Once Upon a Time Fortune

Inspired by Felix Felicis it's a soft citrus blend with tonka-vanilla background, light-hearted and happy. Lemony opening goes cool liqorice before it settles into powdery tonka.

(Sampled) Very torn on this one. Think it boils down to maybe it's just not for me. Opening is quite punchy for a citrus forward scent. The distinct notes are noting - tart lemon, only made more bitter by the grapefruit and given a little freshness from the barely there ginger. It is a touch artificial to me, but not egregiously so. That quickly fades (like really quick) to reveal a light floral note, and some earthy wood. As another reviewer noted, it is almost like anise or licorice. The citric note still very much there. Fully dry, it mellows further and becomes a little musky but mostly warm spicy wood, with that vanilla and tonka at the base. It's not as powdery as I'd expect with the musk, which I enjoy. Everything is very accurate to the notes - but leads a fragrance that won't surprise you or give you much distinction. Performance is fine, the opening is very short (as tends to be the case with citric fragrances) and there is next to no projection or sillage. It's a light, light fragrance. After an hour, only you'll be able to smell it - and becomes a skin scent sooner after. Mileage on skin is maybe 2-3 hours, so you may want to layer with a base oil to your preference or apply to clothes as well for a boost. Unfortunately purchases of any other Brocard (and co) will not be an option anytime soon, but if you want to sample and help clear stock Bloom Perfumery has a few samples of Brocard still available. Overall, a wearable all year scent that will appeal to a lot of people. Leans more unisex than expected as well. 7/10 - entirely pleasant but not really to my tastes, poor performance. Also Russian.

It's like diving into a big lemon meringue pie. Delicious.

Just as Bloom says, the lemon is almost lemon meringuey at the top. Fairly light after an hour, but stays a skin/clothes scent for much, much longer. This is just delicious.
