Here is a part of chandler burr’s Review from NY times article, it goes over the raw materials used very interesting I love when I can find out which specific musks and whatnot were used in a fragrance. “ And so Herpin set off. “The idea was to create a tension between the fresh top and the base of mystery and comfort,†he said. The top is natural bergamot and lemon oil from the peel, “but less sharp and without bitterness. Also a bit of hyper-reality mandarin reconstitution [molecules mixed into a mandarin scent] for juicy, smiling, mouth-watering.†He added a trace of the synthetics Calone and Melonal, which give watery/juicy, and petitgrain, the stem and leaves of the orange tree, “which is really there in almost sub-therapeutic dose to fingerprint the thing as a †̃classic.â€TM†Then carnation enhanced with the molecule eugenol, which is crucial in clove. Eugenol smells cold and makes carnation one of the spiciest flowers you can find. To undergird that, some excellent Firmenich synthetic musks: Muscenone, Muscenone Delta (very expensive, but, Herpin says, Brooks Brothers and Como insisted) and Galaxolide, which is not expensive “but has this magnifying-glass aspect that warms the juice, clarifies it and gives you warm, clean skin, slightly milky sensuality, part maternal, part animal.†Second, vetiver SFE, an extremely high-quality vetiver created with carbon dioxide extraction. “Pure, clear,†Herpin says, “it gives you all the fresh astringent and takes out the potato and earthiness you get in cheaper vetivers.†He sighs. “Youâ€TMre limited by price. Vetiver SFE is extremely expensive.†The result is a very nice masculine whose traditionalism is apparent and yet one step ahead of that category. One quibble: the mandarin and lemon simply donâ€TMt adhere, and if there is “juicy, smiling, mouth-watering,†it doesnâ€TMt wind up in my mouth. What I get is astringent vetiver grass + eugenol spice + musk reassurance + a bit of sharp, biting petitgrain. There is no shock value (e.g., Narciso Rodriguez for Men), but thatâ€TMs the point. Here is an olfactory Lexus LS: fine-tuned, amazingly stable, solid engine. It wonâ€TMt blow anyone away. But it will transport you very nicely indeed, in comfort and security. Not such a bad thing.”

Brooks Brothers was generous enough to accommodate me with a small bottle of New York Gentleman, the masculine counterpart to New York for Ladies. NYG has the peppery opening of a 40 watt light bulb (powered by true to life verbena and bergamot), which gradually dims down to a comforting green glow stick, emitting a trace of warmth from spice and vetiver. At one point, it feels like it almost wants to turn aquatic, but veers away just in time. Whew... The citrus is front and center in this fragrance and has the same exact bone structure and fashion sense as someone you used to know but can't quite place. It reminds me of the vetiver/rosemary dynamic in Jo Malone's Grapefruit, and the dry down reminds me of L'Eau de L'Artisan, due to that verbena-woody moss combo, which is much cleaner in NYG, and mustier/melancholy in L'Eau de L'Artisan. Jo Malone's Grapefruit and L'Eau de L'Artisan both don't sit quite right on me. The Grapefruit in JM seems at odds with the spice/rosemary and vetiver as if the grapefruit had been scribbled over with a pen that only pulls ink some of the time, and not when you want it to. The verbena/herbs in L'Artisan remind me of visiting an empty band shell in Central Park when everything is shrouded in mist.I don't get the uplifting feeling from it that so many seem to experience. New York Gentleman on the other hand, is a steady, uncompromised, herbal-citrus glow. It is dry and fresh without being sharp or aftershave-like, and more masculine and complex than L'Occitane's Verbena due to the vetiver. It's in the same family as JM Grapefruit and L'Eau de L'Artisan, but this uncannily familiar and understated fragrance succeeds for me where the other two failed: it sits just right. It is by no means groundbreaking, but who cares? Apply it, enjoy it, and get on with your day.

OUTSTANDING SCENT!!! For me, this one receives an AWARD in my TOP 10 of best designer fragrances which have flown "UNDER THE RADAR"- fragrances which are NOT popular or mainstream *Decent longevity & Projection for what you pay and the note breakdown *Has a certain unique appeal to it: people WILL NOT READILY put their hand on it and you WILL NOT smell like just the "other guy" *It is a TREMENDOUS bang for your buck!!! New York Gentleman is a very nice masculine scent whose traditionalism is apparent and yet one step ahead of the rest. One minor flaw: the mandarin and lemon simply don’t adhere, and if there is supposed to be a “juicy, smiling, mouth-watering” appeal to it, it doesn’t wind up in my mouth. What I get is astringent vetiver grass + eugenol spice + musk reassurance + a bit of sharp, biting petitgrain. That for me rounds out thus blend into a MARVELOUS Lime Chypre..... For those of you who are not familiar with the term: The classical chypre is defined as a combination of five notes—citrus (often bergamot), floral (classically, rose or jasmine), woody (often patchouli), oakmoss, amber and/or musk.

This is indeed a safe, conservative gentlemen fragrance. It's fresh classy bergamont and vetiver provide that fresh suave one-two punch for any dressy gentleman looking to make an impression. It's important to say that its not a statement fragrance that will leave a unique impression on anyone. That being said, I'd be lying if I said this couldn't be a signature scent for someone as it does have that capability. Now the only (and I mean ONLY) drawback I would have is that it does carry a bit of a somewhat synthetic smell. That being said, the longetivity is fantastic and the silage is very "gentlemanly" meaning it's noticeable but not overwhelming. All and all, I have BB New York Gentlemen and 9.8/10. It has also earned a place in my Top 5 fragrances (see my profile for more). I also HIGHLY RECOMMEND you guys go out and get it as it's been discontinued

An exceedingly gorgeous bouquet of blindingly brilliant freshness and floral glory! There are very few perfumes that come close to this type of wonderful and heady accord; maybe K by D&G. I hadn’t worn this in a while and I kept getting whiffs of an opulent and thoroughly appealing air of beauty. It smells nostalgic and contemporary at once, but fragrance like this is absolutely timeless. It lasts forever. The initial whiff after applying is an effulgent bouquet, like diamonds in the sunlight, wild with frenzied prisms. A seductive potion without parallel. This is worth much more than the discount price for which it may still be sold.

This is a very nice old fashioned chypre. Its does not smell dated at all but rather clean and elegant. The name Gentlemen actually describes this fragrance quite well. Its nothing mind blowing nor new, but l love its simplicity. This would be ideal for those hot and brisk summer days but in my opinion, Gentlemen is completely versatile. I absolutely love the green bitter opening, I really wish it lasted longer. After about 10 minutes its starts reminding me of Equipage with its mossy carnation note. The only flaw I have with this one is its performance. Its a light skin scent after about 2 hours.

Very classy and easy to wear. I get noticed by women nearly every time I wear this wonderful fragrance. While many will think it doesn't smell like anything special up front, the progression and dry down really reveal an outstanding scent. I'm thoroughly pleased with this purchase, and I'd recommend it over many of its competitors (the usual anemic department-store fragrances by Kenneth Cole, Armani, and the likes). It cost the same as a department store fragrance, but it is of higher quality. Best way to describe it: fresh (due to light citrus), woody, and green aromatic fragrance.

This is one of those versatile fragrances that you can wear any season, day or night. I also get impressive longevity, 8-10 hours on my skin. A nice blast of bergamot and vetiver, with some oak moss and then caraway in the dry down. Like other reviewers have stated, I think this can easily complete with more expensive fragrances...it’s really that good! I got my 3.4 oz bottle at Marshall’s for $20 and at that price you can’t go wrong, even if it doesn’t wow you.

Now this here is a barbershop in a bottle it has a great citrusy smell and woodsy background..And yes as the last reviewer stated its definitely a suit-and-tie accountant lawyer type of fragrance but to me it smells finely made and quite potent and also has a nice creamy powder type of base and im not a big powder smell type but this is nice and delicate and goooood!! the scent imo 8.0/10 strength/longevity 7.5/10....good day to all

If you’re lucky enough to find this discontinued gem at Marshall’s, Ross, or tj maxx, scoop it up immediately. It’s been rising in price but nothing too crazy, even for $60 this is a steal. Considering that you can get this for $20, it’s one of the best $20 fragrances I’ve ever smelled. The current resell prices prove that. This is so good it has a CO2 extracted vetiver and muscenone delta. And Melonal and watermelon ketone, natural lemon peel bergamot , and carnation etc. it’s like a beautiful modern version of classic aftershave musky spicy mans fragrance. And it says 74% alcohol by volume so 26% perfume oil I guess! So pretty much an EDP. One of the best fragrances ever

When I first applied New York for Gentlemen I was amazed to see how wonderful it smelled. I smell the bergamot, vetiver and it settles down to a musky dry down. It is definitely refined and masculine, quiet and not over powering. The longevity and silage are average. I love it, it is perfect for the office.

Continuing from below my phone started glitching out, anyway this one Brooks Brothers New York fits that bill perfectly it is super impressive to me while being subtle and not too loud or obnoxious. I’m a weird quiet tranny and loud boisterous fragrances always seem out of place on my ass F*** you

Got this for $15 at Marshall's. I wasn't expecting much, but wow! It's great. Smells so well blended and expensive. Good longevity too which was around 9 hours. Also, I use vaseline for men lotion and it smells amazing layered with Brooks Brothers New York Gentlemen!

Wow this blew me away I’ve always been looking for a type of fragrance that would be a more modern + expensive smelling kind of woody musk classic after shave, almost polo-ish but not quite. Nothing like Halston which I despise

Btw this one reminds me of Creed Spice and Wood but the Brooks Brothers New York is a bit more complex and rounder I’d say. And the effect is a bit more full and less sharp

Ya the vetiver in this is so clean and almost like a rain on hot sidewalk smell. And with the carnation and melonal and lemon peel etc it’s just so good.

NICE but no Cigar!!! I did a blind-buy of this fragrance after reading so many positive reviews back in 2015. My judgment, it's nice little aromatic fragrance that is reasonably priced if you find it at TJ Maxx and the likes. I like it and occasionally wear it while at the office, in a shirt & tie, when the goal is to smell nice, clean and professional without being overbearing or offensive; NY Gentleman does this nicely. How does it smell? I do get some vetiver, carnation and basil out of this one, but generally detect blended woody-aromatic fragrance with fresh spices and citrus. It's nice and non-offensive; not likely to offend, but not likely to Wow! Projection is moderate and this NY Gentlemen lasted about 5-6 hours on my skin. Although I wish it lasted a little longer, it's not a bad little fragrance. Although only a small number of people have reviewed this fragrance, I do not feel it is a good as some of the reviews have portrayed it; to me, NY Gentlemen is just nice smelling cologne. Also, the atomizer on my bottle is terrible; it sprays little puffs and not a medium to large mist like more atomizers. But your mileage may vary.

I found this one and got it as a blind buy from Marshalls - figured for $20 it would be hard to go wrong. I am very happy with this one. The very first impression was of the floral and I stared to get disapointed. That scent didn't last very long and I now have a very hard time picking out the floral scent when I wear NYG. This frag doesn't have a lot of silliage so don't overdo it - it is there. I found that it has decent longevity. This is an impression, not an exact reference, but NYG just after the drydown reminds me a lot of Armani Pour Homme after the Armani has been on for 9 hours. NYG is a very light and crisp scent (with a little musk) the entire time, where the Armani has a bit more low/mid range to it (with the Sandlewood). I had the Armani on the other day and as the sandlewood faded at the end of the day realized I was getting confused and couldn't remember if I had put on the NYG or not. The blind buy for me was a great value and I'm very pleased. This one is a keeper.

Fresh Woody and Citrus Scent with a Barbershop vibe SOTD (Scent Of The Day): Brooks Brothers New York Gentlemen EDT: As of 01/30/19 An interesting blind buy several days ago at my local TJ Maxx. Made my SOTD on 01/30/19, is nice fresh, woody, citrus scent with a barbershop vibe. My nose detects the bergamot, carnation, vetiver on the opening mostly I detect the bergamot and vetiver, and in the background the lemon verbena, oakmoss and mandarin orange starts to creep in. So far to me is a good fresh simple scent, and for the price is a great value TJ Maxx priced it @ $19.99 USD. Is a hidden gem for me and is a must have. Rating Scent: 7.5/10 Design/Presentation: 5/10 Value: 9/10 Longevity/Performance: 9/10: 4-6 Sprays: Lasted on my skin/skin scent around between 10-12+ hrs Overall: 7.5/10

Like most others, I purchased this at Marshall's a few months ago. Only recently I started wearing it as the weather has become quite hot in my region. It's definitely soapy and fresh, but a step above your typical sporties and freshies that are common. I was debating buying a bottle of Mugler Cologne, but now that I've worn this I've changed my mind. This scent is much more masculine and for me, it fits right in that space that's not too playful and not too serious. Very casual. Performance is average to slightly above average depending on the setting. If you like classic, clean, citrus, barbershop-type masculine scents, grab a bottle while its still around. The value is terrific. Grade: B

Classic, fresh, citrus fragrance that I purchased for my husband. This BB New York for gentlemen might not have a lot of personality but sometimes, we just need a safe, nice, classic, fresh and clean scent. This EDT fills that spot nicely. Longevity and projection are mild but this is what I expect from this kind of EDT. This is a win for me. Good signature scent. Anytime, any occasion, classy scent. Edit: I've taken this over since my husband finds it too boring. I wear it in the summer daytime. Works great for me since most of my summer perfumes have no longevity anyway. Even the "average" men's fragrance lasts longer than my summer perfumes.

For one reason or another, this scent has become polorazing for many fragranticans! I think one issue is the overcomplication of what this scent is. This is a lemon/bergamot with a hint of barbershop in the background. It is not a complicated scent. It’s a very simple, pleasing citrus. It certainly does not need to be worn with a suit and tie - but you’re welcome to do so. I got it for $20 at Marshall’s, and that’s about what it’s worth. If you’re looking for an easy to wear citrus that doesn’t overwhelm a crowd, this is a great option. 6/10

NY4G by BB has a nice fresh citrus opening with a great lemon verbena note. I’m not a huge fan of orris, but in this composition, it adds a gentle, powdery touch. Scent profile sits somewhere between Neroli Sauvage, Eau Sauvage, and YSL Pour Homme. The carnation note is less prominent than the 2 latter aforementioned fragrances, which makes it more palatable for modern noses. Overall, great stuff! Shame it’s discontinued.

Like so many others, I got this for a steal at tjmaxx. Like so many others I am very impressed with the clean, limey, barbershop scent that last for hours and keeps wanting to my nose and intriguing me with it's complexity and bright nature. That said, I totally understand why people say it smells cheap and boring. I put it in my locker in the gym which might be telling.

Aptly named clean, gentlemanly fragrance with lime and green Haitian vetiver standing out along with some soapy iris and powdery carnation. Conservative in the safe, traditional manner. For a well-groomed, well-dressed professional during the workday. You won’t stand out wearing this nor will you elicit many compliments, but you will smell nice.

Great smelling Juice. Classic without being stodgey,you can imagine Don Draper wearing a cologne like this.I purchased this in San Francisco and have received nothing but "oh my what is that cologne it's amazing".If you want a good long lasting fall/winter cologne this would be the one.

A very prominent floral note with a woody, citrusy, and aromatic base that gives the floral accord a distinctly masculine feel; it is very versatile—suitable for formal or casual occasions, and for pairing with simple or more elaborate outfits—with good longevity and projection.

A nice blast of citrus with a vetiver undercurrent. The vetiver is the "dirty" vetiver found in Guerlain's Vetiver. IMO this gives it the "old school" vibe others talk about, but it also increases its versatility in office situations. good longevity soo sillage

Oh my lucky stars, a lime chypre! A wonderful little lime and musk chypre that's clean and classy without trying too hard. It's not dated at all (very modern), and the price can't be beat. Not bad longevity for a citrus fragrance. Try it!

Fantastic spring and summer citrus Chypre. Got it from TJ Maxx for 17 dollars. I loved it so much I went back and got a backup bottle. Get it before it’s gone!

I purchased this on a blind buy after reading all the good reviews. I was in a Brooke Brothers store probably 10-12 yrs ago and bought a bottle of some cologne and was quiet impressed with it so I thought maybe this is a good one too. I ordered a 1 0z bottle for 17.99 from overstock and I honestly believe this is so outdated and its gone bad or either someone by mistake but the woman's version is this bottle. I'm not kidding here, the main ingredient in the woman's New york version is white floral and that pretty much what you smell even on the drydown with this. I'm blown away ! No woody, no citris and no green. Its smells like old lady perfume ! I called the company and they gave me a store credit to get something else, which was nice of them . If your smells good I guess you were lucky.

Received March 2019 from Tj Maxx. Recent re-issue. Smells like: Some cheap girl's perfume from 1990 sold at Phar Mor discount pharmacy that my teenage sister would have worn. Overall take: Headache inducing, outrageously synthetic and loud in the bad way. Makes me want to avoid anything with the listed aroma chemicals like norlimbanol for fear that it will smell like this. I gave it 4 wearings. 3/4 of them were headache inducing. Gave it away to family. And to think I was considering buying a bottle for $80 on ebay... Crisis averted.

Nothing sexy or head turning here! This is the fragrance for the boring accountant who works 9-5p Mo-Fri. Simple lime soapy sent with slight medicinal ting. Women will find you non-offensive but will definitely not want to hop in bed with you.

I hereby tender my confession that I am addicted to blind buying fragrances from the likes of Ross and TJ Maxx, which is where I found this scent for a third of a pittance. I tested it on a piece of cardboard from inside the package, it smelled super synthetic and that made me kind of sad, but I figured oh well, I have it now, no reason to return it. I forgot about it for a few hours, then went back to smell the card again, and it was something entirely different and very pleasant, not the annoying synthetic citrus it opened with but a clean, dry, woody citrus. I tried it on my skin the next day, and after the initial SUPER ANNOYING opening (reminds me of pleather), this fragrance is something worth having, especially after having paid basically nothing for it. It is a really wonderful citrus scent, lime rinds through and through in the mids where the money's at (perhaps the bergamot, but with some staying power). I think I'll be saving it for high summer, when sheets are white, women are scantily clad, and floating on the river won't end in frostbitten appendages. I read through some of the reviews below, and I disagreed with some of the assessments at first but have taken some time to reconsider. With the aid of a couple brewskis (alcohol in moderation helps the sense of smell, look it up), I could totally see the barbershop vibe, but it's not a barbershop like I'm used to (powder and violet and lemony aftershave and such stereotypes). Gentleman's take on barbershop is the sort of extreme herbal cleanliness of American Crew, an immediate post-haircut smell, you can pick it up at the base and it's actually quite nicely executed. This may be where folks see a suit and tie vibe but I think any clean cut person could conceivably pull this off at virtually any time. This whole fragrance smells intentional, it does exactly what it sets out to do from the get go, even the annoying opening (I can't say why it just feels RIGHT). It's also one that, while I don't outright love it, I can't stop smelling myself while I'm wearing it for some reason ("hmm that's interesting"..."yea that's not so bad"..."I kind of like it"...). It's not really puzzling and controversial, I think it might instead be so simple as to be compellingly original, in a world full of intentionally disharmonious accords. So far I've only worn it around the house, but I am looking forward to wearing it out into the world to see what people think.

“The Bleuprint” My bottle: I purchased a small 50 mL bottle of this at a BB outlet maybe 6-7 years ago. I remember I went in to the outlet to buy some pants and, for under $30, purchased this as an afterthought. As I sit here today I am down to my last 8-10mLs of juice. So just to recap, this is my original bottle that I’ve slowly used and now I’m almost out. What have I done with this stuff? Will I repurchase it? Let’s find out.. Smelling it: At first smell you get a blast of the mandarin and bergamot. As the scent develops you end up with a carnation blast with oak moss, a clean vetiver and hints of spices and citrus. It truly is a nice composition. I think the moss gives it a gentlemanly vibe and that iris just smooths out the mandarin and vetiver. Wearing it: I spray this 3 times- 2 chest, 1 on the back of the neck, one on the wrist and rub the other wrist. On me the scent never projects more than 1-2 feet and I get about 6 hrs and then a couple of hours of skin scent. I’ve worn this at different times of the year to work and formal gatherings like weddings. I have received a few compliments. Overall: I like this, but it’s not a love for me. I would like to replace it when I run out though because I do think it’s an interesting scent. So why did I call this “The Bleuprint”? My reasons are twofold. First of all, the scent came out a couple of years before BdC and the clones. Secondly, not only is it in a blue bottle but to my nose this smells like a more mature version of any one of the “blue” scents that have been so popular. I want to be clear that I’m not saying this smells like those fragrances. But I am saying that you could wear this around guys wearing Dylan Blue or Sauvage and you’ll be the one smelling the most original. I am usually not a fan of notes like carnation and oak moss which, to me, gives it a more vintage appeal. But the other notes like mandarin, bergamot and vetiver keep this appealing to me. This is a good fragrance for work or formal settings- maybe in a Brooks Brothers suit. I would not wear this at home or casually running errands. This scent has a setting and if you go easy on the trigger you’ll pull this off. 6.9/10 SYL

This is The Little Fragrance That Could. There's a saying in the multi-generational world of rock 'n roll: "Better to hear a good song played badly, than a bad song played well." In the case of New York for Gentlemen, we're dealing with a mediocre song played very well, which cuts both ways for the wearer. Herpin was conscious of the top notes here, and wanted them to walk past the ten minute mark and into forty-five minute territory. He succeeded - genuine bergamot and lemon oils somehow outpace their normal transience and live on well after application. They smell remarkably fresh and realistic, and they should, because they are. There's some sort of attempt at orange as the top begins to fade, and this marks the first strike for New York, as it doesn't quite make do. But the citrus is rapidly joined by a beautiful natural vetiver note, which is also 100% genuine, and smells every bit the part. Furthermore, the vetiver is strong, arguably stronger than the current incarnation of Guerlain's. This note saves the heart from slipping into total banality. Coupled with the citrus, it bears a crude resemblance to Eau Sauvage. The drydown is a pretty combination of musks and a carnation note, very peppery, and a little woody. The vetiver sticks around for the drydown, underpinning a cotton-shirt clean feeling. Brooks Brothers makes no secret of the use of an expensive musk note in here, and I'm glad they didn't cheap out on it, because without the extra bling, this scent would have fallen apart entirely. As it stands, it's a little simplistic and clunky, but at least it smells good. A respectable EDT here, yet it's a reluctant case of hoping top-notch materials will make up for a bare construct. If you're in the market for a classic citrus-floral chypre from the French school, you're better off with Eau Sauvage in the end. It's smoother, better-balanced, of the same quality, more complex, and smells just a few hairs better than this.

This is a great fresh soapy citrus (more lemon than orange) fragrance. I actually don't get much orange at all. It's soapy like a bar of high end lemon soap but with depth, great for office, or an event that requires some dressing up. Maybe casual in the spring or summer, but not a "gym scent". Not very sporty. More refined. Very light and clean, but has some character, and not chemically at all. Very well blended and smooth to my nose. Nothing really bad about this one, except for that it might not be for all ages and longevity could be better. It's more "mature" but doesn't smell like an old man to me. No dusty rose, heavy musk or strong woods. Just soapy lemon clean. Inside it's good all year round, out side spring and summer I'd say is best. Age group would be mid twenties and up, leaning more into 30's. It's what I would consider a "classic" scent, something you wouldn’t spray when you're trying to stand out in the club, or playin Sunday football with the boys. I prefer sweet fresh/fruity fragrances, so this is a great addition to my collection since it's different. Love it. Overall.. amazing juice.

This is an aficionado fragrance. I'd guess just about everyone else will dislike it, but for different reasons! There is a lime-tinted, sinus-irritating opening that some may enjoy. It's too creamy/blob-like for me, but it doesn't last too long (perhaps an hour) and then it opens up into a fabulous drydown. There is excellent note separation and contrast, balance, dynamism, and naturalness. It is a little dry and with the barest hint of sweetness. In some ways, it's like a more natural smelling, "mature" version of Cordovan by Banana Republic. This is not a statement-making fragrance (unless you like to fire people, perhaps), nor does it fit into any other obvious category, except perhaps "gentlemanly." Longevity is good and projection ("sillage") is easy to control by spraying more (2 sprays worked for me). To be honest, I think I prefer Homme de Gres to this one, due to a more interesting base, but that doesn't mean you will share that view if you like these kinds of fragrances.

Spartan Standard Approved Very Unusual fragrance...The only other Scent I can think that is similar is Clean's- White Vetiver...They are very close... I really like this fragrance.!! Grows on me all the Time!.. But its been discontinued and it's not listed on the Brooks Brothers web sight for sale.. I will Not keep in my collection...Only because it's discontinued....But I can see some Guy's making this A go to. Sample if you can before you Buy.... I first smelled this fragrance while shopping on the Magnificent Mile in Chicago. I was walking around the various shops smelling the signature designer fragrances when I stumbled upon this and the corresponding ladies fragrance. I fell in love and could not get this scent out of my mind. It's so classy, but not old man. Very lovely. Initially, I could smell the citrusy note and a little bit of the flowery notes. However, soon the fragrance turned very woodsy and masculine. I could not believe what I was smelling! The layers in this fragrance were so deep and intense - but not overwhelming. I think this scent is worth every dime and it even comes in a nice box worth keeping!

I picked up a bottle at Marshalls for $20. After trying it on my skin, I was blown away by the wonderful smell that was projecting from me. There is something about this fragrance that makes me want to keep smelling it. It is clean, fresh with old school & modern vibe. The oak moss tones the freshness of the high quality vetiver down and this fragrance is formulated with very high quality ingredients along with some synthetics to give it the above average staying power. In some ways, this could have been in the Creed family of scents, as it has that quality to it. I would say that this is in the higher end designer league. It was one of my best blind buys.

Bought this cologne from Marshall's after looking at good reviews here and shocked for the low price when I tried this cologne. This cologne deserves to be on premium list and it reminds me a lot of Isse Miyake after couple of minutes I sprayed on my wrist. Very close resemblance, but slightly better. I would always go back and buy again as it is a nice addition to my closet. Perfume smells quite different to me than the notes mentioned in above and the smell is very similar to Isse Miyake as I mentioned earlier. It is very pleasant and I think suitable to wear for work everyday.

Saw this at a TJ Max/Marshall's store in Dallas. Blind bought it, because it was less than $20 and reviews seemed favorable enough. To me this is a great scent! Very clean and fresh, especially in Texas heat. Smells timeless and is one of the classier citrus colognes I've tried. Projection isn't the strongest but longevity was well above expectation. Easily one of my favorite blind buys and a definite no brainer if you can find it at that cheap price point. It's on par with some Penhaligons and Acqua di Parmas if that gives you a better idea.

I tried this one on my skin in a Brooks Brothers store. I didn't notice a long development and about 10 minutes after spraying it on, I had a nice and pleasant scent on my skin. The overall impression that it leaves is that of a clean, comfortable and somewhat soapy scent. It's well blended and distinguishing particular notes would be hard, however you could tell it's composed around florals, vetiver, and oak-moss. Good longevity and projection. The stylish packaging is noteworthy too. Overall: 6.5 out of 10.

So invigorating! I usually can’t handle anything mature leaning, I’m in my 20s for reference, and yet I love this one. Super clean and fresh without smelling generic or chemically at all. Makes me feel professional and ready to do important work, even if I’m just lounging around. Ideal for post shower feels haha. So glad I got this cheap a while back and forgot about it until now, so that I could rediscover how good it is.

The presentation of box and bottle is very stylish and classy. The fragrance is also rather sophisticated, and in a contemporary way; it's even a little bit fresh. But it ends up a bit too musky on me. (I don't care for dominant musk in scents that I wear.) I wanted very much to like this, and I probably would enjoy smelling it on someone else. I ended up giving mine away, sorry to say.

This is really good but the Brooks Bros. Lineup is incomplete here. They had a fragrance called 1818 and another simply called Brooks Brothers classic cologne that featured jasmine and sandalwood,opened with citrus and vetyver ,I thought it was fantastic. Like most fragrances with Indian sandalwood it seems to have went the way of the Dodo bird

Not for me, strikes me more as an aquatic fougere in the drydown. The initial blast is very pleasant, fresh and citrusy with a slight floral twang to it. Unfortunately the drydown is similar to 'Patrick' which I also own, is also inexpensive, and which I prefer. Still, a good frag for the price if you have nothing similar already.
