Mr. Burberry

I recently finally tried a few scents from this popular house. This was the first and I really love it. It really is unique, the grapefruit notes are impeccably done. You get this fresh, spicy, yet absolutely edible opening with the grapefruit, and it’s divine. It evolves over time to become very deep and woody, yet always remaining fresh spicy, and not overpowering. It just has that woody depth that many designer frags simply fail to pull off. Now, I kind of get tired of fresh scents, but honestly this one is unique and beautiful. Super classy, yet versatile. Daytime, after the gym, office, date night. I can see this one easily pulling off any of those occasions flawlessly. I was honestly a bit shocked to see some of the negative reviews as I find this scent to truly exceptional, and after testing a few and I instantly ordered my three favorites: Mr. Burberry, Burberry Brit, and Burberry London. This one is easily the most versatile and crowd pleasing out of them all, IMO (however this definitely comes at a cost, I can see now why some might label it bit bland sometimes, but I still enjoy it a lot, the grapefruit/floral/woody combination is fantastic, and the deep, woody drydown is amazing!!) after taking home a sample bottle, I can definitely understand some of the criticism, like it's a bit generic especially compared to some of their other scents (this is seriously the “CK” of Burberry men’s fragrances).I do feel it retains the Burberry DNA but it definitely is more modern and crowd pleasing/conforming. I wish it were sweeter or more vibrant. It definitely is very, very green, and you can definitely detect the mint, and I feel this clashes with the citrus... you get a really sharp, bitter scent, like freshly cut herbs (like you ground up a bunch of mint leaves) and then stuck a grapefruit on top, but the grapefruit is still bitter... this needs sweetness to balance out the sharp bitterness, and taking all that into consideration. I still really enjoy it though, I really admire the grapefruit and herbal/woody combination, and this scent really evolves over time, the dry down is freaking amazing, it completely evolves into a deep, dark, woody vibe. It’s generally a safe pick for many occasions, I wear it a lot during the day especially, but to be perfect, something still needs to be adjusted with the clashing opening notes. 7.25/10

I don't know why but this one has been catching my eye for some time now, I think it comes from the name (Mr Burberry is a great name!) And the brand (since London). But considering my perfume's collection, I have been ditching shopping for some time and having seen the olfactives notes on Fragrantica, nothing more had ordered me to make an absolute purchase. Anyway, but today I smelled that scent at a flea market. By lifting the cap, without even having sprayed it, I already thought I liked it (a very present smell of wood / cardamom and grapefruit). So I bought this already initiated bottle (2015 lot) and sprayed it on my wrist when I got home. The very fresh opening of mint, cardamom, grapefruit, and lavender is undoubtedly reminiscent of two well-known and spicy scents (La Nuit de L'Homme and Hypnôse by Lancôme). This one differs in its freshness, which can even evoke Cool Water without the synthetic or opulent side. I don't find it sweet (sugary) or boring, it must be said that I have very few scents tending to an aromatic and almost aquatic aspect (tarragon). I already find certain qualities of versatility in it, a pleasant effect but of mass appeal therefore a little generic or common since LNDLH in particular, but with a sufficiently worked side to appear pleasant and not offensive. It looks perfect for a casual day, a day when you're not sure what to wear, and days at work. It returns an image of clean, neat, and urban. Portable and certainly enjoyed summer days and evenings, spring and fall days. The diffusion seems average and the durability still to be determined. The evolution is gradual and very smooth, first cardamom / grapefruit / mint / tarragon, then lavender / cedar / nutmeg. The musk base, where a powdery / woody side is reminiscent of Nu d'YSL. Well, excuse me, I have read very damaging reviews about this perfume, and I am sitting at the opposite because I love it from this first day and will wear it often for sure

I am amazed that momentum is building behind the notion that this is generic and even “blue”. Certainly there is a barbershoppy accord running through it which gives a retro men’s aftershave vibe that many will be familiar with, but initially it’s difficult to make this association to the past because of the surrounding notes. So yeah it may have a generic feel...if this were the 70s or 80s when men were more accustomed to wearing drugstore aftershaves yet still smelled great. I really enjoy this, I think Francis Kurkdjian did a great job of reimagining a British gentleman’s fragrance. Mr Burberry has a combination of strong herbal elements (Tarragon and mint in high volume) with some icy cold green leafyness and woody notes that resemble twigs being crunched while trekking through a forest on a cold foggy morning. Oakmoss slowly dominates the base giving Mr Burberry a darker and slightly musty green vibe, before giving way to a brighter, lovely sandalwood and a subtle pinch of powdery benzoin in the late stages. The performance is 8 hours for me and it has a lovely development. It transitions from bracing freshness to sharp twig-like woods against a barbershoppy accord and then all the edges gradually wear away and finish up smooth and pillowy. Highly recommended for a sunny spring day. Apply liberally and enjoy.

Ill try to convince my macho man to wear this one lol he likes Burberry, whenever he remembers to wear something. This perfume is not pretentious at all, maybe a mere step above body spray. W-H-O CARES! I tested a few high end ones at the men's section, God they all smelled generic to me till this one! I liked it the most. Im a sucker for woody scents, benzoin and mint.. But Tarragon?? I cook with both mint and tarragon(not at the same time tho) and love both, didnt expect to find it here tho I could sense its qualities - Tarragon is slightly sweet and aromatic - i love it. Overall a memorable to me fresh scent I wanna smell it again and def on my guy's neck,its a turn on. I guess those who bash it are into more sophisticated perfumes. Ive complimented random men on their perfume, sweet unusual ones, that smell objectively high end and lovely to me, but i wouldnt want them on MY guy ya know. This one is simple, deep, not loud, but manly, nothing too fancy, its a blue collar guy in my mind. I cant really imagine someone else wearing it, idk.. but like I said i have a blue collar guy in mind. P.S: where im from they say dont gift perfume to your significant other or ull break up haha. So ill have to drag him to Ulta and make him test it, which sounds like a headache to me, i think its worth it for this one.

Is this fragrance a stand-out fragrance? No. Is this fragrance a ground breaking one? No. Does this fragrance smell good? HELL YES! So.... Why all the hate? Now all of a sudden...a fragrance can only be liked if it is incredibly different and unique? Well I say...ridiculous!! DKNY Be Delicious smells like tart apples and look at all the praise that gets! Davidoff's Cool Water smells like a masculine-aquatic version of Bath & Body Works Cotton Blossom (or any cotton scent) and that has become a classic! This fragrance, I agree, may not be anything new or even unique...but it doesn't deserve all the hate it gets. It actually smells damn good! Very clean and very appropriate for lots of different situations. This can actually be the perfect office scent as it's sillage is perfect for the office setting (about 2-3 feet) and the scent itself is a woody type of clean scent, VERY unlikely to offend anyone's senses. I'm disappointed in all the hate thrown at something that clearly doesn't deserve it. I think I'm going to be buying a big 100ml bottle very soon actually. I'll stand out of the crowd and give this one a thumbs up! Overall Score - 8/10 And as a side note -- Can that bottle GET any more charming?! I love it. If a handsome cologne bottle were to exist...this would be it!

I think people might have felt let down by this fragrance because of the perfumer, but to me it really is a great fragrance. Give it a chance! It's woody yes, it's slightly citrusy yes, but to be honest it's blended so well that picking out individual notes is very difficult. It smells like a singular smell, not a haphazard concoction. It smells like Mr. Burberry. Thus I think that this fragrance would make a good signature scent for casual, office, and daytime wear. It ends up being slightly sweet, bright, fresh, woody, soapy, creamy scent. It opens with this sort of powdery, woody, effervescence, but in the dry down it loses the top notes and has this woody, creamy, sweet and manly scent to it. I think it's incredible. To rate the scent I give it about an 8 or 8.5/10. It's very good! The longevity is moderate, I get about 5-6 hours. Overall I'd give this an 8/10 and it does not deserve any of the hate it gets. It smells like a Burberry fragrance through and through and it's the definitely the best male fragrance they've put out to me. EDIT: I still love this scent. It's sweet, fresh, unique, and just all around awesome. My rating for this is even higher now and it's one of my favorite scents.

This is a nice fragrance! Lot of people are saying how boring, ordinary, weak or simple it is. I'm not agree. I tried it 3 times and all I can say is that it's very nice one. First of all I like the composition. It's smooth. That's how I can describe it - very smooth. It's not screaming, it's not in your face. It's very gentle and mild. I can't feel any syntheticness in it, no harshness. From the beginning to the end I feel quality. Yes, maybe the longevity is not what we all wanted or expected. That's the downside of it. But I can't say that it's a disaster. I get honest 5-6 hours of longevity and a lightmoderate sillageprojection. Probably if it would be a bit stronger, 15-20% for example. It woul'd be perfect. But it's still good. It's moderate. I just don't understand why "Bow-tie" deserves a lot of hate. Many people are buying current Chanel's (Blue,Allure's) which became dilluted now more and more for around 100$ and they can forgive Chanel 3-4 hours of longevity for 100$. But people cant forgive 5-6 hours longevity to Burberry which cost twice less.

just got a bottle for $39 and it was a steal!!! this thing projects off me so crazy i live in baltimore and right now it's pretty cold out and this thing CUTS thru the cold air its not overpowering like any of the warmer cold weather fragrances you might want to wear, people will still have to be moderately close to you to smell it but you will smell it with every little move you make and it is so refreshing to just get a whiff every few minutes i've turned some heads on my way to work, i got 2 compliments when i was getting food, a guy even asked me what i had on lol went to work and all the ladies asked was i coming from a date and what did i have on today it smells so good and different from what i usually wear (dior sauvage, gucci guilty, mont blanc legend spirit, dylan blue) and now im adding this to the weekly rotation

My new daily driver for work. Simple, inoffensive, clean. Can’t imagine anybody would ever NOT like this if they stepped into your scent bubble. Is it generic? You bet! But it’s juuuuust different enough from the current trends in men’s fragrances to set it apart. I picked this up two weeks at Sephora. I smelled almost every fragrance they had that day. I did not expect to walk out with this at all. Wasn’t even on my radar prior to walking into Sephora. But it was exactly what I wanted for a work fragrance. I do three sprays on the neck/chest and one more around the shirt collar area. I catch whiffs of it all day and I like it, so that’s all that matters to me. Between Mr. Burberry, Touch, and London, Burberry really has some great overlooked fragrances imo.

It's not groundbreaking. It's a very familiar scent, safe and generic. But on the good side.....IT SMELLS GREAT. My favorite Burberry scent to date this is the most beautiful "generic" smell in my collection. That makes it unique in one way! This is a very clean and light woody scent that starts out grapefruity fresh but dries down to an airomatically smooth scent of various woods and earth tones. Brings me into a world of an English pub with the smoke, wood and mossy florals. A little old school with a contemporary side. I was looking for a more mature scent and I think this one fits the bill. It is for the man that doesn't need to try so hard and who says I'm here I'm confident. I smell clean, fresh, and classy. Thank you Burberry!!

I love the opening of this its very fresh and familiar and gives instant pleasure to the senses. I get fresh citrus and mint predominately then wood and spice in the background giving this a warmth and holds the composition together nicely. This is very well blended imo and I really don't understand the negative reviews this has received as I see this scent as a people pleaser, but as we all know this whole genre is subjective so anyways.... I would recommend this scent strongly to anyone looking for something formal but not too sweet and heavy and not your typical bland citrus type scent. This has refinement and warmth in just the right places. A very nice reasonably priced scent from Francis Kurkdjian. Well worthy of a try.... 8/10

A girlfriend of mine bought this for me, and luckily I liked it a lot. Its simply a civilised safe fragrance that does not develop and its perfect for the office or everyday use. It is has a pleasant smooth powdery floral smell with soft musk, and it would suit a well dressed modern gentlemen wearing a blazer and brogues, whom is not trying to obtain attention and just wants a non nonsense safe fragrance for everyday use. I find this really lasts a long time on clothes and moderately well on 'my skin' so longevity is good for me at least and it has subtle projection. This fragrance has a use, its a good everyday, safe fragrance that is civilised and refined just like a well dressed English gentleman, which I guess suits the brand.

I really don't get the mass of negative reviews. Maybe this fragrance isn't overly unique or groundbreaking but it does smell great. I will admit that the immediate opening has a quite synthetic smell but that goes aways and opens up into a fantastic fresh scent. The dry down is lovely, fresh and clean. It's a very safe fragrance to be worn any time and any occasion. To me this is something that can be worn if you want to smell good but don't want to make a statement. And there is certainly a place for those in the fragrance world. Sometimes I like to smell great without it being obvious I'm wearing cologne. But to those saying it smells like Savage, Bleu de Chanel, or Contradiction are way off. Almost no similarities at all.

What am i supposed to say about this Mr. Burberry EDT? Ermmm. Okay.. You just ignore all the negative reviews about this perfume and get a bottle as soon as possible for yourself. This thing smells better than Versace Dylan Blue, Bleu de Chanel, Dior Sauvage and Bvlgari Aqva Atlantiqve. I put this Mr. Burberry alongside with D&G The One. 9/10 from me. Edit: OMG. I get more compliments every time i wear this. Im just wearing this for about 2 months. People can't stop complimenting this. This Mr. Burberry is the most complimented fragrance in my collection beating DHI, DHP, D&G The One, BDC, Sauvage, Ultra Male, 1 Million Prive and about 20 other designers. I can't believe it but it happens.

I tested this today and almost bought it, but it's time to put my spring/summer scents to bed for now and start adding to my fall/winter collection. Otherwise, it would be on my shelf right now. Things that come to mind for me with Mr. Burberry: -pleasant -somewhat unique -safe -comforting -woody/grassy (which I like) Francis Kurkdjian is a well renowned perfumer and has done a very nice job creating a crowd-pleasing scent that I think will eventually become a big success for Burberry, despite all the hate this receives right now. Don't form an opinion on this based on the negative reviews until you've tried it. Moderate longevity and moderate projection. Overall I give it an 8/10

I am so surprised by this scent - when I smell it from the bottle I simply do not like it. It is everything I do not like in a man scent - boring, too classic, nothing special about the overall smell. Everything changes when I spray it on my skin, it starts smelling very sophisticated, expensive and I think it is the chemistry of my skin. I bought it because a huge gift set was 20 euros on discount and I said - ok, it can be a great gift for somebody. After some time I decided to try it on me and OMG, amazing. So - not all fragranced can be assessed from the bottle, just give a try and you can find some of the best on the market.

If you’re 115 years old you can get away with this, but not 116...good to know. I was looking for a scent I could wear daily and not be cloying, kinda like the Bleu de Chanel’s, Sauvage’s, Dylan Blue’s of the world. Those scents all seem sort of bland to me, but this Fougere really stood out. It’s more dapper smelling to me, a bit more sophisticated and unique. I don’t understand the hate for this one, Francis Kurkdjian is one of the best perfumers in the world. I compared this with other scents like BdC, platinum egoiste and Sauvage... and Mr Burberry won each time with the females, so go figure.

This is my favorite shower gel-like fragrance. I like this one so much because unlike a lot of other shower gel- like fragrances, this one has some depth to it from the Cardamon and Benzoin. I know this one has a lot of dislikes for being uninventive, but, that doesn't change the fact that this bad boy smells pretty damn good. The EDP makes this one a bit darker, but, I think it is a tad bit of a redundant purchase. Give this one a try, you may be disappointed because it isn't anything new, but, it is Shower gel done amazingly. This also lasts for 6 hours and gives you a nice scent bubble.

Mr. Burberry is a "Gentle" man.. born in the urban streets of London.. dont judge him on the verdict given by some new born part time reviewers.. he's meant to be admired by the Graceful Ladies.. No!! he's not a playboy for one night stands.. He's chilled n relaxed.. he's far beyond the fear of competition.. He's Sherlock Holmes among marvels avenger.. He's a Gentle Man.. He's Mr. Burberry !!! :) 0-30 minutes - Citrus+Green (grapefruit,mint) 30-120 minutes - Aromatic+Woody(cardamom,nutmeg) 2hr-4hr - falls sharply to a skin scent but still fresh minty gingery surely a fresh humble scent.. 😊

This is a masterpiece, truly. Francis Kurkdjian knew what he was doing- this is like my personal catnip. My husband puts this on and I perk up from 2 rooms away. It is sweet and fresh but oh so sexy. Definitely has the undercurrent of Burberry's cologne DNA. It has the sillage and longevity you would expect from Burberry and you can practically taste how expensive the ingredients are. It's class in a bottle. I usually dither about fragrances, sometimes for years. I bought a full bottle of this the first time I smelled it at the store and I've never looked back. 10/10, FBW.
