Tubéreuse De Madras

TROPICAL TUBEROSE with Cool Whip. Opens with a burst of creamy & tropical orange-blossom, passionfruit & ozonic elements from violet leaf, that all deepens into the velvet-y tuberose heart elaborated by milky tropical frangipani and succulent ylang, all resting on a creamy sandalwood & vanilla base. Overall I get a fluffy, whipped-cream tropical tuberose scent that's fairly realistic at the same time, with the other notes serving to enhance different facets of tuberose. This doesn't have the vintage vibe that many tuberose dominant scents have, and comes across as more natural without exaggerating any particular facet of tuberose. Excellent performance, and an easy to wear year round tuberose for those just beginning to appreciate tuberose (like me). It's a love for me. Enjoy! Contrast to White Diamonds Elizabeth Taylor: These are different, but there are similarities to the middle and drydown of White Diamonds, but Tubereuse de Madras doesn't have the intense powdery, aldehydic opening that is in White Diamonds. Contrast to Tubereuse Vertigineuse Molinard: These are different, but there are similarities with creamy tuberose. Tubereuse Vertigineuse has a more forward fizzy "clean" facet, and some strong tuberose absolute (which burns the nose with a direct sniff) amongst other things. Both have excellent performance, but Tuberesue Vertigineuse is beast mode imho. Contrast to Fracas Robert Piguet: These are different, but there are similarities again with the creamy tuberose. Fracas has a much more pronounced vintage vibe and is a lot more powdery to my nose. Both have excellent performance, but Fracas has the tuberose absolute as with Tubereuse Vertigineuse. Contrast to Giorgio Giorgio Beverley Hills: These are different, but once again have a similar creamy tuberose. Giorgio has a vintage vibe and a more forward peachy quality amongst other things. Both have excellent performance. Update 03/11/24: This just keeps getting better! Very tropical tuberose as before, but the orange-blossom, passionfruit & vanilla are showing up more. I also think I'm catching something near a green accord, which might be the cucumber tones of the violet leaf. Love, love, love! 10/10. Update 02/25/25: I love this one a lot. Some reviewers have called it "thin", but I don't find it that way. It's not as loud as some tuberose scents, and doesn't burn the nose up close like some, but for me this is a plus. Creamy, milky, soft, but not aggressive - more cool whip than bubble-gum, so if that's "thin" I'm here for it. Love it.

Tuberose and I are frenemies at best so I had big reservations about picking up a bottle of this offering from Boucheron's exclusive line. But, this line has yet to let me down and I am happy to report that Tubereuse de Madras is a tuberose I can befriend.. easily! To me this has a tropical floral vibe - I get fruity sweetness from the passionfruit, ylang ylang where I can clearly smell the banana like nuances, a lemony frangipani that helps cut through all the fruity sweetness, creamy sandalwood and a dusting of vanilla. Where, do you ask, is the tuberose? In the back ground, supporting all the other notes, at least for me. This is not a note I have trouble identifying however the blend of these notes is so fabulous that I can sense it's presence but it doesn't overwhelm me as it sometimes can. Tuberose can go very wrong for me when it is the prominent note in a fragrance but in combination with other notes I really like, it is a note I enjoy and that's how Tubereuse de Madras reeled me in. The name, which some might say is misleading if they have the same experience as me, is perfect to me because tuberose is the back bone of this fragrance and carries this blend. Definitely one I would recommend you get your noses on.

I was surprised with this one and I got the interesting milky/soy milk/playdoh vibe. Which was interesting and I’ve had in a few amber frags I’ve worn. I don’t generate any fruity notes with this one. No passionfruit. Lots of creamy yellow blossoms alongside the well rounded tuberose (no soap or screechy notes). I feel the ylang stays the longest into the dry down along with the sandalwood and vanilla, on my skin. A light natural sweetness in the mix. Very much enjoying this. Cozy, clean and gentle but very very soft even though I keep getting little wafts of it. It comes up unisex on me. Not too sweet or flowery. I look forward to colder temps and seeing how things smell then. Edit: this is wonderful year round. In winter the ambery aspects are magnified and the creamy tuberose is dense and clean. Still very rich, no soap, no skank very unisex and a rare scent that lasts over 12 hours without over spraying. Love love this one.

This is a beautiful and classy tuberose fragrance, of the green/leafy variety, which I seem to prefer over the too-sweet/bubblegummy interpretations of this flower. The tropical component of tuberose is also emphasised, thanks to the addition of ylang-ylang, frangipani and passion fruit in modest doses, which I like - I mean, tuberose has such a distinct smell that it doesn’t need too many distractions. Fortunately I don’t have any soap/detergent associations with Tubereuse de Madras. As the scent develops, it becomes progressively sweeter, with vanilla gradually overpowering other supporting notes, but never steering this into the bubblegummy territory. All in all, I’d say that this is a fairly safe tuberose; not too strong, not too dense, office-friendly and a safe blind buy. The only downside is that it’s a bit too unoriginal to justify its price.

Revisiting this beauty. I’ve not worn her for a while. She’s airy and creamy and a “perfumey” tuberose. Not a fruity or fleshy sweet tuberose. Instead she’s gauzy and understated. This is grown up tuberose. Ideal for quieter moments, job interviews and moments of comfort. If you’re after a loud gourmand this isn’t your girl - but she’s classic and very feminine. Along with Rose d’Isparta, are my picks from this line. Long lasting. Beautiful sillage and timeless.

It's so beautiful and it's really delicious, milky tuberose. Within three days I discovered two great tuberose perfumes, I haven't smelled so far - Fragile EDT by JPG and this one by Boucheron. I enjoy it even now, when it's 35 C outside. Frangipani and passionfruit gives the summer feeling. All tuberose lovers should try this high quality scent. Update: After 24 hours I really can smell the violet leaf, it's a must try perfume.

Absolutely creamy and delicious tuberose. Mixed with vanilla and passion fruit. I also smell some ylang-ylang. Lasts a very long time on me. To me it is exotic and regal. Tuberose lovers will love this fragrance.

Very feminine creamy tuberose fragrance, reminds me a lot of Micallef ananda black, but smoother and more subtle, very pretty.

It smells very diluted. Like a watered down tuberose, and even that I'm not sure of because it's so faint (but I'll keep calling it that). Maybe I'm going anosmic to it? After spraying it if I try to smell it from the atomizer I smell nothing, but when I smell from the atomizer when not wearing it, I get that very faint smelling watered down tuberose. And to clarify, I say tuberose but I'm really not sure, it doesn't smell like any other tuberose I've tried. But then again I've never smelled a watered down one like this. Almost like tea. At least it sticks to clothes. I just don't know, is it supposed to be this light? I don't really get any of the tropical components either, it is linear from start to finish. Really confused. Maybe the bottle was badly treated? But it should have just been in a warehouse. Projection seems closer to skin but I can't reliably tell. It's so faint that I'm not sure when I am smelling it and when I am not sometimes. -------- Read reviews after typing -------- As I'm reading the reviews I really do find what StellaDiverFlynn says to be my experience as well. Everything they have said is correct. The fragrance does get more creamy and a bit more sweet as it dries down, it doesn't project much (I think?), it does get musky. And also what $kank$mell$ about it being the most non-tuberose, tuberose based scent. It does remind me of soy milk. At least this makes me think that my bottle isn't faulty. Or more people than me had faulty bottles. I am just confused, I don't know what to make of this. It is a pleasant smell yeah, I've just never smelled a tuberose (?) like this so I don't know what to think. But whatever it is, it is calming and nice (like tea like I said) and I'll use up my bottle.

Very similar to lumiere blanche by gres. But is is a bit sharper and the drie down is much more dry powdery where lumiere blanche stays creamy and just gets more musky and sandelwoody. TdM is a lovely, strong creamy tubereuse and great for ppl who don't want any musk in the base. For me it is a bit headachy though. EDIT: this is amazing! I revisited today and I must say I was to quick to discard it. This might be way to much on a hot day, but its lovely in spring! It doden't go dry powdery on me at all today! No headache. But be carefull! This WILL last on you!!!! One spray only! Opening is strong Tubereus, but the creamy kind, not bubbelgumm! The dry down has an ever so slight sandelwood if you realy look for it and avter you to try to wash it of with soap in the hot shower, and then use rubbing alcohole ciz IT IS STILL THERE! I do get the frangipani making it smell like luxary suncreme at the beach. Yes it is a skin scent now, but it still wafts. Unbelivable 😅😅😅 Only downer is the I can't afford it lol...

Tubéreuse de Madras on my skin is mainly a milky tuberose. This once carnal flower is now devoid of camphor, butter, indole or anything animalic in Tubéreuse de Madras. It's so skimmed of fat that it kind of reminds me of soy milk at first, which is a surprising twist during the opening. However, slowly but surely, the creamy sweetness of vanilla permeates every corner of the dry down. Tubéreuse de Madras eventually becomes a generic creamy musky vanilla tuberose until the end. The fragrance mostly stays close to the skin during its 9-hour longevity. Although the soy milk opening phase is quite interesting and the fragrance itself is mostly agreeable, the vanilla white floral dry down feels rather routine and commercial, and eventually falls flat compared to the many great tuberose perfumes before it. Considering its hight price and limited availability, I'm not sure it's special enough to worth the particular effort to track it down.

This is a beautiful white floral & slightly soapy feminine scent based on the tuberose. Suitable for spring and summer, day and night. It's not a new smell for me though. I've smelled it a million times before in feminine scents. I get mainly a dominant combo of tuberose, ylang, strong frangipani, mild orange blossom, delicate ( it doesn't feel dominant but supportive to the other notes) but noticeable vanilla note, creamy sandalwood and faint violet leaf with a semi-watery vibe. I don't get passion fruit. Performance is above the average but the sillage & projection are moderate. At the middle stage when frangipani is at its highest I get vibes from Comptoir Sud Pacifique Aloha Tiare Eau de Parfum but they are NOT similar scents. That Comptoir is a masterpiece compared to this mediocre Boucheron. Boucheron Tubereuse is a pleasant scent with common smell but it should retail half the price. It costs here 272 usd per 125 ml.

I can clearly smell passionfruit and some orange blossom during the first few minutes after application. Afterwards, it quickly becomes a linear tuberose-centric scent with a subtle sandalwood note. The tuberose is the creamy and non-indolic kind that you find in many perfumes. Without the indolic facet, the tuberose is not very close to its natural beauty, but the perfume will most likely also not offend anyone. Overall, the scent is elegant, versatile and easy to like, but not enough to love for devotees of natural smelling renditions, which is also my overall impression of the La Collection line.

have a sample of it. It smells exactly like real tuberose — not creamy tuberose, not vintage tuberose, but the actual flower with its green stem. Very natural. Orange blossom, vanilla, and frangipani are blended in beautifully. It’s sweet and floral, really highlighting the natural scent of tuberose. Powdery fruit-forward white florals dominated by tuberose. The reviews citing 'sheer' are right, it's like the lingering sillage of a stronger tropical white floral perfume captured in a bottle. Perfect for warm weather, spring and summer. Sits at arms length on my skin.

A linear bright, sunny, fun tuberose. Ideal for spring, can also be a summer choice. I grew up w a lot of tuberoses being grown in the garden and this is the closest to that natural scent to me.

I was influenced by the reviews to blind buy a bottle of this two years ago from Fragrancenet on my continuing quest to try as many tuberose scents as I can get my hands on, but I wound up returning it. I'm confused now by all the reviews that found this performs well because on me I found it too diluted and light to be enjoyable. LSAUG described it as flat, and I couldn't agree with her more, which is a total headscratcher since it has so many notes I love. But I have many fragrances with similar note profiles that are much more exciting and perform much better than this. Personally, I find it lacks distinction. I like my white florals to have a little pizazz with something that makes them stand out. I wasn't getting that here. Overall, very blah. Another perfume that immediately came to mind was Symbol by Princess Marina de Bourbon. It has that little extra something that is lacking here. It's also 1/3rd the price; is more complex and sparkling by comparison; and at least I can easily smell it to enjoy it. I wish I could have said the same about this scent.

This perfume reminds me a bit of Michael Korrs Sheer. It has that same kind of hairspray smell in the beginning that can turn you off but if you wait it will go away. A very tropical white floral. I'm not getting any of the passionfruit just tropical florals. Ideal for summer. It's nice but I have better in my collection. It is a bit watered down as it goes along. This perfume needs something to make it pop. It is a little dull. Just a meh for me.

It does need a few weeks after you first spray to come to its full potential. This is a rare miss for me in this line, way too tropical. I love tuberose, but I have a Guerlain that fills the need for this type and I love it much more. If you like tropical tuberose you might like, but I'd make sure you can return because it's blind buy risky imho. Good quality, though.

I'm perplexed. The notes would lead me to believe that this would be a thick and dense tropical tuberose. It's anything but that. I agree with the reviewers below who said that this seems watered down and thin. That is exactly what I smell here. If you're looking for a voluptuous tuberose, fleshy, tropical, you may want to look elsewhere because this is not it. It smells like soapy hairspray. Not a fan. Thank heavens for samples bc this would've been an expensive blind but fail!

Disappointing. Imagery: shoes that are too tight. This is just uncomfortable. As another reviewer noted, Boucheron Tuberose de Madras smells like detergent. A synthetic, sickly sweet floral, with nothing natural or distinct, Tuberose de Madras smells cheap. I can’t detect ylang or frangipani. And I can’t wait to wash it off. If you love realistic tuberose scents, there are dozens that do it better.

My honest opinion is that Tubéreuse De Madras smells generic, and unexpectedly to me, detergent-smell perfume. I personally do not get any Tuberose or anything else distinctly. That was my conclusion from the second try of a sample. P.S: my mother's opinion is totally opposite of mine (about detecting the tuberose element).

this starts with a lovely creamy tuberose, ylang ylang and vanilla, which is very pretty. then after a few minutes, this airy element that smells like dryer sheets appears, and now it's tuberose dryer sheets. i do not want to smell like dryer sheets so this one is a fail for me unfortunately.

Within the Boucheron La Collection, it represents the importance of the city that offered to its explorers an abundant culture as well as sacred aspects, which were represented by the tuberose, fundamental flower for all Indian beliefs. The stone hunters were charmed by the beauty of the city, where tuberose was first cultivated, and its yellow heart evoked the purity of the rare Canary Diamond. The fragrance of Tubéreuse de Madras was created by Christophe Raynaud and is composed through the union of delicate petals of orange blossoms, violet leaves, and passion fruit, at the top of the olfactory pyramid, making way for notes of ylang-ylang, frangipani and tuberose infusion, in the heart, towards the base of tuberose absolute, vanilla, and sandalwood. On the skin, Tubéreuse de Madras is surprising since the beginning. If that were not enough the floral and accentuated aspect of the tuberose, with its numerous milky, creamy and indolic nuances, besides the heady scent that reminds us of a citric jasmine, we still have a juicy passion fruit in the opening of the fragrance. Love at first sight (or sniff)! Then, the heart reveals a bouquet of yellowish buds, combining the carnal facet of the tuberose with the aphrodisiac side of the ylang-ylang and the fruity side of the frangipani. Thinking of the Diamond as a concept, the perfumer was very clever when replacing jasmine with frangipani, avoiding a white floral as a result. Finally, the tuberose gains a reinforcement at the base, when its absolute is mixed with the vanilla - which provides a little more depth to the fragrance - and with sandalwood, which encapsulates everything in a comfortable way. According to the company, the olfactory competitions would be Carnal Flower (Frédéric Malle) and Beyond Love (By Kilian). Tubéreuse de Madras has quality, good projection and lasts for more than eight hours on the skin. It is unisex, but its beauty gains strength in the feminine skin. It is a daytime and joyful perfume that, in my opinion, owes much of its success to passion fruit, which combined with tuberose exceptionally. Without a doubt, one of the best fragrances of the collection.

Just received this today, first spray smelled exactly like bdk tubereuse imperial. Had to spray them side by side just to compare, bdk smells better, more refined, and more luxurious. TdM has this play doughy smell in the background that I don’t like. It reminds me of the same play dough facet in some Lancôme perfumes. I don’t know if I will be keeping my new 125 ml bottle, I’ll keep testing it. After having this for almost 2 months, I strongly like it, i don't quite love it yet... but things change over time, who knows. I'm glad i don't pick up on the play dough smell anymore, its completely disappeared to my nose. I also have vert malachite which is similar but also airy like this. this is an 8/10. I'm keeping my bottle and have gotten compliments. this is definitely worth the price for such an expensive looking bottle and not to mention the amount you get per bottle. Edit: it’s been 2 months and the weather is cooler now. This is beautiful I’m in love!

Just sampled this today. I am a lover of tuberose, to me it's very similar to gardenia. A strong, creamy, heady white floral scent with something deeper in the background. I realized later it was the ylang-ylang that gives it an oriental/tropical twist. This is the classier version of Island Gardenia by Jovan. Always loved that one too. Like reviewers below mentioned, it gets more complex as it dries down. The first hour of wearing it you think it's just a linear white floral, but it starts to "bloom" into an exotic tropical hybrid (without smelling like a boring summer scent that's been done a million times over). No, this is a tropical floral for a well-dressed mature woman. Stays close to the skin however, but if you don't mind having to re-apply after a while, it's still very enjoyable. It's not too "loud", not a beast mode. Tame but very pleasant.

I agree with the reviewer below (StellaDriverFlynn) I am picking up on that soy milk nuance in this, and it is very milked-down (like watered down) in its character. Something about this remimds me of play-doh as well. I do pick up the Ylang Ylang too which comes off kinda banana-y. Theres also a slightly faint spice that appears way way in the back.the scent smells more powdery as it dries down and remimds me of Valentina Poudre at that stage but less sweet. As a man that has a love n hate relationship w tuberose, I can say that this is the most non-tuberose, tuberose based scent I have ever smelled. Tuberose De Madras is truly unique and unisex and one of my favs in this collection.

I’m not getting green, lush or tropical tuberose at all. Tubereuse Madras doesn’t smell anything like L’Interdit or Do Son, it’s much more powdery. This is dusty, peachy unspecified white florals similar to something like Boucheron EDP or Quelques Fleurs. It’s inoffensive, just rather thin and old-fashioned.

Is this discontinued? Does anyone know? I have half a bottle left and I’m scared to use it because I can’t find it anywhere. I’m trying to get a back up with no luck.

-Reminiscent of Datura Noir by Serge Lutens, except this leans way more sour. -Simple, creamy tuberose scent that probably best suits women 40 and up. (-)

Green soapy tuberose. Not very sweet. Not very unique as far as tuberoses go. Unfortunately its not warming up on the dry down.
