Clary Sage

Surprised I’m the first and only review. This is a fantastic scent. The whole signature collection of Burberry totally underrated by fragrance community. Clary sage is a fantastic, natural-smelling herbal scent with the right amount of sweetness and earthy notes. Long lasting, incredibly elegant and perfect for any occasion or season. Could be a signature scent. Absolutely love this hidden gem that probably will be discontinued very soon.

This seems to capture the “English countryside” theme nicely. It’s got a rich, powdery, herbaceous character. It reminds me of herbal tea and has a witchy and comforting vibe. Kind of like a little cottage with drying herbs hanging around the room. Totally unisex to me. It’s a shame that it’s been discontinued. Get it while you can!

Underrated. Imagine a grand soir-esque fragrance with long lasting top hits of clary/cardamom. Warm Spicy balsam. Good quality and well blended.

Cardamom and leather. Don't get much sage here. Good quality but it's not my cup of tea.

You’ve got to respect a house like Burberry trying to add something different and interesting to the market, and Clary Sage does just that. But sadly, I really don’t enjoy this, it leans far too heavily into the herbal facets, to the point it doesn’t even smell like a fragrance anymore. It’s a sharp, dry and herbal affair, with a strong presence of sour Mediterranean vegetation, and particularly loose leaf green tea. There’s a strong green and earthy character to it, it’s very leafy to the point of unpleasantness. As I said, it doesn’t smell like a fragrance, instead I can very well picture people thinking you smell unclean if you wore this. I commend the creativity here, and it’s clearly a well made fragrance, but the actual smell is a no for me.

I blindbought it at a good deal. But I ́m kind of dissapointed. Not that if everything below wasn ́t truth: herbal, powdery, rich, balsamic- it indeed realy is. But it screens: Aurelien Guichard: Santal Austral/ Bois d' Ebene bases. With all the negative sides for me: ambroxan overdose, that ruins the Matiere premiere line for me. But my husband loves it, so he will wear it.
