The Hype

[AUGUST 2024] Shoutout to a guy who traded w me on Marketplace! Reviewing this Australian dupe brand, I'll be reviewing two fragrances from them: The Hype, and Casanova (not listed.) The Hype: Mildly salty-savoury licorice type scent with a helping of very small labdanum, pink pepper (not scratchy to the nose), and asian pantry-esque cumin (where the savoury part of The Hype comes from.) Quite soft to the nose but the salty-savouriness is appealing and you can always spritz a bit more for noticeability, though don't try because the Bujairami projects and is noticeable to others. I had people huddle closer to me in the elevator which was nice. This also applied to Casanova, which I also applied on the other sleeve besides The Hype. There is a savoury mild body musk that is noticeable in The Hype that is kind of cute and sexy and that's definitely the cumin. The pink pepper gives this an exotic flavour that's pleasant enough, combined with the licorice and cumin notes. I thought it was almost sage herb ngl, but I'd recommend this for $45. Casanova: My personal favourite of the two. I used to own Naxos, which I gave away to a previous roommate's Indian Wedding since they wanted it. Sometimes, a whiff of iso e or ambroxan is noticeable which gives it a slightly synthetic touch but overall this is very smooth and the honey found in Casanova and Naxos is euphoria inducing and cuddle worthy. Smooth, plush to the nose and not as medicinal, deep, or exotic smelling as the real Naxos but a crowdpleaser nonetheless. It's like 5/8th of the real thing. I wrote a review of Naxos 2~3 years ago. I am happy to have its cousin, Casanova, under my wing again. Not as potent to the nose IMO when smelled up close-- as it does from an arm's length (which surprises me because yet again perfumes are olfactory magic)-- so it's up to you to test Casanova yourself and enjoy. (PS: No smokiness whatsoever.) Both come with a well-designed nozzle that you can tap lightly, or all the way. It is pressure sensitive. Also, I feel their respective fragrances are easy to dupe because they're mostly linear and that reflects here as well but everyone's body chemistry is different. Who nose. Definitely recommend The Hype for intimate nights, and Casanova for sunny days. I would not usally buy dupes (not even ZARA's interest me) but would recommend this local Australian brand, Bujairami, for dupes. $45 for a 100ml with these scent signatures is great!

Sample was from Misty mountain decant Amazing quality from bujairami again. This is what many describe as being side effect. The rum note is definitely there and I give it my approval. I'm always surprised at the price compared to the quality with this company. Unreal. I haven't smelled side effect directly but smelled other dupes and this is good.

To my nose, this particular fragrance outshines the original after all its reformulations. Its longevity surpasses expectations, and the sillage is truly remarkable. The scent trail it leaves is impeccably enticing, making it a guaranteed compliment magnet. Additionally, the longevity factor is highly impressive, making it well worth the price.

Very good fragrance with a low price

This dupe house usually get it pretty close but this is awful, irissy lipsticky syrupy. cheap smelling mess. It legit smells like Joop Homme but a bit airier and sharper. I pick up almost none of the sleazy seductive notes that make Side Effect so good. Unisex leaning feminine. Complete miss. I'd only use this to layer with darker linear fragrances to give a more fun slight boozy vibe to them. 4/10

@mannyoyson 100% on the money with Casanova. They need to add this juice on here. Absolutely banging version.
