Brut Revolution

THE SHORTEST REVOLUTION IN HISTORY: The scent is nice, it's real masculine but not in an overpowering or offensive way. This cologne falls flat on its face when it comes to longevity and sillage and it shocked me when I realized this because I figured that if it's a Brut cologne it would hit and hit strong. Honestly this would be a fantastic cologne if it lasted longer I just can't recommend buying something that you would have to drown in to smell it after an hour and a half.

Yep, I too got it at Big Lots, $4 for 2.5 ounces. Not a bad fragrance at this price point. However, its longevity is lacking. I decided to move on from this fragrance and gave it to my 16 year old son. He seems to like it! Opens with lots of pepper and some pear, but settles down to a pleasant marine scent. The base notes are very subtle at best. It's great for Summer, shorts & flip flops, casual, and day wear. If you can get it for < $5, consider giving it a try.

Seems like a aqua-like vetiver to me. Linear, does not change from beginning to end.

Before this all became a hobby, I was frequently buying plastic bottles of BRUT cologne and aftershave from the now discontinued “Army & Navy” stores here in BC. On a side note, they celebrated 100 years of operation in 2020 before shutting down forever. Anyhow they would often have a variety of BRUT product, being a discount retailer, the green cologne bottle looked identical to the aftershave bottle save that the cologne had an atomizer, which eventually would stop. So I saw Revolution and bought the set, the aftershave was nice and the cologne was ok as well, I believe I paid six dollars each for this BRUT upgrade. I would discover of course this had nothing to do with BRUT original, and in my basic fragrance world it would be my new “fancy” scent. This is really not a review as much as a story, the scent is exactly as others below describe. I just find my own journey into this hobby something others might have experienced. Perhaps due to finances, and not having the grey market back then, the thought of buying anything that cost over fifty dollars would be taboo. Yet the gentleman in my life indicated that one should wear a fragrance, so I did what I could to keep that tradition in the most budget way possible. Funny enough this must have come and went in a flash, as it was in Army & Navy shortly after its release.

Flat and boring ..... that's it. That's all........end. Don't apply this as single layer, You must layer it with other 'blue' fragrance...

You know the guy, he douses himself with some beast-mode projecting cologne, walks in a room, and you can smell his scent from across the way... ...you won't be that guy with Brut Revolution. I have aftershaves that last longer, project further. Too bad, because it's a fairly pleasant aquatic.

Sooners has already written the definitive review here. Longevity on Brut's Revolution is absolutely abysmal, even when paired with the Aftershave I never get more than 30-45 minutes and that's after 25+ wears. The top is a nice blend of pear and pepper and a hint of green that quickly gets overtaken by the dominant sea water note and never develops further for the brief time it stays on the skin. The base notes are indistinguishable and honestly non-existent. Incredibly inoffensive and very pleasing to new noses and beginners, a great fragrance for those who don't like fragrances or are just starting out. You are much better off going out to the Dollar Store and getting yourself the deodorant for $1, it goes extremely well with most aquatic fragrances and outlasts the edt by 4-5 hours. You'll also get a little more of a dose of woods and better balance in the deodorant release. I can't get any longevity or distance out of this spray, even after drenching myself in it. A major dud in longevity and sillage (30-50 minutes), Brut Revolution was a great idea but was poorly executed by Yves Cassar, who to his credit must have been under incredible budget constraints to make a cheap EDT for Walmart shelves and drugstores to compete with Old Spice, Aqua Velva, etc. Discontinued. Works better as a glorified splash on Aftershave.

A revolution? Certainly not one of any lasting significance. Let's call it a small uprising later put down by force by my legions; with the obligatory executions to follow. The deodorant stick for this is a bargain basement gem at Dollar Tree, the actual spray cologne? Well, better get your nose on it quick and early, this stuff disappears quickly within an hour or two. What you get is pleasing enough, if nothing altogether unique or groundbreaking. It's mostly an oceanic breeze supplemented by a hint of airy musk and spice complimented by a subtle and fruity pear note that stays very soft on the skin with 2-3 sprays and doesn't develop beyond its opening salvo. It was a great idea by Brut (necessitated by declining sales numbers) at the time to step out of its baby boomer core audience and follow the trends down the aquatic trail to financial gain, backed by a very respectable chemist in Yves Cassar; but only the body wash and deodorant stick proved noteworthy. Within a year of launch Brut's leadership had already decided to go in a different direction marketing wise and the product was left to the bargain bins. Best used for spring and summer sport in the early mornings and evenings, doesn't have the longevity for work or a night out. Scent: 3/5 Longevity: 1/5 Sillage: 1.5/5 Overall Quality: 2.5/5

As an aristocrat lacking fondness of revolutionary talk and class identity politics, this is one of the few "revolutions" I can openly embrace. One of complete and utter insignificance. This reminds me of Frankfurt in 1848 or Madrid in 1936, two rather well-meaning democratic reform movements easily tamed by internal divisions and too much bending over for royalist sanction to ever be anything noteworthy. What do you get here? A tangy, dry pear note reined in by green leaves and pepper in the opening that quickly transforms into a light synthetic oceanic breeze with the slightest hints of generic woods as it dries down. The scent isn't bad at all, the pear is a standout element here that makes it unique in its blending with fresh spice and green aromatic accords, it just doesn't have any weight to hold on your skin for more than an hour and a half. I personally keep it in my collection as an alternative option in the late spring and summer for a quick meet-up or a workout fragrance for running outdoors when you need something extremely subtle and unimposing. Why am I reviewing this? I have no clue. Just bought it at a thrift store (Or if U B in the U.K. ; Charity Shop - which is ironic because all the big box thrift stores here in the USA only donate a TINY SLIVER of their profits to charity). This smells like a watered down Tommy Bahama . LOL. Yeah; wear this and all your Tommy Bahamas will be "BEAST MODE". LOL.

I paid $5 for this at Big Lots. Picked it up while standing in line. The two previous reviews are right on. For this much money it is actually a rather pleasant scent.
