Brut Actif Blue

Brut Actif Blue is one of my favorite fragrances. I have read online posts where some people confuse Brut Actif Blue by Faberge and Brut Blue by Helen of Troy Ltd, Actif Blue being no longer production. They are very different fragrances. The current "Brut Blue" is an almost exact copy of Cool Water for about half the price. Brut Actif Blue is a fruity aquatic with strong oakmoss/woody base. It is very much at home amongst other dank Late 80's/Early 90's scents like Fahrenheit and Grey Flannel, the nuance being the fresh fruit top note. Brut Actif Blue has a definite "cheap cologne" character, but in a charmingly good way, such as is found in the Jovan family of fragrances. The nearest scent still in production that I have found is Cardin Bleu Marine. The mid tones and the base of Bleu Marine are very close to Brut Actif Blue, however the base notes of Bleu Marine are a real sock on the jaw, almost as pungent as Polo. I preFer Actif Blue. Helen of Troy Ltd, who currently owns the brut line, has not rereleased this fragrance, however their Brut "Active Sport" gel antiperspirant is a identical the the Actif Blue gel of the 1990s.

Wow I forgot I owned a bottle of this long ago. Fuzzy and cheap smelling. Splashed on a heavy does of this and went to a party. The host's a**hole husband made a snide remark about it. Pissed me off.

Pretty much just "Brut Blue" now. Can be found in the Brut Classic bottle, except the glass is blue. I have nothing against Fragrantica's pyramid for this scent, but I smell mostly thin lavender, heavy green apple, some white musk, and not much else. There's a coumarinic warmth in there, but it's not as pervasive as the massive apple note. I guess it's a tweaking of Cool Water, and the formula is from 1994, so there's actually a pretty good resemblance - if you figure they were formulating this in '92 or '93, four or five years after CW's release, that's not a very long time, and they were working off the original CW formula as a template. You smell that sort of quality in the way Blue smells, because this isn't your garden variety aquatic, but more a fruity fougere. Anyway, Cool Water is much better, but I have to admit this version of Brut smells nice. A little too simple, but nice.

this review i write about the brut bottle that is similar to this but is green in colour with silver decorative chains ( not seen in fragrantica collection) the frag is sweet and smooth , easily wearable in office or weddings .good for someone in thirties. though i like it quite a lot , but it would not make me eager to buy it (for example sculpture pour homme which i tested along with this , i find much mature and appealing).an all weather and all occasion frag (so means not "so" great for "special" occasions)

sorry guys but brut actif blue and brut blue are not the same fragrance ., blue is a cw copy while actif blue is a synthetic apple pear mint frag. brut blue did not come out in 94, actif blue came out in 94 and is not on the market anymore, while brut blue still is. I went through quarts of this stuff in high school it was my gym class freshen up after showers. I prefer actif blue over brut blue anyday.

I had forgotten all about this until the other day (probably after reading about Gravity and other forgotten bargain frags). Sorry, not a current review but I certainly remember how much I liked Actif Blue! Reading the notes, I don't recall which ones stood out, except for maybe the grass, mint, and apple.
