Black Swan (Черный лебедь)

I've read several reviews on Russian Fragrantica before purchasing a decant of this frag and I have to admit that my impression is very, very different from the majority of those I've read about. Despite the notes, I expected something gloomy, gothic, even bizarre maybe... But boy, was I wrong. It's interesting how people perceive scents so differently - Black Swan smells cozy and moderately sweet to me. Graveyards, soil and infernal rites? More like a bouquet of roses standing near a cake. I get whiffs of vetiver and sandalwood, which smell delicious here. Of course, rose is dominant here but it's covered with comforting sweetness (@GuiltGuild, I absolutely second the cocoa!). Once the cocoon of hazelnuts and powders unravels, we're welcome to smell some geranium. Genius contrast. I wouldn't go as far as to compare it with ELDO's Rossy de Palma though, Rossy is harsher and gives off almost metallic vibes, that one is really fresh yet spicy. Moderate sillage and longevity. Weird take but this frag reminds me of ELDO's Fat Electrician, must be the sweet creamy vetiver. Perhaps Black Swan could be his girlfriend?

Изначально, черный лебедь показался мне достаточно специфичным чтобы назвать его парфюмом. Он - произведение искусства, картина, композиция, но не парфюм, так я думала. Папа сделал подвал в гараже, глубоко под землёй. Мне было лет 12 когда однажды у нас шел сильный дождь заливший дороги, машины на улицах и этот подвал. Когда мы это обнаружили, потолок уже покрылся какими-то слизистыми грибами. Выглядело жутко, будто там хранят трупы. Если бы не этот случай, я бы не узнала что такое "подвальные пачули"😂 Тряпки которыми мы мыли подвал, пахли как черный лебедь когда я его только купила - холодным, ржавым металлом покрытым слизью. Эта ситуация помирила нас с сестрами, кстати. Не потому что мы вместе чистили подвал, а потому что мы все были в ужасе и не хотели туда идти 😂 Впервые открыв черного лебедя, я услышала цитрусы и подумала "о неееет, типичные цитрусы, просто кислый, цитрусовый парфюм, такое любит моя мама, но не я..". Но через долю секунды я услышала наш родной подвал и подумала "О! И подвал! Классно, слизистые грибы в подвале!" Использовав его первое время, я слышала металл, кто захочет - придумает себе кровь, но для меня - только металл. Мокрый и холодный. Чем-то он зацепил меня, понравился. Я не была уверенна в своем восприятии запахов после ковида. Поэтому поставила парфюм в коробочке, в прохладное место. Прошло 2 года, вчера я распылила их перед выходом под кожаную куртку. На улице было +17°С, небыло ветра, и я была в восторге. Будто зашла в облако из роз. Почему-то мне слышно тортики. Не сами тортики даже, а свечи горящие на торте. Розы, свечи, цитрусы, подвальные пачули. Для меня это очень романтичная готика. Мы с мужем на днях сели смотреть сериал Уэнсдэй. В одной из серий есть сцена в склепе. Девочку поздравили с днём рождения. Я думаю это идеальное отражение аромата "черный лебедь". Склеп, свечи, торт. Даааа, точно! Это идеальная иллюстрация. Мило:)

Experiences with this scent seem to wildly vary person to person. To me, this smells mostly like huge heaps of sweet, blooming roses and orchids. No hazelnut, or anything else too prominent in general. It's rounded out by the earthiness and woodiness of the base notes, but I perceive it as very floral and joyful - definitely nothing dark or gothic about this.

starts off soapy, powdery and artificially fruity, like an apple flavoured dish soap. on the dry down it gets only more powdery but also creamier, more almond-y with more florals than fruit. though it’s creamy it’s also very cold with something a bit sharp underneath—maybe the patchouli? not bad but nothing special either, i wouldn’t buy a full bottle.

Напомнило арома-масло розы, которое сестра привозила с моря. Его капают а кулон. Мужу понравилось. Мне пахнет не рассолом, а чем-то ностальгическим, а рассола я не слышу совсем.

A confectionery rose on a bed of dark greenery, heavy on a classic wet fougere-style geranium. The rose seems to be covered in cocoa, which lends it not simply chocolatey sweetness, but a warm powderiness (probably the almond note lends this impression). To my nose, the geranium is quite loud, surprised nobody mentioned it in the Russian reviews for this. The woody base blended with the rose gives off a slight hint of oud, but not enough to make it a properly heavy frag, which for me is good because most niche rose-oud perfumes are way too potent for me, whereas this one seems just right. My fiancee, however, said it smelled of dill and parsley :D which echoes the Russian Fragrantica reviews mentioning brine notes. I don't sense anything of that though.

На мне Черный лебедь раскрылся как пачули-пачули-пачули, потом хоп - и ничего...
