Lutin Errant

Cozy woodland at dusk when the fireflies come out. The forest is damp and mysterious. Everything is calming and the air is crisp. I love wearing this after a shower before bed. So comforting and smooth. Love it.

One of the best Unique smelling perfumes I’ve tried it smells like a fresh forest very earthy and beautiful it smells like what I imagine the Forrest to smell like in twilight🙌🏼

Personal: 8/10 - It smells like forest. I like that. :) Mass appeal: 8/10 - Most people will like it, but the earthiness may be offputting. Performance: 3/10 - This fragrance disappears WAY too fast. Value: 3/10 - Extremely expensive for a good, but not amazing fragrance, with poor performance. Uniqueness: 7/10 - Particularly woody and forest-ey. Moreso than other 'woods' fragrances. SCORE: 58/100 Full bottle buy? NO, although I really like the fragrance, justifying a full bottle? No. Blind buy? NO, see how it performs on your skin before you invest. Recommend? YES, perfect for a man who just wants to smell like the outdoors. Date night? YES, masculine and somewhat warm. Very appealing. Office safe? YES, it's dominantly woody and inoffensive. Not overbearing. Pros: One of the best 'outdoors' inspired fragrances. Cool bottle. Smells expensive. Cons: Expensive. Extremely disappointing performance. Better options for the price. If it weren't for the fact of this fragrance sticking around for about the duration of the drive to work, it would really be amazing. It smells wonderfully natural and woody, but the performance kills it. It opens with a super loud, bright wood with a musky, slightly sweet, very intoxicating undertone that I really want to love. As it dries, the frutiness and sweetness dissipates and evolves into a slightly sweet, warm wood that is very pleasant. And then it disappears. Unique and natural. Effectively conveys the essence of mischievous woodland creatures. I like this and Faison D'or the most from the house.

I got the Buchart Colbert sample set from the official website. Lutin Errant was the reason I bought the set; it was the one I wanted to try the most, and the one I was most disappointed by. Many people have lauded this as their perfect PNW forest scent. It might've been mine, if I could smell it! Lutin Errant is so soft and faint.The projection is nonexistent; even when I bring my wrist to my nose, I can barely smell it. If I'm in a controlled environment with no other scents around, I get faint whiffs of it every now and then. A subtle, undiscernable, mélange of something vaguely "nature". It's inoffensive, but nothing about it stands out or packs a punch, and then it disappears within an hour or so. None of the other scents from Buchart Colbert's line have such poor performance. Not even L'Hantise — the haunting, ghostly one! I have a few sample sets from Pineward on the way, perhaps their renditions of forests and nature will be more my style.

I was so curious about the mushroom note in this that I couldn't wait to try it. Lutin Errant--wandering leprechaun in French--is an interesting dry woody fragrance that at first reminds me of Nasomatto Absinth, which is an all-time favorite of mine. I get some herbal sage and woods right off the bat, with a bit of very desiccated coconut. The rum note is present on a tester, but not on my skin, otherwise, the fragrance is pretty similar in both places. I'm not really getting anything that smells definitively of mushroom, though there's a vague "wet newspaper" thing going on that could be it. The drydown has a bit of muskiness and more woods, and overall the scent becomes warmer and a tad sweeter. Lutin Errant doesn't actually display any of the mischievous or trickster nature of a leprechaun (or a "straying sprite"). It's very quiet and rather calming. I like it.
