Brut Black (Brut Titan)

This is a whole vibe... it might be an oldschool vibe, but a vibe nonetheless. A darker version of the original, this is soapy and fresh, but very dark. I don't get quite as much of the anise from my bottle as others describe, but instead more of the citrus-herbal sensation on a smooth cedar base. Cheap bottle, cheap ingredients, but it smells quite nice and lasts until the next morning on my shirt. I got this one for just a few bucks, and it fills a darker gap in that "after a shower" scent genre in ny wardrobe. I'm glad I tried this, I've been wearing it over and over again for the last few days.

Of all places I saw this in a dollar store a few years ago. Maybe 2-4$ a bottle. The atomizer after a while got stuck half way so I have no idea why they made it so tall so this could potentially happen. Luckily you can fix it yourself by just putting it where it should be. I got maybe 2-3 hours of life out of this, maybe more on clothes. It's much better than the usual brut we are all more familiar with. The scent I found was dark which is of no surprise considering the title. yet the surprise to me was It comes off as fresh and a bit soapy like some subtitles in say Irish Spring soap (not as sweet). No idea why it kind of reminds me of it but there's a light bit of spiciness that draw you in. I was actually quite surprised at how nice it was and within a week the whole shelf of it was gone. The scent is not award winning or may not even be someones signature scent but it's still good. I like the addition of the cheap little chain. Luckily the floral notes don't come off as feminine either they help create this depth to the scent. This would be someones first scent as I've tried far worst in bargain bins at my local drug store. It's something cheap to have in a car as it's not the longest lasting or to give a few sprays to freshen it up. Maybe something to wear when you want to give the expensive stuff in those double or triple digits a break. This is much better than Azzaro Pour Homme. using a lot of imagination as I went through a bottle of that recently at best the middle notes at best have some similarities but side by side you'd be able to see the differences. This scent is not something a 50+ year old man would wear. Teens to mid 30s maybe? Would I hunt this down if I needed it? No. But again it's better than the axe body sprays in this price range.

Soapy, yet somehow dark. It's like a manly soap. I find this more modern and distinctively different from the original brut, while still having some similarities. The anise in this is not the licorice-kind or especially strong, but adds to a clean yet slightly spicy feel. Personally I experience a backdrop of lavender, but based on the note votes I'm in the minority there. If you want a masculine and clean fragrance with some soft spices then I think this is an excellent choice.

Brut Black.... this fragrance definitely smells like anise but definitely NOT like black licqourice. Nothing in common with a bag of HARIBO licqourice or an old Darrell Lea chocolate shop. If you are familiar with the BOD body spray range you will find this Brut Black similar to a few of them. Anise, citrus and wood....nice but not as good as the original Brut IMHO.

One of my best blind ever. I read the notes and bought this beauty without actually testing it on my skin. But luckily this worked out pretty well with my skin chemistry. This gives kind of old school vibe wherein the floral notes are there but I didn’t feel them much, I think they are to give depth to this scent. Spiciness of this fragrance is just perfect, neither less nor loud. Opening gives more aroma of citrus, basil and lavender followed by heart that is floral basically and dry down is woody one. Price is amazingly low and original fresh and soapy but super dark feel makes it worth buying. Longevity is eternal, I wore it last morning and still after 15 hours, I can smell it on my shirt. I would say simple, easy go and all-time fresh scent that is going to be on every scent lover’s shelf. Must try!

When it comes to fragrances sometimes I just can't resist. I'm strolling through my local Walgreens and I see a display of "special Limited Edition" Brut sprays. On sale. Only $8. So I purchased both the Brut Black and the Brut Blue. The above description is pretty accurate for Brut Black. The fragrance has that synthetic "fresh" smell common to many current "drugstore fragrances". The whole effect though is a not unpleasant melange of fresh, kind of spicy, non-specific floral, non-specific wood and some non-specific citrus. This scent will draw compliments from teenaged girls working at the checkout register if that is something you find to be a positive. This could be a nice starter fragrance for a guy just getting into uping his grooming routine.

Lots of anise, which I love. Good and simple, layers well, crisp, inexpensive. Very pleasant. Very easy to live with, clean, fresh. Holds it's scent well. According to the admin of brutworld.com Brut Black is a seperate fragrance from Brut Black Special Reserve. EVERYONE is selling Brut Black spray cologne Black AS Special Reserve, but it ISN'T. Brut Black Special Reserve has the words "Special Reserve" on the bottle and box. So fragrancenet.com, amazon, everyone on ebay, EVERYBODY is pulling this crap and it pisses me off. I'd like to try a bottle of the SR...WHO HAS IT? Seriously, let me know!

Brut Black is like liquid licorice for a while, and then it fuzzes out, becoming a vague semisweet "fresh" fragrance. They went nuts with the anise note for some reason, and I wonder if the idea was to stretch the anise element of regular Brut. I do sense a hint of lemon and a very mild herbal twang in the background of Black, but to be honest the budget of this scent is too limited for any real dynamism beyond the top notes. If you like synthetic musks in the generic "black" style, and happen to enjoy anise, Brut Black might be your ideal Saturday spritz.
