1818 Signature Cologne

Another discontinued gem. A barbershop fragrance without a doubt, but with timeless finesse and something that speaks of class. Starts off with a blast of spices, I mainly get lavender, cloves and pink pepper blended with what feels like ambery dry tobacco. There is a touch of florals as well, but it just works as a background layer, and barely noticeable since this beauty is blended exceptional well. In the final stages you are left with leather, musk and a slight spicy talc accord very reminiscent to old school style aftershave of the likes of clubmann or old spice - it can come off as a warm fragrance, but it isn’t sweet. Completely versatile but would work best in the fall, winter or colder months. There are similarities to Penhaligon's The Tragedy of Lord George as well, but this one is better as its not overdosed with tonka.

I am shocked Brooks Brothers 1818 Signature Cologne does not get more attention. This cologne is a must have for men who want to be gentlemen. Scent 10/10 As described in previous comments this cologne smells like class and old money. Something you would smell at a 5 star steak house. Longevity 9/10 I use 3 sprays and it last all day. By no means is this a 80s powerhouse. Overall, I would recommend this for anybody who is looking for a truly manly scent 1818 is a fine classic that should receive more critical acclaim. The Gents Score 10/10 a true gentlemen's classic.

Tried it on while buying a gift at BB ... love at first sniff. One of the best kept secrets in male fragrances. I get leather, cloves, vanilla, spice... love it... subtle but long lasting ... try it ... fantastic for every day any day use ...

Brooks Brothers' 1818 Signature cologne is a musky and masculine barbershop scent that exudes class. Mature and classic, but not old and dated. Smells very similar to Royall Lyme's Royall Muske.

To me it is like sandalwood. Just great.The longevity was great and yet it did not seem cloying.Good old school masculine that is contemporary and has not been reformulated to death.

Not sure what's going on with the note listings, but this is an aromatic fougère through and through. It's not reinventing the wheel. However, what it does, it does well. It has good performance to boot.

1818 based on one sample, 3 sprays on skin. 1818 traditional In every sense. This is by no means a new fragrance, nor does it employ any new ideas. It is a deeply masculine fragrance that uses, leather, woods and musk to portray the “dapper” gentleman image. I’d argue that this is far too dated to portray anything but old... it’s not a displeasing fragrance - as in it doesn’t smell awful - but if you don’t like old school woody fragrances, you will not like this one. For such a masculine musky/leather, the performance is horrible. About 3 hours for 3 skins on spray. At the third hour, you’re smashing your nose into your skin to smell it. Projection is decent for the first hour. While I’m not completely disappointed in this, it’s certainly not something I’d wear often. Worth a sample if you’re a fan of old powerhouse smells. 6/10

This is definitely a pleasant fragrance from Brooks Brothers. Definitely not a blind buy if you're under the age of 50. This smells like a debonair gentleman in his twilight years. Confident, suave, and wealthy. Reminiscent of fragrances like Pinaud Clubman and the Original Old Spice, but 1818 Signature Cologne is much better blended, rounded with nuanced leather, musk, and spices. Definitely not for anyone under the age of 50, as I've said. If you're younger and would like to pull something like this off, I think it would only have to be in formal settings. Any other occasion and you'll end up smelling like someone's grandfather. Classy gentleman's cologne.

I bought my big splash bottle at the outlet in 2016 on my birthday . I still have about 1/2 left. The top notes are almost gone, faded away and it’s absolutely nuclear with just 2 sprays. It’s an out and out barbershop fragrance. It’s clove and bay rum heavy fragrance, with hints of a smooth shaving cream, basil smell. I don’t reach for it often, but when I that barbershop smell, feel I will use a spray. I recently tried Creeds BDP and while nice, I find 1818 superior for this type of smell. If you absolutely love barbershop type fragrance, this is a must try

I have been wearing this for years. I do enjoy most of Brooks Brothers offerings. If I had to describe the cologne, I would say it smells like walking into a barbershop. You get hits of white and sweet musks, shaving creams, Clubmann powder, mild spice and Vetiver. This is a well constructed fragrance. The best barbershop fragrance hands down.

It can't be more barbershopy than this. I love this even more than rive gauche. sad I can't find it anymore. One of the greatest fragrances that only few people knew about. Masterpiece classic for a real gentleman. 10/10

I love it when my husband wears this! I can't stop getting up close to him when he does. I won't let him wear it when he isn't with my! LOVE LOVE LO VE!!!!!!
