homme is smooth as silk, enveloping you with an aura that is hard to replicate - you just won't find a similar fragrance. This is not a powerhouse, there aren't many notes in Jaipur, so you don't get the effect of the fragrance blob, which you wouldn't expect from a house like Boucheron anyway. Yet, there is something powerful in Jaipur, like whispering something profoundly true to someone. As for the notes, there are spices, spices, and more spices in here. And soft flowers, especially carnation. The benzoin does a great job here, I think, somehow rounding the rough edges. Of course, only Annick Menardo would know how to achieve that, so I bow to you, Mrs. Menardo. My infatuation would translate into a score of 10/10

OMG!!!what take me so long to write my review on fragrantica about my most complimented fragrance, to be honest i don't much time to make reviews and checkin' all the perfumes in the page but somehow i do find my self walking through my collection sniffing them and see what they say on fragrantica. Jaipur pour homme edp it was my favorite fragrance until i know about l'instant de guerlain eau extreme which is now my favorite fragrance and it get me the most compliments than any fragrance in my collection. Simply if you want to impress any lady in the room just put this on and go through it. It opens up with a punch of citruses that warmed up with cardamom and cinamon, and when it dries down you will notice the sweetnes coming from tonka beans/benzoin and cedarwood give this a manly backround. Sillage and longevity are incredible 12h+ 10/10 fragrance.

Jaipur Homme has become one of my unexpected favorites. I blind bought the EdP version, not quite sure what to expect. This fragrance has been described as both spicy and fresh, clean and dirty, dated and contemporary... and it lives up to all these adjectives. It truly is a perfectly balanced oriental barbershop, weaving clean citrus aromatics into the spicy-floral base. At first, it's a pure zing of fresh chai that settles down into clean leather and dusty carnation, with lemon-lime flashes throughout. Stellar performance, both in sillage and longevity. Definitely better in cooler weather, good for day and night. While the odor profile is more traditionally masculine, anybody could (and should) rock this scent. Not dated at all, but it would feel a bit incongruous on the under-25 crowd, I think.

I love the scent of Jaipur. The term barbershop scent can be overused, but it is correct to apply it to Jaipur. The edt and edp are very similar and this is one of the very few bottles where it make practically no difference if you buy vintage or modern bottles. You get practically the same juice. It is powdery, creamy, and spicy. It smells like you are receiving the finishing touches of a $50 shave. It will take you back to an earlier decade, but not make you feel dated if you spray appropriately. The only negative aspect of Jaipur is the heavy opening. Be economical on your sprays. Know your perfume here. It would be easy to ruin your experience by spraying too much. Experiment with this on days when you are not leaving home to get the right amount for you to wear to work or for a night out.

(update on earlier review) wearing this again today. Its around 5C and a bit autumn. This is still an amazingly beautiful sexy beast. I love the opening and the spicy drydown. This reminds me a bit of Armani idole but for men. Most openings these days seem synthetic, this just reeks of regal. Maybe i have the BO of a minor Egyptian God, i dont know. I can barely detect any citrusy scents but a very strong gingery cinnamon. I feel great wearing this after a workout, it works for older guys who know they stuff, not teenie boppers who would spray gasoline on themselves if it was in a decent bottle and a Youtuber told them to. But I can definitely smell that amazing exotic jasmine note in this. Bottle is delicious too. The price point is very low given the performance of this particular edt.

Boucheron's Jaipur is simply a brilliant base layering fragrance! Key notes throughout: Powdery, Vanilla, Amber, Talcum/Chalk, Lavender, slight Spicy Cinnamon It smells somewhat like baby powder, but it gives off a clean, put-together, scrubbed persona. I recommend wearing it in hot weather in the summer (even though most people seem to have voted for winter and night) - I feel like it was intended (as the name suggests) to evoke the sense of clean, fresh vanilla powder in the midst of sweltering Indian summer heat. Projection and Sillage: Beastly! Very strong, aura around body; decent sillage trail Longevity: Superb, all day on skin even. Wore it today, and it's still projecting now, from 8am to 5pm as I write this - with just 1 spray to the chest Love it!!

Consistently SHOCKED by how good this is. It's citrusy, powdery, ambery, floral and clean, with absolutely ridiculous sillage and longevity. And the price? A steal. I suspect that at some point more people will discover how immense this is and the demand will cause the price to triple overnight. That, or it will get reformulated and everyone will come on here to moan about bygone days. Yes, this is a masterpiece. I only say that about fragrances like Chanel's Platinum Egoiste and a few others. You are absolutely in that category when you discuss this. Jaipur Homme stands as a loud repudiation of the common notion that only expensive fragrances can be creative, unique, exquisite and well-blended. This fragrance is all of that and more—for 25 bucks.

Very nice. Most splendid. Quite lovely. This is a real treat. From first sniff of the bottle you know you're onto a winner. It opens with a lovely smooth bergamot, sweet and not harsh. Then the delicious cardamom comes through. This blends beautifully with the bergamot. At this point all the floral notes start to kick in; the carnation, rose, and a rich sugary jasmine. And on the subject of sugary, that benzoin, ohhhh so perfect. With the tonka bean - also perfect, so almondy, creamy, sweet vanilla ee (vanillay? No, that's not a word) - holding everything together in the background. This is luxurious, warm, balsamic, fragrance heaven in a bottle. A few dabs to the neck should give you 12 hours of bliss and pretty heavy sillage. Yes, I love it.

Jaipur is sweet, spicy, warm, and rich, but not overpowering. I wouldn't call it amber. To me, amber needs labdanum, which I LOVE. But I still love Jaipur. As others have mentioned, the initial impression is a bit harsh, but it quickly settles into a sophisticated and interesting cinnamon cardamom carnation spiciness on a liquorice sweet base. It's classy, but not boring. Mature, but not outdated. It's currently autumn here, it's cold and grey and I'm wearing Jaipur at the office. Most of my colleagues are working from home. I was sitting outside having coffee and a smoke with the only other person in the building. The perfect setting for this fragrance. She leaned in close and said "You smell so nice. Your boyfriend is lucky". I agree :p

I've wanted to try this for a long time and finally decided to get myself a bottle of the EDT. I'll be purchasing the EDP soon. I love it, soft creamy and spicy fragrance. One spray on the back of my hand lasted a few hours. It's funny how some people are saying it's not for younger people. Well I'm 31, that's not too young but not quite of the "mature" age group just yet but I've liked this type of fragrance forever. Seriously if you like the smell of something then honestly just wear it, why conform to "age scents" I wear the likes of Givenchy Xeryus, VC&A Pour Homme as well as more recent fragrances, couldn't care less if someone doesn't like it or if they think I smell like their Dad, just means their Dad has good taste too.

This is for the EDT. Ive had my bottle for some time now but resisted a review as the scent seems to smell subtly different on each wearing. However, here goes, the scent has definitely grown on me. I prefer this in cooler weather. Jaipur opens with a blast of citrus, this is deceiving as then gets smooth, creamy, slightly powdery oriental. I get carnation and cardamon more than other notes listed but this is well blended, not sure it matters really. Sits quite close to skin with a lovely calming bubble. There is no 'spiciness' or 'carry' as exists in other scents which announce the wearers presence in a loud way, but it does have decent staying power. Unisex, classy and comforting even. Suberb value at under £30 for 100ml. 4/5

I own two bottles, one with frosted glass and the other one is clear glassed new bottle. Both have slight difference in projection and longevity but I LOVE IT. Very creamy , very luxurious very smooth and soft yet elegant masculine fragrance. This is a warm aromatic perfume that drives me crazy every time i wear it. I have been using it for last 5 years and i still cant get enough of it. The notes are very well blended as it starts with cinnamon, tonka bean and patchouli but settles down with Rose, cedar and a hint of lime. Projection, silage and longevity is good. Highly complimented fragrance you want to wear when going out on a date. ONE OF MY ALL TIME FAVORITES.

EDP bought in 2020. Oh. Wow. At first wear it crossed my mind several times that this is it. This is the way a man should smell. A very well blended work of art. This is not "old" in any way so don't even worry about smelling like gramps (or grandma). I personally get no visions of barbershops with this. I do get a extremely rich wonderful best ever handmade artisanal soap feel at some point but then it fades into a majestic spiciness that is deep, erotic and evolving. The wearer will be leaving a wispy trail of mystique... The entire scent profile to me is very natural. Not even a hint of anything synthetic. Smooth from start to finish. Performance is top class.

When I smelled this for the first time, I immediately had a flashback of being 11 years old and watching my dad stand in front of the mirror, reach into the medicine cabinet in the restroom, pull out the TRES FLORES BRILLANTINE pomade, and apply it as he slicked his hair back with his pocket comb. Oh wow WOW! Omg this is only $19?? Wow, this smells really, really good. I can't believe I don't hear more people talking about this. This has dethroned Sean John 3am as the best cheapie, but this is only "cheapie" in the sense of its price. The scent itself is out of it's league for $19 fragrances. I'd pay $100 for this and not think twice. Absolutely BIG BOTTLE BLIND BUY approved! Just wow... Update: I just had to add this one bit for those that take this into consideration. This bottle is absolutely gorgeous! The shape, the contour, the colors...beautiful. It really stands out amongst my many other fragrances.

Epic Journey Into the Bottled Yonder, 146 ------------------------------------------------------- Purchased August 2019 After loving Boucheron Pour Homme EDT I knew there had to be another they make that's worth checking out. And boy am I glad I did that. This EDT is a pure luxury scent. Feel like a tiger in a King's castle just laying about. It's quite addictive I ended up wearing it quite a bit. It's got a snug fitting cap that's barely loosened over the years. Not to mention the texture and strength is contained within an " E D T ". How? Bloody brilliant this, come at me. A super classy, oriental, sexy scent. But more of a "wealthy man in charge" type of sexy, than a seductive jock from the nightclub. It opens with a very strong cinnamon scent and closes with nice spicy-woody notes. Long-lasting, but not too long (the toilette), I'd say about 6-7 hours. In terms of age, I'd say it's perfect for a man above 30, it's a bit too much for a teenager. Definitely a night-time, colder weather scent, not appropriate to use on a very hot day, would be too overwhelming. Overall, I recommend. Used at the perfect setting in terms of weather, time, age - definitely a 10/10.

Any discussion of Boucheron Jaipur Homme need only concern itself with one thing: Context. Specifically, when and where Jaipur is best suited. Take black tie, for example. While every man cuts a dashing figure in a Tuxedo, formal wear at McDonald's is clearly out of place. Likewise with Jaipur—a sumptuous oriental that would feel overdressed for pedestrian activities. Fit for a Sultan, Jaipur conjures up opulence and exotic luxury. It pairs well with silk robes, gold, rubies, Royal palaces... and yes, come to think of it—black-tie! Happy New Year, 2019!

Bonjour.. Via un échantillon .. Parfum très lourd.. très dense , ça sent la bourgeoisie.. presque le luxe. Bien fait, sa puissance ne cesse de grandir au fil des heures. Il ne craint aucun autre parfum, il rivalise sans problème avec les Ted lapidus. Côté ambiance, Pour utiliser une métaphore pas si lointaine, Une sorte de crème nivea édulcorée légèrement alcoolisée. Il est tellement dense que je ne distingue aucune note en particulier... Il tend vers le féminin. Je vais l acheter...c est sûr. 35 euros pour 100 ml ...c est une affaire !!!

It takes a lot for me to break out the keyboard and type a review but for Jaipur it has to be done! Blind bought 100ml cos hey, for 30 bucks what's to lose. Worse case it'll make a nice secret Santa. Hold up Saint Nick! This frag ain't going nowhere! What a beauty. I'm enchanted by the zingy opening swiftly followed by the warm spicy glow of benzoin and cardamom. Can't think of a scent I'd rather be wearing at this time of year in Germany. So glad I found this hidden gem. Don't tell the hipsters about it, k?

Agree this is a masterpiece. Gave it to my father as a gift. He ain't a fragrance fan but was unusually impressed and loves it for special occasions. It is on the mature side but nothing dramatic. Smells dressy and comforting at the same time. This is the very definition of an oriental fougere. Barbershop in a way. Has a warmth to it but also a bit arid and mystical. Has just enough of an exotic flair to be interesting and set it apart but not polarizing. Beautiful bottle. Rating - 9.5/10

A delight, a favorite, and a go-to scent when I just want to dowse myself in luxury. Will replace my diminishing bottle of EDT with an EDP one day; I hear it is even better. Grab some, or better yet, try an inexpensive mini to see if you like it. You can get Jaïpur for a reasonable price and it deserves its well-earned place in the pantheon of distinguished men's colognes. Try Boucheron Pour Homme while you are at it; two nice companion scents, and it is grassier and distinct from J.

I had to grab this fragrance because I'm a big fan of 90$ style fragrances and this one is such a classic sophisticated gentlemen fragrance that deserves all the hype. Sweet citrus opening with cinnamon and I get a sweet soapy clean smell from the dry down and this thing has excellent sillage and longevity with the right amount of powderiness that I love. This is one of the greatest fragrances from the 90$ and I'm in awe of the fact that this fragrance still smells wonderful in 2026.

Boucheron Jaipur Homme (1998) - spicy carnation - This perfume has #annickmenardo ‘s signature throughout the fragrance. Starts with a citrus-Cardamom accord mixed with Cinnamon. Wisps of Incense come into play. It’s main heart is Carnation that lends itself beautifully with the incense-cinnamon accord. Drydown is her signature Tonka-Benzoin-Woody that creates this gourmand, smoky yet radiant sensation. A great value and even better to perfumes 10x it’s price.

Delicious oriental wonder... Sumptuous, elegant, mysterious, sensual, attractive. I don't have enough words to describe this intoxicating smell of cinnamon, tonka and benzoin delicately sprinkled with citrus fruits which bring freshness to this enveloping warmth... To die for! It may be "old school" but in the best sense of the word; a flamboyant prince from the thousand and one nights. I'm a woman and I want it for me ! Often great gems with Boucheron.

This scent is so versatile. Can wear it for work and also for going out Opening topnotes have this rum , sorry distinctively spicy , regal flavour. Not peppery but a wake you up scent. I actually find it a little bland after the novelty wears off but it's still a nice scent. What I do love is during the day, this one really stays on for a while while and the drydown is very very lush, almost floral but somehow not. There is such a good blend here.

Beautiful frag. Very rich. Personally I love the opening--a fast and fresh flash of citrus and aldehydes. Very alluring. Heart is warm with rich jasmine and a classic "carnation" accord. Also slightly animalic. The drydown is benzoin-leaning-towards vanilla. Very edible, very rich, and very sexy. Moderate projection on me. I like it. Not cloying or too loud. Unbeatable value. Sophistication without complication. Broadly appealing. Easy blind buy.

There’s nothing not to like here. With the exception of the performance which is a bit lacking. However, take that with a grain of salt, because I’m comparing it with the EDP which is an absolute beast. The EDT and EDP are nearly identical as far as I can tell, with the former being slightly lighter and perhaps better suited to daytime wear. Either way, this Bad Larry would not go amiss in any man’s collection. An absolute stunner.

A Hidden Gem! It's a very refined oriental scent. It opens up with citrus and it changes with background spicy Cinnamon and Nutmeg then dry down is sweet vanilla. This fragrance is not heavy spicy but it has a well-balanced composition,it smells so good,elegant, classy and sophisticated. It perfect for the fall and winter. I really enjoy it and I love Jaipur Homme Boucheron EDT. Thumbs Up. Rating : 8 /10

Smells like Royalty. I get a strong sense of something animalic, like the finest Mink fur. A genuine masterpiece if there ever was one. In the late dry-down, when that cedar note starts to poke through and the lime, bergamot reappear out of nowhere, it is pure magic. VERY CLASSY, yet easy to wear in all situations. Formal occasion worthy, or just sitting around at home, drinking a beer!!! Amazing.

Boucheron Jaïpur EDT (didn't like edp much) The best affordable manly scent there is, opens with cardamon and citrusses and turns into one of the best tart dry downs i've ever smelled. in the same category of la nuit de l'homme but i like this one better for the distinguish dry down, one of the masterpieces of annick menardo, i just wish it was produced with better quality ingredients.

Testing the EDP today and it was love at first spritz. Such a nostalgic association of going on foreign holidays to Spain when you were a child and someone wearing something like this in the hotel in the evening. Smells fresh, almost minty in places, a gorgeous long lasting oriental that I would say is unisex. A complete bargain for the price and I for one will be buying.

Just received the edp and can hands down say its the beastly fragrance ive waited for. Who would bother purchasing creed aventus for hundreds of £s for it to last 30mins tops when you can get this for £30 and have it last for 8 hours The answer is me Had the edt version a while back and loved that,but this is something different. First of all, it's very powerful. Jaipur is floral, unisex, spicy and memorable. The silage is a complete attention grabber for good or ill. I think this is a love or hate perfume. My wife hates it but I think it has character and memories for me. The memories are from (I think) a woman's perfume back in the 60's. At any rate, it's amazing.

Buy the edp, not the edt. The edp's performance is top notch, 12 hours. I think this will be the classic scent vibe that i wouldn't want to get rid of. It's scrumptious, it's cinnamony, and yes it's powdery, and hence i suspect there's supposed to be some iris as well in the composition. I've got nothing but love for this.

It is a real problem to associate every perfume that has a vaguely powdery nuance with baby powder, after all i feel sorry for those people because they can’t enjoy and or differentiate a large number of masterpieces. Jaipur edt and edp both are masterpieces, but you have to have the nose.

Bought this for my husband a few Christmases ago and I just love it on him. He's a tough guy and very ruggedly handsome so there's just something about him smelling like spicy, cinnamon-y cookies that drives me crazy. Gorgeous scent A+++ I get cookies-gingerbread...with vanilla icing <3
